THE ART OF MALICE To Release May 11th on 60 Cycle Hum/Rocket Science Ventures
Featuring ACE FREHLEY’s Classic Track FRACTURED MIRROR – ALA J5
“John 5 is hands down one of the most mind blowing guitarists around.”- Slash
“John 5 is an underrated guitar GIANT.” – Steve Vai
THE ART OF MALICE is John 5’s 5th album to date and will be released May 11th on 60 Cycle Hum/Rocket Science Ventures.
THE ART OF MALICE exhibits John 5’s incredible diversity as a writer and guitarist pulling from the pages of his life. “It is a completely different vibe than my other albums,” explains John 5. “The title is derived from the saying “kill then with kindness” like taking a good approach to still obtain a dark result.”
The album also further showcases him to be one of the most technically advanced guitarists in the business today. Fans of driving rhythms and ear-catching, over the top, guitar work will keep this in their CD player for months on end. This album has everything that the fans come to expect, chicken pickin, shred, metal and Spanish guitar. The song titles vary as vignettes into John 5’s life, such as the title JW which are John 5’s initials and what his father had called him growing up. Ya Dig comes from working with the master or front-men David Lee Roth and also features Billy Sheehan on bass – “That is Dave’s saying and it fits the music.”
John 5 has created a worldwide following as a widely respected guitarist with such platinum artists as Marilyn Manson, David Lee Roth, and Rob Halford and currently Rob Zombie. John 5 has taken his notoriety to the next level with his solo masterpieces that many guitar fans described as “the guitar playing of the new millennium”. John 5’s eclectic influences combine for a truly unique guitar oriented record that once again sets new standards in the genre.

2010 marks the end of a long and awesome career for the Scorpions. The band is preparing a multi-year farewell tour, and has returned with the seventeenth and final studio album of their long and storied career. The Scorpions has been saying for months that Sting in The Tail is a return to their classic sound, and I would have to agree. 2010 has been another great year for hard rock, and even with some stout competition Sting in The Tail is going to find its way on a lot of top ten lists at the end of the year.
Klaus Meine sings his ass of on this CD, and still sounds amazing. Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs cut loose often, and dish out some tasty guitar riffs that classic Scorpions fans are sure to love.
If you have listened to Hard Rock Hideout radio over the last few weeks, you have heard the first single “Raised on Rock”. This song is so good, it has made me anticipate the release of Sting In The Tail even more.
In my opinion, the title track “Sting In The Tail” is one of the weaker cuts on this album. The music is good, and this song does a good job at keeping the pace going, but there is something odd about it that I can’t put my finger on.
“Slave Me” on the other hand, is damn near perfect. I love this tune.
“The Good Die Young” features a duet with former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen. If this song doesn’t get tons of radio play for the Scorpions, there is something seriously with a whole lot of DJ’s out there. This song is awesome!
James Kottak dishes out some killer drum work on the rocker “No Limit”. Klaus Meine pulls off some screams that I didn’t think he had left in him. This song gets better every time I listen to it.
If “Rockzone” doesn’t have you throwing your metal horns in the air, nothing will. This is one of the heavier songs that the Scorpions have done in quite some time. “Rockzone” flat out rocks! I love this!!!
If I would have changed anything on this CD, I would have added one more rocker to the mix. Three ballads are a bit much, even if they are quite good.
Did the Scorpions save their best release for their last one? Absolutely not. Sting in the Tail is however a damn fine release, and one of the stronger efforts by the Scorpions. If Sting in The Tail is truly the Swan Song for the Scorpions, then the band can retire knowing they gave their best effort for their final disc. That is all this fan can ask! While I am sad to see the Scorpions retire, I am going to enjoy Sting In The Tail for many years to come.
You can grab a copy of Sting In The Tail for only $7.99 this week at this link!! Don’t miss this!
The Scorpions are:
Klaus Meine – Lead vocals
Matthias Jabs – Lead guitar, Backing vocals
Rudolf Schenker – Rhythm guitar, Backing vocals

Los Angeles metallers FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH travelled to Iraq at the end of February to perform a handful of shows for U.S. troops. This tour was the band’s first visit to Iraq.
“There’s not enough people in America that are exposed to what really goes on over here, how hard the troops are working for us and our side,” FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer Ivan Moody said during an interview that was conducted in Iraq. “We just wanted to come over here and give them a piece of life.
We know that it becomes monotonous out here it’s a seven-day-a-week job and we really wanted to break it up and make them feel human, and I hope that we gave them that.
We’ve spent a lot of hard time on the road, as well as you guys have earning the freedom that we have. It’s the least we can do.”
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH released a new single, “No One Gets Left Behind”, in the U.K. on March 8 via Spinefarm Records.
Taken from the band’s latest/second album, “War Is The Answer”, and with studio track “Undone” included as a bonus, the single is available on seven-inch colored vinyl (a limited, hand-numbered pressing) and as a download with a digital booklet.
The artwork for both formats features photos sent to the group by fans currently serving in the U.S. military specifically from Heavy Marine Helicopter Squadron 462.
Since the release of the debut FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH album, “The Way Of The Fist”, back in 2007, the band has gained increasing support from U.S. troops on active service, as a result of which their “Death Squad” motif now regularly features on combat vehicles and choppers along with the “No One Gets Left Behind” call to arms.

MUTINY WITHIN – New Jersey has bred once again, a heavy band that might one day become a household name… and why shouldn’t Mutiny Within attain such status? Anything is possible in the world of Hard & Heavy Music, it’s quality and perseverance that wins out in the end. Thus far, Mutiny Within has proved to my ears, the quality in their slim lined Progressiveness, that they have fused within their Melodic Metalcore. On their debut and self titled album, (released February 23, 2010 on Roadrunner Records), Mutiny Within does take a couple of chances as a band, these chances are: 1: lead vocalist Chris Clancy pronounces the lyrics with surprisingly cool eloquence and 2: there exists the atmospheric and space filled keyboards manned by Drew Stavola.
These two musical characteristics of Mutiny Within are not a rarity in Heavy Metal, rather they are a tad uncommon in Metalcore as a whole. I find both of these attributes to be of significant strengths for Mutiny Within, almost like a breath of fresh Melodic Metalcore air. As technically astute as they are melodic, this band of 6 musicians, almost sound as if they have a couple of polished studio albums under their belts already. I’m not trying to ring the Metal bell here, stating we are welcoming in the next Queensryche or Dream Theater… what Mutiny Within represents to me, is an eclectic mix of Metal styles that are woven together with relevancy, talent and wit.
Awake embarks lyrically on an emotional journey of sorrow, colliding with new found hope. Awake is a definitive and standout “hit” from Mutiny Within. Images encapsulates the harmonious vocals complimented by vocal growling, amidst the progressive keyboards and searing dual guitars. Year Of Affliction begins with a tremendous up tempo, subsiding to subtle keys and then erupting into a volcanic overflow of heaviness, while never losing sight of melodic layering. Lethean without doubt in my ears and mind, scorches like there is no tomorrow, thanks in part to the guitar duo of Daniel Bage and Brandon Jacobs. The exchanging leads and solos are above impressive on Lethean, proving to me that these young guitarists want to make a career out of this.
Only one song hits the 4 minute mark on Mutiny Within which is Suffocate, proving that flirting with progressiveness doesn’t equate to elongated material. Suffocate delves lyrically into a self-psychoanalytical battlefield, a song that can be open to interpretation and to be digested numerous times… this song is that heavily good. Reflections is the album closer, fortified with all the musical elements that Mutiny Within has so fantastically elevated, throughout the other ten songs.
Bill Fore on drums is ever relentless throughout each song, with Andrew Jacobs keeping the pounding rhythmic pace flowing, at every twist and turn. Daniel Bage and Brandon Jacobs can and easily do steal the show during these songs on Mutiny Within, proving convincingly that heavy and melodic really coexist. Has Mutiny Within truly broken any new ground in the world of Metal Music here? Not necessarily, yet how many bands really do nowadays? What Mutiny Within has done here, is weaved through the textured world of progressive music while not letting go of any heavy and fast styles. Add a melodic mindset as the bookends to their songs and it only makes Mutiny Within that much more appealing, so much in fact, I look forward to their 25th anniversary reissue of their debut album… down the Metal road.
You can get this CD for only $5.00. Please visit Mutiny Within’s myspace page to find out how.

The Legend is back. Hot News about their exclusive first warm-up gigs and their brand new album.
Late summer 2009, a message from Nashville spread all over the internet and triggered of heated discussion. ACCEPT is back! The exceptional hard rock band from Germany announced that they are currently working on their first studio album since 15 years. There is no denying that this band is the hottest topic in the heavy metal scene now. The media as well as the fans are awaiting the new album with utmost anticipation. Before the album hits record stores all over the world, the band will surprise their die hard fans with a very special Warm-Up Tour. The Fans waited long but now ACCEPT is back in the spotlight. Since their concert at the Gramercy Theatre in ….New York City…. is nearly sold out, the band decided to add a few more shows to their already tight schedule. Fans can look forward to very intimate and unique performances in carefully handpicked venues in various European cities.
After a decade-long absence, ACCEPT wants to make this a special “thank you” to its European fans, who will be able to attend specially arranged meet-and-greet sessions at each of these shows. In addition, the band will be available for autograph sessions, photo opportunities and interviews during this short trek…..

Rumours about above-mentioned shows spread fast all over the internet. The fans simply couldn’t wait to see their idols back on stage again, especially now with their new vocalist Mark Tornillo (ex- TT Quick).
Due to the band’s very tight schedule, there will only be one gig per country – except for ….Russia….. However, preparations for a big world tour, that will follow the album release, have already started.
“We can’t wait to go out and play again,” said bassist Peter Baltes. “Just because [former ACCEPT singer] Udo Dirkschneider isn’t available to take part in the reunion doesn’t mean we’ll have to sit idle any longer. We feel Mark is the perfect fit. Mark is an experienced veteran singer who is aware of the ACCEPT legacy and his voice fits the sound of ACCEPT perfectly.”
For guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, the decision to hire Mark was an easy one: “The decision to add him to our band was made immediately. It all happened in minutes. Peter [Baltes] and I were working on some songs in a studio in ….New Jersey….. Suddenly somebody suggested to give this guy a call and to invite him to join us – just for fun. The minute Mark began performing our songs we knew that we had found our new vocalist. This will be a new chapter in the career of ACCEPT. Now or never… We are re-energized and excited.”
Mark Tornillo was the vocalist of TT Quick, a popular club band during the 1980s in the ..New York.. and ….New Jersey…. area.
In this new constellation, ACCEPT recently finished the recording of their brand new album “Blood Of Nations” in the Backstage Studio in Derbyshire, UK. Acclaimed British producer and SABBAT guitarist Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE) was also involved in the recordings. The CD will include around 14 tracks and be released before the summer via an as-yet-undetermined record label. Song titles set to appear on the CD include “The Abyss”, “Shades Of Death”, “Blood Of Nations”, “Pandemic” and “Teutonic Terror”.
In December the website Blabbermouth.com published exclusive behind–the–scenes footage of the recording sessions of Blood Of Nations. The clip runs about 6 minutes and a half and also includes snippets from interviews with Sneap and various ACCEPT band members. To watch the video use below-mentioned link.

Someone forgot to tell the Canadian metal band Cauldron that the New Wave of British Heavy Metal took place 30 years ago. Nonetheless, this three-piece band from Toronto has a sound more a kin to the early eighties than the bands of today, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
It amazes me what a three-man band can do these days. I am seeing a trend with more and more bands are starting out as a trio. Cauldron’s sound is pretty fat for a three-piece outfit. Chained to the Nite is filled with chugging guitar riffs, solid bass work and some drumming that would make most metal bands proud. With that being said, Cauldron is not without issues. Jason Decay’s voice is on the weak side. His voice is not powerful enough to drive the songs home. When the music is this good, it would be helpful if Cauldron had a voice that gave the music a longer lasting impression. A few metal screams, or more emphasis on the lyrics would have made the songs on Chained in the Nite a lot more interesting.
There are a few noteworthy moments on this CD including “Chained Up In Chains”, “Dreams Die Young”.
The album closes with a pretty cool cover of Black N’ Blue’s “Chains Around Heaven”, which was a nice surprise. My copy of this CD came with a bonus disc with two extra songs, “The Striker Strikes” and “Restless”. I think the song “The Striker Strikes” should have been used as one of the main tracks on the CD. It is better than most of the songs on Chained to the Nite. It has an early Iron Maiden like feel to it. “Restless” is kind of catchy and is a decent tune as well.
Chained To the Nite shows a band that has not yet achieved metal perfection. This Cauldron is bubbling over with the murky soup of potential.

Are you looking for some new rock that stands out from the mediocre metal and has a sound that slaps you awake? Well, look no further, Taking Dawn is the band you seek. Equipped with a talented lead singer in Chris Babbit, who also serves double duty as guitarist, and armed with talented musicians who know how to play their instruments well, Taking Dawn is poised to be the next great hard rock band.
Their debut album, Time To Burn, is a testament to that style of hard and heavy rock. Filled with crushing guitar solos, rhythmic drums, and a lead singer whose voice is powerful and smooth, Time To Burn is one hell of a debut album.
Time To Burn opens with the title track, a fast, hard-hitting rock tune that has a modern Winger vibe and finds lead vocalist Chris Babbit sounding a lot like Kip Winger. That’s not to say Taking Dawn is a Winger-esque band, but the opening track definitely has a Winger sound and feel to it. A solid opener on its own accord, Time To Burn sets the pace for the rest of the album and announces that Taking Dawn hit hard.
“Like A Revolution” keeps the rock going. Babbit and guitarist Mikey Cross show off their skills on this song, which contains some amazing guitar work. The solos are sharp and enjoyable and the heaviness of the song reminds us of why we are fans of hard rock and roll in the first place. “Like A Revolution” is a song that packs a powerful punch.
“So Loud” is a blistering party rocker if ever there was one. While simple in lyrics and melody, the catchy hook and chorus force you to tap your feet and sing along. It’s only a matter of moments before you know the words and are shouting them out loud with a smile on your face and an extra bounce in your step. So Loud reminds us of what fun rock sounds like.
The big ballad of the album (yeah, you knew they had to have one) is “Close Your Eyes”. As far as ballads go, this one is ok. Ballads are not the strength of Taking Dawn, and while every band likes to include one in the hopes it will push them over the top,”Close Your Eyes” is mediocre at best. The band should stick to their strengths, which is fist in your face, hard rock and roll.
The album closes with a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain”, and while it’s a huge risk to cover a song so beloved, I give Taking Dawn a lot of credit. Their version of this classic rocker is solid. Opening with a nifty little guitar riff, the song segues right into the classic guitar notes of the original. And while Chris Babbit may not be Lindsey Buckingham and Mikey Cross is certainly not Stevie Nicks, the dark raspy vocals work exceptionally well for this cover tune.
Taking Dawn are a new band that you should definitely be listening to. Armed with heavy rock, talented guitars, and deep, dark vocals that have power and ability, this is a band worth telling your friends about. If you’re a fan of rock and roll and you’ve been waiting for something new and exciting to come around that you could get behind and support, then Taking Dawn is what you’ve been wanting. Time To Burn is available on Roadrunner Records and worth every penny you spend on it.

This brilliant performance was recorded on the last night of their tour at the House of Blues August 8, 2009 in EXTREME’s hometown of Boston, MA . “We wanted to do something really special for our hometown fans that were there for us since the beginning… the club days,” states Nuno. “It was the last night of the tour and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by bringing it back to where it all started… Boston.”
