Munich based label AOR Heaven is happy to announce the signing of Norwegian Melodic Rock legends STAGE DOLLS for the territory of Europe (without Scandinavia). The band is currently in the studio working on their yet untitled release which will appear in stores in Spring 2009. Today, STAGE DOLLS exist of founding members Torstein Flakne (v., g.) and Terje Storli (b.) plus drummer Morten Skogstadt (ex TNT) who joined the band in 1992.
Founded in 1983 in Trondheim, Norway STAGE DOLLS belong to the veterans of the Norwegian Rock scene and also are one of the most successful bands coming out of this country up to today. Albums such as “Soldiers Gun” (1983), “Commandos” (1986) and “Stage Dolls” (1989) still belong to the favorites of many classic Hard Rock fans and – next to their close buddies TNT – made them become the leading force in Norway when it comes to Rock Music. In their 25 year long existence, STAGE DOLLS have in total released six studio albums, numerous compilations and live records, and been on the road permamently as headliner – mainly in Norway – and as support band for MR. BIG, TNT, BLUE MURDER, WARRANT, FASTER PUSSYCAT and many others. STAGE DOLLS also wrote and recorded the club anthem for Norway’s leading soccer club Rosenborg Trondheim.
Torstein Flakne comments: “We’re really looking forward to come to Germany and play in January. It’s been a long time since we were there so it will be a thrill to meet our fans. The new album will be ready in the Spring of 2009 and we are very pleased so far with the recordings.”
STAGE DOLLS will play their first gig in Germany since more than 20 years on January 31st, 2009 at the Rock Over Munich Festival at the Metropolis Club in Munich, Germany. At this occasion, we will host a listening session during the show day and give you an exclusive pre-listening premiere of the new song material! For more infos on the event: www.rockovermunich.de

There is a change to the bill for KISW‘s annual Holiday Hangover Ball, to be held this Friday, December 12, 2008 at Showbox SoDo in Seattle, Washington. Original headliners SALIVA who were scheduled to play, have been forced to cancel due to an unexpected health scare of lead singer Josey Scott.
In following with the annual tradition of delivering the Northwest’s best holiday party, KISW was forced to come up with a replacement for SALIVA.QUEENSRŸCHE will come to the rescue and take the stage at this year’s event. Ticketholders will be treated to a rare acoustic set with members ofQUEENSRŸCHE plus Duff McKagan‘s (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N’ ROSES) LOADED and JET BLACK STARE along with all the other fun and excitement you’ve come to expect at a KISW Holiday Hangover Ball.
The organizers state: “If you have purchased tickets to see SALIVA at theHoliday Hangover Ball, DON’T LOSE YOUR TICKET. SALIVA will return to Seattle when Josey‘s health permits, and your 2008 HHB ticket will get you entrance to that show for free. You essentially will be able to enjoy both this year’s Holiday Hangover Ball and a SALIVA show for the price of the ticket you purchased.”
We know you join us in wishing Josey a speedy recovery, and thanking Queensryche for stepping up and helping save the day.
Official statement from Saliva management:
We’re regretful to announce that Saliva will not be able to perform at KISW’s 2008 Holiday Hangover due to an unexpected health scare of lead singer Josey Scott. He was hospitalized Monday evening due to an irregular heartbeat. The band was scheduled to depart for the nationally syndicated radio show Rockline when Scott noticed a fluttering in his heart that didn’t seem right. The paramedics were called and he was taken to a local hospital where he spent the next four nights. His diagnosis was cardiac arrhythmia, which in some cases can be life threatening. His heartbeat was stabilized Wednesday afternoon and is under doctor’s orders for several days of no travel and rest. The band prides themselves to be a hard working act who has rarely ever missed a performance. They apologize to the fans in the Seattle area for this unfortunate situation. There will definitely be a make up show in 2009.
Here is some news people have been waiting a long time to hear.
DANGER DANGER’s Bruno Ravel has issued the following update on the band’s next album:
“Ted (Poley) has completed five basic vocal tracks and will be returning in a few weeks to sing some more. We plan to finish all the recording in January and then we will finally start to mix!”
A release is tentatively planned for April/May 2009 through Frontiers Records. More details will be revealed soon.
The Infinite Staircase, the Staten Island, New York-based rock/metal band featuring Sebastian Bach’s son Paris Bierk on drums, has been added to the “The Black Label Bash” tour featuring headliners Black Label Society alongside Sevendust and Dope. The tour begins on March 22nd in St. Paul, Minnesota, reports blabbermouth.net
Brothers Lenny and Jeff Cerzosie formed the basis for what would ultimately become The Infinite Staircase around 2001-2002. Now joined by fellow musicians Paris Bierk (Severed Hand) on drums and Jared Hreha on bass, the band is working harder than ever to bring its dreams to reality and its music to the masses.
In the past few years alone, the group has independently managed to get featured on Fuse TV, perform on former “Saturday Night Live” comedian Jim Breuer’s Sirius Satellite Radio show, get featured in the March 2008 issue of Metal Edge magazine (with a song being used on that issue’s CD sampler) as well as open for the likes of Candlebox, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Hellyeah, Sevendust, Alter Bridge, Otep, Bloodsimple, W.A.S.P., L.A. Guns, White Lion, Lillian Axe, Eddie Ojeda of Twisted Sister, and many more.
The Infinite Staircase plans to release its debut album, tentatively titled “The Road Less Taken,” in early 2009 and has already landed guest appearances by former Poison band member and guitar virtuoso Blues Saraceno as well as the legendary guitarist Earl Slick (currently of the David Bowie band and Slinky Vagabond).

The band line-up is as it was on 2000’s Revelation and 1992’s Symbol of Salvation: John Bush (vocals), Jeff Duncan (guitars), Phil Sandoval (guitars), Joey Vera (bass) and Gonzo (drums).
The band has written close to 12 songs as of now and are ready to enter the recording studio in the next month or so.
Some working titles include: ‘Loose Cannon’, ‘Chilled’, ‘La Raza’ and ‘Black Feet’.
The band plans on entering the studio with bassist Joey Vera handling the engineering and producing duties.

Aside from the co-headline tour in Australia in March with DEATH ANEL and the headlining of the Keep it True Festival in Germany in April, the band has no further shows booked at this time. There are a few festivals in Europe during summer being looked at for booking but no confirmations as of yet.

This Saturday, December 13, Bay Area thrash legends TESTAMENT will be taking over the airwaves on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball. Along with their brand-new video for “More Than Meets The Eye,” HBB will also be airing never-before-seen footage from the band’s shoot at Alcatraz in San Francisco. “More Than Meets The Eye” was produced by Kevin Custer (Kingdom of Sorrow, Beneath The Massacre).
Six TESTAMENT art pieces, performances, and videos will be intertwined with all the videos that air on Headbangers Ball, which airs Saturday night at 2AM Eastern / 1AM Central.
Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson recently commented on Headbangersblog.com about their new video: “We haven’t had a new video out for a long time, since ‘Low’ in ’94. Our new video is for ‘More Than Meets the Eye’, and it was created by Kevin Custer who’s worked with Kingdom of Sorrow and Beneath the Massacre among others. It was really fun working with Kevin. He really worked in tandem with the band’s vision and took it to the next level.
“The band went to LA and shot performance footage in front of a green screen, then Kevin turned that footage into mayhem with some “Formation of Damnation” happening in the background. We’re happy with it as our first video. We look forward to doing more videos and getting into a concept. We’re definitely pleased to have this represent us for the first one from the new record.
“The feel of the video is more about unearthing the demons within and the terror that wrath can incite. And as the song progresses, the mayhem takes over – a reflection of what is inside the band and the music we create… More Than Meets the Eye.”
Produced by Kevin J. Custer of Toaster In The Tub, “More Than Meets The Eye” adds to TESTAMENT’s scorching scene-returning campaign that has included the following highlights:
– participation on the North American Metal Masters summer tour with Judas Priest, Heaven & Hell, and Motörhead
– being showcased on MTV’s 52/52 Artist Of The Week
– debuting at 59 on the Billboard Top 200 chart for selling over 11,500 copies of The Formation Of Damnation the first week of release
– clinching the 1 slot on the FMQB and CMJ radio charts for several consecutive weeks
– winning Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods Award for “Best Album of 2008”
– album awarded 1 in Metal Maniacs’ Top 20 of 2008 Critics’ Picks list
– Most played album on metal radio for 2008 (FMQB)
Be sure to tune in this Saturday for exclusive new Testament footage!

FIRST EVER ROCK SHOW @ The War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco
Co- Headlining is Dweezil Zappa performing Zappa Plays Zappa
Opening is Critically Acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Tim Fite
Les Claypool, infamous bassist and mastermind of the legendary band Primus will add yet another feather of creative genius to his hat. As a showman of colossal proportion, Claypool has created a visual and aural extravaganza in 3-D of the unexpected for his debut at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco. This is the first ever rock show to take place at the War Memorial Opera House home to housing the opera and ballet
The Opera House is one of the most beautiful venues in Northern California, and this is the first ever rock concert there. The box seats, usually reserved for ballet or opera season ticket holders, offer a unique viewing experience for groups of 8, including a private vestibule, waitress service and souvenir poster.
Les Claypool rose to fame in the early 90’s as leader of the multi platinum alt rock band Primus. Taking his funk derived mastery of the electric bass and witty story songs, he dove into the jamband scene in 2000. Primus headlined their annual New Year’s Eve Freak Out in the Bay Area from 1992-99, and Claypool has continued the tradition in the Bay Area ever since. His midnight climaxes are legendary and always over the top. Thematically manifesting everything from a band of cave man circa Quest For Fire to a parade of costumed freaks, Claypool takes great pride in his New Years Eve performances and extras. This year’s show will present unparalleled 3D visuals, with 3D glasses included in the ticket as well as other interesting antics that only Claypool himself could derive.
Zappa Plays Zappa has received rave reviews for the last few years, as Dweezil has carried on his father’s legacy. The music of Frank Zappa couldn’t be in better hands than the high level of musicianship collected in this group which includes some alumni from the original band (Ray White, also of KVHW).
This show marks the first ever appearance of a Zappa on the same bill with Claypool. He and Primus have often been compared to Frank, and Primus guitarist Larry LaLonde was recruited by Rykodisc several years ago to compile a Zappa Picks compilation of his favorites from Frank’s catalogue.

Well the big day with MONSTER CIRCUS came and went fast, and it was simply amazing. No one really knew what to expect (including me) but the idea of having great players rocking on stage backed by a totally cool Vegas style experience was pulled off without a glitch at the HILTON in Las Vegas on December 9th.
Monster Circus was formed by Tony Montana (who played bass in Great White but is also a fantastic singer and lead guitarist), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot and many more) and John Corabi, who needs no introduction for my fans. These three asked Bobby Rock (Nelson, Slaughter, Vinnie Vincent Invasion) to play drums and myself to join them on stage, with Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) and Dave Kushner (Velvet Revolver) as the special guests to play 9 classic hits along with a great show that included fire breathers, pyro, dancers and tight rope style performances in a totally Vegas over-the-top manner.

According to RollingStone.com another Van Halen tour rider has been unearthed.
We finally have proof of the mother of all insane tour rider demands, Van Halen’s request for “No Brown M&M,” thanks to the Smoking Gun. Written in 1982 and coming in at an astounding 53 pages, the band’s oddball demands range from “herring in sour cream,” countless bottles of alcohol and a “large tube of KY jelly.” But it’s in the rider’s “Munchies” section where we find “M&Ms (Warning: Absolutely No Brown Ones),” meaning someone at each venue was given the job of plucking the brown M&Ms away from their yellow, green and orange candy-shelled counterparts. Keep in mind, this is 1982, so there were actually two shades of brown M&Ms at the time, with the standard brown and tan, which was eventually eliminated to make way for blue. That infamous request for no brown M&Ms spawned both an urban legend (now confirmed) and a joke in Wayne’s World 2. Why the outlandish demand? According to the Smoking Gun, “If brown M&M’s were in the backstage candy bowl, Van Halen surmised that more important aspects of a performance–lighting, staging, security, ticketing–may have been botched by an inattentive promoter.” Nowadays, Van Halen has moved away from banning brown M&Ms and instead request normal things like tutors and room to practice martial arts.
Chart-topping hard-rock band Disturbed have announced a winter leg of their headlining North American tour in support of their current album, the nearly platinum Indestructible. The tour begins January 16th, 2009, in Milwaukee, WI, and crisscrosses the country before finishing up in Utica, NY, on February 27th. Sevendust and Skindred will appear as support.
Disturbed are riding high with their first-ever Grammy Award nomination in the “Best Hard Rock Performance” category for Indestructible’s first single “Inside the Fire,” which set a record when it spent 16 weeks atop the Active Rock Radio chart. Their new single/title track, “Indestructible,” currently sit at No. 2 on Billboard’s Active Rock chart.
The self-produced Indestructible debuted at Number One on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart and remained in the Top 10 for five weeks. It is the band’s third consecutive Number One album, following their platinum-sellers Believe (2002) and Ten Thousand Fists (2005), making Disturbed one of only six rock bands in history to score three consecutive Number One debuts with studio albums. Formed in Chicago in 1996, Disturbed have sold a collective 10 million albums worldwide.

In recent years, bassist Gene Simmons has been vocal about his lack of enthusiasm about making a new album, which he attributes to the state of the business.
“The record industry is in such a mess,” he told Billboard in November 2007. “There is nothing in me that wants to go in there and do new music. How are you going to deliver it? How are you going to get paid for it if people can just get it for free?”
In 2006, Stanley told Billboard making a new Kiss album in the shadow of the band’s classic repertoire would be a formidable challenge. “The fact is, [fans] may tolerate the new songs, but it’s the old ones you want to hear,” he said. “I think Jimmy Page and Robert Plant found that out. The [Rolling] Stones certainly know it. The Who certainly know it. So unless you’re willing to go into the studio accepting that how your album will be received will never match your expectations, I’m not sure it’s worth the effort.”
Stanley admitted complete control would change his mind. “I would consider doing it if I could do it the way I wanted to do it,” he explained, adding that his 2006 solo album “Live To Win” confirmed how he’d “like music to sound that I’m a part of. To do another Kiss album, I would not be willing to compromise my point of view perhaps as much as I have in recent years.”
It’s unknown how Kiss will distribute the album, which will feature original members Stanley and Simmons alongside guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer.
Following its 35th anniversary tour, which primarily played Europe this summer, Kiss is expected to hit North America at some point in 2009.
In Honor Of Michelle Meldrum
MELDRUM’s drummer, Gene Hoglan, announced the completion of recording their new album, entitled LIFER, consisting of ten tracks for 2009 release.
The new album stands as a proud tribute to founder, Michelle Meldrum, who passed away earlier this year. The album contains material written by both Meldrum and Hoglan, with new member’s bassist Laura Christine and vocalist Michele Madden.
LIFER is sonically different in direction than anything previously released by the band. With new life, and new talent, this album has carried the talents these four have to a higher level.
“Let me say this: Never have I obsessed over the recording of any album I’ve been involved in as I have with MELDRUM‘s latest,” explains Hoglan. “The tragic circumstances that took Michelle from us, also provided us with a laser-sharp focus to record the most amazing album we could. Michele Madden, Laura Christine, and hell, even Chicken, our engineer, put forth performances of a lifetime, with each member’s full love and respect going into every nuance of every song. Not only to honor Michelle, but to also lay down some badass music, which was ultimately what she stood for…what MELDRUM stands for. I think the songs speak for themselves, and I, for one, have never been prouder to be a part of a family, let alone a project such as this. Metal with balls. Crank it up, indeed.”
MELDRUM plans to unveil previews from their studio sessions on their Myspace in coming weeks, with news on the new release, music videos and tours forthcoming.
Billboard.com is reporting that Bon Jovi’s Lost Highway tour tops the list of the biggest tours for 2008, based on data reported to Billboard Boxscore from Nov. 14, 2007, through Nov. 11, 2008. The trek, promoted in North America and Europe by AEG Live, grossed $210.6 million and drew 2,157,675 fans.
In second place is Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band’s Magic tour, which grossed $204.5 million for the period. Springsteen reported another $31 million for last year, taking his two-year Boxscore total to more than $235 million.
Rounding out the top 10 are Madonna ($162 million for the still-underway Sticky & Sweet tour), the Police ($150 million on the second leg of their reunion tour), Celine Dion ($91 million), Kenny Chesney ($86 million), Neil Diamond ($81.2 million), Spice Girls ($70 million), Eagles ($56.6 million) and Rascal Flatts ($55.8 million).
The Spice Girls’ 17 sellouts at the O2 Arena last December-January were the highest-grossing engagement of the year, taking in $33.8 million and drawing 256,647. Other top Boxscores for the year were Celine Dion at the Bell Centre in Montreal ($23.1 million), Madonna at Stade de France in Paris ($17.6 million), Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tenn. (about $17 million), and Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. ($14.2 million).
For the overall touring industry, grosses reported to Billboard Boxscore totaled slightly less than $4 billion worldwide, the most ever for a year and up almost 13% over last year.
But global reported concert attendance is virtually flat, with 6% fewer shows. And North American concert attendance is down nearly 2%, after a nearly 20% decrease last year, continuing a troubling trend. Better news is evident on a show-by-show basis; the average box office gross in North America is up 18% and average attendance is up 6.3%, reflecting that some of the attendance decline can be attributed to a decrease in the overall show count.
Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx turned 50 today!
Happy Birthday Nikki!
Backyard Babies has previously released “Minus Celsius” out on Guitar Hero III. Now Guitar Hero World Tour is out and today we are excited to confirm that “Degenerated” will be released as download for this game on 30th December.
It’s so f*cking funny to be a part of this again. Degenerated is the perfect song for the game! The plastic guitar will melt!! says Dregen.
I have known about the band White Flame for over a year now, but their CD, “Yesterday’s News”, was not available in the United States until now.
I originally posted White Flame’s video, “Hour of Emptiness” in the HRH Segment, “Sink or Swim”. The folks that voted all said let it swim unanimously, making White Flame’s Yesterday’s News, Hard Rock Hideout’s first Sink or Swim Winner.
As far as hard rock goes, I love it when a band just gets it, and White Flame does just that. The band cranks their Marshall amps up to ten, plays loud and plays hard. Yesterday’s News is a fine blend of funky, bluesy, kick ass hard rock. White Flame wears their influences on their sleeves on this disc. I can hear touches of Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, and maybe even Sweet F.A. (remember them?) on this disc.
There are a lot of good songs worth checking out on Yesterday’s News. “Gun” has this awesome groove that will get you headbanging instantly. “Swimsuit Issue Centerfold” is one of the coolest rocking tunes I have heard in a while. Some of my other favorites on this disc are “Kill The Radio” and the title track, “Yesterday’s News” and the awesome ballad “Miss U”.
White Flame’s “Yesterday’s News” isn’t breaking any new musical ground, but if you are a fan of the 80’s era of hard rock, you are bound to love this. This is a hard rock record that needs to be heard by all! On a side note, not only is the CD good, but the ultra cool digipak comes with a booklet that folds out into a mini news paper with song lyrics, photos and more. I thought this was a nice touch, especially from a new band.
The Bottom Line, White Flame is a killer new band with a very good debut record on their hands. If they play their cards right, they will be anything but “Yesterday’s News”. Check them out on myspace at this link.
3. The World We Live In
4. Swimsuit Issue Centerfold

Proclaimed in Metal Edge magazine to be the “hardest working band in Boston ,” Mongrel is slated to hit the studio in the coming weeks to begin work on the follow up to their debut album “Fear, Lies, & Propaganda.” The yet untitled new album will again be released on Screaming Ferret Wreckords and will be engineered by Tim Koukos (whose prior work includes Nuclear Assault & Meliah Rage) and mixed by Jeff Wallace (whose prior work includes Biohazard, Pro Pain, & End of an Era).
“Since we recorded the last album we’ve been really busy with shows throughout the North Eastern, Mid-West, and Mid-Atlantic states and have expanded our fan base playing shows with The Misfits, GWAR, Otep, Prong, Wednesday13, Piggy D (Rob Zombie bassist), Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses keyboardist), Michale Graves, etc. so we’re really looking forward to finally taking the time to get back into the studio to record our next full length album and to work with Tim (Koukos) and Jeff (Wallace) to help take the recording to the next level” stated the punk/metal band’s founder, Adam Savage.
Mongrel is eyeing an early summer release for the new full length album with an EP to precede it this spring. While no titles for either release are decided, some of the songs expected to be on the next album include “Zombies of War”, “Tarnished Halo”, “Stillborn Savior”, and “Revisionist.” More extensive touring is expected to follow the release of the upcoming album.

Armed with a slew of tour dates for 2009, Black Tide are primed to continue to light up crowds across the globe in support of their Interscope Records debut album “Light From Above.” The band will be part of the Kerrang! Relentless Energy Drink Tour kicking off January 13th in Belfast, then will join Escape The Fate beginning February 5th in Pomona, CA and will play their first Vans Warped Tour this summer.
From their mainstage stints on OZZfest 2007 and the inaugural Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Tour 2008 alongside Slipknot and Disturbed, to touring with Avenged Sevenfold and Bullet For My Valentine, Black Tide have become vicious road dogs, chomping at the bit to destroy any stage they can. On stage, the band’s music explodes with a raw vitality.
RollingStone named Black Tide one of the “Best Rookies of 2008” and “Metal’s New Teen Titans,” while Spin labeled them one of “The Next Big Things,” and calling them a “Band To Watch,” Revolver featured Black Tide on the August 2008 cover. Kerrang! declared the band to be the “Best International Newcomer” in 2008. In addition, Black Tide producer Johnny K (Staind, 3 Doors Down) has garnered a 2008 Producer of the Year Grammy nomination for his recent body of work including the band’s album “Light From Above.”
Black Tide is Gabriel Garcia (vocals, lead guitar), Zakk Sandler (bass), Steven Spence (drums) and Austin Diaz (guitar). Crafting infectious no- nonsense heavy metal anthems, the Florida quartet have become an unstoppable road machine. Amps cranked and bus stocked, the band will bring their brand of riotous old school-inspired thrash to audiences stateside and beyond in 2009. Sandler comments, “We love playing live, and we’re going to give it our all, and more, every night.”
The video below is Black Tide performing live at the Mayhem Festival in August. Be sure to catch Black Tide live at one of the dates listed below!

Frontiers Records is more than pleased to announce the release of JSS latest release “Beautiful Mess” on February 20th in Europe.
JSS is an Artist who has graced many stages, a hybrid redolent of Soul, Pop, Rock, Blues and R&B influenced by luminaries such as Queen, Prince and Sam Cooke and a man who has proved, across the years that he can deliver all these genres well.
For many years JSS has been known to the world as Jeff Scott Soto. In a career spanning more than twenty years, beginning as the vocalist for guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen, leading to frontman for many bands including: Talisman, Soul SirkUS, the legendary Journey and more recently Trans Siberian Orchestra. In 2002 he set out on the long, arduous road of a solo career with the acclaimed album “Prism” and has released two solo albums since then, “Lost In The Translation” and now “Beautiful Mess”.
He came to the notice of many in the industry when he provided the lead vocals for the main character/singer of “Steel Dragon” in the Mark Wahlberg motion picture “Rock Star”. With an audience that comes from Europe, Asia, South America and North America, his appeal is about to be widened even further with this new highly commercial release.
In “Beautiful Mess” JSS blends the influences he grew up loving into one “beautiful mess” indeed; from the rocking soul of “21st Century”, to the sultry “Gin & Tonic Sky” through to the funk of “Bring It Home” and the Beatle-esque “Kick It”, JSS leaves no stone unturned in this release, pleasing fans old & new alike. “Beautiful Mess”, which is co-written & produced by the acclaimed Swedish artist/producer/writer Paulo Mendonça, is a turning point for JSS who recently dubbed by many as the “new hardest working man in show business” and this new album will find him touring the globe once again in the spring 2009.
If you like the bite of Lenny Kravitz, the sultriness of Seal, the smoothness of Sam Cooke & the rawness of the nostalgic 70’s rock ‘n’ soul, all mixed with a contemporary touch of today’s best music, then you need to take a listen to “Beautiful Mess” by JSS.
“Beautiful Mess” European release will include the following tracks:
21st Century; Cry Me A River; Gin & Tonic Sky; Hey; Broken Man; Mountain; Our Song; Eye; Bring It Home; Testify; Wherever You Wanna Go; Kick It; Heart Starts Healing (Bonus Track); Take U Over With Me (Bonus Track). 21st Century and Gin & Tonic Sky (videos – iPod ready versions). In addition to this, a DVD will be added as a special bonus and will include the full quality videos for “21st Century”, “Gin And Tonic Sky”, “Hey”, a specially filmed piano version of “Gin And Tonic Sky” and live footage recorded at the recent JSS exclusive appearance at the Firefest show in Notthingham UK, on October 25th 2008.
Frontiers Records and JSS would finally like to inform that a un-authorized bootleg version of the album has been circulating on the Internet and sold especially on eBay. Fans and distributors can easily spot the difference between the original version and the bootleg because of the different tracklisting. Frontiers and JSS do NOT support such release, are actively working to stop it and look forward to give the fans a PROPER product, which will also specially priced as regular 1CD set notwithstanding the addition of the bonus DVD.
2008 has introduced me to a plethora of new hard rock and metal music. For whatever reason, I have not picked up any Mudvayne releases until now. I recently heard Mudvayne’s new single, “Do What You Do”, and I liked that song well enough to check out their new CD, “The Game”.
Dave Fortman, who produced Mudvayne’s last album, “Lost and Found” returns to helm for “The New Game”. He has also previously worked on albums by Evanescence and more recently “All Hope is Gone” by Slipknot produced this disc. I am familiar with the discs that he has worked on, so I took the plunge, and purchased this CD.
I must admit, with Mudvayne’s image, I expected this to be a disc that was more heavy metal than anything else. Most of the time, “The New Game” is more hard rock than heavy metal, but it does have its heavy moments. When the band slows it down, they remind of Disturbed mixed with a bit of Slipknot. When they crank up the tempo, they nearly fall into that hard core style. Singer Chad Gray, is another one of those singers that can sing in a pure voice, and then change over to hard core like screams. Typically, I can’t stand hard core vocals, but with Gray, I can understand what he is singing, so that is a definite plus. He occasionally reminds of me of ex-Pantera front man, Phil Anselmo, so that is kind of cool.
“Fish Out of Water” is the first song that is half hard core, half hard rock. I didn’t like this song on the first spin, and while I have warmed up to it somewhat, I can still do without this one.
“Do What You Do” is the first single, and was my introduction to the band. I like this song pretty well, and there are more songs in this vein on “The New Game. “Have It Your Way” is one of the songs in the same style. This song has a really cool rhythm and seems tailor made for radio.
I can see the mosh pits breaking out for the title track “The New Game”. This is more of a hard core tune which is really not my cup of tea. I do like the heaviness of the song, but as a whole, this isn’t a tune that I can get into.
“Dull Boy” originally appeared on the Mudvayne compilation CD, “By The People, For the People”. Strangely enough, I have heard this on the radio a few times, but I never realized that it was a Mudvayne song. This is another solid tune on this disc.
“Never Enough” has that typical heavy rhythm guitar style of playing that is so common place with today’s rock acts. This reminds me a lot of Corey Taylor’s side project, “Stone Sour”. This is a nother song that will find its way on the radio.
“We The People” closes out “The New Game” with a hard hitting number that will ignite your inner head banger. Each time I play this tune, I like it more and more. This is as good of an album closer as I have heard all year.
After listening to this CD, I read what some long time Mudvayne fans have said about this disc, most of which was not nice. Most have not liked Mudvayne’s change of direction in sound. While I can’t comment on the bands’ past work, I liked the majority of the songs on “The New Game”. If you are a casual fan, you ought to give this band a chance, you might like what you hear. The music might not be completely original, but it is definitely worth giving a spin. I believe the more mainstream approach on “The New Game” will mak this Mudvayne’s most successful album to date.

SexTapes front man, Chris Pitman is a member of the legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses. Between playing multiple instruments (for studio recording and live in concert), co-writing and co-producing for the new GNR album, “Chinese Democracy,” he is also a co-writer with front man Axl Rose on the song, “If The World,” in the new Warner Bros. Pictures and Ridley Scott film, Body Of Lies. The interrelated relationship between the two bands means that all in-store SexTapes™ will also be available along with GNR at stores near you.
SexTapes consists of co-writer/founding member Kelly Wheeler on guitars, Marko Fox on bass, Ryan Brown on the drums and co-writer/producer Chris Pitman on lead vocals and guitar synth. The band originated out of sheer perverse amusement with a series of informal jams by Wheeler and Fox in a cluttered garage. There, amid a bewildering array of audio electronics in every conceivable state of condition, promising sonic experiments continued with slated vocalist Pitman’s enthusiastic blessings, even though he was about to embark on a mammoth tour as an integral part of Guns N’ Roses (GNR). In fact, in addition to the GNR tie, the resume of the first three members shows a shared musical history with less than a “six degrees of separation” scenario. You see, prior to Jane’s Addiction, Wheeler had played bass with his then roommate Perry Ferrell in Psi-Com, a regular in the L.A. underground scene in the mid-80s. Afterwards he brought on Karmageddon with drummer Danny Carey, now of Tool notoriety. Pitman, too, had been in various bands with his University of Missouri Conservatory of Music bro, Carey, both in their defiant K.C. days, and later in Zaum (along with Fox), adding synth textures on Tool’s multiplatinum album “Aenima.”
Now, with this debut album two years in the making, SexTapes is ready to rock.
With the addition of Brown, the band moved from a garage into a spacious studio lockout in North Hollywood. There they began cherry-picking from the early demos, keeping in mind their goal of creating an originally addictive record. In 2006, the drum tracks were laid down, with Wheeler and Fox also tracking their parts with Pitman’s production. Finally back from being on the road with Guns N’ Roses, Pitman recorded the lead vocals, afterwards enduring the meticulous process of adding multiple layers and roughly shimmering guitar-synths, which, at times, are reminiscent of his masterful arrangements on Lusk’s “Free Mars.”
Recorded at The Pass Studios in Hollywood where rock legends like Smashing Pumpkins recorded “Zeitgeist” and The Red Hot Chili Peppers recorded “Stadium Arcadium,” the debut album was produced and mixed by Chris Pitman. All songs are written by Kelly Wheeler and Chris Pitman.
SexTapes is future hard rock. The music is a bit psychotic, but with plenty of melody mixing up the punk and psychedelic overtones. SexTapes is unique, so it doesn’t really sound just like any other band, but as a reference, some say SexTapes™ sounds like a cross between Jane’s Addiction, Led Zeppelin and Queen with a modern twist. You be the judge.

NEW SINGLE “YOU BETTER PRAY” HITS ALTERNATIVE RADIO AND MTV2;
RJA FANS GET FREE DOWNLOAD OF ALBUM TRACK “PEN & PAPER” ON OFFICIAL WEBSITE
SECOND VIRGIN ALBUM LONELY ROAD, RELEASED FEB. 3RD
For Virgin Records platinum-plus rockers THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS, a busy holiday season is only getting busier in the two-month run-up to the much-anticipated February 3, 2009 release of the band’s second album, LONELY ROAD.
The band played early Secret Santa to their worldwide fan community by posting the new album track “Pen & Paper” as a free download at the RedJumpsuitAlliance.com website, adding a stream of the song to MySpace.com, and letting viral word of mouth do the rest.
The album’s kick-off single and video, the righteous rocker “You Better Pray,” has already been streamed nearly 350,000 times on the RJA Myspace.com page, as it builds national airplay and climbs the alternative and modern rock radio charts.
Three months’ worth of live dates have now been finalized, including year-end holiday celebrations presented by America’s greatest rock radio stations; a month of headlining dates through the south and Midwest (including a stop in their hometown Jacksonville, Florida); and a series of gigs in Southeast Asia and Australia.
On Monday, December 15th, the final MTV2: UNLEASHED All-Day Premiere of 2008 will be “You Better Pray.” The video will run on MTV2’s online homepage and on MTV2’s cablecast throughout the day, at the top of each video hour and in front of the channel’s regular programming. Promo spots will feature teaser footage from the song’s video clip for a week prior to premiere day.
THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS recorded LONELY ROAD, at the Valley Village, CA, studio of super-producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Hoobastank, P.O.D., Less Than Jake, Daughtry, Seether, All-American Rejects). The album follows up DON’T YOU FAKE IT, the band’s breakthrough debut, which charted for 62 weeks on Billboard’s Top 200, scanning over a million copies in the U.S. to date, and selling more than 2.1 million copies of its singles.
Consisting of lead singer Ronnie Winter, guitarist/pianist/singer Duke Kitchens, bass/singer Joey Westwood and drummer/singer Jon Wilkes, RJA’s extraordinary address of domestic violence in their first single, “Face Down,” signaled the close relationship the band would keep with their fans as they grew from local sensations to platinum international hit-makers. “Everybody loves the band ‘cause they know we are real and not contrived, and know the trailer that we started jamming in when we were 15 years old,” Ronnie Winter told a CrusherMagazine.com interviewer during his brief downtime at home in Florida, just following completion of the new album. “The cops had to come shut us down. I still talk to those cops when I see them on the streets. It’s one whole long story that has taken eight or nine years, so our community has been with us the whole time.
Accordingly, since the release of DON’T YOU FAKE IT, RJA has also been an active force for a wide array of charitable organizations and social causes, including teen suicide prevention (including co-headlining the US Take Action Tour with My Chemical Romance and Rise Against), mental health parity and a strong commitment to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, teaming up with their label Virgin Records, to raise funds.
In addition, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Guardian Angel Foundation has been formed as an umbrella group to support under-funded high school band programs, to promote and enhance student musical development; support individuals affected by domestic violence, to break the cycle of abuse; and contribute to research that focuses on management of acute hyperglycemia in hospitalized patients. “We’ve honestly always felt blessed, and the best way to give back is to…give back! Don’t talk about it. Just do it. So our motto of, ‘Doing good for no good reason’ will always apply to this specific band, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus,” Winter said.
