Winger at the M3 Rock Festival
I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with Winger at the M3 Rock Festival. The last time I saw Winger perform a few years ago, it was in support of their album IV. I don’t know if it was the small crowd at my local venue, the blazing set that was done by Frank Hannon beforehand, or just an off night, but Winger was just OK that night. I was hoping for more at M3 and I got it! I don’t know if it was the unspoken competition between bands, but Kip Winger and company were great at M3. They put on a great set, and were much more lively than the last time I saw them.
I have seen Reb Beach play several times in the past, not only with Winger, but also with Dokken & Whitesnake. He never disappoints, and was quite fun to watch. Winger’s second guitar player John Roth got his chance to strut his stuff too, and he proved to be a very good player as well. Kip Winger’s voice is still in fine form after all of these years, and he still sounds great on all of those classic Winger tunes. Winger’s set included the songs, “Seventeen”, “You are the Saint, I am the Sinner”, “Headed for a Heartbreak”, “Down Incognito”, “Deal With the Devil”, “Can’t Get Enough” and more. I truly enjoyed Winger’s set, and I hope they return to another M3 Rock Festival in the future! Check out the video clip and pictures from the show below.
