In a time when most of the good new bands have been coming out of Sweden, imagine my amazement when I heard Jackson, Wisconsin’s Wiszdom Stone for the first time. Judging from the excellent tunes on the the new five song EP “The Battle Rages” from Wiszdom Stone, huge things may be in store this band in the near future!
The five songs on this CD are a pretty amazing collection of classic heavy metal that brings bands like Iron Maiden & Dio to mind. In fact, the first time I heard singer Andre Beaudot sing, I immediately wanted to compare him to the master class of metal vocalists like Ronnie James Dio, and Jorn Lande. This guy is one of the best new metal singers that I have heard in a quite a while.
This EP delivers on all counts. Every song rocks. The vocals are great, the guitar work is excellent, and the drums kick ass. If you listen to one song, check out “The Sky is Falling”. This is amazing stuff!
My only complaint about this disc is that is way too short. “The Battle Rages” is a nice metal appetizer that has me salivating for more. Hopefully Wiszdom Stone will do a full length CD soon. I definitely want to hear more from this band, and as good as this disc is, I am sure I will be. Don’t miss out on this CD! You can purchase this disc at The Omega Order.com.

Music Manager ANDY GOULD of Spectacle Entertainment Signs on Atlanta-Based Rock Band DEATH ON TWO WHEELS
Atlanta-based rock band DEATH ON TWO WHEELS–featuring Trae Vedder – lead vocals, guitar, Andrew Knox – organ, piano, Paul Doss – lead guitar, David Fountain – bass, Greg Neel – drums — Have been scouted and signed by the celebrated music industry veteran Andy Gould, best known for working with Pantera, Rob Zombie, Guns N’ Roses, and Morrissey. Death on Two Wheels first caught Gould’s attention, while they were lighting up the south with a series of breakout shows. Blown away by the band’s un-ignorable live performance, he immediately signed them. “We are so excited to be representing DEATH ON TWO WHEELS,” states Gould. “It’s exciting to once again be working with a rockin’, hard working indie band that is ready for their moment in the spotlight— Reminds me of the days when you’d sign crowd-winning, budding superstars out of tiny clubs, instead of out of rehearsal studios and off TV talent shows.”
The band has opened for a number of notable acts including Janelle Monae, Butch Walker, Norma Jean and Manchester Orchestra. They took SXSW by storm this year, playing 4 showcases and getting noticed by mainstream media. The band is now busy gearing up for the release of SEPARATION OF CHURCH & FATE – produced and mixed by Matt Malpass (Manchester Orchestra, Reliant K) and John Travis (Kid Rock, Social Distortion). DEATH ON TWO WHEELS is a diverse rock group blasting through the membrane of trendiness on the way to something truly audacious and authentic. The songs alone have quickly driven this band to ‘next big thing out ofAtlanta’ status. Given the talent, ambition and resourcefulness of DEATH ON TWO WHEELS you ain’t heard nothin’ yet!

When I think of Rhino Bucket I picture a hot sweaty smoke filled bar, with a bunch of rowdies smashing bar stools and breaking bottles over each other’s heads with the band is onstage banging out their three chord brand of working man rock ‘n roll while all hell is breaking loose in front of them. To picture them anywhere else would not only take away from the band but the music they have been perfecting for the past 19 or so years. Three years after their last release “And Then It Got Ugly” , Georg Dolivo – Vox/Guitar, Reeve Downes – Bass/Vox, Brian “Damage” Forsythe – Guitar, and the returning Simon Wright – Drums are back in business with their new release “the Hardest Town”. Much like their idols AC/DC Georg and the guys live by the “If It Ain’t Broke Don’t Fix It” rule and I personally wouldn’t have it any other way. The hardest thing about “the Hardest Town” is actually turning it off because once you get started listening to it you will not want to stop.
The title track starts us off and right away I can tell a difference in the drumming expertise and power Simon Wright brings back to the band and the music. Reeve Downes works the bottom end of his bass like a dog on a bone with solid thumping lines from beginning to end. Georg’s whiskey and cigarette soaked voice is music to my ears and sounds better than ever. “Damage” is also solid throughout and pulls off a nice solo. “Justified” doesn’t have a big anthemic chorus but you will find yourself singing along and tapping your foot nonetheless the more I listen to this song the more I think it is going to be a classic Bucket song much like “One Night Stand” and “Beat To Death Like A Dog”. “Know My Name” is another song with classic written all over it a full throttle rocker with a great chorus. Wright and Downes shine once again as they are completely in sync with one another. “Dog Don’t Bite” and “No One Here” both have a great AC/DC feel to it more so than usual for Rhino Bucket. If I was forced to pick a favorite song off of “the Hardest Town” then “Street To Street” would be my choice another full throttle rocker with a great foot tapping crank the stereo groove. Forsythe pulls off his best solo on this song also. “Take Me Down” has a cool ZZ Top meets AC/DC vibe to it that makes me think the guys could have been sitting out on a porch somewhere when this tune was recorded. “She’s With Me” would run a very close second to being my favorite song with “Street To Street” great groove and playing by the band as a whole on this track.
After 20 years of making kick ass music “the Hardest Town” may be the album that gets Rhino Bucket the mainstream recognition they definitely deserve, a absolutely great album from beginning to end with at least 4 songs that should be come classics. You can check out Rhino Bucket at www.rhinobucket.com or www.myspace.com/rhinobucketmusic. In addition to other retailers you can also pick up “the Hardest Town” directly from Acetate Records by going to www.acetate.com/bands/rhinobucket/index.html, it is also available from Amazon Downloads and I-Tunes.

Produced By: Erik Turner of Warrant
& Tommy Thayer of Black N’ Blue / KISS
Featuring “Game of War” written by Jani Lane of Warrant
Featuring twelve sleazy, ear candy tracks, this is the album fans of hair metal have been screaming for over 20 years! According to the band, all they ever wanted to do was satisfy music fans by serving up the kind of songs that made you pump your fist and shout, “Hell yeah, that f**kin’ rocks!”
UZI was influenced by the metal rock wave ridden by bands like AC/DC and Motley Crue. Their debut, a collection full of razor guitars, piston-powered drums, and sleazy-pop hooks, displays ten extraordinary songs unleashing a barrage of swagger. “American Dream” and “Rocker” are soon to be classic metal anthems. Title track “Madhouse,” arguably the album’s best song, will raise blood pressure after just one listen. “Away From My Heart,” one the band’s strongest songs, undoubtedly rivals any rocker ballad by GNR, Motley Crue, or Skid Row.

First Single “Know Your Enemy” Remains No. 1 at Alternative Radio
21st Century Breakdown, Green Day’s highly-anticipated eighth studio album, is being released worldwide today, Friday May 15th, by Reprise Records. The album is the follow-up to 2004’s two-time Grammy Award-winning punk-rock opera American Idiot, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, and went on to sell more than 12 million copies worldwide.
Produced by Butch Vig, 21st Century Breakdown has already earned rapturous reviews from top media outlets, such as Rolling Stone, which called it “even more ambitious than American Idiot” and “a record of die-hard punk ideals tightly scripted, continually ascending classic-rock excitement,” and the New York Times, which noted in an Arts & Leisure cover story that in its drive to top themselves “Green Day has dared to offer something far denser and more demanding: a whirlwind of thoughts about activism, redemption, and destruction. The rage and sorrows of American Idiot are pushed even further in 21st Century Breakdown, in songs where idealism and the urge to annihilate are constantly grappling, never far apart.”
The album’s first single, “Know Your Enemy” is already capturing the imagination of listeners across the country. It has been No. 1 at Alternative radio for three weeks and is the band’s ninth No. 1 single at the format, making them the artist with the second most No. 1’s of all-time at Alternative.
Additionally, Green Day will set televisions ablaze with scheduled performances on: the season finale of Saturday Night Live on May 16th, The Colbert Report on May 21st, the first concert of Good Morning America’s 2009 Summer Concert Series from Rumsey Playfield in Central Park on May 22nd and The Late Show with David Letterman on May 22nd. On Sunday, May 24th, CBS Sunday Morning will air its first in depth interview with Green Day shot in Oakland last month.
Green Day, which is singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, are preparing to launch their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in more than three years. The tour begins July 3rd at Seattle’s Key Arena and will cross North America through the summer, including a July 27th stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, before finishing up with a show at the Forum in Los Angeles on August 25th. Please visit www.greenday.com for all cities, venues, and ticket on-sale dates.
Frontiers Records is excited to announce the European release of the brand new HOWARD LEESE album “Secret Weapon” on July 3rd 2009.
Best known as guitar player for Heart which he joined in 1975 and with whom he stayed for 22 years, Leese co-produced some of their 13 albums. Heart had 20 top 40 singles, 3 International n. 1 singles, a n. 1 album (“Heart”) in 85′, has received 4 Grammy nominations and has sold 40 million records worldwide. Following his decision to leave the band he put together a group in Seattle called “The Brigade”, a band playing some old Free classics and where he could express at best the various influences that shaped up his guitar playing: from Dick Dale (the first live experience that he had) and Mike Bloomfield to Keith Richards, Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac, Jeff Beck, Hendrix, Eric Clapton and of course Paul Kossoff of Free.
In 1997 the legendary Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Co, The Firm with Jimmy Page, Queen) had moved from England to Vancouver and was looking for a U.S. back-up band. Intrigued by how well Leese could play Kossoff’s particular style and licks, he asked him to join his band. In 1998 Howard Leese joined The Paul Rodgers Band and more recently became touring member in the reformed Bad Company line-up. “For the last 10 years, every summer I play shows with Paul Rodgers” says Howard. “But 3 years ago, Paul was doing a QUEEN tour, and I had the summer off. So I decided to record a solo CD. I had just put a studio in my home, and knew it was a perfect time to express myself as an artist”.
Howard Leese has often been called “Heart’s secret weapon”. His debut solo record, aptly titled “Secret Weapon” is an effort that’s sure to thrust him into the spotlight he so patiently has watched dance around in front of him for decades. “”Secret Weapon ” has a wide range of styles. It can go from heavy power trio rock to full symphony orchestra to tender acoustic passages, and that’s just in one song!” says Howard, who offered up such Rock giants like Joe Lynn Turner (former Rainbow and Deep Purple singer), Paul Rodgers, Keith Emerson or Jimi Jamison (ex Survivor), to have their spotlight turn on his record.
Howard Leese takes great pride in having his work heard from the dark depths that linger behind the spotlight. The only difference now is that the secret is out, so he might simply be a weapon – one hell of a weapon! “My fans mean so much to me, they have changed my life” concludes Leese, “Secret Weapon” was a labour of love for all of you, and I hope that you all will love it”.
Tracklisting of “Secret Weapon” includes: Alive Again (vocals Joe Lynn Turner); Heal The Broken Hearted (vocals Paul Rodgers); Hot To Cold (vocals: Deanna Johnston & Joe Lynn Turner), French Quarter (instrumental feat. Keith Emerson); 33 West Street (instrumental feat. Paul Reed Smith), The South Summit (vocals Duke Fame), Rada’s Theme (instrumental), The Vine (vocals Jimi Jamison), In These Eyes (vocals Keith St. John), Vermilion Border (instrumental), I’ve Been Leavin’ You (vocals Andrew Black), Somewhere (Theme From West Side Story) (instrumental).

Rock Gone Wild, America’s newest and most diverse rock festival, has announced two more additions to its already impressive line-up. Twisted Sister, the kings of glam rock and roll, will close the main stage on Saturday, August 22. Sevendust, one of modern rocks biggest acts, helps shut down the huge party on Sunday, August 23.
Twisted Sister will celebrate its 25th anniversary and add to its impressive run of headline festival appearances by closing Saturday’s show at the inaugural Rock Gone Wild. The band sold over 10 million records and issued the classic rock anthems “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock” back in the ‘80’s. More than a decade after the band’s last show in 1987, the quintet reformed at a tribute show and has continued playing together; the reformation includes an astonishing run of over 50 headline festival dates, performing in front of two million people in 23 countries. The group has also had success re-issuing records, recording a Christmas collection and releasing numerous DVDs of its legendary live show, a show that will come alive in all of its glory at RGW. Make sure to catch it-this may be the last time that TS dons the “old school” make-up onstage in the U.S.
Sevendust has become one of modern rock’s biggest bands the hard way-releasing a stream of impressive records and following each with a seemingly never-ending tour. The band is not known for one record or one song, but rather a solid body of work that continues to improve with every new release. The band’s last record, Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow, which featured the huge hits “Inside” and “The Past” is still selling, but the band is already recording the follow-up. The quintet will take a studio break to rock RGW with its blend of heavy metal guitar, rap dynamics and infectious melodies.
With these additions, the line-ups for each day of the festival have been announced:
Thursday: Saxon, Warrant, April Wine, Saigon Kick, Honeymoon Suite, Tyketto, Black ‘N Blue, Tigertailz, Ernie and the Automatics (featuring former Boston members Barry Goudreau and Sib Hashian), Sick of Sarah, Ashamed and Savior.
Friday: Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Jackyl, Cherie Currie (of the Runaways), Powerman 5000, Marcy Playground, Rhino Bucket, Gypsy Pistoleros, Throw the Fight and Crazy Lixx.
Saturday: Twisted Sister, Skid Row, Lita Ford, Dokken, Great White, Kix, L.A. Guns (featuring Phil Lewis), Hardcore Superstar, Primal Fear, Dangerous Toys, Helix, Junkyard, Frankenstein 3000, Sex Department, Mighty Swine and Stallion.
Sunday: George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Candlebox, Sevendust, Saving Abel, Eve 6, Tantric, Armored Saint, Lizzy Borden, Dirty Looks, Lillian Axe, The Texas Hippie Coalition, Downtread and Stuck on Stupid.

Before Gilby Clarke became a super sub in Guns N’ Roses, he was the guitar player and front man for the band Kill For Thrills. This band also features, Jason Nesmith, who is the son of Michael Nesmith from the Monkees. Bassist Todd Muscat, is the brother of former Faster Pussycat guitarist, Brent Muscat. Aside from the ton of connections this band has, the $25,000 question is, are they any good? The answer is, absolutely yes!
All of the songs on Dynamite From Nightmareland were written, or co-written by Gilby Clarke. He proves to have some pretty strong song writing talents, as the songs on this disc are quite good. If you have ever heard any of Clarke’s post Guns N’ Roses material, you will have an idea of what to expect with Kill For Thrills. The music on this disc is completely untypical when comparing it to the many new bands that were releasing music in the early nineties. This isn’t a hair metal band by any means. The tunes on this disc offers up a good mix of sleaze, hard & classic rock. I I have found the harder cuts to be the more enjoyable ones, and “Motorcycle Cowboys” and “Commercial Suicide” deliver that one, two punch to really get this CD firing on all cylinders. “Brother’s Eyes”, “Something for the Suffering” and “Rockets” are also tunes that I like a lot on this disc. Gilby Clarke has a pretty cool voice, albeit a little on the nasaly side, but I have grown to like it. Jason Nesmith serves up some tasty guitar licks on some of the songs here.
I am not sure if it was MCA that killed this band, or if was just bad timing. It is a shame, as this ill promoted release deserved a a better fate than it received. Kill for Thrills is a band that could have easily gone somewhere with a little bit of help. This might not be a mind blowing release, but it does serve up some solid crank worthy tunes that are worth exploring from time to time.
This CD has been out of print for years, but it is definitely worth seeking out, if you can find a copy of it. It often shows up on Ebay, at fairly reasonable prices.
On the liner notes, the first person thanked is none other than Steven Adler. Pretty cool! Buy it if you can find it!

Lead Guitarist Creates More Than Good Music with New Line of Clothing
Scott Bartlett, lead guitarist for the rock quintet Saving Abel, is starting a new fashion trend with his edgy clothing line, TATCo, the artists tattoo company. On the band’s newest video, Drowning (Face Down), the music video for the band’s third single from their gold certified self-titled debut album, Bartlett wears one of the signature pieces from TATCO that is already in select high-end urban clothing boutiques nationwide.
In Memphis during its largest annual music festival, Memphis in May, hundreds of fans converged on a popular boutique, The Baer’s Den, to purchase pieces from the TATCo line and get up close and personal with Bartlett during the company’s soft launch. Bartlett also unveiled his newest addition to the company with Zach Meyers of Shinedown, a line of TATCO clothing featuring Meyers’ famous body tattoos that are now on vests and shirts for purchase. “It’s pretty cool to see your fans at the concert with your tattoos on their shirts, screaming your name and singing your songs. You definitely feel a connection to them,” said Meyers.
The concept behind TATCo is to fuse rock music and tattoo art in creative clothing designs inspired by the bands and artists in today’s alternative rock genre. “Our fans love our music and our tattoos, but they can’t go out and get the tattoo of every band that they add to their CD collection. TATCo makes it possible to rock out in a new way,” said Bartlett on a recent interview with an ABC affiliate about his new clothing line.
Hundreds of fans have already purchased TATCo gear even though the official launch of the clothing company is not until May 30th in Kansas City, Missouri.
There have been many famous high-profile feuds between musicians, some of the most notable in recent memory have been between Jay-Z and Nas, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, and now brothers Rock Star and Super Star are starting a war with one of metal’s greatest vocalists, Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach. This feud wasn’t instigated with malice at heart, but rather the desire to help kids and bring attention to a great cause.
The feud started when a simple video clip (less than a minute long) was posted on Sebastian Bach’s MySpace page, updating fans about the progress he’s made in the recording studio. The brothers Star caught wind of this clip and decided to ruffle some feathers, but they had much grander plans up their sleeve. They crafted their own parody video, a send-up of Bach’s studio clip, and posted it as a response to Bach’s video. They pulled no punches; with admiration for this legend and a great sense of humor, they cleverly lampooned Bach’s update.
All of the great Rock and Roll feuds sparked a terrific idea for the brothers, which led them to start this war with Bach so that they might be able to draw attention to a cause we all have some relationship with. We Are One (www.weareoneonline.com) is an organization established by Rock Star (Marc Kancler) and Super Star (Kris Kancler) to help kids who are recovering from drug addiction. They’ve set out on a mission to provide these kids with a safe place away from negative influence, offering them workshop jam sessions, free pizza and a place where they can look to someone who can understand what they’re going through.
Tied in closely with their organization is the concept for the brothers’ latest project, a new CD and book package entitled “Serenity.” The lineup of guest stars announced so far includes George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob), Jon Oliva and Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Mark Slaughter (Slaughter), Bruce Kulick (Kiss) and quite a few other very special surprise guests.
The Rock duo’s video can be found in the “News” section on their We Are One site — www.weareoneonline.com
“VanScott’s debut Thief of Time to top charts”- Producer Duane Baron (Ozzy, Hoobastank)
VanScott is a high energy, hard rock band whose original songs are a melodic and emotional journey taken from the life of VanScott’s front man, Jamie VanScott. Song lyrics have been inspired by everything from drugs and one night stands to hope and love.
Veteran producer Duane Baron, who has produced the likes of Ozzy Ozbourne, Buck Cherry and Motley Crue recorded the album and believes that “this record could be one of the biggest debuts to hit the shelves this year in North America.”
Jamie VanScott and band mates Dean Abram, Jason Dyck and Dave Hoyt-Walterhouse have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Nickelback, Finger eleven, Collective Soul, Creed and many more of today’s icons.
VanScott members say their influences range from Pearl Jam to Ani Difranco and The Doors but Baron is quick to say that “you can’t really compare VanScott to anyone because they sound original.”
Songs included on Thief of Time were recorded in various studios from Randy Bachman’s (The Guess Who, B.T.O) in British Columbia, to Metalworks Studio in Toronto, The Jungle Room in Atlanta, Georgia and The Banyan Tree Studios in Hollywood, California.
VanScott is seeking the guidance from those that matter most – the FANS! They want listeners everywhere to vote for the first single on their album to be released at www.vanscottonline.com
“I would put this record up against any new release coming out today because I feel the songs are that strong!” – Duane Baron
Vanscott a melodic rock band… making more than just sound waves Fall 2009.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday 15th May and be sure to get your tickets early as this will be a one off chance to see them in such an intimate venue! Additionally the band have confirmed their first ever UK festival appearance at Download on June 14th 2009.
Steel Panther will also be releasing their debut album, Feel The Steel, on Island Records on June 8th. This mythical musical masterpiece has been 20 years in the making with the band retuning in 2009 to reclaim their rightful place among metal music’s heavyweights. Powered by audacious frontman Michael Starr’s fearless vocal charge, the group ignites audiences from every walk of life with their unbridled valentine that goes right for the jugular of the heavy metal repertoire. Joining the effervescent Starr are Steel Panther’s Stix Zadinia on drums, Satchel on guitar, and bassist Lexxi Foxxx.
As word of Steel Panther’s return began to spread around the music community, a who’s who of musical artists stepped up to join the band in reclaiming metals place among the top of the music landscape. Allison Robertson of the Donnas and Justin Hawkins from the Darkness make an appearance on the Steel Panther mantra number, “Party All Day.” Anthrax’s Scott Ian shows up on the soon to be international hit, “Asian Hooker” alongside Slipknot’s Corey Taylor who also appears on the soon-to-be classics, “Eyes Of A Panther” and the first single, “Death To All But Metal.”
The four member band, known for their outrageous stage presence and gargantuan guitar riffs have been entertaining fans and scores of rock and entertainment VIPs with their raucous antics via L.A.’s longest running heavy metal show on the Sunset Strip for nearly a decade (now running at the infamous Key Club every Monday night). The band also holds residencies at the Green Valley Resort and Casino on Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas. UK metal magazine Kerrang recently attended a Steel Panther show and quickly professed: “Hair metal is back and it is here to fuck your girlfriend.”
Known for their lively between-song banter and dead-on affirmation of metal’s ‘golden age,’ the group’s debut effort promises to exude the same Steel Panther bravado and irreverent vitality that has compelled a stable of revered artists join them on stage through the years, including Gene Simmons of Kiss, Dave Navarro, Tommy Lee, Perry Farrell, Billie Ray Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Pink and Jessica Simpson.
With critics raving that their sold-out brand of ‘unmistakable roaring rock’ has put the fun back in music, the band also carries their unvarnished sense of excess over to their website http://www.steelpantherrocks.com or their myspace page, http://www.myspace.com/steelpantherkickass – which embodies another stirring quality of Steel Panther – truth in advertising.
After 20 years in the making, it’s time to let the cat out of the cage…

For those of you unfamiliar with Steelhouse Lane, Keith Slack is a very good singer with a slight rasp in his voice. His voice is well suited for this style of rock. He has a very cool sound that oscillates between Kelly Keeling and Whitesnake front man, David Coverdale. While on the subject of Whitesnake, former Whitesnake keyboardist Don Airey lends a hand on the title track ” Straight Up”.
The real star on this CD, is Taz Taylor whose excellent guitar licks grace this CD. Taylor, whose influences include MSG, Randy Rhoads, Van Halen and Gary Moore, does a good job of serving up some quality guitar work to back up Slack’s vocals.
While I have enjoyed the vocals and the guitar work on this CD, the songs aren’t quite there. It is almost as if the choruses don’t make the impact that they should. The music is good, but the songs don’t stick with me. This disc doesn’t live up to the Taz Taylor Band’s 2006 effort “Welcome to America” with Graham Bonnet.
If you listen to one song, check out “Razor Tongue”, this song is one of the highlights on “Straight Up”.
