Heaven’s Basement sent out the following message tonight:
It is our sad duty to announce that for personal reasons Rob has decided to
leave the band. This is to take place immediately and so he will no longer be
playing any of the up coming shows. This is a sad day for us as a band as Rob
has been our friend and partner in crime since the beginning. But it is his
desire to now move on to different pastures and as sad as we are, we respect
that and support him in every way. He is and always will be a friend of Heaven’s
Basement. With his help we have managed to secure a temporary replacement to
fulfil the up coming shows, until a permanent replacement can be found. For
those of you planning to come to any of the next gigs we will be playing a
slightly shorter set than usual given the little amount of time we’ve had to
prepare, but we’ll still be making the most of each show! All of us would like
to wish Rob luck for the future, see below for a message from Rob.
Richie, Sid, Jonny, Chris
“I am writing this blog with great regret for I have decided to leave Heaven’s
Basement and move on to pastures new. I have had 10 amazing years of highs and
lows working as a musician. But after much deliberation, battleing with my own
thoughts and feelings, I have come to realize that my heart is just not in it
Myself and the guys remain the best of friends, and I wish them all the success
they deserve. They really are a great bunch of guys, whom I admire and respect.
I have shared many, many good times with them over the years. The memories of
which will stay with me forever.
I just want to thank you all for your fantastic and loyal support. I have come
across many bands, but few have the dedicated followers that Heaven’s Basement
have generated and it’s a pleasure to have met you all!
Please continue to spread the word of The Basement and get behind the boys and
whoever steps into my place. I hope he has a good sense of humour as he’s gonna
need it to get through the cannings!!!
All that remains for me to say really, is a very, very fond farewell to you all,
and maybe I’ll see you all at a gig sometime in the future, but as a fan this
Mortal Music and MVD Audio are proud to announce the digital release of Lock 13 – Inner Enemy on September 8th worldwide.
Mixing both classic and modern metallic sounds – without sacrificing the importance of melody – the Birmingham, AL-based trio, Lock 13, are about to make major waves with their latest album, the digital-only release, Inner Enemy. Comprised of vocalist Jon Childers, guitarist Drew Hall, and drummer Brad Aaron, the band recently signed with the label Mortal Music – the label founded by Tim King (SOil) and Rob Such (Twelfth Gate, Chicago Powerfest).
“When I first heard Lock 13, I immediately thought of them as a band that makes timeless music,” states King, SOil bassist and co-founder of Mortal Music. “This is such a rare trait in bands today, especially since trends go so fast, and disposable heroes are a dime a dozen”
Mortal Music quickly signed the band and King began working on songs with them to add to thier new album. Shortly thereafter, Lock 13 hunkered down at Bieler Brothers Studio with producer Tadpole (Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Plain White T’s). The album was then mixed by Ulrich Wild (Pantera, White Zombie, Deftones, Seether), and the results are sure to catch the ear of admirers of rock/metal fans, as evidenced by such standout tracks as “Can You” and “Faded.”
The band has built a solid fan base in the south and has toured as far as Chicago and Los Angeles to spread their music. Having performed with the likes of breaking Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, and 3 Doors Down, the band plans to hit the road in support of the new release with dates to be announced soon.

Swedish Hardrockers BONES OF FREEDOM have just released their full lenght album “World Domination 1” through Spook Records. This CD is the follow up from their critically acclaimed 2008 debut E.P “Butterfly”. Both releases have been self financed by the band, recorded and produced at Studio Hardrock Gothenburg and released through Spook Records, Lossiemouth, Scotland.
World Domination is the theme (don’t mention concept) of the album, rather than the bands manifesto and boasts 13 tracks covering subjects that dominate our world today. Themes include Love, Sex, Money, Greed, Reality TV, Global Warming,Myths & Legends, History and Religion.
The four elements of the band blend their varied influences and give them time to distil in order to produce a pure, ballsy, soulful classic rock sound with attitude that at times manages to sound contemporary yet also contains hints of their hippie psychedelic leanings and plays like a soundtrack to their 70’s childhoods. World Domination 1 is available in CD format via mail order online at www.myspace.com/bonesoffreedom & www.spookrecords.co.uk. World Domination 1 is also available to download through iTunes worldwide.

BULLETBOYS has completed the first leg of their Road To Nowhere Tour dubbed Summer Rockfest with Faster Pussycat and the Bang Tango All Star Jam plus Sister Sin. Overall, the tour was a success and the bands headed home for a well deserved break.
On a side note; Drummer Ryche Green was rushed to the ER upon returning home. Ryche became very ill while on tour and has since been diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia. Ryche has been confined to ICU in a breathing tent. Ryche carried on playing night after night while ill until he could no longer function. We wish Ryche a speedy recovery. Consequently the show for Sept 5th at Club Skye in AZ was cancelled and rescheduled for Halloween Eve Oct 31, 2009.
The BULLETBOYS as well as Chavis Records and 3SIXT Entertainment would like to thank Taime and the Pussies for a great tour. We would also like to thank the techs and sound engineer for all their hard work. The camaraderie between the bands and crew was superb to say the least.
Current plans for BULLETBOYS to head out on Leg II of Road To Nowhere Tour will be announced in the coming weeks.
Frontiers Records proudly announces the release of WINGER’s fifth studio album entitled “Karma” on October 16th in Europe and October 27th in the USA.
WINGER reunited after more than a decade in 2006 for the release of the successful come back album entitled “IV” a record that pushed forward the boundaries of WINGER classic sound to new heights. Dealing with the concept of the military life and what it was like to be a soldier, from a soldier’s perspective, leaving politics at the door. “After Winger IV we toured the United States, Europe, Australia and Japan during which made a live record” says Kip Winger. “When the chance came up to do a new Winger record, I envisioned a upbeat totally rocking record that was a cross between the 1st Winger album and Pull. So Reb and I sat down and wrote all the music in a month or so. I worked for 6 months to finish it in the classic Winger style”.
The result is an amazing new record where the four band members: Kip Winger (bass and vocals), Reb Beach (guitars now also in Whitesnake), Rod Morgenstein and John Roth shine with an incredible instrumental and vocal prowess at the service of superb Hard Rock songs but with an uncanny sense of melody. The title itself “Karma” represents Winger completing its full musical circle as Kip Winger explains “We were discussing the very interesting path the band has had and we have all been through so much together. So we went for “Karma” as this is a word that truly sums up the experience of being in the band”.
WINGER debut album in 1988 on Atlantic achieved platinum status in the United States, and gold in Japan and Canada sporting such hits as “Madalaine“, “Seventeen” and “Headed For A Heartbreak“. In 1990, the band was nominated for an American Music Award for “Best New Heavy Metal Band”. Shortly after, WINGER released its second album “In the Heart of the Young“, which went platinum in the U.S. and gold in Japan. The album included WINGER’s biggest hit “Miles Away“, who topped at #12 of Billboard charts in the USA. Their third and last studio album, “Pull“, was recorded in 1992/93 as a three-piece band, following the original keyboard / guitar player Paul Taylor’s departure. Produced by Mike Shipley, on the following tour John Roth was called in to replace Paul Taylor.
“Usually Winger fans don’t “expect” anything because they know we do what we feel like doing artistically” explains Kip. “It is not a commercially driven band. I can say that the songs are very upbeat”. Reb Beach adds: “It’s a very up-tempo riff driven rocking record. It has the elements of vintage Winger from ‘89 but has the blood, sweat and tears of years 20 years of writing, recording and touring!”
“Karma” will be released with the first pressing in limited digipak edition and includes the following songs:
Deal With The Devil; Stone Cold Killer; Big World Away; Come A Little Closer; Pull Me Under; Supernova; Always Within Me; Feeding Frenzy; After All This Time; Witness; First Ending (Bonus Track). Also included there will be an Electronic Press Kit, with footage filmed in the studio during the recording sessions, that is playable on all computers as an interactive bonus.
Winger also announced their forthcoming European tour in support to the new album’s release

When I was first introduced to the band Carbon 9, the first thing I saw and heard was their cover of Danzig’s “Mother”. I like that tune pretty well, and I thought Carbon 9 butchered a good song. Maybe that wasn’t a fair assessment, but I didn’t want to hear any more songs off of The Bull. I was a little too quick to discount this band, but decided to revisit their CD, at a later time, when I could look at it with a fresh perspective. I am glad I did, because the songs on The Bull are much better than the Danzig cover.
Carbon 9’s sound is a blend of industrial and modern hard rock. At first, I thought they were going to be another Nine Inch Nails clone, but their music might be closer to Dope than NIN.
“My Friend” offers up some cool guitar riffs, and some bass licks that wouldn’t expect to hear from a band of this genre.
“Somebody Like Me” is a heavy rocker has a catchy chorus that should help this song find its way to mainstream rock radio. The title track, “The Bull” is another radio ready rocker, that has some cool synthesizer effects in it. This is a good tune.
After hearing some of the songs on this CD, I understood this band quite a bit more. I have even grown to like their cover of “Mother” that once turned me off of this band.
“Butterflies in My Head”, “This Life” and “I’m Not Broken” are amongst my favorites on this disc as well.
“Tongues” the album closer is a bizarre ending to this disc. The song starts off with random outdoor sounds, and adds tribal beats, Indian chants and more. I am not sure what they were trying to accomplish with this song, but this was not the way to close out this CD.
Overall, I think The Bull is a solid debut effort for Carbon 9. If you like bands like Dope,Disturbed or Soulidium, chances are you will enjoy Carbon 9 as well.
