Jesse James Dupree has released a second video in support of his new solo album, Rev It up and Go-Go.
You can read the review of the album below. Check out the video for Bite, here.
After seeing Jackyl live in 2007, I have really started to appreciate their brand of no frills hard rock. I always liked the band, but I they were far from my favorite. I had to check out the latest work from Jesse James Dupree.
Those of you looking for some new Jackyl styled tunes, may like what you hear on the first half of the disc (Saturday Night). The tunes are a good mix of hard and southern rock.
The second half of this CD may have some people scratching their heads.
The half of the disc coined Sunday Morning (Old Fashioned Radio Show) is more of a country, rock, blues hybrid that is different from the music that Dupree has been known for.
The first half of the disc is so much in the same vein as Jackyl, I wonder why, Dupree didn’t save the tunes for another CD with the band that made him famous (or is that infamous). It may not be Dupree’s best work, but it does rock. 1095 days is the only song that takes a detour, but it reminds me of a few of the other tunes that Jackyl has done.
The second half of the disc, isn’t my favorite, but it does have its moments. Fred and Richard Young from the Kentucky Headhunters join Dupree’s group for some fun sounding country rock.
The Party is a honky tonk sounding tune with some cool slide guitar. I actually like this tune pretty well.
Maybe it isn’t fair to compare this music to Jackyl. This isn’t a Jackyl CD, and with the second half of this disc formulated to sound like an old fashioned radio show, it becomes something different. At first, I didn’t like the second half of this disc at all, but a few spinning this in my car a few times, I have warmed up to it somewhat.
This CD may appeal to both Jackyl and Kentucky Headhunter fans. This isn’t Dupree’s best work, but it is entertaining. To find out more information on Dixie Inc, and to hear some of the songs on this disc, check out the band’s myspace page.

Warner Brothers has released the latest Batman sequel, titled The Dark Knight.
The Dark Knight has several returning cast members from the 2005 movie Batman Begins, including Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/ Batman), Morgan Freeman, (Lucius Fox), Michael Cane (Alfred Pennyworth), Gary Oldman (James Gordon) and Cillian Murphy (The Scarecrow). Newcomers to the cast are Maggie Gyllenhaal (Rachel Dawes), Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent), and the late Heath Ledger (The Joker).
From the very opening scenes of the The Dark Knight, you realize you are seeing something special. This is Heath Ledger’s last role before his untimely death. His acting ability shines in the The Dark Knight. Ledger’s Joker is unlike any you have seen before. This Joker is psychotic as hell, and somewhat creepy. This might be a Batman movie, but the Joker steals the show in the Dark Knight. In fact, his role is so mesmerizing, you will forget that you are watching a comic book movie. Yes, he really is that good.
The Dark Knight has a good story, a ton of action, and just enough special effects to keep it over the top. The level of intensity is extremely high throughout the film.
There are a couple of small drawbacks in the movie. Sometimes things in the Dark Knight happen so fast, it is hard to tell what is going on. This is only a minor complaint though. The amazing thing about The Dark Knight is how real it feels. Their wasn’t a whole lot of comic book campiness that is usually found in this type of film.
Aside from Ledger’s amazing role as the Joker, Aaron Eckhart does an excellent job playing Harvey Dent, and later at Two Face. Maggie Gyllenhaal who took over Katie Holmes roll as Rachel Dawes makes you forget that someone else played the role. Christian Bale proves once more, that he is the best Bruce Wayne and Batman to date.
The Dark Knight raises the bar for comic related movies. With the Dark Knight, Warner Brother has created the best comic book movie the company has released to date, if not, one of the best ever made.
I highly recommend catching this one in the theater. I loved the Dark Knight, and think you will too!

Canadian rockers Fraze Gang, have a brand new video called Jackhammer. This is a bonus track on the Fraze Gang’s new self titled CD that was released in March, 2008.
Check it out the video for Jackhammer below!
If extreme heavy metal is your favorite type of music, you ought to give Nevada metal act Hemlock a look. Hemlock released their fourth album, No Time For Sorrow in March of 2008.
For a three piece metal act, this band has a big sound. Singer Chad Smith’s vocals are so abrasive that only extreme or death metal fans will truly enjoy what he has to offer here.
While this is not my favorite style of metal, I can not deny that this band has talent. Hemlock’s sound reminds me somewhat of later Pantera. Guitarist Brian Gentry isn’t as as good as Dime Bag Darrell, but he does a pretty good job. In fact, as heavy as this band is, it is hard for me to believe that their are only three musicians.
Hemlock has opened for a slew of metal acts, including Slayer, Lamb of God, Slipknot, Hatebreed and more. If you like the style of metal offered by these groups, give Hemlock a chance. You can hear some of their songs at their myspace page.

I haven’t covered this story at HRH, but Joe Elliott’s latest retort to Bret Michaels and Rikki Rockett is pricless! Read on!
DEF LEPPARD frontman Joe Elliott has hit back at POISON singer Bret Michaels and drummer Rikki Rockett over their response to Elliott’s comments at a June 6 press conference at the Sweden Rock Festival, in which Elliott said bands like POISON and MÖTLEY CRÜE had “no substance in their music” and therefore relied more on their image in the ’80s. Rockett questioned Elliott’s rock historian credentials in his posting, and wrote, “I’d be hurt if this were coming from John Lennon… So it takes about one minute and 45 seconds to put on eyeliner. I suppose during that same time you were writing the next ‘Imagine’.”
Michaels had already responded to Elliott’s comments earlier, saying, “We have not sold out, and continuously, for 20 years every arena because we care about just our appearance. The music comes first.” He then added, “(DEF LEPPARD) shouldn’t be knocking anyone about their music since they just did a show called ‘Dancing With The Stars’ in the U.S. and they got crucified because they fucking lip-synched the entire show, so before they bust anyone’s balls, I’ve never lip-synched a fucking thing in my life — ever! It’s the pot calling the kettle black.”
In a brand new message posted at DEF LEPPARD’s official web site, Elliott writes, “Whoah boys, slow down!!! Well, Bret has a point, we DID lip-synch on ‘Dancing With The Stars’… absolutely… a show they’d love to be on, no doubt! But it was two-fold. One, the nature of the show didn’t lean towards a full live performance, too many restrictions, so we lip-synched — the way ALL artists do when they shoot videos (and the same as we did on ‘American Bandstand’ 25 years ago, and every time we did ‘Top Of The Pops’, dozens of times, so to us Englishmen, it’s no big deal). Two, I had a severe respritory infection, as highlighted by my croaking through the (absolutely 100% live!) ‘Ellen’ show performance the day before! My throat doctor (Dr. Sugarman, possibly Bret’s doctor too!) advised me NOT to sing for a week, but these shows were all on the week our new album was released, so canceling wasn’t an option…. hence my rather again croaky performance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ the next night! I was simply making the following simple point when I said a lot of those Hollywood bands weren’t ‘real’ (or whatever I said)… I was born Joseph Elliott, Sav was born Richard Savage, Rick was born Richard Allen, Phil was born Philip Collen, Viv was born Vivian Campbell, and oh, Steve was born Stephen Clark. I don’t think anyone in POISON uses their real name, do they? And I could name hundreds of others who don’t, but POISON came to mind because I was asked about them! It’s nothing personal, it was just an answer to a question. As for being ‘crucified’ for lip-synching, one DJ on KLOS doesn’t worry me, however, a Top 5 entry in the Billboard album chart the week after and very healthy ticket sales seems to lean towards the fact that most of our fans knew that I was sick and that I ‘took one for the team,’ as it were. Calm down boys, you’ve heard worse, no?! Hey… Rikki implies we’re miming on tour?! HA!!! Well, he’s welcome to come see us anytime he wants… Obviously not used to hearing a good band very often then, is he?? 🙂 Also, glitter rock may well have been re-christened in the 80’s by er, someone in Hollywood, but trust me, I WAS THERE in 1972 in the UK, when Bowie, Bolan, SLADE, SWEET etc….. ruled with GLAM ROCK! Check out some old mags and you’ll see for yourself. I’m no historian, just a big fan, but sorry, Rikki (excuse me if I’ve spelled that wrong, though!), you’re wrong here, mate… very wrong! As you might say yourself, chill dude, just shootin’ the shit! PS: Rikki — John Lennon is dead, in case no no told you… And ‘Elliott’ is spelled with 2 ‘T’s…”

Jimi Hendrix is coming to Guitar Hero.
The Seattle-based company Experience Hendrix, which controls the rock icon’s musical legacy, is providing Hendrix’s music and likeness for the latest “Guitar Hero” video game, Aaron Grant, a spokesman for publisher and developer Activision and Red Octane, told the Associated Press.
It’s the first time Hendrix’s likeness will be showcased in the game.
An avatar of Hendrix, as well as the song “The Wind Cries Mary” and a live version of “Purple Haze” recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena, will be included on “Guitar Hero World Tour.” The fourth edition of the popular game franchise is scheduled for release Oct. 27.
“World Tour” will be the first “Guitar Hero” to feature playable drums and a microphone.
Besides the in-game songs, Experience Hendrix provided Activision and Red Octane with tunes that will be released in the future as downloadable content, Grant said.
“Monster Philosophy” will be the title of the 10th studio album from one of Denmarks most popular and persistent rock bands. The songs were written in the past two years and producer on the album is Joshua, who has worked with Kent, Carpark North and many other bands. The basic tracks were recorded in Long Branch, New Jersey in April and the work has continued in the Mansion Studiet in Copenhagen.
Right now D-A-D is headlining the Grøn Koncert and the band reveals that a few of the new songs are on the setlist. If the green caravan doesn’t stop in your city you can listen to a pre-mix of the new and almost finished song “Revolution” on MySpace.
Release date for “Monster Philosophy” is November 10th.

One of the bands from the late ’80’s early 90’s glam metal scene, that has been long forgotten about by most is Hollywood, CA’s Funhouse.
The band released one CD, back in 1990, and pretty much vanished shortly thereafter. On Generation Generator, you get 5 studio tracks, and 3 live cuts. I though this was kind of odd mixture, especially for a new band starting out.
Funhouse’s sound falls somewhere between Motley Crue, Skid Row and maybe a dash of Ugly Kid Joe. They weren’t as good as any of those bands, but they do have a solid sound that I found enjoyable. This disc isn’t breaking any new ground musically, and it kind of short, with it clocking in just shy of 33 minutes. 80’s and 90’s Glam metal fans will probably love this disc. It is a fun disc of partying hair metal tunes, that is still worth a few spins in 2008 and beyond.
Generation Generator has been out of print for quite a while, but you can still snag some copies of this disc from Amazon.com for a reasonable price. If you like what you hear, grab a copy of this disc, before they are all gone.
In 2008, Chris, Marc and Joe E. are playing together in a band called Hazard Los Angeles. Funhouse did a reunion show in 2002. I doubt we have heard the last from this Hollywood band. For more information on Funhouse, check out their myspace page.

The cover artwork for METALLICA‘s new album, “Death Magnetic”, can be viewed above.
In an interview conducted yesterday (Wednesday, July 16) by VG TV at the opening show of the second leg of METALLICA‘s European summer tour in Bergen, Norway, guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield stated about the new album title, “‘Death Magnetic’, at least the title, to me, it’s… It had something to do with… It started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like Layne Staley [ALICE IN CHAINS] and a lot of the people that have died, basically — rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there. Thinking about death… some people are drawn towards it, and just like a magnet, some people are drawn towards it, [and] other people are afraid of it and push away. And the concept that we’re all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about — no one wants to bring it up; it’s the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point. So that’s kind of the subject matter.”
METALLICA has announced that every song “Death Magnetic” will be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on the same date that the record arrives in stores, reports The Pulse of Radio. A post at the band’s official web site stated, “It’s a first in both music and gaming…The same day that ‘Death Magnetic’ hits the streets, you’ll be able to download every song from the album for Guitar Hero III! We are so psyched that we’ll be the first out of the gate with this simultaneous release…Who knows?! Maybe a few years from now this will be the norm when your favorite band’s new record comes out.”
The post added that “Death Magnetic” will also be available for the new World Tour edition of Guitar Hero, which is due out this fall.
Rumors of an all-METALLICA edition of Guitar Hero have been making the rounds recently, but the game’s publishers have not confirmed this.
“Death Magnetic” is due out in September and was produced by METALLICA and Rick Rubin.
A deluxe box set edition of the album will be available in the U.S. The coffin box package will contain one CD featuring the album, another containing demos, a behind-the-scenes DVD, an exclusive T-shirt, a METALLICA flag, a collection of guitar picks, codes for a special live download and a poster.
The coffin box will only be available through Metallica.com, MetClub.com, and MissionMetallica.com.
Several other editions of “Death Magnetic” will also be offered for sale through the Mission: Metallica site, including an all-digital version and a high-end edition featuring five vinyl LPs and a lithograph.
METALLICA‘s next U.S. date is the one-day Ozzfest on August 9 in Dallas, with a full North American tour slated to begin in October.

SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery has issued the following update:
“Wow! We just got back from our trip over to Germany, Qatar and Afghanistan entertaining the troops. Which truthfully they entertained the hell out of us. First off we’re coming off a two day transit that started in Afghanistan that ended here in Atlanta for most of us and to say that the flights were long and delayed would be an understatement. I’m still in that dream state from lack of sleep. Between the time changes, different flights etc. it’s gonna be a few days before we pull it together and by the time we do we leave again to go back out which is par for the course for Sevendust.
I’m still processing everything we just went through over there so I’ll do my best to give you guys a preview of everything. First off, the trip started in Germany at a base there that housed a lot of families of deployed soldiers. We played a full on electric set that was cool but a lil strange at first because we saw alot of kids on shoulders and a family kinda of vibe and here we come out like CANNIBAL CORPSE. But turned out very emotional because of the words said by Lajon (Witherspoon) and the flag we were presented at the end of the show by some of the soldiers. After that show we continued over to another base in Germany and did another electric show. Both were very cool but now’s where it gets a lil interesting.
We leave to Qatar which is pronounced a few different ways by the troops but we liked the Cutter way of pronouncing! We land at night there and step off the plane at nice comfortable 105 temp. Sucked the wind out of your lungs the second we stepped off the plane. Walk through the airport and saw a lot of people staring at us with a ‘why the hell are you here and we want to kill you’ look on their face. Apparently Americans with piercings, tatts and southern accents aren’t the desired visitors of the middle east. We could feel the stares of hate on us in the custom line which for me was kinda scary. We were not in our comfort zone to say the least. After getting through customs we’re met on the other side by a couple soldiers that immediately greeted us with a nevermind them asshole greetings welcome. One of the soldiers that met us was named Cook and he was blinged out and funny as hell. He made us feel comfortable right off the bat. Both of the guys that picked us up started giving us info on the country, the war and everything else we asked which was a million questions. We got to the base in Qatar(cutter) which is a huge base there where soldiers go for a few days for RnR. No not rock n roll. That’d be too corny. Rest and recoup. Anyway, we spent two days there hanging and playing an acoustic show.
Next we go to fly to Afghanistan and we are soon to learn that no military flights they have us on leave on time for us. We’re pretty much a lil higher on the priority list than the mail and not much but they are fighting a war over there so we don’t mind. After we get through Qatar customs we get on a plane called a C17 which is a work horse plane they use to transport cargo from place to place. We were happy to get on that because the other option was a C130 which from what we here was a brutal ride. Anyway, got a chance to ride in the cockpit of the flight into Afghanistan and parts of the flight which was amazing. We were a lil nervous flying into here because as most of you know this is where a lot of the activity of the war is taking place.
We arrive after they do a combat landing which is a landing the planes do to avoid a straight approach and avoid any firing upon. Not your typical landing at all. We get there and after we land we get sorted out in our room which is what was referred to as the Bee Hut! All of us in a room with bunk beds. Oh before I forget we had a guy named Ben that was sent there to help guide us through all of this and work alongside Chris our tour manager during this, which was amazing by the way, that was with us the whole time. Anyway, right when we got settled in we had to take part in a falling soldier ceremony that they do when they lose a soldier there. Everyone on the base lines up on the streets of the base completely silent, hands behind back as the flagged covered casket goes through the streets and is saluted by the soldiers as it passes. It was very sad and made the war very real for us. Very powerful and made us realize what these men and woman are facing everyday over there.
After that we began hanging with the soldiers, meeting different Generals, shooting guns, riding to other bases on smaller planes, doing crazier combat landings, eating with the troops, playing acoustic shows where every person in the audience had a firearm, drinking a lot of water and basically being apart of their world for a few weeks. There’s soo much more I could go into but I’m sure the other guys in the band will post on here with even better details of our experience.
For me it was a very spiritual experience that I will never forget and look forward to doing again. I left with no acoustic guitars because during our last performance I gave one soldier a guitar and invited the same guy to smash another one to give our acoustic show a electric vibe. LOL!
We thank the troops and everyone else we met for being such amazing hosts and allowing us the chance to do our part and entertain those incredible people there. We love you and pray for a safe return for all of you!

The following was posted on Bret Michaels blog:
We can officially announce that Bret and Ambre are over! And what’s more, there’s a new installment of Rock of Love on the way! This time, Bret’s taking his show on the road…literally! Per the press release of Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels (coming in early 2009):
Rock star Bret Michaels tried twice to find love by filling a mansion with gorgeous women and having them compete for his heart. But after the final pass was handed out and the cameras stopped rolling, Bret’s picks didn’t work out. He and season two winner, Ambre Lake, really tried to make it work and although they still remain close friends, between his tour line-up and her work schedule there’s no time for a relationship.
“Bret has been very upfront and honest about how difficult maintaining a normal relationship may be for a touring rock star. He’s right, it’s absolutely an insane lifestyle and neither of us had the time to make it work,” stated Lake.
Now Bret is taking another stab at finding his perfect match in the ultimate rock and roller’s test…life on the road! Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels is set to premiere in early 2009.
“Seasons one and two of Rock of Love shattered ratings records and VH1 is so happy to have Bret back for another outrageous season. This time we’ll reveal Bret in his most comfortable setting- the infamous rock star tour bus.” said Jeff Olde, VH1’s Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Production.
“We are excited to hit the road for another season of Rock of Love,” commented Executive Producers Mark Cronin & Cris Abrego, “Nobody knows their way around a tour bus like Bret Michaels, and we are confident that the audience will enjoy the ride.”
How will Bret find a woman to ‘rock his world’ when his world is always moving? VH1 is loading up a tour bus filled with beautiful babes and taking them on tour across the country. Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels takes contestants out of the mansion and on the road in true rock star style. This season will feature all-new ladies vying for Bret’s affection while traveling across America following Bret on a month-long tour. The contestants will face new challenges to see if they can handle the rock star life on the road.
This time as the bus pulls into each new city, the girls will engage in challenges specifically revolving around Bret’s life on the road. Whether it’s greeting aggressive groupies with a smile, enduring grueling schedules, dodging the advances of the warm-up band or even stepping in last-minute to fill in for delinquent roadies – these girls will be put to the test. This season, as the Rock of Love Bus heads into America’s heartland, the show will be taking the viewer to a whole new level with crazy, fun, over-the-top challenges- imagine Truck Stop Olympics or a dance contest on top of the St. Louis Arch or even a BBQ cook-off beneath the World’s Largest Thermometer. And also, back by popular demand…Mud Bowl 3. Americana at it’s finest!
Reunited ’80s melodic heavy rock band DRIVER — featuring powerhouse vocalist Rob Rock (IMPELLITTERI, JOSHUA, WARRIOR, AVANTASIA, AXEL RUDI PELL) and acclaimed guitarist/producer Roy Z (BRUCE DICKINSON, HALFORD, JUDAS PRIEST, SEBASTIAN BACH, ROB ROCK, TRIBE OF GYPSIES, HELLOWEEN) — will release its debut album, “Sons Of Thunder”, on September 26 via Metal Heaven.

GLOBAL MUSIC are delighted to announce that they have signed established cult metal legends MARSHALL LAW to a long term deal on their imprint label, DR2 RECORDS and will release the eagerly anticipated sixth studio album RAZORHEAD in October this year.
Vocalist ANDY PYKE added,
Despite having the new album finished and mastered for the last twelve months, we chose to hold out for the right deal with the right label. We would like to thank our fans for their patience and are delighted to be working with Ged and Eric at Global Music. We believe that this is the right label to take the band forward. We’re looking forward to working with them and can’t wait to get back out on the road to promote the album.
Buckcherry has a new video, for their song Too Drunk. This is the first single off of their new album, Black Butterfly that is due in September.
Fans of 80’s style Hair Metal rejoice. Rockarma released a cd earlier this year that will Rock your world. It is their second cd, titled “Bring It!” and is absolutely an incredible piece of work.
For some reason, this cd has escaped notice by the mainstream….but after a quick listen to the myspace tunes you will want to put “Bring It!” in your library for sure.
From the very first tune, “Badjune”, sit up and take notice. Rockarma’s music is so tight, so melodic and so perfect that you will be projected back in time. Back to an era when good-time, rock-hard, party-hard, bring-on-the-girls type Rock N Roll ruled. And if you didn’t grow up in that era, “Bring It!” will make you will wish that you did!
“Get Me Outta This Hole” is the obligatory anthem song that every Hair Metal band places on their cd, and this example is just killer.
The title track “Bring It!” tells a short tale of success, which is exactly what this entire cd encompasses.
And the last tune on the cd, “Same Ol Song” is a wonderfully bluesy effort that will leave you with two thoughts racing through your mind:
“This was a great cd that I’ve gotta play it again right now!” and “Man! I can’t wait to hear what Rockarma does next!”
While the four tracks mentioned above are my favorites, make no mistake, every song is of the highest quality in both musicianship and production.
This four man, Canadian band has given us a CD with all the qualities to make it a choice for top Rock cd of the year.

Singer Liz Lascivious has posted the following on Leaded Fuel’s blog today:
Good evening folks! It’s been a while now since I posted something here or even went online with this profile. But now I finally have internet connection in my new flat so here I am, back in business! As you probably know, there’s been lots of stuff going on the past months with the recording and release of “Inhale and get pale”, two tours abroad and god knows how much planning and hard work to get everything together! Our lovely manager Kate has been taking care of this profile a lot while I’ve been busy and we all owe her a big thanks for that!
So now when we have some kind of summer vacation we took that oppurtunity to plan for our glorious future. Andy Jones has been our bass player since day one and stayed with us through all gigs, recordings and tours. Evolving into a pretty good bass player over time. Still, we couldn’t help to feel more and more that he wasn’t the right guy for our future missions. We felt that we needed a guy of different character with a different style of playing. So I decided to take a chance and ask the best bass player I know in Stockholm – only the best is good enough for us – Rick-y, the bass player of Jailbait and formerly Sharp. Fortunately he liked the idea and was very positive from the start. We have done two rehearsals together now and feel that there’s really no need for more time to think. This guy suits us perfectly and we can hardly wait to go out on the road with him! To make a famous movie quote “This seems like the beginning of a beautiful friendship”
I also might add that there wasn’t any hard feelings from Andy, he accepted the decision and said that he had plans of quitting anyhow, working with his own musical project. I guess we all had that feeling, wich made the decision easier.
So here he is, the new pulse of Leaded Fuel: Rick-y!
Add and greet him at: www. myspace. com/rickwhy
