MULTI-PLATINUM BAND HIT THE ROAD IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM, 21ST CENTURY BREAKDOWN, TO BE RELEASED WORLDWIDE ON FRIDAY, MAY 15TH, 2009
Reprise Records’ Grammy®Award winning rock band Green Day have announced that they will hit the road for their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in more than three years beginning July 3rd in Seattle, WA. The first leg of the tour will cross North America through the summer and finish up with two shows in Los Angeles on August 26th.
Green Day are touring in support of their long-awaited eighth studio album 21st Century Breakdown, which will be released globally by Reprise Records on Friday, May 15th, 2009. Singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool have been at work writing, arranging, and recording 21st Century Breakdown since early 2006 with producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins). The first single, “Know Your Enemy” was released to radio and digital retailers on April 16th.
Green Day recently performed 21st Century Breakdown in its entirety during a series of warm-up club shows for hometown fans in the Bay Area. In its review of a show at Oakland’s Fox Theater, Rolling Stone commented that the band, augmented by guitarists Jason White and Jeff Matika, and keyboardist Jason Freese, had the “Quadrophenia-like hang of 21st Century Breakdown’s classic rock melodies and lifetime-punk drive down solid” and that the album is “rock opera in which the rock always comes first.” “21st Century Breakdown is Green Day’s best album,” the reviewer concluded, “and at the Fox, they proved that the rock opera can be as punk as a Clash 45.”
21st Century Breakdown is Green Day’s first studio album since 2004’s two-time Grammy Award-winning punk-rock opera American Idiot, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, and went on to sell more than 12 million copies worldwide.

Papa Roach front man Jacoby Shaddix talks about their new CD “Metamorphosis” and comments on the scathing impact the economy has had on U.S citizens. Featured across major news networks including CNN, Reuters, and many local stations across the country, Jacoby talks about the inspiration behind Papa Roach’s number one hit “Lifeline” and the work they have been inspired to take on. The band is currently working with a California charity called Loaves and Fishes (http://www.sacloaves.org), helping support the many people losing their homes and being forced to live in tents due the current state of our economy.
Filming has begun on a movie dealing with the spectacular life of German boxing legend Max Schmeling. The movie will be directed by Uwe Boll (Postal, Swords Of The King) and will be in theaters in April 2010.
German boxing star Henry Maske will portray Schmeling in the film.
Swiss rockers Gotthard will be featured on the soundtrack with a brand new song from their upcoming, as-yet-untitled album, due for release on September 4th.
“A movie like this needs a strong rock song”, Uwe Boll explains. “The music by Gotthard perfectly fits. When I first heard their songs, I was immediately convinced.”
A music video for the song featured on the soundtrack will be filmed in the same style as the movie. It will be shot in 35mm, which is normally reserved for feature films.
The song and video, in which you will see the first scenes from the movie – will be introduced with the release of the new album in September, as well as on the band’s double headlining tour through Germany with EUROPE.
As previously reported, Nuclear Blast will release Gotthard’s new album on September 4th. In advance of the album release, a digital single will be available on August 14th.

Due to ligament / tendon damage to drummer James Heatley’s left hand, THE ANSWER regret to announce the postponement their imminent UK headline club shows. The affected shows are as follows:
Apr 20th Belfast Mandela Hall
Apr 22nd Nottingham Rescue rooms
Apr 24th Glasgow Grand Central
THE ABOVE SHOWS WILL BE RESCHEDULED AND ALL TIX WILL BE VALID FOR THE NEW DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON.
RESCHEDULED DATE FOR BELFAST MANDELA HALL SHOW IS JUNE 29th.
Says singer Cormac Neeson, “We are bitterly disappointed to have to postpone our UK headline shows especially for all our fans who have been waiting so patiently for so long. We have left the decision to the absolute last minute in the hope that the medical problem with our drummer James might get better. Unfortunately his hand is swollen and he is in immense pain. He has struggled with pain-killers to get through the recent 30 minute support sets on the AC/DC tour and whilst he can perform a short support set, it is a medical impossibility for him to perform a full one hour and fifteen minute headline set at present.
We are all very upset that we cannot play our full headline show and we will reschedule the postponed shows as soon as we can.
Furthermore and as a token of our appreciation to all our disappointed fans we will provide a free and new limited signed tour poster for everyone who has purchased a ticket and this will be distributed at the rescheduled shows.
Once again we are very sorry at not being able to perform but you know we would never postpone any show unless it was an absolute necessity and in this case we are all hoping that James will make a swift and speedy recovery”

Black Label Society has released their new greatest hits package, Skullage. This CD/DVD set is a killer combination of Black Label Society’s best songs, as well as an awesome DVD that collects footage from their Boozed, Broozed and Broken-Boned DVD from 2003, as well as some of Black Label Society’s music videos and acoustic live footage.
Is this collection worth picking up? If you want the acoustic versions of songs like “The Blessed Hellride” and “Stillborn” you need to grab this. The music videos on the DVD are worth the price of admission all by themselves in my opinion. I would have liked to have all of their videos (yes, there are some that are missing) but I am happy to finally have a copy of these on DVD. I must point out though, that there is a video in this collection “New Religion” that I have not see before, and that was a nice bonus.
The Welcome To the Compound is a new segment filmed inside Zakk Wylde’s home. This part of the DVD shows off Wylde’s off the wall sense of humor. Zakk gives you an explanation on what the lyrics are about on several of the songs on Skullage. There is a brief part where Wylde talks about the song “In This River” written about Dimebag Darrell Abbott. In this clip there is some old footage with Dimebag. It was unexpected and yet very cool.
If you have all of Black Label Society’s CD’s (as I do), and you don’t need a greatest hits CD, Black Label Society has given you have the option to purchase the DVD separately. Skullage is available as a CD, DVD or a CD/DVD set.
If you have never picked up any of Black Label Society’s music before, Skullage is an awesome way to acquainted with one of the better metal bands of the last decade. Overall, this is a pretty good collection of music and video, and is definitely worth purchasing!
