Original member and keyboard player, Barney Stackhouse, and Guitarist, Phil Hammond, have announced that they have left UK Melodic Rockers, Burn. The reason for their departure was basically down to a “difference of musical opinion”. Phil Hammond: ” As we got down to the detail and the practicalities of producing another album to follow up ‘Global Warning’ I realised that the overall plan and direction that the band as a whole had in mind was quite simply not what I wanted. After a fair bit of soul searching I decided to leave. I suppose that Barney was having the same kind of thoughts as me and basically a week or two after I left he did the same. It was a big deal for him as obviously he had been in bands with Marc and Jeff for 20 years. The set at Firefest V was a great way to finish for me and I’d really like to thank all the people who have supported Burn over the last few years and wish the rest of the guys all the best”.
Hammond and Stackhouse, along with Burn Lead Guitarist Julian Nicholas, have started a new project, as yet un-named, for which a large amount of material is already written. They are currently on the search for a singer with a view to releasing an album in 2010. “I suppose that the overall style of the new band will be more along the lines of Modern Rock/Metal, but it won’t be a million miles away from the stuff that Jules and I contributed to ‘Global Warning’ with a more modern edge. If there are any singers with the look and the voice that are interested in doing this thing with us, then please feel free to get in touch with us at P.Hammond@btinternet.com.
