With the world currently in the grip of Twitter mania, who can blame guitar legend Slash for getting in on the act, too?
The frizzy-haired, Velvet Revolver axeman, who is busy recording in LA, has just Tweeted that Ozzy Osbourne will be making a very special guest appearance on his forthcoming solo album.
If that wasn’t cool enough, Slash and some famous friends, including Ozzy and Led Zeppelin drummer Jason Bonham, will be making a headline appearance at Norway’s Quart Festival, which takes place Kristiansand on June 30 – July 4.
“I will be doing a few big shows in support of my solo album at some point,” Slash reveals. “I’m sure there will be some other gigs here and there as well, so stay tuned.”

There will be a music theme park on South Carolina’s coast this summer, but it won’t bear the Hard Rock name.
FPI MB Entertainment said Thursday that the 55-acre park it purchased out of bankruptcy earlier this year will reopen Memorial Day weekend as Freestyle Music Park.
FPI MBE bought the park out of bankruptcy for $25 million. Last month, a federal bankruptcy judge refused to finalize the sale, saying its original founders retain rights to some of the original creative touches.
The $400 million park opened last year and is the single largest tourism investment in South Carolina history. It closed in September when owner HRP Myrtle Beach Holdings filed for bankruptcy protection.
Save money, live better? Sort of. Wal-Mart raised prices for downloading MP3 songs, but they’re still cheaper than Apple’s iTunes and Amazon.com
You’ll now pay $1.24, 94 cents and 64 cents for downloads from the giant retailer, up from 74 cents and 94 cents. As is the case with iTunes and Amazon.com, the songs are not hindered by digital rights management (DRM) restrictions, meaning it’s legal to download songs to a variety of MP3 players and PCs.
All three companies said they have been forced to increase MP3 song downloads following pressure from Sony, Universal Music Group, Warner Music, EMI and Disney.
Wal-Mart’s strategy also means that it can now get a bigger slice of the MP3 song market, but at the same time effectively compete with iTunes and Amazon.com by offering lower prices.
On Tuesday, Apple upped prices for songs to $1.29, 99 cents and 69 cents, up from 99 cents for all songs. Of course, the most expensive tunes command the top price, while obscure songs from the virtual bargain bin are considerably cheaper.
Not to be left out, Amazon.com followed suit and hiked its prices in three tiers: $1.29, 89 cents and 69 cents.
iTunes’ price tiers seem straightforward—you’ll pay $1.29 for bestselling songs. Amazon.com’s are a mix and match—most best-sellers, including the No.1 song, are 99 cents, but further down the chart the price increases to $1.29 for some songs. Wal-Mart’s pricing tier is also confusing—its top 15 songs are 94 cents save for the No. 5 song by Kelly Clarkson, at $1.24.

Featuring the former Guns N’ Roses and current Velvet Revolver bassist on guitar and vocals, Loaded play the kind of straight-forward hard rock that the current musical scene has been starving for.

Frontiers Records is delighted to announce the European release of THE LOU GRAMM BAND Self Titled album on June 5th 2009!
Powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Lou Gramm can be heard each and every day, all over the world, on radio, ipods, CD players, television commercials, music videos, and of course… jukeboxes. Gramm – the former lead vocalist and co-writer of the multi-platinum band Foreigner – has become the voice of a generation. Among the most distinctive and powerful voices to emerge from Rock and Top 40 radio, Lou Gramm is also a successful solo artist in his own right and remains one of the most recognizable performers in music today.
Lou Gramm, the vocalist on 20 Top 40 singles, which continue to drive sales of nearly 80 million albums worldwide, exploded onto the international music scene with Foreigner on the chart topper, “Feels Like The First Time” in 1977. The stats are impressive: eight Top 5 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and five Top 5 Albums on the Billboard Album chart in the U.S. alone plus a solid history of chart entries in several European territories and Japan ! Lou Gramm is in a class by himself.
Now, nearly three decades after the debut of Foreigner and chart-topping success as a solo artist, Lou Gramm returns with The Lou Gramm Band, a powerful new CD featuring his own unique brand of Rock’n Roll. “The feeling is wonderful and liberating, to be able to once again record an album of songs that I really care about, with my brothers and my friends making up the band” says Lou. The Band is formed by Gramm’s brothers Ben and Richard on drums and bass respectively with Andy Knoll on keyboards and Don Mancuso on guitars.
“I’ve always tried to be down to earth lyrically and write songs through experience and with emotion” continues Lou, “Musically, I am really fortunate enough to have creative and expressive musicians around me. When I hear a guitar or keyboard riff from my brother Richard, Don or Andy, a story begins to form lyrically and melodically and the band and I work these ideas. Sometimes very painstakingly, until we have the bare bones of something that we can be proud of ”.
The Lou Gramm Band album will include the following tracklisting:
Baptized By Fire; Made To Be Broken; Willing To Forgive; That’s The Way God Planned It; (I Just Wanna) Testify; So Great; Redeemer; Single Vision; Rattle Yer Bones; You Saved Me; It’s Not Too Late (Exclusive Bonus Track for Europe).
Whether they are rocking out on classics like “Hot Blooded” or “Jukebox Hero”, rolling out a new extended groove on Gramm’s massive solo hit, “Midnight Blue,” or bringing to life “So Great” and “Baptized By Fire” from their new self titled CD, Lou and his band have been pleasing enthusiastic audiences with a show that captures the essence of Gramm’s talent “We would love to tour Europe and the rest of the world playing both new songs and select songs from my thirty year career” concludes Lou, who in the meanwhile gives an appointment to his European fans on June 5th in all the finest record shops for the release of the LOU GRAMM BAND album !

Last night American Idol again wasted the time of millions of viewers (self included) as we waited to see who got the boot off of the show. The entertainment was Frankie Avalon, Kellie Pickler and Flo Rida. Now how these three musical artists have anything in common is beyond me, but this certainly seemed like an off the wall mixture of music. Rapper Flo Rida performed an absolutely torrid version of the Dead or Alive classic, “You Spin Me Right Round”. How in the hell this song is in the top 10 in the pop charts is beyond me? While this song isn’t an exact remake, in my ears, the live version was terrible.
This song has been covered by many artists, and almost all of them have been better than this. How on earth do people listen to this stuff?
I am not a fan of this reformulated rap music at all. I guess in a certain sense, musical artists have been sampling songs like this for a long time. Kid Rock is one of the biggest offenders of this as of late, but at least his music is somewhat listenable.
Gemini Five and Dope have also remade this song. I will take their covers over the Flo Rida version any day of the week. Listen for yourself below!

Denmark isn’t exactly a well known territory when it comes to hard rock music. This country has the excellent band D-A-D to grace its shores, but doesn’t have many more that comes to mind when I think of the hard rock or metal genre of music. If the CD, “Rock On!” gets the attention it deserves, Krackerjack will be changing that mind set with myself and a whole lot more people in the rock and roll community.
“Rock On!” has a real 70’s classic rock vibe that sounds like a mix of Thin Lizzy, Boston and maybe some late 70’s Whitesnake. Allan Pedersen has a very good, clean singing voice that fits the music well. Claus Greve handles the keyboard/organ duties on this disc, and does a great job. His keyboard work blends with the music but does not overpower it. His keyboard melodies give Krackerjack’s music that awesome bluesy tone that would make Jon Lord proud.
“Rock On!” is Krackerjack’s third disc, but only the first one that I have had the opportunity to hear. After a couple of spins of this disc, I will definitely get a lot of plays out of this disc, and would like to hear more from this band. Some of my favorite cuts are “Rock On”, “Blame It On the Little Big Man”, and “Too Late”.
You can sample songs from “Rock On!” and purchase this CD at NEH Records. Check out “Rock On!”, it might surprise you as it did me!

Once upon a time I thought the band Black Tide had the market cornered as the youngest hard rock band out there. Suddenly there have been a few new entries to check out including Drive A, and Tulsa, OK rockers Crooked X.
The four members of Crooked X have an average age of……..wait for it……FOURTEEN. These young lads caught the watchful eye of Spencer Proffer and Doc McGhee when they submitted a video into the CBS “The Early Show” segment called “Living Room Live”. As they say, the rest is history.
Typically, I probably wouldn’t have given this CD a second look, but when I heard that former Motley Crue manager Doc McGhee was involved, I couldn’t resist checking out this band.
Even more surprising than than the band members’ ages is their debut CD that was recently released by MPM/EMI/Capitol. These four teenagers rock as hard as many of their modern rock counterparts.
The opening cut “Gone” is quite an addictive rocker that will have you singing/screaming along on the first listen. The good songs don’t end there. “Adrenaline” is a surprisingly good rocker with a lot of heavy, grungy guitar work. Singer Forrest French sings in a deep tone that I didn’t think was possible for a person his age.
“Rock and Roll Dream” is practically a hair metal song, and I love it. The falsetto in French’s voice on this tune reminds me a lot of Andrew Elt from the Sleeze Beez, which is pretty cool in my opinion.
“Nightmare” is the first song ever written by Crooked X. This tune was written by the band when they were a mere 11 years old! This is a pretty tasty number with some really cool guitar tones to start the song off. The song then morphs into a hard rocking number with some crunching guitar riffs. Good stuff!
Overall, I am pretty impressed with Crooked X. This CD is a pretty good start for these young Oklahoma rockers. It will be interesting to see how their career develops from here, but with Doc McGhee in their corner, they are in good hands.
