LEGENDARY BAND CELEBRATES TWO ALBUMS IN THE BILLBOARD TOP 200 SIMULTANEOUSLY!….
NEW RELEASE CAN’T SLOW DOWN ENTERS AT NUMBER 29;….
2008 RELEASE NO END IN SIGHT ALSO ON CHARTS
Foreigner, one of the world’s most popular and enduring rock bands, celebrates having two albums in the Billboard Top 200 chart simultaneously. The band’s new release, Can’t Slow Down, entered the upper atmosphere of the chart at a very impressive number 29, their highest entry since Inside Information made its number 15 chart debut in 1987. Their 2008 album release, No End In Sight: The Very Best of Foreigner, re-entered the chart at number 147. This unique achievement puts Foreigner in a class of its own as the only classic rock artist in recent history to have two albums, both featuring newly recorded tracks, in the Top 200 simultaneously. This week, the first single taken from the album, “When It Comes To Love”, debuted on the Radio & Records Adult Contemporary Top Thirty chart at number 28.
Foreigner’s brand of a thrilling mix of blustery blues and impeccably crafted pop continues to captivate generation after generation of music fans. Founded in 1976, Foreigner has sold more than 70 million albums and has experienced multi-platinum success around the world.
Gary Shea, original bass player for Alcatrazz, will be the special guest on the next edition of Hard Rock Nights, the nationally syndicated radio program October 9-15.
Shea will talk with JT his time with the AOR band New England, working briefly with Vinnie Cusano (prior to his days as Vinnie Vincent in KISS), and forming the band Alcatrazz. In discussing Alcatrazz, Shea will talk about former bandmates Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and Danny Johnson, all of whom played guitar for the classic hard rock outfit, as well as vocalist Graham Bonnet and his current group touring as Alcatrazz.
In addition to the chat with Shea, JT will spin some of the best hard rock from the past four decades. Hard Rock Nights can be heard on several rock and metal stations. For a complete list of affiliates, click http://hardrocknights.wordpress.com/affiliates
WIN A COPY OF ZZ TOP’s DOUBLE DOWN LIVE 2 DVD SET FROM HARDROCKHIDEOUT.COM!
ZZ Top will be releasing Double Down Live, the first historic concert performance ever to be approved for release by the band. Clocking in at just under two hours, this double dose disc delivers twenty-eight years of hard rock, blues, and boogie – ZZ Top Style! The package hits stores on October 20th through Eagle Rock Entertainment.
Disc one, filmed in 1980, is dubbed “DEFINITELY THEN” and is packed with 22 early ZZ Top classics from their Tres Hombres and Fandango! albums, including: “La Grange,” “Tush,” “Cheap Sunglasses,” “Tube Snake Boogie,” and more, many of which remain in their live set to this day. This concert was captured at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany for the Rockpalast TV series. The concert took place hot on the heels of the release, 30 years ago, of their classic Deguello album (it features 9 of the 10 songs from it). The show found ZZ Top in the era prior to the band’s discovery of sequencers and synthesizers and epitomized the down ‘n’ dirty take no prisoners attitude of “that lil’ ol’ band from Texas” nickname. To this day, this disc is a true best of ZZ Top in the seventies.
Disc two, subtitled “ALMOST NOW,” was shot during their European tour in 2008, includes 11 performances, interview clips, and backstage footage to create the ultimate ZZ Top on the road movie.
