MOB RULES – RADICAL PEACE IS AN EPIC AND MELODIC METAL STATEMENT
Mob Rules are no strangers to making Melodic Power Metal sounding so inviting to the Metal masses. Since their 1999 debut album Savage Land, this Northern Germany band has paid their dues and laid the Metal groundwork for their sixth studio album Radical Peace, to be released on January 29, 2010.
To become captivated by the atmospheric keyboards of Sascha Onnen and the melodic, yet searing guitar dueling of Matthias Mineur and Sven Luke is the likely result for Mob Rules and Power Metal fans alike. A great rhythm section is built around trust, Nikolas Fritz on drums and Markus Brinkman on bass have instilled the “I’ve got your back” style tighter than a platinum coil. Still, the big draw on Radical Peace are the vocals of Klaus Dirks, who leads one to believe his Metal idol could very well be Geoff Tate of Queensryche, book ended by Mark Boals of Yngwie Malmsteen fame and Kai Hansen of Gamma Ray. Make no mistake, Klaus Dirks is not stealing the Power Metal show on Radical Peace, this is an extremely talented, solid and tight group effort that pays off in the total quality of songs.
Mob Rules adds plenty of risky inventiveness to their lyrics on Radical Peace that pays off in powerful dividends. The Oswald Files opens with a historically famous John F. Kennedy address to the great nation of Germany, then kicks in with the Power Metal stomp that represents itself as the segue to an 18 minute epic, bestowing plenty of progressiveness that is worth a hundred listens in a row… really. Musically, The Oswald Files exemplifies why European Power Metal is truly grandiose and why Mob Rules has raised their own musical bar. Lyrically this song questions if John Oswald was really the trigger man responsible for JFK’s assassination.
Children Of The Flames lyrically visits the abhorring topic of Nazi death camp villain – Josef Mengele. This vile and evil creature’s cruel experiments on child prisoners is a touchy subject, with Mob Rules NOT glorifying this devil, they are instead not forgetting the suffering of the innocents.
Waiting For The Sun, outside of The Oswald Files, is another standout song, an electrifying brilliant Melodic Power Metal song to psyche out the senses. Trial By Fire and Warchild illustrate clearly the sensational prowess of atmosphere combined with heaviness, highlighting why Mob Rules should be a major Melodic Metal player for years to come. By now, anyone should realize, that I must openly admit, Radical Peace is a must buy.

The Scorpions posted the following today:
It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you – whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.
While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.
We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!
We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album on our website for you.

Frontiers Records to release TREAT brand new reunion album “Coup De Grace” on March 19th in Europe and April 6th in the USA.
January 2010 – Twenty-five years after the release of their sensational debut album “Scratch and Bite” and eighteen year since their last self-titled studio album saw the light of day, Swedish melodic rock legends Treat are out to get you on the run again!
“Coup de Grace” is the album that every melodic rock fan hoped for but never dared to dream of: a classic rock masterpiece with thunderous guitars, powerful yet seductive melodies and hook-laden songs, all wrapped up in a production that combines the best of “now” and “then”.
It´s been twenty-five years in the making, says guitarist and main songwriter Anders Wikström. Since day one I knew we had this album in us. The ideas were there. The vision. But it took us this long to find the right tools to make it all come true. It took five albums, millions of miles on the road, a thirteen year long break and a whole new perspective on life to get it right. In hindsight it now seems that everything we´ve done since we formed the band has been pointing in one direction. Of course we didn´t know it back then, but this is what we aimed for all along, says Anders.
So here we are, in 2010 Treat is releasing their sixth album, not counting the best of “Weapons of Choice”, released when the band reformed in 2006. “Coup de Grace” is a collection of songs that is so much more than just kick-ass-sing-along-rock´n´roll-songs. They are more a sort of mini autobiographies from five grown men reflecting on life. Back then, in the 80´s, it was rock´n´roll twenty-four-seven: big guitars, big choruses, big hair, babes and booze.
This album is a statement of who we are today, explains Anders Wikström. We’re older… yeah, perhaps even wiser. We look at our lives and the world around us in a different way. I wanted to reflect that in our lyrics. I mean, we’re all fathers and we raise our kids in a world that’s in a turmoil. There’s a lot of pressures, fears and tough expectations. The rat race is spinning out of control, but everybody expect you to be happy. The big guitars are still there and became even bigger. The big choruses. The big sound. The hair… yeah, well, you know: they’re in the mid forties. Booze? Nah. Babes? Yeah. Their wives and girlfriends. The mothers of their kids. But there’s as new “big” in the Treat equation: the courage to let their fears, worries and views on both politics and the modern life that wears us all down reflect in the lyrics. It was the natural thing to do. I mean, life is so much more than rock´n´roll all night and party every day, says Wikström.
But make no mistakes: Treat is a rock´n´roll brigade. A force of nature. Today even stronger and more powerful than ever. From the opening somewhat haunting prelude, that sets the tone of the album, the right-in-your face rock´n´roll grenade The war is over, the soul searching Paper tiger to the trademark power ballad A life to die for and Roar, where the band manages to make an epic with a hit feeling, Treat is telling all the world that they’re back. Bigger, better and bolder.
We got back together in 2006 because we all missed playing together. We released a compilation album and did a tour, but we weren’t sure what to do next. In 2008 we all felt that we had an album to do, continues Wikström. I started demoing songs and in May 2009 we were ready to hit the studio.
Produced and recorded in Stockholm, Sweden by Anders Wikström, partly together with keyboard player Patrick Appelgren, “Coup de Grace”, is an album that’s going to stand out in a musical climate where mediocrity and superficiality are an asset but where talent, musicianship and dedication is not required to make the charts.
“Coup de Grace” includes the following tracks:
Prelude – Coup de Grace; The War Is Over; All In, Paper Tiger; Roar; A Life To Die For; Tangled Up; Skies of Mongolia; Heaven Can Wait; I’m Not Runnin’; No Way Without You; We Own The Night; All For Love; Breathless.
This is our footprint in the history of rock´n´roll, concludes Anders Wikström. We can proudly say that this is the album we would like to show our grandkids!
TREAT is ANDERS WIKSTRÖM (guitars and backing vocals), ROBERT ERNLUND (lead vocals), JAMIE BORGER (drums), NALLE PÅHLSSON (bass and backing vocals) and PATRICK APPELGREN (keyboards/guitar and backing vocals)

After the demise of the Christian Metal band Liberty N’ Justice, band found Justin Murr decided to carry on with the Liberty N’ Justice name. Without a band at his disposal, he has brought in countless rockers to help create the songs from Liberty N’ Justice. Light It Up, is the brand new CD that was recently released by LNJ . It is s a star studded affair, and a damn fine release at that.
Typically, I am not a big fan of compilation CD’s, but Light it Up is a well rounded affair, and sounds great all the way through.
The first time I heard the title track “Light It Up” I did a double take. I could not believe this was Phil Lewis on vocals. Lewis sings in a lower key than I am accustomed to hearing him sing in. This is a rockin’ tune, and a pretty cool way to start off this CD.
Dale and Troy Thompson from Bride blast out the tune “The Other Thief” which sounds like it could be an unreleased Black Sabbath tune.
CJ Snare and Bill Leverty take the song “Blink” and make it sound like a lost Firehouse classic. I could see Firehouse doing this song live. Great tune!
“Man vs. Mother Nature” reunites the team of Ted Poley & Vic Rivera. If you liked the Poley /Rivera album, of any Danger Danger tunes, you are going to love this awesome song. This is easily the best on Light it Up.
“Uncle Sam”, which combines the talents of Sheldon Tarsha and Foreigner’s Jeff Pilson. If you haven’t heard Tarsha sing before, you are truly missing out. I would have never thought about combing Tarsha with Pilson, but this combination works. This is another terrific tune.
“Every Reason To Believe” is an acoustic based tune which features Kelly Keeling & Kerri Kelli. I have always loved Keeling’s voice, and he delivers with this song. If “Every Reason To Believe” would have been released in the late eighties, it would have been a monster hit. I can imagine a stadium full of lit lighters (or cellphones) swaying to this excellent tune.
I must admit that haven’t listened to a ton of Harem Scarem. “Beautiful Decision” which features Harem Scarem’s Harry Hess & Pete Lesperance, is a fantastic melodic rocker that is going to have me shopping for some Harem Scarem CD’s.
If “Greed” is any example of what the new Warrant tunes will sound like, sign me up now. I have loved just about everything Robert Mason has been involved in, and I can add LNJ’s “Greed” to that list.
Overall, “Light It Up” is one of my favorite new releases of 2010. If you are looking for a CD that can offer you a lot of variety, strong writing, and great sounding songs, you don’t need to look any further than Libery N’ Justice’s Light It Up.

After three years of loyal patience, ANDREW W.K. fans can finally experience the ‘lost’ third album from the established party rocker. Previously released in Japan and Korea in 2006, CLOSE CALLS WITH BRICK WALLS will officially become available in the United States on February 23, 2010, being released by STEEV MIKE, as a special two album package (the original CLOSE CALLS WITH BRICK WALLS on one disc, and an additional CD called MOTHER OF MANKIND, containing rare and unreleased material). After the recent release of 55 CADILLAC – a compilation of improvised solo piano compositions – CLOSE CALLS WITH BRICK WALLS and MOTHER OF MANKIND deliver the slamming, inspirational music for which Andrew W.K. is loved, coupled with new sounds and feelings rarely associated with his traditional work.
Close Calls With Brick Walls was recorded in multiple sessions throughout 2004 and 2005, using the full Andrew W.K. touring band for the first time. With a full instrumental band, the new album includes exciting new performances, styles, and rhythms. The lyrics are more complex although still very playful, and Andrew’s voice has grown into something much more distinct and expressive.
The roots of the album and the changes it signals lie in the story behind the unorthodox path Andrew took to fame and, specifically, the dramatic contrast between his early years as part of a free-spirited music scene in his hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan and the transformation in attitude and image and personality that came about after he had assumed the role of Andrew W.K..
The trademark white t-shirt and jeans he wore in public was also adopted in order to help create an easily-identifiable image. And it worked. Audiences embraced Andrew W.K. as the long-haired, straight-talking, everyman rock icon who oozed positivity and made his fans feel that not only was it OK to be different but that it was OK to be yourself and not feel embarrassed about being awkward or unusual.
In one sense, Close Calls With Brick Walls is the sound of Andrew W.K. reclaiming and embracing aspects of his personality and his music that were obscured and closed off to him by the process of generating an image and a persona that could be sold to the public. The cover of the album even suggests as much. It features an image of Andrew W.K. standing, arms crossed and dressed in his trademark white tee-shirt, in front of a brick wall that is painted a shade of indigo so dark it appears to be swallowing all the light around it. There’s a gleam in his eye and a broad smile pasted across his face. But, oddly, he doesn’t look as if he’s having fun. The entire package seems to pose a conundrum.
Since the initial 2006 release of Close Calls, Andrew’s career has certainly moved in all sorts of surprising directions. He did a lot of things that were unexpected, yet offered little in the way of explanation for behavior that, on one level, seemed quite natural and, on another, entirely unnatural. Instead of promoting and touring the album in the U.S., he went on a lecture tour as an inspirational new-age motivational speaker. He cut his hair. It grew back. He stepped out of his dirty whites and into a tailored suit to model for gentleman’s magazines like Esquire and V-Man, he produced a Grammy-nominated album for reggae artist, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, opened a night club in New York (Santos Party House) and became the host of the Cartoon Network game show, Destroy Build Destroy. He recorded a solo piano album and went on tour with a classical string quartet.
And so the story comes full circle. The world catches up with Andrew W.K. and, in return, he releases Close Calls With Brick Walls, the album that the world was almost denied from hearing by forces beyond his control. But rather than crash into walls that barred his way to make that happen, he broke them down brick by brick and then stepped on through to the other side. And where he goes from here… who knows?

Melodic rockers Last Autumn’s Dream are back with their 7th release “A Touch of Heaven”, and it will have melodic rock fans chomping at the bit, wanting to get their hands on it. The German/Swedish group made up of Mikael Erlandsson (Lead Vocals, keyboards), Andy Malecek ( Guitars) Nalley Pahlsson ( Bass, vocals), Jamie Borger ( Drums, vocals) have put together one hell of a good album. Picking up where the bands’ last effort “Dreamcatcher” left off the band continues to perfect their sound and songwriting with songs ranging from custom built stadium anthems, mid-tempo rockers, to ballads. The guys even let their Cheap Trick influence shine through on both “See My Baby Jive” and a cover of the legends staple “Surrender”. Erlandsson and Malecek both shine on “A Touch of Heaven”, Erlandsson continues to show me why he is fast becoming one of my favorite singers today. The rhythm section of Pahlsson and Borger are tight and steady throughout the album, which may make their performances shine even brighter considering the fact they have not been playing together very long, Pahlsson replaced Marcel Jacob, who passed away last year.
“A Touch of Heaven” starts off with a brief intro titled “Heaven & Earth”, before heading into “Caught In Between”, which is a mid tempo number with a sing along chorus and some great bass from Pahlsson and a great solo from Malecek, who proves great solos are not all about flash and speed. “Top of the World” is next and like I said earlier it is a custom built stadium anthem, in my opinion would be a great way to kick off a live show as a way to get the crowd involved right from the start. “Top of the World” is just a great foot tapping, sing along song something the world needs more of these days. “Candle In The Dark” is another mid-tempo number, but a little more balladesque than “Caught In Between”, but still a good song nonetheless. “Come Rain Or Shine” is our fourth track and it can easily put up a good fight for best song on “A Touch of Heaven”, excellent playing by everyone involved, but Malecek’s solo and playing are simply brilliant. With some great background vocals, as well “Come Rain or Shine” is another great foot tapping sing along song. “Heartbreaker” has my vote as best song on the album, but that is definitely subject to change at any moment. Everything about this song is great from the chorus to the keyboards to the solo, it is just perfect melodic rock. The band get a little help from the one and only Jeff Scott Soto on “Last Mistake” as he contributed background vocals for this mid tempo gem, fans of Firehouse should find a lot to like about this song. Fans of Cheap Trick and Enuff Z’nuff will find a lot to love about “See My Baby Jive” as it could easily pass for a song from either band as well one more contender for best song on “A Touch of Heaven”. “What’s On Your Mind” & “How Long” are two more outstanding songs on “A Touch of Heaven” custom built for radio airplay as is the majority of this album.
If you have never heard Last Autumn’s Dream before “A Touch of Heaven” is the perfect starting point to get to know the band before going back to check out the rest of their catalog, if you are a long time fan of Last Autumn’s Dream then “A Touch of Heaven” will not disappoint at all. Simply put “A Touch of Heaven” is an excellent album worthy of your hard earned dollars.

NIGHTMARE “INSURRECTION” – POWER METAL LEGENDS RETURN WITH A VENGEANCE!
When you think of a nightmare, it usually is the uninvited mind intruder in the middle of your sleep, maybe it’s the backup on the freeway during rush hour. Fear not fellow Metalheads, this Nightmare are the Power Metal warriors hailing from France and they reached a Heavy Metal milestone in 2009… their 30th anniversary of creating some of the best Power Metal to come out of Europe and the entire planet for that matter! To sustain the success and quality of Power Metal that Nightmare has achieved over three decades, is a legitimate Heavy Metal celebration. What better way to celebrate Nightmare’s legacy than to dive right into their September 11, 2009 release – Insurrection, on AFM Records.
Once you begin listening to Insurrection, if your like me, you’ll feel that the overwhelming waves of melodic Power Metal never sounded so glorious. “Decameron”, “Target For Revenge” and “Angels Of Glass” encompass every muscular nugget of what I crave for from Nightmare’s Power Metal attack. “Three Miles Island” is arguably the heaviest and fastest song on Insurrection, satisfying my need for Power Metal speed. Legions Of The Rising Sun does not lag far behind on the speed scale either, with guitarists Franck Milleliri and JC Jess impressing beyond my wildest Metal belief. “Eternal Winter” is a powerfully perfect song to culminate the Insurrection listening experience, with it’s anthemic chorus and slower tempo making for an emotionally driven ending. Nightmare has as formidable of a guitar duo here as any Heavy Metal band in 2010. Throughout Insurrection, the melodic licks are contagiously unreal.
Insurrection is a potent Power Metal release from 2009, one that Nightmare should beat their chests to with pride. Jo Amore on lead vocals can take a Metal bow, his range and pitch are to not just be enjoyed… revered as well. Jo Amore’s brother, David, plays the drums with precision and intensity, only magnifying the power of Insurrection to jaw dropping heights. Yves Campion on bass, keeps the rhythmic power machine on overdrive, adding more fuel to the already sweltering, Power Metal fire that is Nightmare… Insurrection.

Krokus sent out the following update this evening:
The wait is almost over. Only 41 more days (and nights) and the new cd “Hoodoo” will be released. And trust me, the long wait was worth it. “Hoodoo” offers Krokus fans 11 tracks and the digipak version includes additionally a DVD memorizing the “magic moments” of and around the 2008 reunion concert at Stade De Suisse in Bern, Switzerland.
Logging on to our HOME web page, you will hear a glimpse of the track “Hoodoo Woman”. To hear the entire new song, log on to our www.myspace.com/krokusonline web page (jukebox). When logging on, you’ll also enjoy an “oversized” version of the brilliant artwork details of the “Hoodoo” cover.
“Hoodoo Woman” will get under your skin. Guaranteed! The more often you listen to it, the more you will get captivated by the “Hoodoo Magic”. I listened to it so many times that I can’t get it out of my mind anymore. The chorus line “…mamma was a hoodoo woman, papa was a hoodoo man…” is haunting me (in a good way, of course) at various hours of the day and is engraved in my brain and soul. The same will happen to you, when the “Hoodoo Woman” will put her spell on you! If you want to sing along, go to our GLOBE CLUB page under LYRICS – 2010 HOODOO.
As we speak (or in this case “read”), the cd is being pressed and cover/booklet printed. Over a year in the making, the “Hoodoo Men” are resting exhausted in the “Hoodoo Lounge”. They gave it their all, especially “Hoodoo Chris”, who also produced the new release.
“Hoodoo” was recorded by Dennis Ward (producer of “Hellraiser”) at House of Music Studios in Winterbach, Germany with additional recordings at Pink Bild & Ton (engineered by ex-Krokus Jürg Naegeli) in Solothurn, Switzerland and Henson Studios, Los Angeles. For track listing, go to our DISCOGRAPHY page.
Photography, artwork & graphic design of the cover by Martin Häusler, who also took the awesome live pictures during the 2008 reunion concert in Bern. A few pictures of the “Hoodoo” series are on our GLOBE CLUB page (under MULTIMEDIA>KROKUS PICTURES>2010 HOODOO) and you can re-visit his live shots on our GALLERY page (Stade De Suisse).
Do not resist the “hoodoo spell”, let it get under your skin and enjoy the magic ride!
Ex-Adler’s Appetite vocalist Sheldon Tarsha’s band TARSHA has just confirmed they will be performing live in support of ANVIL at House of Blues in Anaheim, California on Feb. 4th. “I met up with with ANVIL when I sang for ICON at Rocklahoma last year,” stated Tarsha. “We ended up riding back to the hotel from the venue in the same limo. Hearing Lips and Rob tell their story in person, was almost better than the movie! I’m looking forward to opening for them. It’s gonna be a great show!” Tarsha also has another show scheduled at House of Blues Sunset Strip, in Hollywood, California opening for Steel Panther on Feb. 22nd.
After completing a US tour singing for Adler’s Appetite last year, Tarsha independently released “The Singles EP” complete with a music video for the song “Second Life”. In 2007, Tarsha independently released his first full length album “Prophecies” which became a worldwide Internet Radio hit; Reaching No. 2 and remaining on the Internet Live 365 Rock Top 30 Chart for 77 weeks.
