Tonight on Hard Rock Nights, we explore the difference between the depressing music of grunge (without actually playing any of it…because we wouldn’t do that on HRN) and the party-attitude music of real hard rock! Slaughter, Quiet Riot, Keel, Van Halen and BulletBoys are among the bands that will be teaching us a lesson with loud guitars, big hair and spandex pants. We’ve also got new music from Kelly Fairchild, Krokus, Souls of We, DC4 and Takara. Tune in to Hard Rock Nights tonight (and every Saturday night) on classxradio.com starting at 9 pm eastern!

Metal Rendez-vous may have been Krokus’ fourth offereing, but it is easily one of their most important releases. This album marked the debut of singer Marc Storace with Krokus. It is the voice of Storace that helped change the sound of the band, and got them on the road to success.
The big hits from Krokus would come later in their career, but that is not to say that Metal Rendez-vous isn’t worth a look. This album boasts some pretty good rockers that deserve some plays today. “Heatstrokes”, “Come On” and “Back Seat Rock ‘N’ Roll” are probably the best of the rockers on this album. “Streamer” is one of the better slow tracks in the entire Krokus catalog.
Metal Rendez-vous has some very solid axe work by Tommy Kiefer (R.I.P.) and Fernando Von Arb. At times they offer up some bluesy bar room guitar, and on songs like “Come On” they absolutely shred.
One listen to Marc Storace, and is easy to tell how his voice had such an impact on this band. He kicks ass on this disc, as he does on so many other of Krokus’ albums.
Die hard Krokus fans probably already own this disc. New fans should certainly check this disc out. I enjoy this from time to time, and I think you will too.

Eighties famed rock band TWISTED SISTER will be headlining Sunday, July12 at Rocklahoma.
TWISTED SISTER is celebrating the twenty fifth anniversary of “Stay Hungry”, which includes rock anthems “We’re Not Going to Take It” and “I Wanna Rock”.
Dee Snider of TWISTED SISTER and host of the “House of Hair” had this to say about Rocklahoma. “In every great religion or society there are pilgrimages to be made and homage to be paid. The Islamic have Mecca, the Jews and the Muslims have the Wailing Wall, the Catholics have St. Peter’s Basilica, the Irish have the Blarney Stone and so on and so on. The ultimate pilgrimage for the old school, metal community is Rocklahoma. Each and every one of us must make the trip and pay homage to the Gods of Metal. Wait a minute….that’s me! And that’s why I’ve just got to go back to Rocklahoma this year…’cause there’s nothing quite like being paid homage to! It’s better than sex!”
In addition to TWISTED SISTER and the already announced KIX and KEEL, Catch the Fever Music Festivals is proud to announce GREAT WHITE and NELSON have been added to the lineup. Director of Operations Dave Giencke announced, “This year’s lineup is shaping up again to be a great festival showcasing Eighties rock music!”
Rocklahoma is one of the largest rock festivals of its type featuring music from the Eighties. Attendance has come from all fifty states and six out of seven continents.
Both Playboy and Rolling Stone in 2008 called Rocklahoma one of the top festivals that should not be missed.
Catch The Fever Festival Grounds is located four miles north of Pryor, Oklahoma and has 6,200 assigned and numbered seats, as well as general admission on the lawn for over 50,000 people. The grounds also feature over 4,000 campsites, on-site parking, bathroom facilities, a convenience store, Rocklahoma also has a Picture Alley that allows anyone in attendance to approach the stage during any performance and take photographs of a favorite artist at close range.
Rocklahoma offers a one-day and four-day general admission passes, along with V.I.P. Passes that includes all the food and drink you want for all four days.

Here comes another Swedish band ready to hit the shores of the USA. Hope, which hails from Goteberg and is comprised of Henkan Thomsen on bass & lead vocals, Mats Johanson on guitar, and drummer Imre Daun. The guys in Hope all have almost 30 years of playing, studio, and touring with various performers behind them but their album “All of My Days” is their band debut. Hope will definitely draw comparisons to Canadian Bryan Adams and Norweigan legends the Stage Dolls. Thomsen’s vocals sound alot like both Adams and Torstein Flakne and like I said before the bands sound follows suit. Hope should by no means be considered metal and I would be even hard pressed to call them hard rock, but regardless the guys, along with the help of respected musician Jim Jidhead ( Alien) know how to write good catchy mid tempo songs that do rock and and a sound that just flows effortlessly. If you are a fan of Bryan Adams or Stage Dolls, Hope will definitely have the songs to tickle your ears.
You can check out the band and their songs at http://www.myspace.com/hopehenkan You can purchase “All of My Days” at various online retailers including NEH Records by visiting http://www.nehrecords.com/SHOP/HopeAll.htm

The tour, which kicks off on June 23rd in Camden, N.J, promises an unprecedented night for those in attendance. The show will highlight three decades of music from three of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest bands for a four-hour interactive concert experience that will begin the moment that the doors open. It will feature Bluetooth technology and delivery, text communications prior to and during performances and a host of interactive offerings. “I’m very pleased that we are coming back to North America,” said Def Leppard front man Joe Elliott. “We’re gonna be touring with some new friends and some old friends and can guarantee it will be the Rock Tour of the summer.”
“There is nothing better than an epic summer concert and this tour is a dream come true for rock ‘n’ roll fans. It will be a night of a thousand hits with three hard-charging rock bands on the road together,” said Poison front man and star of VH1’s top-rated “Rock of Love Bus” reality show Bret Michaels.
Def Leppard (Joe Elliott – vocals, Vivian Campbell – guitar, Phil Collen – guitar, Rick “Sav” Savage -bass and Rick Allen – drums) sits at the top of an iconic class of rock ‘n’ roll bands. In fact, they are one of a handful of select groups, including the likes of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Eagles, who have been awarded the RIAA’s prestigious Diamond Award more than once (“PYROMANIA” and “HYSTERIA“). The band’s most recent album “SONGS FROM THE SPARKLE LOUNGE” debuted last year at #5 on the Billboard Top 200; earning Def Leppard their highest-charting debut since their 1992 album “ADRENALIZE“.
Over the course of their career, Def Leppard has produced a series of classic groundbreaking albums that set the sound for generations of music fans and artists. The group’s spectacular live shows, filled with powerful melodic rock anthems, have become synonymous with their name and are an institution in the touring industry as they continue to sell out arenas worldwide.
Poison, one of rock’s most iconic and enduring bands, has been one of the music industry’s top acts, with multi-platinum album sales and sold out tours since first bursting onto the scene in 1986. Poison’s Bret Michaels, C.C. Deville, Bobby Dall and Rikki Rockett have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and charted twelve Top 10 hits. Throughout Poison’s career, the band’s members have enjoyed collaborative and solo successes from the stage to screen. Bret Michaels currently stars in the #1 viewed reality show on cable, VH1’s “Rock of Love Bus.”
With more than 5,000 performances, 20 million records sold, 29 movie soundtracks and 40 gold and platinum-recording awards, Cheap Trick may be one of the most covered bands of all time. Since the 70s they’ve been blending elements of pop, punk and even metal in a way that is instantly catchy and recognizable.
Live Nation will produce the tour nationally.

Aussie rockers Hell City Glamours have scheduled several club shows in March in the United States.
Check below for dates and locations:
Last Sunday night, I attended the Halestorm, Black Stone Cherry, and Seether concert at Bogart’s in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Black Stone Cherry was the main draw for me on this night. I have been wanting to catch them live ever since their last album dropped. They had visited my area last October, but I wasn’t able to attend that show. I have been disappointed ever since.
Central Pennsylvania’s Halestorm took the stage first, and I had no expectations with this band. We recently had a press release on this band a couple of weeks ago, and that was my first introduction to Halestorm, as it may have been for some of you.
Much to my surprise, Halestorm kicked ass. Singer Lzzy Hale is a great new talent that is going to be turning a lot heads in the very near future. I am not a big fan of too many female rock vocalists, but her voice blew me away. She has some power and range to her voice that made quite an impression on me. As a whole, Halestorm was very good live. They played a few cuts off their new album that is going to hit in April.
Arejay Hale was pretty fun to watch, with his energetic drum work. In the middle of the set, the entire band did a drum solo. That was something new, and very cool to boot.
After their show, they employed some smart marketing tactics by selling their debut album for a mere $5.00. It had no cover art or jewel case, but did have the tunes that will be released to the public for sale in April. They walked through the sold out crowd selling a ton of CD’s after their show. Halestorm might be onto something. If CD’s were offered at a greatly reduced price (like $5.00), wouldn’t you rather buy it and help out the band, than steal it online?! Regardless, Halestorm will be a band to watch in the future. I will be catching them again in March, when they come back to open for Shinedown.
Black Stone Cherry was the second on the bill, and much like the previous two times I have seen them live, they came out and kicked some serious ass. They played several cuts off of their debut record, as well as their new disc, “Folklore & Superstition”. The set list included the following songs in no certain order:
Lonely Train, Peace is Free, Blind Man, Rain Wizard, Maybe Someday, and Please Come In. It was far too short of a set in my opinion. I will be glad when BSC have enough material to headline some shows. I could definitely handle a two hour set with these guys.
Guitarist Ben Wells never stood still for a second. He is one hell of an energetic guitar player. Jon Fred Young still reminds me of a young Tommy Aldridge on the drums. Singer Chris Robertson was in fine vocal form all night. As a whole, Black Stone Cherry brought it once more. I am guessing that they made a whole lot of new fans after tonight’s show. I hope they come back soon!
Seether took the stage around 10 P.M. and the crowd was completely charged up, with thanks to Halestorm and Black Stone Cherry.
This was my first time seeing Seether live. I was pretty amazed at how big their fan base was. 99% of the people at Bogart’s were there to see Seether. The people were packed in like sardines. There was no place left to move or stand by the time Seether started.
Seether played for about an hour and fifteen minutes, and played the following songs:
No Jesus Christ, Needles, Fine Again, Driven Under, Broken, Nutshell, Gasoline, The Gift, Careless Whisper (Wham Cover), Breakdown, Rise Above This, FMLYHM, Fake It, and Remedy
For me, the highlight of the set, was when singer Shaun Morgan, brought out Lzzy Hale to sing on the tune Broken. This is the song that has the vocal parts sung by Amy Lee of Evanescence. In my opinion, Lzzy Hale added more power to the song with her vocals. If only Seether could re-record this song. Shaun mentioned that he though she was better than that other bitch. =)
The crowd was great, Bogart’s was packed (and hotter than hell). I thought the lighting and sound for Seether kind of sucked, but as a whole it was a very good night of rock and roll in Cincinnati. I enjoyed the show, and I am looking forward to seeing Seether again (which I will be doing this Friday).
The clips below are not the greatest, but at least it will give you an idea of what you missed.
Seether – Gasoline
Seether – Rise Above This
Seether – Fake It
Million Dollar Reload are pleased to announce the release schedule for their album ..Anthems of a degeneration.. in the following territories:

Germany March 2nd
Sweden March 2nd
France April 2nd
Guitarist B.A.M commented ” We are all happy that our UK label Lime records has secured proper releases for the album in Europe and the USA . Koch records in America have been working hard on radio rotation and promotion, and the European end of the operation is finally clicking into gear. Its a slow process to co-ordinate everything , but we’re getting there. We hope to visit all the countries on tour later in the year” Anthems of a Degeneration is also available through all major download sites or alternatively from the bands own website.
Dee Snider has been tapped to perform in Las Vegas for the inaugural Monster Circus , a new show that combines rock music, audience interaction and “a freaky circus atmosphere,” according to a press release. The Twisted Sister frontman will appear as a special guest March 19-21 and March 26-28.
Snider will be backed by the Monster Circus band, which features Rudy Sarzo (Dio, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne), John Corabi (Motley Crue, Ratt), Fred Coury (Cinderella), Bruce Kulick (KISS) and Tony Montana (Great White).
The 75-minute show, which plays inside the Las Vegas Hilton Theater, will continue to feature special guests mixed in with dancers, human circus acts, aerialists, freaks and “a tour bus full of platinum certified rock stars,” according to event producers.
Tickets for Monster Circus can be purchased at the Las Vegas Hilton box office, by phone or online at the Las Vegas Hilton website and via Ticketmaster. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily’s parent company.) Also available is a “rock star” VIP package that includes a meet-and-party pass, seating on the stage, photos and an opportunity to hang with the band after the show, according to organizers. Guests 12-17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Head over to www.CrackTheSkye.com and get ready to have your mind blown! The new MASTODON micro site has just launched and features animation inspired by their upcoming album Crack the Skye. Like their previous releases, the new artwork was created by Paul Romano (Trivium, Godflesh). The site also features the world premiere of the sweeping instrumental, “Oblivion” plus a 60 second snippet of the track “Divinations.”
The new album was produced by Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Stone Temple Pilots, Neil Young) at Southern Tracks Studios in Atlanta, GA. Drummer/lyricist Brann Dailor described the album as more “focused” and told TheQuietus.com, “Maybe there was a deeper heart to this record that needed more exploring. We got more involved with feeling the vibe of the record and everything feels creepier and spaced out…something special is going on.”
Crack the Skye hits stores on March 24th!

AC/DC, and Jackyl are just two of many bands I would consider amongst my favorites. Hollywood, California’s SNEW somehow manages to tap into the sounds of these bands, to deliver one hellaciously good hard rock disc, “SNEW YOU”.
If you are still sitting in your chair by the time the opening cut, “Stand Up High” is done, either your headphones are broke, or the battery died in your Miracle ear. “SNEW YOU” starts off with this awesome stadium anthem that will make you throw your fist in the air, and scream “HELL YEAH” at the top of your lungs. The rock doesn’t stop there either.
“SNEW YOU” relentlessly pounds your senses with nine more hard rock tunes after this killer opening cut. You won’t find any wimpy power ballads on this CD. This disc rocks hard from beginning to end. I couldn’t find a bad song in the bunch.
If you are looking for highly original sounding tunes, you probably won’t find them on “SNEW YOU”. I thought a couple of songs sounded quite similar to some AC/DC tunes, but I wasn’t bothered by that aspect of SNEW’s music one bit. I have been enjoying every song on this disc, and hit repeat once it is done. My only disappointment with this CD, is that I didn’t hear this disc sooner.
Don’t think for a second that the sound quality is going to be off, because this disc isn’t on a major label, that simply isn’t the case here. This disc has good songs, with a production effort that rivals those of the big labels.
If you want to hear hard rock the way it should be played, do not pass go, do not collect $200 dollars, go to this link and buy “Snew You” today. Highly Recommended!

Faith No More has announced its first live performances since splitting up in 1998. The band will play a series of European festival dates this summer, according to a statement from frontman Mike Patton’s publicist.
No North American Faith No More dates are scheduled at this time. As previously reported, only Patton and frequent collaborator Rahzel will perform at Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April, despite speculation about a Faith No More appearance.
Neither the lineup for the revived Faith No More nor the specific festival dates have been announced. Patton’s spokesperson Monica Seide said no further details on the band are yet available.
The news of Faith No More’s reunion comes as Patton completes his first film score, for “Crank 2: High Voltage,” which will hit theaters on April 17.
Patton and beatboxer Rahzel, meanwhile, have worked on an album that has not yet been officially released.
Faith No More’s biggest single, “Epic,” reached No. 9 on the Hot 100 in 1990. “Midlife Crisis” earned the band the top spot on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in 1992.
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of THE TROPHY for the release of the band’s debut album “The Gift of Life” on April 17th 2009!
THE TROPHY started in 2006 as a way for guitarist and composer Todd Wolf to explore a different side of his songwriting. Until that moment Todd had been working on straight HEAVY METAL stud with his band HUMAN FORTRESS. “I wrote many songs in the past which were too commercial for my main band Human Fortress. I thought these tracks were to good to get lost on my pc”, recalls Todd. So he started to look for the right partners to start up a new band and the chance of a lifetime came about when he met with former JADED HEART screamer Michael Bormann.
Todd tells the story: “I met Michael in the studio with Tommy Newton, who engaged him to sing the background vocals on the Human Fortress debut album. Luckily we kept in touch and when I finished the first songs, I sent them to Michael and he liked them immediately. So we arranged a meeting and the rest, as you will be able to hear, is history!”. Michael immediately shared Todd’s musical vision and joined the band with keyboard player Marco Grasshoff. They have brought their expertise to the song writing and recording sessions. Bormann’s distinctive vocals added the polish and turned great songs into real jewels.
Todd and Michael worked with loops, down-tuned guitar riffs and keyboard effects; the result is an interesting cocktail of Melodic Rock with many influences, while remaining very contemporary in arrangement and style. The final result, THE TROPHY’s debut album entitled “The Gift of Life” is an outstanding example of how perseverance and talent can build an outstanding slice of Rock. “While the main influences of THE TROPHY are Pop, Crossover, AOR and a little bit modern metal” concludes Todd “I think we have created something special. I do not know any band in the world which sounds like us. Some tracks are potential hits. We hope the people out there will love it because we would like to record a second one”.

Justin Hawkins will forever be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Because of his vocal style everything he does will always be compared to his work in the Darkness there is just no way around it. His new band Hot Leg has just released their debut album “Red Light Fever” and yes it does sound like the Darkness but it sounds like a new and improved version. “Red Light Fever” by far passes both albums released by his previous band. Every song here (ten in all) is capable of being released as a single from the outrageous opener “Chicken” to “Cocktails” and even the albums closer a piano rocker called “Kissin’ The Wind”. Joining Hawkins in Hot Leg are Pete Rinaldi – Lead Guitar, Samuel SJ Stokes – Bass, and Darby Todd – Drums.
For a band that has only been together for a year or so these guys sound incredibly tight and in sync with one another from beginning to end. Hawkins trademark high pitched vocals are all over this record where it seems he might have been held back in the past not true here and Renaldi pulls off some exceptional solos throughout but especially on “Gay In The 80’s”, “Prima Donna” and “You Can’t Hurt Me Anymore”. On “Ashamed” Hawkins duets with Beverli Brown and pull off what may end up being the best song on the album. When “Trojan Guitar” first starts out you think it may be a reworking of Billy Squier’s “the Stroke” along with “Chicken” these may be to the two most outrageous songs on the album but they still kick ass and Renaldi pulls of another exceptional solo.
The two songs I haven’t mentioned yet could very easily find themselves at the top of the charts “I’ve Met Jesus” and “Whichever Way You Wanna Give It” and just in case I didn’t mention it before there are no ballads on “Red Light Fever”. Whatever health problems Hawkins had in the past seem to be behind him and it definitely shows on this record. He and the boys come out with guns blazing and do not slow down one bit and it sounds like they are having a blast the entire time.
If you are looking for “serious” rock you may want to wait for the new U2 album to come out, but if you are looking for pure unadulterated foot stomping, air guitaring, sing along fun rock n roll then Hot Leg’s “Red Light Fever” will be right up your alley and definitely worth the trip.
