Video Showdown # 17 – Ph.D vs. Tesla
One of earliest videos on MTV back in the 80’s was Ph.D’s “Little Susie’s on the Up”. I have no recollection of this video whatsoever, and had no idea that Tesla’s “Little Suzi” was a cover song until just a few weeks ago.

I didn’t know that was a cover song either.
I like Tesla. I saw them open for Def Leppard on the “Hysteria” tour in the ’80s.
I voted for the “Ph.D” song even though I never heard of that band…and I think that the Tesla version of the song is better.
But since the poll asks which video is better…Tesla‘s is just the band playing…but the original version’s video is a story, so I thought that video was better.
I knew it was a cover, but I had never actually heard the original prior to this.
Wow. I didn’t know the Tesla song was a cover either. Surprisingly, they aren’t all that different from each other.
