Ex-Black Sheep Frontman/Producer WILLIE BASSE Launches New Empire Media, Inc. With New Album “The Money Grind”
80’s Metal Pioneer, Willie Basse has launched his new label New Empire Media with the release of his new album “The Money Grind”. The album is now availible in stores and on iTunes at http://www.apple.com/itunes/jukebox now with a European release slated for September, followed by a European a tour in October/November 2008.
Basse, best known for his role as bassist/frontman for the legendary LA based metalheads, Black Sheep (the metal version, not the rap version who bought the name from him in the 90’s. Black Sheep and Willie Basse were mainstays on the Los Angeles sunset strip during the ‘80s metal explosion. The band best known for their technical prowess and precision, has boasted members that include Slash, Paul Gilbert, James Kottak, Randy Castillo and Mitch Perry.
Staying true to his his metal and rock roots, Basse flexes his abilities as a song writer on “The Money Grind” with 12 ear-crunching, classic metal songs that will bring him back to the forefront of the genre. His unapologetic approach to metal makes the “The Money Grind” a powerful musical statement that can’t be ignored.
“The term classic metal doesn’t really make sense to me,” says Basse when describing his new album, “because that implies that there isn’t anything current about metal music, which isn’t true. Alternative, Grunge, Punk, Emo, etc. – they all have their basis in the same metal music that I’ve been playing for years.”
Despite taking a hiatus to pursue real estate, Basse has remained active during his absence from the music scene. In addition to his own label, Willie has built several state of the art recording studio facilities. He’s worked for years as a Pro Audio Equipment Specialist and Technology Consultant. His studio is almost as busy as Willie is himself. Recent projects coming out his studios include, CANNED HEAT “Boogie 2000”, Finis Tasby “Jump Children” and several projects that feature DJ Ashba (SIXX:AM / Beautiful Creatures), Glen Sobel (Gary Hoey / Impelliteri / Beautiful Creatures) Carmine & Vinnie Appice (Ozzy / Black Sabbath / Dio) Phil Soussan (Ozzy), Tony Franklin (Jimi Page / Blue Murder), Jeff Pilson (Dokken / Dio), Randy Castillo (Ozzy / Lita Ford), James Kottak (Scorpions), Terry Ilous (XYZ), Mike Finnigan (Hendrix / CSN / Bonnie Raitt), Lee Thornburg (Tower of Power Horns).

BANGALORE CHOIR is reuniting with four original members, plus the addition of kick-ass guitarist Brynn Arens, known for his work with FLIPP and OBSESSION.
It has been 16 years since the band’s only release “On Target” on Giant Records in 1992, which came out on the same day as NIRVANA‘s “Nevermind”. Shortly after, BANGALORE CHOIR dismantled after being released from the label.
After several years under the radar on a ranch in Montana, lead vocalist David Reece (ex-ACCEPT, DAREFORCE) was contacted by Escape Records in 2007 to see what the chances would be for him to go to Sweden to sing on Swedish band GYPSY ROSE‘s next release. Soon after that David found himself in the studio for the next year recording and writing for the new GYPSY ROSE CD, “Another World”, to be released June 20.
While touring and doing the Sweden Rock Festival in June 2007 and opening for AEROSMITH in Europe, Reece regained his passion for music, deciding he wanted to put BANGALORE CHOIR back together. Reece contacted former bandmate John Kirk. Upon returning from Sweden the process was put into motion. David found himself on his way to Northern California to Kirk‘s studio EVP Productions to start laying down tracks with a catalog of new material.
Pre-production is almost complete with a CD release planned for mid-summer 2008. Excitement was a buzz and with new management on board talk about doing summer festivals came up.
Lance King at Nightmare Records got word of this, and we contacted the band immediately about them playing the Tri-Label Stage at this year’s Rocklahoma festival.
The original rhythm duo of bassist Ian Mayo and drummer Jackie Ramos have cleared their schedules and are on board for the reunion.
BANGALORE CHOIR is set to perform July 13 in Pryor, headlining the Second Stage North, and leave a permanent imprint on those who attend.

Death Angel has released a new CD, Killing Season, in February. The band has released a video for the song Dethroned.
If you say Sink, Death Angel’s Killing Season wont see the light of day at HRH. If you saw SWIM, it will be reviewed at this website soon.
Special thanks to Heepsy for pointing this one out to me.
