Hard rockers Buckcherry’s brand new album ALL NIGHT LONG is now set for an August 3rd release in North America via original independent label, Eleven Seven Music. The band is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on the record with producers Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Fuel) and guitarist/songwriter Keith Nelson. The first single from the new album, also entitled “All Night Long,” will make its video premiere on Yahoo! on May 17th, the same day the top down summer anthem will be delivered to radio at the active rock, mainstream rock and alternative formats…..
As a thank you to their fans, Buckcherry recently offered the new single “All Night Long” as a free download on their website www.buckcherry.com and via Twitter and Facebook. The response was so overwhelming that Twitter had to temporarily shut down the free download because the requests overloaded the system. Tens of thousands of hits were felt on the new single in the first two days it was made available. Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd commented, “Our fans are rad and we send them props for helping to overload Twitter! We are really proud of the new songs and can’t wait for everyone to hear the album.” Radio has also embraced “All Night Long” from the free download, with early airplay in major markets such as Chicago, Detroit, Seattle and Phoenix.
In other Buckcherry news, frontman Josh Todd guest-starred on the FOX’s hit show “Bones” last month. Buckcherry will soon hit the road in North America to play select dates. Please see below for the itinerary.
In their more than decade-long career, multi-platinum artists Buckcherry have established themselves as a definitive hard rock band with a massive presence at radio. Hits such as “Lit Up,” “Crazy Bitch,” and “Sorry” have propelled the band’s sales to more than 3 million albums worldwide and have garnered Buckcherry two Grammy Nominations. Their most recent album, 2008’s BLACK BUTTERFLY, earned the band their first-ever Top Ten Billboard album debut, with the album coming in at #8. BLACK BUTTERFLY was deemed the “Album Of The Year” by Entertainment Weekly and “Best Rock Album” by iTunes.

DANZIG HITS THE ROAD
Special Nine City Tour to Usher in the Release of Deth Red Sabaoth
Glenn Danzig, at the forefront of the hardcore/dark metal movement for nearly three decades, announces a special nine-city concert trek that will kick off in Norfolk, VA on June 15. The dates, played to usher in the release of Deth Red Sabaoth (evilive/The End Records), Danzig‘s first new studio album in six years, will feature long-time Danzig cohort, guitarist Tommy Victor (Prong, Ministry), drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative) and former Samhaim bandmate, bassist Steve Zing. Support for the east coast dates will be Gorgeous Frankenstein, the band of original Misfits member Doyle, and Seventh Void, the band that includes of Danzig/Type O Negative drummer Johnny Kelly and Type O guitarist Kenny Hickey.
A special internet pre-sale has now launched at http://www.ticketmaster.com and is ongoing through Thursday, May 13. During this internet pre-sale, fans who purchase a ticket can also purchase a special, limited edition Danzig 7″ vinyl single with two brand new songs – “On a Wicked Night,” the first single from the new album, and “The Revengeful.” See the itinerary below for on-sale info and where to purchase tickets.
Danzig plans to dig deep into his career-defining catalogue and perform tracks from Danzig, Lucifuge, How the Gods Kill, and on up to the present, including several new songs from Deth Red Sabaoth. “Danzig fans have their own favorites from throughout the years,” said Glenn, “and I hope the set list we put together will satisfy everyone.”
Deth Red Sabaoth, which marks Danzig‘s ninth studio venture that began back in 1988 with the Rick Rubin-produced, Platinum-certified Danzig, is an 11-track collection penned by Danzig, and is laced with Glenn’s lycanthropic growls and blues-infected wailing. Tracks including “Black Candy, “The Revengeful,” and “On A Wicked Night,” emit a spectral glow to rival the highest points in Danzig‘s colossal discography. Part I of the exquisite two-part “Pyre of Souls” opens with acoustic guitar, haunting piano, Glenn’s plainsong vocal, and an almost dirge-like feel; Part II explodes with electric guitars and a driving, mesmerizing cadence.
In addition to the upcoming Deth Red Sabaoth, Danzig has just published a book of select, previously unreleased Misfits, Danzig, and Samhaim lyrics, titled “Hidden Lyrics of the Left Hand” (Verotik). The book features illustrations by Simon Bisley, who has painted numerous album covers for Danzig and collaborated on many Verotik comic titles.
Glenn Danzig has received many titles, from the Godfather of Dark Metal to a punk pioneer to a man of integrity, but most agree that over his near-30-year career, his intense musical and lyrical statements have left a permanent mark on rock music. He is a gifted songwriter, and his songs have been covered by such diverse artists as Johnny Cash, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and Roy Orbison, just to name a few. His “13,” originally written for Johny Cash and then recorded for Glenn’s own Satan’s Child, was the opening song in last year’s box office smash and Golden Globe winner, The Hangover. Danzig‘s music is dark, gothic, and haunting, and continues to influence generation after generation of musicians and music fans across the globe.

LOUDNESS drummer Munetaka Higuchi passed away on November 30, 2008 following a seven-month battle with liver cancer. He was 49 years old. Higuchi was also the drummer of the rock band LAZY, going by the nickname of Davy. The group disbanded in 1981 and Higuchi co-founded LOUDNESS the same year. LAZY reunited in 1998. Higuchi was also active as a producer, handling artists such as Mari Hamada.
A good four years since their critically acclaimed studio recording Christ O hit the charts, Vanden Plas, one of Germany’s top prog metal acts, is set to release its latest album, The Seraphic Clockwork, on June 4, 2010. Impatiently awaited by the band’s fans, what The Seraphic Clockwork has turned into is a fascinating concept album which highlights the quintet’s exceptional technical skills and demonstrates their impressive development as composers. Once again, Vanden Plas have succeeded in giving new impetus to their unmistakable style without watering down their very own unique sound. The Seraphic Clockwork sounds more multi-layered, progressive and metal-oriented than previous Vanden Plas releases: “I think that my penchant for music of the tougher persuasion shines through more than ever before on this album”, comments guitarist Stephan Lill, who – together with keyboardist Günter Werno and vocalist Andy Kuntz – make up the group’s creative triumvirate. He adds: “Hard riffs, elaborate keyboard and orchestra arrangements plus catchy hook lines come together in a perfect symbiosis which marks Vanden Plas’ characteristic style. I feel that we were much more adventurous on with The Seraphic Clockwork than ever before.”
A perfect example which substantiates this is the 13-minute track ‘On My Way To Jerusalem’, a little masterpiece within a homogeneous, self-contained album. The song takes the listener on a haunting, adventurous journey which comes full circle musically towards its end. From tender piano sounds through hard riffs and versatile arrangements to atmospheric parts, the whole range of expressive forms which the progressive metal genre has to offer are present. On the other hand, ‘Heal The World’ with its melodic intro, subsequent heavy riff and catchy chorus, which reveals the band’s affinity to theatre music and all its complexity, is classic Vanden Plas.
Speaking of music theater: in case if you’ve been wondering how Vanden Plas spent the past four years since releasing Christ O, you may be in for a surprise. Along with the production of their own musicals, ‘Abydos’ and ‘Ludus Danielis’ (both at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern) and Christ O (which debuted in Munich in 2008 and will be produced at the Pfalztheater Kaiserlautern this year), the group was also involved in productions of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Hair’ (both at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern), and ‘Der Herbst des Winterkönigs’ (Amberg). Understandably, these activities left little time for extensive tours, which explains why the band concentrated on major festivals such as Sweden Rock (2006), PP Scandinavia (2008), Bloodstock (2008) and the Roccolo Park Festival in Italy (2008).
The band’s fascination with classical history has left its mark on The Seraphic Clockwork and particularly in the lyrics: the dramatic science fiction story of the concept album was penned by vocalist Andy Kuntz and chronicles a journey in place and time from 16th century Rome to Jerusalem in the year 33 anno Domini. After an apocalyptic vision, the protagonist has come under the spell of an Old Testament prophecy and must travel back through the centuries to face his God-given destiny. “It’s about being unable to accept fate”, explains Kuntz, a master at making complex subject matter both fascinating and accessible to contemporary audiences. “Working for the theater has definitely influenced the story’s depth. When you realize your own projects on a theater stage, you learn a lot of very important things about dramaturgy.”
The musical and dramatic complexity of The Seraphic Clockwork is certainly inspiring. Vanden Plas have proved again that it is the most imaginative and diverse of German prog metal bands and justly enjoys the highest international acclaim. It can only be a matter of time before this concept album also makes it onto the stage.

PUH-POW!! After seven long years, Jackyl is back with a brand new CD, “When Moonshine and Dynamite Collide”. This new disc sees Jesse James Dupree & company, sticking to their roots and delivering a CD full of kick ass hard rock tunes.
Like a Harley Davidson roaring down the highway, “Loads of Fun” blows past you like a carnivorous beast of chrome & steel, and quickly proves that Jackyl is here to rock! This is a song that you will want to crank up and annoy your neighbors!
I have a feeling that “I Can’t Stop” is going to be another of those fist pumping anthems that will be a staple in Jackyl’s live set.
“She’s Not A Drug” is the first single off of the CD, and I am not sure how to describe this song. There are times when I can not tell what Jesse James Dupree is singing. It doesn’t really matter though. This song itself is ridiculously catchy, and I like it. This song will likely be a new stripper anthem in seedy clubs across America.
A few months ago, Jackyl unleashed “My Moonshine Kicks Your Cocaines Ass” on myspace, and I am damn glad to find it on this CD. This song is a rocker, and while it may never achieve hit status, I will always look forward to hearing this tune, and seeing the band perform it.
The title track, “When Moonshine and Dynamite Collide” is a near perfect southern rocker. As one of the lyrics suggest, “Let’s Crank Some AC/DC and throw down ’til we’re blind”. Who can argue with that logic?
Jackyl is a band that typically visits Cincinnati every year, when most bands forgot that “The Queen City” still exists on the map. I have seen them countless times, and one song you can almost always count on Jackyl doing live, is the Janis Joplin classic “Mercedes Benz”. This song usually works in a live setting, but on this CD, it sounds like a hot mess. I love Jesse James Dupree, but his voice is not strong enough to sing a capella as he does on this cover. I am sure a few fans have been clamoring for this JJD version of the song, but it just doesn’t translate well. Luckily, this is the only real weak moment on this CD.
When Moonshine and Dynamite Collide flat out rocks, and is easily in the top three of all Jackyl releases. Jesse James Dupree and company are still cranking out some of the best biker rock on this side of the Mississippi. If you are a Jackyl fan, you won’t want to miss this.

First Single “End Of Me” Features Vocals By Bush’s Gavin Rossdale

When it comes to symphonic metal, no one has a pedigree like Finland cello-based quartet Apocalyptica. And this summer they’ll demonstrate their abundant skills and dramatic performance flair during a run of North American shows to support their upcoming seventh album 7th Symphony. The tour launches May 21 in Nashville, Tennessee at the WBUZ Hootenanny and runs through July 17 with a headline show at the Buffalo Town Ballroom.
7th Symphony was produced by Joe Barresi (Coheed and Cambria, Queens of the Stone Age, Bad Religion), and is scheduled for release August 24. The album will feature eight instrumentals plus four tracks with guest vocals including the first single “End Of Me” featuring lead vocals by Bush’s Gavin Rossdale. In addition, producer Howard Benson (Three Days Grace, Creed, My Chemical Romance) returns for production duties on two tracks on the forthcoming album.
The conservatory-trained musicians of Apocalyptica (three of whom are graduates of the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Helsinki) started playing Metallica covers in 1993 and in 1996 they released their critically acclaimed debut Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos. But it was 2007’s Worlds Collide that broke the band into an international phenomenon. The disc featured numerous guest stars. Slipknot’s Corey Taylor appeared on “I’m Not Jesus,” Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbia sang on “S.O.S. (Anything But Love)” Rammstein vocalist Till Lindemann performed on a cover of David Bowie and Brian Eno’s “Helden” and Three Days Grace Singer Adam Gontier sang his heart out on “I Don’t Care.” “I Don’t Care” blasted Apocalyptica through the stratosphere, and peaked at number one on the Billboard rock chart. Apocalyptica promoted Worlds Collide with a world tour that included numerous stops in North America.
Now, Apocalyptica are coming back to shake the world again. Don’t be left in the rubble.

Gary Cherone, singer and songwriter. The front man for the world renowned and musically diversified Extreme. Be it Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Funk Metal or a chart topping Pop Ballad, Gary Cherone never fails to capture the emotion and heart of a song. Extreme, with their 2008 reunion, has given a bounty of relief to loyal fans, after a thirteen year hiatus. With three quarters of the original Extreme lineup intact, Gary Cherone, guitarist & songwriter Nuno Bettencourt and bassist Pat Badger have proven that they still have plenty of Hard Rock left in their musical tanks, alongside newest band mate and drummer Kevin Figueiredo.
With 2008’s critically acclaimed Saudades de Rock followed by a triumphant touring schedule, this second chapter of Extreme is just beginning. Extreme’s reunion has even led to the release of Take Us Alive, a live CD/DVD recorded in August of 2009, in their hometown of Boston Mass, at the House Of Blues, with a release date of May 4, 2010.
Hard Rock Hideout had the privilege recently to catch up to Gary Cherone, while his busy schedule allowed. Gary talks about the reuniting of Extreme, “Take Us Alive”, his musical influences, the now classic “More Than Words” ballad, a dream duet and his true feelings of being the lead singer for Van Halen too. As polite and candid as he is down to earth, Gary Cherone has proven to this writer, that he and Extreme certainly are an American Rock ‘N’ Roll success story. Here is what Gary had to say:
HRH: Gary, what is the Extreme Rock ‘N’ Roll story behind “Take Us Alive”?
Gary Cherone: It’s our first live CD/DVD, the story behind it is surprisingly, after a thirteen year break, we have never played or felt stronger. “Take Us Alive” documents the 2009 tour and covers the full spectrum of the Extreme catalog of albums.
HRH: Seeing the fans sing the lyrics to “More Than Words” on “Take Us Alive” gave me those good and cool chills, did it have an effect on you while on stage?
Gary Cherone: Absolutely! This song has been a blessing and a curse over the years for Extreme. The band resented this song for a while because it was the one and sometimes only song people knew from us. We learned to embrace it though, now it’s a special song to us. After thirteen years, coming back to see the fans sing along to it live, every night, makes for one of the highlights of the night.
HRH: Were there any vintage, live Rock albums over the years, that influenced you to one day make a live Extreme album?
Gary Cherone: You are absolutely the first writer to ask this question and I’ve been waiting for this! KISS “I” and “II”, Cheap Trick “at Budokan”, The Who “Live At Leeds”, and The J. Geils Band had three terrific live albums. There are too many of them really, to mention. Just recently, I was sending emails to the guys saying, “hey, we finally have our KISS Alive out! It’s exciting after all these years to to have our live album. We recorded the show in Boston, at the House of Blues, it’s our hometown and it meant a lot to us to have it filmed there.
HRH: Gary, “Last Hour” from “Saudades de Rock” I point to as a career highlight for you vocally. Did you reach for any personal emotion to record this song?
Gary Cherone: Thank you very much. “Last Hour” is one of my favorites on this record. I always start on a personal level then lyrically go in different directions. I try to translate emotion onto tape. Steve Perry, (Journey), he came a few times during the making of “Saudades de Rock”. This was the only song Steve Perry hung out with us on in the control room.
HRH: Wow, Steve Perry! You must have been a bit nervous there?
Gary Cherone: I felt pressure with a legend sitting in there! I think seeing Steve Perry made me reach in for that little extra!
HRH: Have you known Steve Perry for some time?
Gary Cherone: Steve Perry is a friend of the band, has been for some years.
HRH: “Saudades de Rock”, do you look upon this album as a comeback or continuation of Extreme?
Gary Cherone: Both I guess. We treat it as a continuation. The public looks at it as a reunion record after thirteen years. “Saudades de Rock” is not a one-off album, this was the first of hopefully many more Extreme albums to come.
HRH: Gary, who is the singer that you would want to make the dream duet with?
Gary Cherone: I always wanted to do something with Ann Wilson, (Heart), she’s it! I’m always mentioning Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury and Roger Daltrey in conversations, about being the best voices in Rock ‘N’ Roll history, yet Ann Wilson, she is an amazing singer. There’s still time to do a duet with her, I just have to write the right song.
HRH: There’s plenty of time left Gary!
HRH: Are there any younger musicians or bands out there in 2010, that have made an impression on you?
Gary Cherone: Late at night, I’ll watch VH1 to catch new music. Muse comes to mind. The music I listen to is rather mellow compared to the Hard Music world I live in! I like Stone Temple Pilots, they have a new record coming out. I really like their new single “Between The Lines”. Norah Jones, I like to listen to her music.
HRH: Any Rock legends your listening to?
Gary Cherone: Bob Dylan, there is enough in his catalog to listen to and enjoy for the next twenty years! As a singer and songwriter, Bob Dylan is just great, there is no one else like him.
HRH: If a major motion picture was made on the career of Extreme, would the word “united” be in the title?
Gary Cherone: It would certainly be in the title. Extreme is a close bond of brothers, past members included. We grew up together, went around the block long enough to know what friendship is about. “United” would definitely be the theme of the movie.
HRH: Extreme has personified Rock Music diversity through song, time and again. How important is it to not be stereotyped into one specific genre?
Gary Cherone: I think that is probably a distinction we wear with pride. When you look at AC/DC, I would not want them any other way, you know what you are getting. Then, I look at the Beatles, Queen and Led Zeppelin, all three had no barriers, they really wrote honest music with expression. They did not try to ever fit in. When I sit down with Nuno, we really don’t know what is going to come out when we create music. We sit down together and write, Nuno plays the guitar and what comes flowing out of us during those moments is what becomes the record.
HRH: What changes in the music industry, within the last twenty years, annoy you the most?
Gary Cherone: Extreme has been fortunate and blessed from the past. After 13 years of being away, we know there will be touring and small venues, we don’t care how big the place is we play at. The digital revolution, where music can be downloaded for free, it doesn’t bother me so much. If people get turned on by Extreme through You Tube, then the interest to come see us live or buy our music can result and that is a good thing. There are pro’s and con’s to technology, it’s like comparing LP’s to CD’s, nothing changes.
HRH: Nothing beats those days of buying real vinyl.
Gary Cherone: If you show a kid an LP today, they would look at it as if it’s from another planet. There was nothing like going to the record store back when I grew up, getting the album home and putting the needle to the wax! Our parents used to look at us like we were crazy or something! That’s our generation though.
HRH: Today, the kids are raised on MP3’s.
Gary Chreone: I’m sure if we were kids now, that’s how we would get turned on to music. The sad thing is, kids get turned on song by song today. We grew up on concept records like Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”. Would kids have the attention span to listen to a whole piece of music like that now? A pro in technology is Guitar Hero, it’s giving kids an outlet to discover so many great bands and songs.
HRH: If you had a magic wand and could change just one thing that is wrong in the world today, what would you change?
Gary Cherone: (In a disguised voice, sounding like a Miss Universe contestant): All I want is world peace. (laughs)
Gary Cherone: I don’t want to sound like a Miss Universe contestant and say all I want is world peace! I’d like to see less pain in the heart, which is manifested physically by people abusing other people or emotionally abusing each other. This is such a big question and difficult to answer or resolve. It’s not that hard to start now, on a local level, by being kind to your neighbor. Our song, “Peace” on “Saudades de Rock” has two verses, the first verse lyrically is very local and internal, while the second verse covers the bigger issues of the world.
HRH: Any Tour plans for Extreme in 2010?
Gary Cherone: Nuno is out on tour with Rihanna right now. It’s a long shot, that maybe Extreme schedules tour dates at the end of the year. I’m working on another Rock project this Summer called Hurt Smile.
HRH: Hurt Smile? Is this a Rock or Hard Rock band? How heavy?
Gary Cherone: Hurt Smile is more rawer than Extreme and Hard Rock. My brother, Mark Cherone, plays guitar.
HRH: Very cool, I wish you guys the very best! I look forward to hearing Hurt Smile in the future.
Gary Cherone: Thanks!
HRH: Gary, what is your most positive experience you look back upon, being the lead singer for Van Halen?
Gary Cherone: For three years I was in the band and it was a fantastic experience I’ll never forget. Being on tour was the best part and all the crazy moments on stage! Just Playing with the mighty Van Halen! Getting to know Van Halen as human beings and recording the record, (“Van Halen III”), with Van Halen was such a great experience. Eddie was such a generous person, they all were generous. It all feels so surreal now, being ten years removed from Van Halen, I’m like, I was really in that band! I was very fortunate to be a part of Van Halen for a moment in time.

The Wig Wamania Golden Party was held at Shibuya Boxx in Tokyo on Saturday night. This was a special event for the dedicated fans. In a three hours show Wig Wam gave an electric set and an acoustic set. The show also included a Q&A session and a karaoke competition.
May 3, 2010 – Wig Wam completed their Japan tour with an exclusive party concert in Tokyo, 1st of May. A packed Shibuya Boxx attended Wig Wamania Treasure Island, Saturday Night Golden Party on Saturday night. This was a special event for dedicated fans.
Check out the video clip below:
Wig Wam started the evening with an electric set, where they among other things, gave the Japanese fans their AC / DC medley with Flash & Teeny spinning around playing each others instruments back to back. The electric set was followed by a Q&A session with Wig Wam on stage answering questions from the audience.
Afterwards, there was a karaoke competition where the public could choose between different Wig Wam songs. Glam was the host and Flash, Teeny and Sporty constituted jury.
In the acoustic set Wig Wam also did the Dream Police-song “Hot Legs”. During the very last song Glam left the stage and went down to the enthusiastic audience and sang with them as he walked around in the arena. This was of course extremely popular by the crowd.
When the audience eventually left Shibuya Boxx, Wig Wam stood in the doorway and greeted everyone and gave away signed flyers.

2Cents are currently on tour with Korn as part of this year’s Jagermeister Spring Music Tour. The Southern California quartet is supporting their latest hard-hitting release, Dress To Kill (released April 20th via Eight O Five Records, and produced by Matt Hyde), which manages to combine intensity and melody together, in one hellacious sonic assault.
Some of you might recognize guitarist Adair Cobley from his days in Manntis who were part of MTV’s Battle for Ozzfest. The reality competition show aired in 2005, and Manntis were one of the finalists. They ended up in 3rd place but they ultimately landed a record deal with Century Media. They released their debut album, Sleep In Your Grave in 2005. Cobley is now a full-time member of 2Cents.

Part of the new wave of Swedish heavy metal, Outshine has released their latest hard rocking effort, Until We Are Dead. This album definitely has a heavy feel to it. Not glam rock, and certainly not modern rock, Until We Are Dead has its own unique sound that is hard to categorize. That’s always the sign of an original band. Outshine are their own type of music, heavy as it is.
Lead singer Erlend Jegstad has an incredible voice that is showcased all over this disc. His high vocals are the perfect contrast to the dark music, creating an incredible wall of enjoyable sound. Jegstad’s voice is a breath of fresh air in the world of heavy metal. As unique as his band, Jegstad can’t be classified. What he does is sing his ass off and put exceptional vocal tracks on Until We Are Dead.
Until We Are Dead is filled with chord and tempo changes that would make Rush proud. Constantly evolving and never repeating, each song on this album is a unique experience. Without any ballads or filler, Outshine has put together 10 tracks of hardcore, hard rock. If you’re a fan of banging your head hard to progressive, dark metal, Until We Are Dead is the album for you.
Guitarist Jimmy Norberg gets to show off his shredding skills frequently. On the opening notes of Viva Shevegas, Norberg’s guitar kicks off the song in style. His work on “One For The Nerves” and “Ain’t Life Grand” is stellar. Norberg shows his talent throughout the record and his talent is enormous. Excellent guitar work is really what helps Until We Are Dead stand out from the rest of the pack.
Packed with themes of drinking, death, darkness, murder, and confusion, Until We Are Dead is a heavy album that metal fans are bound to love. Stand out tracks on the disc include “Ain’t Life Grand”, “Viva Shevegas”, and “Riot”. All exceptionally crafted, these songs are the strongest showcase of Outshine’s ability as a band.
Until We Are Dead is a solid album that metal fans are sure to love. Heavy guitars, pounding drums (with exceptional rhythm), anger filled vocals, and energetic rock music complete this disc and make it a worthwhile investment. If you’ve been searching for that summer album where you can roll down the windows of your car, crank the music, pump your fist in the air, and bang your head while driving 70, look no further.
