Stryper – Murder By Pride (2009)

StryperMurderByPride Stryper is back with their follow up effort to 2005’s come back effort “Reborn”. I believe their new disc, Murder by Pride is going to please a lot of fans of classic Stryper.

Michael Sweet is in fine vocal form, and Oz Fox plays some excellent guitar on this disc.

Murder By Pride kicks off with the rocking tune “Eclipse of the Son”.  This song gets the disc going quickly with its high speed rhythm, and howling vocals of Michael Sweet.

“4 Leaf Clover” keeps the pace going.  Oz Fox plays some killer guitar riffs on this track!

Stryper covers the Boston classic, “Peace of Mind” with guitarist Tom Scholz.  This is an awesome rendition of this tune. This could easily be the best cover song of 2009.

The title track “Murder By Pride” sounds like it could have come off of the “To Hell With the Devil” album.  This song will become a new Stryper hit before long.

“I Believe” has a cool modern rock vibe to it, that should help it get some radio play.  This is a cool tune.

For the U.S. release, this album ends with a couple of great rockers “Everything” and “My Love”. Both of these are easily my favorites from this record. Much to my surprise, is the sound of the rocker “My Love”. The opening riffs had me headbanging immediately.  This song has big guitars, and drums and that wouldn’t be out of place on a Thin Lizzy record.

The European version of this album includes the song, “My Love, My Life, My Flame”.  This is a piano based ballad that was originally on the now hard to find, Michael Sweet solo disc, Touched. This is a good song, and a nice bonus to those who grab the import CD.

Murder By Pride is another solid effort by Stryper.  Long time fans of the band need to get this.  Recommended!

Just picked up this CD. A blast from the past! Every track reminds me of the way Stryper was in the 80’s. If you don’t have this one yet, GO GET IT!

    Nice review.

To me, this is Stryper’s best album to date, if you’re thinking about buying it, stop thinking and just go for it. This album pwnz.
