Multi-Platinum Artist 3 Doors Down adds Lancaster rock band Negative Space to their lineup on their September 13th performance at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. They will start the night of rock off at 6:30pm followed by other chart toppers Finger Eleven, Hinder and 3 Doors Down.
Negative Space has been touring to promote their recently released album “Storylines.” With increasing exposure from playing with other major acts Alter Bridge (Former members of CREED) and Breaking Benjamin, this small town band from PA are ready for the big time. They are profiled in Revolver Magazine and the first single “Honestly” has received regional radio spins as well as rotation on Music Choice and AOL Radio.
Negative Space has reached the pinnacle in their songwriting with songs that deliver guitar-driven rock with the lyrics of maturity that reach fans young and old. Their intense blend of mainstream rock and indie-pop hooks are delivered with raw punk energy. Their style unites the mature driven rock songs of the likes of Foo Fighters with the energy and stage show of Green Day.
Blabbermouth.net is reporting that WARRIOR SOUL, the band fronted by legendary singer Kory Clarke, is the latest act to announce (jokingly or not) that it has selected “Chinese Democracy” — the name of the perennially delayed new GUNS N’ ROSES LP — as the title of its new album. The CD will be available exclusively at shows on WARRIOR SOUL’s forthcoming U.S. tour, which begins on October 16 at the Double Door in Chicago, Illinois.
WARRIOR SOUL’s “Chinese Democracy” will receive its retail release in January. UK fans will also have an opportunity to buy the album at shows during WARRIOR SOUL’s UK tour in December.
This is the first WARRIOR SOUL studio album to include the new lineup featuring;
Kory Clarke – Vocals
Rille Lundell – Guitar
Johnny H – Guitar
Janne Jarvis – Bass
Rob “Stevo” Stephenson – Drums
Recorded and written over a five-week period in Stockholm, Sweden and in the UK, WARRIOR SOUL’s “Chinese Democracy” was produced by Clarke, Lundell and Jarvis.
Stated Clarke: “I’m really proud of this album. It’s been great to make another WARRIOR SOUL record and this line up is the best I’ve ever had.” He continued, “People have been waiting for a long time to hear this record and I’m thrilled to finally release ‘Chinese Democracy‘.”
Co-producer and bassist Janne Jarvis had this to say: “This is an exciting, vital collection of songs. It’s unadulterated and uncompromising. It is essential WARRIOR SOUL.”
Songtitles set to appear on WARRIOR SOUL’s “Chinese Democracy” include “Motor City”, “Bad News (Rock ‘n’ Roll Boyfriend)”, “Fuck The Pigs” and “No Respect”.
WARRIOR SOUL’s current lineup has successfully toured Europe over the last two years and reports from both fans and media suggest that this is the band’s strongest formation yet.
Video footage of WARRIOR SOUL performing the song “Let’s Get Wasted” at Ace of Clubs in New York City on May 31, 2008 can be viewed below. The show marked WARRIOR SOUL’s first American concert in twelve years.
WARRIOR SOUL released a live album on April 14, 2008 through Livewire/Cargo Records. Entitled “Live In England”, the CD was recorded in London during the band’s October 2007 tour.
“Live In England” features many of the classic songs from the “Last Decade Dead Century”, “Drugs, God And The New Republic”, “Salutations From The Ghetto Nation”, “Space Age Playboys” and “Chill Pill” albums as well as a brand new song entitled “Bad News (Rock ‘n’ Roll Boyfriend)”.

Lion’s Dangerous Attraction has been a compact disc that was my achilles’ heel, so to speak. I have been trying to track down a copy of this CD for close to a year now, and finally snagged a copy of eBay. Why should I (or anyone else) care about the band Lion? This is the some of the earliest recorded work by current Whitesnake guitarist, Doug Aldrich. If you own the new Whitesnake CD, Good To Be Bad, you are well aware of the kind of awesome axeman Doug Aldrich is.
Aside from Aldrich, the rest of Lion is pretty impressive. This band also features Kal Swan from the band Tytan, and drummer Mark Edwards from Steeler. Dangerous Attraction is considered by many as Lion’s best work, and I would not disagree. The music on Dangerous Attraction is fairly typical 80’s hair metal, but it is really good stuff. I would describe Lion’s sound as a cross between RATT and Whitesnake.
Swan’s voice is fairly unique. His English accent propelled by his deep throaty screams and melodic tones makes this music stand out. Aldrich’s guitar work on Dangerous Attraction is superb. This guy was shredding like no tomorrow 21 years ago, and is still getting it done today. His talent shines on this album, and as a result there isn’t a band song on Dangerous Attraction.
Lion is one of the lesser know acts of the 80’s and this CD, has been out of print for a long time. Copies of the CD turn up on eBay from time to time, but they usually sell for crazy amounts. If you are fan of Swan or Aldrich, this disc is worth seeking out. 80’s hair metal fans will like this too.
You can listen to a couple of the songs off of this album below.
Rating:Out of 10
Kal Swan – Vocals
Doug Aldrich – Guitars
Jerry Best – Bass
