Motley Crue singer Vince Neil’s upcoming solo album, Tattoos & Tequila, will be released on June 22nd via Eleven Seven Music.
The CD was recorded with bassist Dana Strum and Jeff Blando (both of Slaughter) and drummer Zoltan Chaney.
At least two cover tracks were reportedly laid down during the recording sessions – Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Who’ll Stop The Rain” and Sex Pistols’ “No Feelings”.
The “Tattoos & Tequila” title track which was written & produced by Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Def Leppard Ozzy Osbourne) and the accompanying video are available for free download at www.vinceneil.net. You can view the video below!
Paul Shortino’s Music Works label signed the band and released their debut effort Rise of the Tora. Not only did Paul Shortino produce this CD, but he also provides background vocals on the song “Warrior”. He must have seen a lot in this young band, and I completely see why.
This disc sounds like it was made in 1984, not 2009. Black Tora may have a retro sound, but make no mistake about it, they flat out rock. Rise of The Tora is cram packed with old school metal riffs that put a huge smile on this rocker’s face. Razer Dave is one of the most impressive new guitarists I have heard in a while. His style seems to encompass a mixture of influences including Eddie Van Halen and KK Downing. Don’t believe me? Listen to Rise of the Tora! This guy can shred!
A singer can make or break a band, and Black Tora’s singer Chris Daniel gets the job done! He delivers solid vocals and plenty of metal screams to keep this listener interested. Edd “The Animal” provides plenty of thunder to drive these songs home.
This CD starts off with the scorching hot tune “Burn Out”. This high-speed rocker quickly establishes that Black Tora isn’t here to fool around. They are out to rock your race off, and with Rise of the Tora, they do just that. You wont find any wimpy power ballads on this CD. This disc is packed from beginning to end with heavy tunes that will make you throw your horns in the air!
“Heart of Fire” is a monstrous tune that needs to be heard by every metalhead on the planet. Some of the additional highlights on this CD include the songs, “Never Enough” “Wild Child”, and “Warrior”. If you are a fan of classic hard rock and metal, check out Black Tora on myspace and grab Rise of the Tora on iTunes or Amazon.com. You will be glad you did!

In a statement to management and the band – lead singer Lizzy DeVine has officially left the group.
“The last 5 years with this band has been the best years of my life. It’s with a tear in my eye, but a whole lot of love and respect for the band, manager, endorsers and fans all over the world, I announce that I’m no longer the lead singer/front man of VAINS OF JENNA. It’s been a crazy ride. And I’ve loved every second of it. But now I must move on and let the band grow. I’ve done more with this band than I could ever have dreamed of but now it’s time for new adventures! I love all of you.” Lizzy DeVine
VAINS of JENNA comprised of lead guitarist and main song writer Nicki Kin (Age 23), bassist JP White (26) and drummer Jacki Stone (23) embrace this change with the following statement. “We have always been a family and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. Today we support and respect Lizzy’s choice. We wish him all the best in the future and we part ways as friends. To our fans and friends everywhere, we are as shocked at this development as the rest of you. But we are real, committed to our music and will go forward. We have been honored by all of your support over the years and cannot express enough our regrets to bring this news. But this is reality and we accept the challenge.”
VAINS of JENNA formed in 2005 in Falkenberg Sweden. They have been featured internationally on TV and radio, appeared in hundreds of print articles and performed over 400 shows in a dozen countries. The band was originally signed by MTV star BAM MARGERA (Jackass/Viva La Bam) to Filthy Note/Universal in 2006. Soon followed major North America tours with Poison, Ratt & GWAR in 2007. They returned to Europe in 2008 and toured ITALY, ENGLAND & SWEDEN which included the Mega Festival SWEDEN ROCK. In the summer of 2009 the band was back in Los Angeles to release “The Art of Telling Lies” (RLS/RAW NOIZE) which received 5 star reviews around the globe. Since inception VAINS of JENNA have continuously drawn comparisons to legendary groups like Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses and Hanoi Rocks.
“We are seeking a young, hungry, aggressive, dedicated, fresh face and voice to front our band. Someone who is one of us. If you think you’re the guy for the job – then step to the plate now.” Nicki, JP & Jacki

LOUDER, HARDER, and HEAVIER than their debut, 16 SECOND STARE breaks new sonic ground with their new self-titled album releasing April 27 on Goomba Music.
With the aggressive sound of their new self-titled record, 16 SECOND STARE is ready to take their place in the vanguard of the international metal scene. Fueled by the ferocious vocals of Chris Davis, who stepped out from behind his drum kit to prowl the stage like a madman, and driven by the onslaught of guitarist Angry Tim Shanks, the band has been winning legions of fans with its uncompromising stage show. During the summer of 2009, on the road with Crüefest 2, 16 SECOND STARE showed what they were made of winning over huge crowds with their radical onslaught. Now they’re unleashing an equally radical album.
16 SECOND STARE took a year to make and, during that time, the band underwent a transformation. “I started singing lead and everything clicked into place,’ says singer and drummer Chris Davis. “We used to think about radio play, but this time decided to go for the jugular. We’re going to get right up in your face and if people like it, that’s fine. If not, fuck’em. Anyone who’s seen us live knows we kick ass, so we decided to kick ass in the studio too. Making Chris the singer was the best move we ever made.”
Standout tracks on 16 SECOND STARE include the current single, Bonnie and Clyde, a heavy stomping rocker, with the grinding guitars of Shanks complimenting the processed vocals Davis lays down over his own brutal backbeat. The shrieking harmonies of Davis and Shanks add another sinister element to the mix. Bonnie and Clyde is already being played on Sirius Satellite’s Octane channel, AOL’s Extreme Alt Rock station, and is climbing the Media Base Active Rock chart.
Come out and hear the Hot Ticket of the year, 16 SECOND STARE on tour now with COLD and NONPOINT. The trek will begin on February 17, 2010 at Juanitas in Little Rock Arkansas.

Pearl Aday has just announced her first headline tour, kicking off Saturday April 17th in Las Vegas. For fans that have never seen Pearl live, get ready for some straight up, kick ass, pure and true rock n’ roll. Pearl says, “ I just let the music take me wherever feels right. I’ve fallen down, peed my pants…I don’t care. As long as I can connect with the audience, I’ve done what I came to do. I’ll break myself open to get there. I have a lot to tell, and a hell of a lot to give.”
Her debut album, Little Immaculate White Fox is an epic blend of hard rock, blues and soul, connected by Pearl’s distinct and empowering vocals. Produced by Joe Barresi (QOTSA, Tool, Jane’s Addiction) the album features Anthrax guitarist (and fiancée of Pearl) Scott Ian, Jerry Cantrell, Ted Nugent and Mother Superior – the touring band for Daniel Lanois and Henry Rollins.
As the daughter of rock legend Meat Loaf, Pearl lived and breathed rock n’ roll since the day she was born. Music was everywhere – whether it was in a recording studio (where she could be found napping in a guitar case) or a place where her dad was performing in front of thousands of people, Pearl lived it. Her foray into the music biz began singing back up on tour for Meat Loaf and Motley Crue. You can also hear her unmistakable pipes on Ace Frehley’s ‘Genghis Khan.’
The songs on Pearl’s debut album are as original as they are familiar. Drawing inspiration from classic, hard and southern rock, along with soulful elements of R&B, Little Immaculate White Fox is a spirited collection of passion, pain and love -100% pure and infectious.
If you saw Pearl’s recent performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, you may have got a glimpse of what she can do. Better yet, go see her live. As Pearl promises, “Every live show is an adventure.”

Dokken, Lynch Mob and current ‘Souls of WE’ guitarist, George Lynch has joined ’80’s Metal Pioneer Willie Basse in his Burbank, CA studio to record a new single, “Break Away” for Basse’s upcoming new studio album. The track and album is being recorded by Basse and Led Zeppelin engineer, Andy Johns and is expected to surface in late 2010 through Basse’s own New Empire Media, Inc.
“Working with George Lynch again is amazing and we’re enjoying lots of creative fun! We can actually do anything and go anywhere without limits,” commented Willie Basse. “His contribution to my project, along with unmatched professional musicianship enlightens me, and inspires me to new heights.”
“Ok. First you have Andy Johns… Hello Andy Johns?! He’s done a few records… Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones…” added George Lynch. “Then you’ve got Willie, who I played with back in the 80s, so we’ve got some history. Willie is so passionate about the music that he lives and breathes. Working on these tracks is liking going back in time, in a good way! It’s very reminiscent of Priest and other hard rock bands of that era. And everything starts out analog. You just can’t beat tape. I felt like I was back in 1987 recording a classic Dokken record!”
Basse is currently recording the follow-up to his critically acclaimed album ‘The Money Grind’. Basse, best known for his role as bassist/frontman for the LA based legendary metalheads Black Sheep, who were mainstays on the Los Angeles Sunset Strip during the ‘80s metal explosion. The band, best known for their technical prowess and precision, has boasted members that include Slash, Paul Gilbert, James Kottak, and Randy Castillo.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH – has no sophomore blues to remedy with their second studio album War Is The Answer, (released on September 22, 2009). If a one line review was to suffice regarding War Is The Answer, I would take a corn dog route and just say: Skull crushing Hard Rock that melds with the finer points of Heavy Metal. Alright, with that said, Ivan Moody has secured his place among Hard Rock and Heavy Metal’s most convincing and steel solid vocalists. Ivan’s vocals on War Is The Answer can be construed as the show stealer, however, there is one terrific band behind him as well… and these guys have also secured themselves some heavy respect, with laying down the hard and heavy.
Cutting to the Metal chase on the ferocious songs heard on War Is The Answer, a standout for me is “Burn It Down”. It opens up into an angst fueled and welcomed invasion of Metal music and lyrics. An electrifying song is “Burn It Down”, highlighted by exquisitely heavy guitar licks from the guitar tandem of Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook. Five Finger Death Punch never comes across as playing heavy out of necessity, these guys play heavy because they damn well can… and play it hard and heavy – extremely well. “Canto 34” is all rip and tear, with elevated riffs and melodic leads that creates the genuine factor that this band glistens with. If a heavy instrumental could talk, then “Canto 34” is a testimonial to someone or something very important to Five Finger Death Punch.
“Falling In Hate” rages along with Metal glee, a sound reminder that no one should ever consider messing with this band in a remote alley. “Falling In Hate” flat out smokes, the hardcore vocals of Ivan Moody ignites the powerful mood here. The cover version of “Bad Company” receives a unique FFDP spin, it’s harder, faster and downright leaner and meaner than it’s iconic original. I’ll always revere the original Bad Company song, still, FFDP pronounces this classic in a way that cannot ever be ignored or denied. Far From Home is an up tempo and heavy ballad, it seems to fit into this album rather seamlessly… a short detour from the storm filled sound that FFDP is so well known to carry out.
“War Is The Answer”, the albums title song, borders on that fine line of Thrash meets Hardcore, both musically and lyrically. The profound ability for FFDP to shift gears, into various levels of heaviness, is what I most admire about them.”War Is The Answer” is THE song to listen to when you feel like someone has slighted your life in any way… it’s Metal psychotherapy for the ears! “No One Gets Left Behind” maintains the precision accuracy of speedy riffs and leads alongside a hell bent for Metal rhythm section that this entire album is seething with. The military oath of “no one gets left behind” has never been more heavier stated and explained than on this FFDP song… it’s an eye popping listen!
Closing out my Metal praise for War Is The Answer is “Dying Breed”. If FFDP was looking for that Metal body slam to close the door on this fantastic album… they succeeded. Ivan Moody’s diverse use of his vocal range coupled with layered vocal harmonies, lent an element of surprise upon my very first listen to what is a very heavy song. FFDP once again, uniformly as a band unites their talents, in creating an album that screams textured hardness, molten together with all the heavy goodness of what we Hard Rock and Heavy Metal fans love to savor.

On 4/13, Divebomb Records will be reissuing ’80s German metallers CASANOVA’s highly sought-after self-titled 1991 debut album. The band’s roots began in such classic and esteemed German hard rock/heavy metal bands such as Mad Max and Warlock. Formed in 1990 when Warlock super-producer, Henry Staroste, brought Michael Voss and Michael Eurich together to craft the debut album. The record caused waves throughout the hard rock and metal scenes all over Europe and Asia, but Casanova never got their shot in the States.
Casanova has been out of print for years and was never actually released in the United States until now. With supplies diminishing over the years, the price of obtaining an original copy of the album has skyrocketed to prices exceeding the $100 mark. So with it being the band’s 20th anniversary, Divebomb Records will be presenting a new deluxe edition of the album which includes not only remastered audio, but 7 bonus tracks. The pressing will be limited to 1,000 copies and the audio was mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me). Fans of Dokken, Whitesnake, Icon, and, Warlock will not be disappointed.

Bob from Mojo Radio played Rainbow’s “Stone Cold” for me the other night, and it made me wonder how many people have never heard this song. This is Rainbow with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals. This song is on the ’82 Rainbow classic, Straight Between the Eyes.
Check out the clip below!
The band has reunited with their classic lineup of Chris von Rohr, Fernando von Arb, Freddy Steady, Mark Kohler and Marc Storace. The end result is a CD that shows the band firing on all cylinders.
Marc Storace doesn’t attempt to those high-pitched screams like he did in the eighties, but the music is so good, I doubt you will miss them. Fernando Von Arb and company seem to be playing with a renewed vigor, and Hoodoo shines as a result of it.
The opening song “Drive It In” feels a whole lot like an AC/DC tune. Nonetheless this song flat-out rocks and gets Hoodoo started on the right pace.
The first single from the album, “Hoodoo Woman” is a good tune with a ZZ Top like vibe to it. ( Check it out in the video below.) I like the song, but it is far from the best song on Hoodoo.
I am not sure why the band chose to cover the Steppenwolf classic, Born to Be Wild. Countless bands (i.e. The Cult, Hinder, Raven) have covered this one already. A minor guitar tweak on this song by Fernando Von Arb gives this song a fresh feel, and I like this cover version the best out of all of them.
I must admit that I thought the lyrics of “Rock’n Roll Handshake” were kind of silly at first, but the more I hear this song, the more I want to sing along with it. It is a very catchy tune.
When I first listened to the intro on “Too Hot”, the Foreigner song “Hot Blooded” immediately came to mind. It starts off in a similar fashion. Overall, I felt that song was fairly ordinary, but the guitar fills from Fernando Von Arb take it up a notch.
“In My Blood” is a hard rockin’, foot-tapper that helps kick Hoodoo back in gear. I absolutely love the bluesy rocker “Dirty Street”. “Keep Me Rollin” is one of the faster tunes on Hoodoo, and is another great one!
In my opinion, Krokus saved the best for last with their scorcher “Firestar”.
Every time I finish listening to Hoodoo, I want to hit repeat and play it again. Krokus has turned out their best album since the classic ’84 album, The Blitz. You gotta get this!

“Generation Wild” out on APRIL 23rd in Europe (excluding Scandinavia)
CRASHDÏET was born in a new millennium where the rock n roll scene had almost died out. No looks, no tricks, no flash and balls and definitely a lack of big songs. Inspired by bands like SKID ROW, GUNS ´N ROSES, KISS and W.A.S.P, CRASHDÏET brought back the big shows, the rough-edge sleaze anthems and the rawness of an unpredictable and dangerous band.
Discovered by Universal Music in 2004 after making a lot of noise down in the gutter of the Swedish underground, CRASHDÏET became the first Sleaze Rock act to be signed directly to a major record company in over 10 years.
The debut album “Rest in Sleaze” entered the Swedish national album chart at position No. 12. The singles and videos like “Riot In Everyone”, “It’s A Miracle”, and gold selling “Breakin The Chainz” were played frequently on radio and television. CRASHDÏET embarked on a Swedish tour in the fall of 2005 to support the new album and they were on the verge of the big breakthrough when tragedy struck: on January 20th of 2006 singer Dave Lepard was found dead in his apartment after committing suicide. The surviving members were devastated and decided to break up the band shortly after. But on demand of the fans the three ex members decided to start up the band and put out ads for a singer.
In December 2006 the band confirmed the rumours about the newly found singer Olliver. The band started to work on their second album “The Unattractive Revolution” that was released in October 2007. Tours followed throughout Europe the rest of the year and up until the summer of 2008. After that the band parted ways with Olliver. In June of 2009 CRASHDÏET revealed Stockholm-based Simon Cruz as the new frontman of the band. This is said to me the most solid line up ever!
The third album “Generation Wild” has been produced by the hit maker producing team RamPac and mixed by Tobias Lindell (Mustasch, Sister Sin) and marks the start of the cooperation with Frontiers Records, who will handle the release in Europe, excluding Scandinavia.
“We are very happy about the new deal with Frontiers. They are definitely the best label for the glam/sleaze genre in the world”, says bassist Peter London.
“Generation Wild” includes the following tracks:
Martin Sweet – Guitar
Simon Cruz – Vocal
Peter London – Bass
Eric Young – Drums
Euro Tour dates:
15/04 Jailbreak, Rome [ITA]

A few weeks ago on the Hard Rock Hideout Radio show, Brian Basher played a tune from the band McQueen Street. I immediately went scurrying through my collection of music to revisit this CD. I haven’t listened to McQueen Street in years, and never got around to loading it onto my drive.
The songs on this band’s 1991 debut area good mix of sleazy rockers, pop metal and even the dreaded ballads.
“In Heaven” is a tune that should have been a modest hit for McQueen Street. This song is worthy of a few replays.
“My Religion”, “Stick It” and “Money” are all solid tunes. I have played “Time” a few times, and I have grown to like this one quite a bit. There are parts of this song that have a real Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora type of style to it.
It almost sounds as if the band was trying to tap into the Aerosmith/Guns N’ Roses vibe with “Going Back To Mexico”. It doesn’t come close to achieving that level of greatness, and falls flat. The opening of this song reminds me of the Lionel Richie song “Dancing on the Ceiling” (insert shudder here).
“Woman In Love” features the six string wizardry of Steve Stevens, and this song rips as a result of his amazing fret work.
Derek Welsh’s vocals are quite noisy on the closing song “When I’m In The Mood”. This is fairly average stuff.
Overall, there a few good songs on this CD, and I am sure the hair metal fans will enjoy it. I wouldn’t consider this CD essential listening, but is worth picking up if the price is right.
It has been out of print for years, so eBay and Amazon.com are the best places to f ind it.
