Jeff Scott Soto’s touring line-up includes:
Jeff Scott Soto – Vocals
Jorge Salan – Lead Guitar
Fernando Mainer (TAKO) – Bass
Edu Cominato (TEMPESTT) – Drums
BJ (TEMPESTT) – Guitar
Jorge Salan is the young-blood hotshot from Madrid, Spain whom Jeff met through his many tours through Spain. Jeff even contributed vocals on one track for Jorge’s 2007 solo album, “Chronicles Of An Evolution”, which is where Jeff first discovered this fresh new talent. Brought along on bass from Jorge’s solo band is Fernando Mainer, who has played with a popular Spanish band TAKO along with many others from his native land.
New drummer, Edu Cominato, hails from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Edu has toured as Jeff’s drummer throughout Brazil as well as with his own band, TEMPESTT, where they shared stages throughout Europe on a Jeff Scott Soto-introduced/guest tour for TEMPESTT back in 2008. A fifth member — a man simply named BJ, also from the band TEMPESTT — will serve as second guitarist/keyboardist for the new band.
In other news, JSS will shoot a new, full headline show for DVD in Madrid on April 18, with Jorge’s solo band as support for the show. Jorge, too, will be shooting a live DVD in which Jeff will guest on the number “No Salvation”, which he sang on “Chronicles…”. This will be Jeff’s first full live show to be released on DVD as the only other live DVD from the Gods show in 2002 was a limited setlist. The new show will consist primarily of Jeff Scott Soto solo material with the blend of expected numbers from Soto’s past.
Jeff says, “I am having a blast creating the new setlist as now I have four solo albums under my belt and familiar material for days to have fun with live. But I won’t forget the numbers that make everyone stand up and shout!”
Do you like gang vocals? With the band Bang Camaro that is all you are going to get? Instead of having one lead singer, they often employ from 10 to 20 singers for every live show. Either this band is crazy for using this concept, or they are extremely creative.
These darlings of Guitar Hero have returned with another album filled with rocking guitar tunes to get your blood pumping.
I admit that I liked Bang Camaro’s first album. I thought the gang vocal ideal was a novel concept, if not a unique one. I can’t think of another hard rock act that has tried anything like this.
On album # 2, I thought gang vocals were a hindrance, instead of a help to the band. There is no doubt in my mind that this band has some decent musicians, but at this stage in the game, I think it is time for them to find one talented singer instead of the 10 – 20 they use today. Are there good songs on Bang Camaro II? Yes, there are a couple of them that are pretty good. The album is full of 80’s style hair metal that will be sure to please some old school rock fans. The music is surprisingly solid, but the vocals are a problem for me. I just couldn’t get into the music as much because the vocals proved to be more of a distraction. Some of the song writing is pretty weak as well. “I Know You Like My Band” is a perfect example of a song that never should have seen the light of day. Did a high school kid write this song?
I am sure there are some folks that will love this album, but I believe this Camaro is headed for the wrecking ball.

Man Made Mountains will release their self-titled debut album in the U.S. on March 24th on Reversed Records.
Genre jumping is nothing new and Man Made Mountains shows their imagination with their new album. The band blends heavy riffs, crunchy vocal, dialogue samples all the while layering keyboards and ambient noise that will grasp your imagination as each song enters to cortex of your mind.
Man Made Mountains, like many bands from Canada, have humble rural roots. Hailing from the remote west coast island of Quadra, a community with a population comprised of mostly, loggers, fishermen and draft-dodgers. The four members: Christian Carmen (Vocals/guitar/synth/samples), Lawrence Butler (Drums), Adrien Doering (Guitar) and Brynne Ewart-Armstrong (Bass/vocals), formed in 2004 following the disbanding of a group with fellow Quadrite, Ryan Guldemond (Mother Mother, Last Gang Rec) and were drawn to the urban metropolis of Vancouver, B.C. where they spent their first years there trying different formulas and different names.
The self titled album gives its listeners a full spread of MMM’s musical pantheon. Heavy in nature, they dip in and out of the sound that might typically be labeled “heavy metal”, but have much more to offer than just fist-pounding anthems. With thundering distorted pulses morphing into dreamy lulls, Man Made Mountains’ sound is not unlike a mountain range itself.

When I think of Brazil, and hard rock, two bands quickly come to mind, Sepultura, and Angra. “All My Life” is the first CD I have listened to by Viper. A quick check of the band’s history, and I was surprised to find out that “All My Life” is the Viper’s sixth studio CD. This band is also the former stomping ground of ex-Angra singer, André Matos.
The opening track “All My Life” opens up with heavy riffing that would make Iron Maiden proud. Singer Ricardo Bocci shows a lot of talent with his vocals. I expected his vocals to be heavily accented, but he does a masterful job on the lyrics and has good range to boot.
I have seen Viper classified as power metal on some of their previous releases, All My Life, might fall a little closer to progressive metal than power metal. In fact, there are times when this music dabbles in the melodic rock area. Nonetheless, Felipe Machado and Val Santos whip out some tasty six string action on this disc that hard rock and metal fans are sure to love. As an added bonus, former Viper and Angra singer André Matos makes a guest appearance, and handles the vocals on the very cool tune “Love is All”.
The musicianship surprised me on this CD. I was surprised that a band this good, has escaped my attention until now. I will definitely be seeking out some of their previous releases after hearing this one.
You can only purchase “All My Life” as an import disc. You can purchase this CD, at this link. Hopefully, this disc will get some U.S. distribution. Music this good needs to be heard!.
Ricardo Bocci — vocals
Pit Passarell — bass
Felipe Machado — guitar
Val Santos — guitar
Renato Graccia — drums
Additional musicians on All My Life:
André Matos — vocals on “Love Is All”
Yves Passarel — guitar solo on “Violet”
Nikki Sixx posted the following on his blog today:
Hello all, a small update from my head to yours,Via a wireless hub in a hotel room somewhere in the Midwest.
Yesterday was a day I’ll remember forever …
Rick Neilson is a friend, Cheap trick are some of my Heros.Rockford Illinois is home to both.
Yesterday, like always when I’m coming into town, I call Rick or visa versa and if he aint on tour we get a chance to hang out and talk music. Yesterday everything lined up perfectly. Rick wasn’t on tour.,so 10 text messages and 2 e mails later our friendly hero pops into my dressing room. Katherine was painting, I was listening down to some of the new Last Vegas music and retouching some Photos.
Meeting up with friends on the road is rare and it really does break the monotony from city to city. It was cool for Rick to meet Katherine and visa versa Finally. Both so important to me.
OK, back to the banter going back and forth in my lil domus a domus…I told him the Last Vegas guys were Huge fans (( OK, so who isn’t) and he said, hey, what if I jammed with them? My jaw dropped, knowing what it was gonna be like for them….I played him some of there music and he ran home and grabbed his 55 strat.Me and Katherine walked him onstage, he plugged in. What can I say, the guys in The last Vegas were ear to ear smiles, as was everybody.I’ve met so many of my heros, and it doesn’t always turn out so pretty. This is a night to remember for them…..…
OK, back to the dressing room, in comes Mick Mars, and he says, “what ya say we break out jailhouse rock tonight?”Looked at Rick and said,”ya wanna come up?”….The guy in the band jumped at the chance and we put the song in the set….Now its our turn to be blessed by our friend onstage . So we jammed a pretty smoking ,yet unrehearsed version of the Elvis presley’s classic and all in all ,a wonderful time was had by all…,
Next up,tour bus heading to ricks home…Now I haven’t been by his house since 1985 or so, and lets just say, it’s a rather foggy memory but this one is burnt into my memory banks with a branding iron.We ended up, hours and hours looking at his wonderful guitar collection, and what a collection it is…
I played (( well sorta ,haha )) jailhouse rock on Elvis’s acoustic, strummed on John Lennon and Jimi Hendrixs guitars and a few other insane classics that left me speechless….And last but not least, the many stories,of legends long since gone….an amazing night…
The heart of this man, the legacy of his music and his band’s influence touch me still to this day….
Rick, thank you….

Multi-platinum recording artist, producer, songwriter Kip Winger was recently presented with an honorary plaque and a historic United States of America flag by The Government of the United States.
In a surprise presentation ceremony during the taping of “Legends & Lyrics” General Harold Cross honored and praised Kip for his work on Winger lV. The inscription on the plaque reads:
Department of Defense Seal
IN APPRECIATION OF RECORDING ARTIST
AND HIS MUSICAL COMPOSITION
“BLUE SUEDE SHOES”
HONORING THE SERVICE AND SACRIFICE
OF OUR UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES
AND THEIR FAMILIES.
OUR SINCERE THANKS,
GENERAL HAROLD CROSS
(FOUR STAR GENERAL)
The flag has historic significance as it was the last United States of America flag to fly over Forward Operating Base ,Kalso, located in Iskandaria, Iraq, 20 miles south of Baghdad. Before it was turned over to the Iraqis, FOB Kalso was the U.S. Army soldier’s broadband internet services facility in Iraq as well as a base to stop enemy activity in the Sunni Triangle.
WINGER IV’s [Shrapnel Records] concept and emphasis was on our Military and what it was like to be solider, form a soldiers perspective, leaving politics at the door. Kip had a vision to support the American troops that are standing ground in Iraq and elsewhere. “I had been doing solo shows at Military bases and in speaking with many of the soldiers, their stories touched me” explains Kip. “It was amazing to hear how far reaching our music was and how many soldiers have been moved by it, I was truly humbled by the stories”. Capturing the spirit, mood and reality from the perspective of the soldier. Songs like Right Up Ahead, M16 and Blue Suede Shoes were inspired songs seen though the eyes of a soldier at war.
The album artwork was handled by Ethan Van Sciver who wanted to put in his part for our Military – Sciver is a renowned DC Comic book artist and penciler who has contributed (among others) to Cyberfrog, New X-Men, The Flash: Iron Heights and Impulse. The “Guardian Of Freedom” album art depicts our Militaries finest protecting with guardian angels that are representative of our prayers we send.
Currently Kip is promoting his latest solo CD “FROM THE MOON TO THE SUN” on MVD Audio and the soon to be release Blackwood Creek record. He recently completed his first Orchestral piece for Ballet Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon Director of Morphoses Ballet Co. http://www.morphoses.org that will be used for San Francisco Ballet. The Musical world premier of Ghosts will be with The Tucson Symphony November 14thth 2009. Kip and Reb Beach have also just began writing for a new WINGER release.

Firebird is the band led by Bill Steer from Napalm Death and Carcass. The sound of Firebird is about a million miles away from the other groups that Steer has been a member of. You won’t find death metal on “Deluxe”. Firebird’s sound has a 70’s rock vibe with a stoner rock element that leans heavily towards acts like Jimi Hendrix, Cream and Black Sabbath.
What amazes me about “Deluxe” is the huge sound on this record. For only a three piece band, the music is pretty awesome. The production quality is a little off, but there is no doubt after listening to these tunes, that Bill Steer is a huge, largely unknown talent. His guitar wizardry on this album needs to be heard to be appreciated.
It helps that I love a lot of stoner rock bands, but I believe Firebird is a lot more that your run of the mill, sludge rock act. There is a cool blues vibe, with huge bass lines and big drums which truly give this band a cool sound. This is the type of CD that you need to blast out of a good stereo system, so you can truly hear the music. Ear buds and headphones just don’t do this one justice.
Deluxe is the band’s sophomore release from 2001, which was reissued in 2007. The band is working on their fifth CD, “Grand Union” for a 2009 release. Judging from the sounds on this disc, I will be anxiously awaiting Firebird’s new material
For more information on Firebird, and to hear songs from “Deluxe” check the Firebird myspace page. You can purchase your own copy of “Deluxe” at this link. For you big spenders, the Japanese Import of “Deluxe” has a bonus cover of the Rush song, “Working Man”. You can find that version at this link.

Towards the end of the hair metal era, Valentine released their debut album. Valentine’s sound was in the AOR/Melodic Rock style, with a little bit of hair metal flair for good measure. Valentine’s singer Hugo was a great new unheard talent, that should have propelled this band into mass appeal. He has a good range to his voice that is rarely heard amongst today’s rock singers.
This CD has it all, solid musicianship, great vocals and good songs. Those that got their hands on this disc treasure it, and those that didn’t get it while it was in print, have paid through the nose to acquire a copy off of Ebay or the like. This CD has been out of print for years and has been selling for $60.00 or more.
Sadly, this CD got very little promotion, and by 1994 the band had broken up. I vaguely recall Valentine being a guest on a second rate talk show ( I can’t remember which one) but that was about the extent of the promotion this band, and CD received. It is a shame as this is a very good disc that very few people got to hear.
This CD will likely appeal to fans of bands like Journey, Hardline and other of the melodic rock style.
Valentine reunited last year, and have a new myspace page, where you can find out about the band’s latest happenings.
Valentine recently put out a blog that their songs will be available for download via Amazon.com and I-Tunes, but they are not available as of yet. If you spot a copy of this CD, buy it, and give your significant other the ultimate Valentine!

Today is the day when the next chapter of the White Flame saga begins with the release of the first single off their new album. The massively attacking song “Tall Thin In” continues in classic WF tradition with it’s raunchy guitar riffs and witty texts wrapped in a tight package of energetic Rock&Roll.
Vince is thrilled to be back on the scene as is eager to let people hear the new tune. “For me Tall Thin In is just the perfect song to put out as the first single. It has everything we are good at. The mean groove and those wicked harmonies and a good message to back it up.”
You can listen to Tall Thin In on White Flame MySpace!
Vince wished to take this time to talk about the upcoming album titled Tourbus Diaries. “It’s a road album. Many of the songs were written while we’ve been touring and there are songs that tell stories of how we as a band see life on the road. Some tell happier stories, while others expose the raw truth of the hell You experience out there.”
Tourbus Diaries will be out on the 27th of March across Europe. The album will contain songs like Dancing With Her Sister, Frontrow Girl, Certainly Something, (No) Frosen Angels (duet with Matthau Mikojan) and of course the new single “Tall Thin In”.
John Wetton and Geoffrey Downes are two icons of british Rock Music. Their pedigree speaks for themselves with a career spent in such bands are King Crimson, Uriah Heep, Roxy Music, Buggles, yes and of course ASIA, the supergroup the two of them founded in 1981.
After several years when the two went their separate ways, the couple rejoined in the year 2002 and soon gave birth to the ICON project with the release of the self-titled debut album. Hailed by fans and critics as their best work in years, John and Geoff released a sophomore album entitled “Rubicon”, before putting together again the original ASIA lineup for a brand new record “Phoenix” released in 2008.
“3” is Wetton/Downes Icon brand new album. A record where the power of Geoff Downes’ keyboards and John Wetton’s jaw-dropping voice and stellar bass playing are enhanced by compelling guitar virtuoso Dave Kilminster, fresh from successful tours with Roger Waters and Keith Emerson. Former ELO Cellist Hugh McDowell, whose unique sound has helped frame all three iCon studio releases, is once again involved. Rounding out the band is Pete Riley, considered one of the “best drummers in the world”, whose work with Keith Emerson, Kilminster and extensive live and session work shows an extraordinary breadth and depth of style.
Special guests: renowned harpist Andreas Wolleweider and Anne Marie Helder (Karnataka, Mostly Autumn) dueting on vocals with John Wetton.

Since reuniting in January 07’ to perform a benefit concert, Great White has moved forward with the successful release in the summer of the same year of their return album “Back to the Rhythm”, a record which was hailed by critics and fans as a return to the heydays of the band. After a world tour that celebrated the first 25 years of Great White and that brought them for 14 concerts to Europe, bass player Sean McNabb opted out and was replaced by Scott Snyder (ex Ramos, Accomplice).
The band (which of course includes long-time members by Jack Russell, Michael Lardie, Audie Desbrow and Mark Kendall) went back to the studio and produced the brand new album “Rising”, once again a tribute to the Great White root sound with Rock, Blues and strong melodic elements.
The Southern California blues Hard Rock band first took a bite out of the rock scene in 1984 and since then has achieved worldwide success, encompassing sales of over six million records. They received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance for the song “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” and earned a double platinum certification for the album “…Twice Shy”. The late 80’s were boom years for the band, marked by non-stop touring with some of the biggest bands of the era and playing also in Europe and Japan. Great White recorded two more albums for Capitol — “Hooked”, which was certified gold and “Psycho City”.
The album includes an exclusive bonus track for Europe “Let’s Spend the Night Together”.

AC/DC take their hugely successful Black Ice World Tour to Europe. Dates begin on February 18 in Oslo and conclude in Glasgow on June 30 (see below for full itinerary). AC/DC kicked off their Black Ice World Tour in late October 2008, crisscrossing North America and garnering raves from critics along the way. The Dallas Morning News raved “This is real rock n roll,” while The Boston Globe exclaimed “AC/DC is the greatest band ever.”
The Black Ice World Tour was given the ‘Major Tour of the Year’ award at the 20th Annual Pollstar Concert Industry Awards. The awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles on January 30th at Nokia Theatre.
Released globally on October 20, 2008, Black Ice was recently certified Double Platinum in the U.S. Black Ice is AC/DC’s first new album in over eight years and it’s evident the band is still an incredible force in rock.
Black Ice made history debuting at #1 on album charts in 29 countries and also has the distinction of being Columbia Records’ biggest debut album (since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales data for Billboard in March of 1991). Black Ice has been certified Multi Platinum in eight countries, including the US, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Germany and the Czech Republic. Additionally Black Ice has achieved Platinum status in twelve countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, UK, Argentina, Singapore and New Zealand) and Gold status in four countries (Netherland, Spain, Poland and Brazil). With over 6.5 million copies of Black Ice shipped worldwide, combined with over 5.5 million in catalog sold this year, AC/DC have surpassed The Beatles as the #1 selling catalog artist in the US for 2008. In the US, Black Ice is being sold exclusively at Walmart, Sam’s Club, and www.acdc.com.
