Forthcoming full-length, Feeding The Wolves, due out August 31st, band to tour alongside Shinedown, Sevendust and Chevelle on this summer’s “Carnival of Madness” Tour
“Shoot It Out” has already been blasted out to radio, infiltrating Active and Modern Rock stations nationwide, and it’s a fitting preview of what’s to come from the Tennessee quartet’s highly anticipated third full-length, Feeding the Wolves, available August 31st on Universal Republic Records.
Feeding the Wolves is the heaviest album that the group has made in nearly a decade. A long promised gift to loyal fans from the Tennessee band and a much needed opening for a rock world starving for some kick-ass direction.
“I’ve enjoyed every album we’ve made for different reasons,” says Jesse. “We never want to make the same record twice, but this one started with a kind of aggressive edge and ended with that same energy that really felt special. We worked hard not to take that ‘edge’ off. We kept the integrity of the songs by keeping them aggressive.” Lewis seconds the notion: “We’ve been saying for years we wanted to get back to a heavier, darker sound and then by the time we’d go into the studio, things would change. This time nothing changed. There was always that kick-ass feeling in the room, coupled with some things we haven’t done before.”
Producer Howard Benson (Seether, Flyleaf) was chosen to play an integral component to locking down the 10 Years magic that had made them one of the world’s most enigmatic live and studio bands. “He understood where we were at and where we wanted to go,” says Lewis. “He was perfect for this ‘big’ sounding kind of record,” states Jesse.
10 Years deliver their trademark soaring melodies, while conjuring a darker, heavier vibe than before. The band embraces their metallic side and truly blows away all expectations with “Shoot It Out.”
10 Years began debuting “Shoot It Out” while on tour with Flyleaf during the “Unite and Fight Tour” this Spring, and it instantly became a crowd favorite alongside hits such as “Beautiful” and “Wasteland”. Request “Shoot It Out” from your favorite rock radio station now!
In order to bring Feeding the Wolves to the masses, 10 Years will join Shinedown, Sevendust and Chevelle on this summer’s “Carnival of Madness Tour”. These four juggernauts of modern rock have put together a package that’s bound to be remembered for years to come, and it’s the perfect platform for fans to experience selections from Feeding the Wolves live and hear favorites from the band’s past releases The Autumn Effect (2005) and Division (2008).

AVAILABLE IN NORTH AMERICA OCTOBER 12th ON SPV/STEAMHAMMER
They were the prime mover, they preached back seat education, and together with Alice Cooper they fed Frankenstein….now they are back….meaner, leaner and heavier than ever. ZODIAC MINDWARP & THE LOVE REACTION will enter a new decade of heavy dirty street rock n`roll as they declare “We Are Volsung”. Inspired by the Nordic mythology the album features ten brand-new unadulterated. The album will be available in three formats: CD, LP and digital download. The band has just unveiled the cover art for “We Are Volsung” which can be seen above.
SPV / Steamhammer are very proud to have the band on board for a journey to Valhalla and back. The album will be released in the North America on October 12th and followed by a US Tour in January /February 2011.
In a musical world of hairspray and spandex, two long haired leather clad rockers were introduced to each other by their “exotic dancer” girlfriends; one, a graphic artist and poet, the other, a budding philosopher. They immediately dropped everything, joined forces and created the dirtiest, wildest band of all time. One year later, they signed to Polygram and released the ground breaking High Priest of Love EP, and the Tattooed Beat Messiah album shortly after, which contained the well received single “Prime Mover”.
Overnight, they accidentally changed the look of all the rock bands of the time from the obligatory spandex, eye liner and tinsel, to rough biker jackets, engineer boots and goatee beards. Mötley Crüe declared them to be their favourite band and immediately restyled themselves for their Girls, Girls, Girls record. ZMATLR grew in notoriety, touring the World and America, co-headlining arenas and theatres with Guns `N` Roses and finding themselves at home playing festivals and baseball stadiums with Iron Maiden. After attending a Hammersmith Odeon ZMATLR concert and giving it his seal of approval, Alice Cooper recorded the ZODIAC MINDWARP penned “Feed MyFrankenstein”, which was later, performed in the film Wayne’s World…
The critical acclaim of ZMATLR then caused rare misfortune, when they lost their young naive bass player to the lures of The Cult. The band soldiered on regardless. Sometime later, in Paris, Slam Thunderhide, their drummer decided to put down his sticks to become a Go-Go dancer in Vancouver.
Today with The Cat shaking the Earth on drums and Jack Shitt rumbling the low frequencies, they ride again, honing their skills playing for the Viking descendants in Scandinavia. From these tough, manly ordeals, a new set of recordings have been forged. “We Are Volsung” is the result, a celebration in the Norse tradition.

Bret Michaels recently joined Jimmy Buffett on stage in Detroit, MI to perform the fan favorite, “Margaritaville.” The two musicians share the stage and vocal responsibilities as the on looking crowd sings along. Watch the video below!
Bret Michaels’ independent album Custom Built roars onto the Billboard Top 200 charts this week at #14 and proving that an independent artist and underdog can succeed alongside industry favorites. Michael’s is currently at #4 on the Rock Album chart as well as #1 for both the Independent Albums and Hard Rock Albums chart. Showcasing Michaels’ diversity as a singer and songwriter, the album contains tracks such as “Nothing to Lose” featuring Miley Cyrus; “Go That Far,” a club remix of the theme from Michaels’ record-breaking reality show Rock of Love; and “What I Got,” a remake of the popular Sublime song which features a new verse added by Michaels, who has been performing the song live
for enthusiastic fans all summer.
Texas rockers Anchored will soon be hitting the road with Adler’s Appetite. Check out their video clip, “Dirty in Texas”.
DANZIG “DETH RED SABAOTH” – A DARK & HEAVY RETURN THAT TRIUMPHS! Never count out Glenn Danzig. A living Metal Legend like he, never surrenders and will never lay off his drive to make the music that evokes haunting themes and dark places. “Deth Red Sabaoth” was released on June 21, 2010, on Evillive/The End Records. This ninth studio album from DANZIG is nothing short of brilliant, surpassing my expectations of what “Deth Red Sabaoth” would sound like. A valiant return of sort, with the last DANZIG album being “Circle Of Snakes” from 2004. This new DANZIG album of eleven songs shall take you by the hand… and guide you down a path of Heavy Metal grooves, that coincide with all the nightmarish nuances and feel of a vintage Vincent Price, black & white horror flick.
Yes, all the talk is “Deth Red Sabaoth” is a throwback to the first four DANZIG albums and I would be foolish to disagree. If Glenn Danzig felt his best music style needed to be saluted, he surely puts on one hell of a salute here. Cutting to the Metal chase… “Ju Ju Bone” is my favorite song from this album. Then again, come tomorrow, it very well might be “Rebel Spirits”, these songs are just so uncannily contagious to my Metal mind. Where “Ju Ju Bone” carries you along through a foggy nights Metal fantasy, “Rebel Spirits” comes straight at you with the aggression meter turned up a few notches higher, both in the Metal and vocals of Glenn.
“Black Candy” with its molasses tempo has its dark side magnified through the doom fueled riffs and beats, instigated by Glenn’s ever macabre filled, vocal angst. Glenn plays drums on “Black Candy” and he hits the skins just like he sings… very deliberate and very chilling. “On A Wicked Night” has some Classic Rock vibe happening, with the guitar play of Tommy Victor resonating some real late ’70’s Hard Rock excitement. Maybe it’s just me… still “On A Wicked Night” sounds and feels so damn good. “Deth Red Moon” can best be described as THE song on this DANZIG album that will sound more incredible with each listen. I might just pick this to be my favorite song on “Deth Red Sabaoth” for Fridays only. Tommy Victor lets it all air out with some unreal good leads on this brazenly strong Heavy Metal song.
“Night Star Hel” makes for the finest candidate song to crank up in your car, as you drive through a long forgotten cemetery at night. During a damn full moon too. It’s the classic, no, epic sound of “Night Star Hel” combined with some of the most spine chilling riffs and rhythmic beats that I have heard in years. This song should have ended with Glenn Danzig saying… “are you scared yet”? Instead the climactic highway you hear and ride on “Night Star Hel” is the one and only Johnny Kelly on drums, taking control of this song’s beat and raising holy hell with it.
Ending “Deth Red Sabaoth” is Glenn’s eerily similar to Jim Morrison vocals on “Left Hand Rise Above”. I always and forever will consider Glenn Danzig a unique and formidable vocalist, although the comparison to Jim Morrison is by all means a most sincere and non-confronting statement… in other words, a compliment. What DANZIG can do with turned down tempos is frighteningly amazing to me. The total impact that this band creates with doom and dark tones with chant like beats, is a jaw dropping listen into how Metal Music is truly an atmospheric experience, when done so unpretentiously as “Deth Red Sabaoth”.

Warrant posted the following note on their blog tonight:
Warrant was founded on the notion that any press is good press, and for that, we would like to thank AOL, Perez Hilton andTMZ for their continued front page cover stories regarding Jani Lane. When you run your next update, please note that he is NOT the singer in Warrant. With the exception of a failed 11 show reunion in 2008, he has not been affiliated with Warrant in over 7 years.
To all of the promoters and ticket holders for our upcoming shows, please know that Robert Mason “the” lead singer of Warrant, along with original band members Joey Allen, Jerry Dixon, Steven Sweet and Erik Turner, will not be in jail and are ready to rock and roll as scheduled. If you (the press) are going to run these stories, please spell our names correctly and get the facts straight. Also, please mention our web site, warrantrocks.com, as we can always use some extra web traffic. Thanks for the free support.
P.S. We do wish Lane all the best in his on going efforts.
HRH Note: The TMZ Report is below!
TMZ has learned former Warrant singer Jani Lane just plead no contest to DUI stemming from his most recent arrest back in May — and has been ordered to serve 120 days in jail. As we first reported, the ’80s rocker — who was also busted for DUI in 2009 — was arrested in Woodland Hills, CA on May 9 after crashing into a parked car … and then blowing twice the legal limit during a breathalyzer test.
Besides the jail time — Lane will lose his license for three years and will have to complete a 30-month alcohol education program.
We’re told Jani is scheduled to surrender on July 27.

Flamenco Guitar Master BENJAMIN WOODS of the Band FLAMETAL Releases New Cd ‘HEAVY MELLOW” Featuring STEVE STEVENS
AOL offers up one of the hottest unique music acts of 2010 by giving you a free download. FLAMETAL‘s free mp3 went up as AOL’s weekly mp3 feature — here’s the link:
Benjamin Woods and his monster creation FLAMETAL have released their latest masterpiece “HEAVY MELLOW” July 6th on Flametal Records. This album embraces the metal-works of SLAYER, MEGADETH, KISS and the SCORPIONS to name a few. “This is a Flamenco Guitar tribute album to some of the great Metal masterpieces,” says Woods. “It is definitely a different album from the other FLAMETAL releases and is more of a solo effort that is a very powerful to play live. Although the songs are very dark, everyone gets it, even your Mom.”
Woods has built a substantial following through his years of touring and recording as “HEAVY MELLOW” unveils him to be a master musician with deep musical roots in metal, classical and Flamenco guitar. Woods is also one of the only American Flamenco guitarists to ever grace the pages of Spain’s national newspaper El Pais, and Spain’s number one Flamenco publication ALMA 100.
Woods raw energy combined with exotic and sophisticated acoustic playing and the talent of a new-generation shred-master is a much needed breath of fresh air to the instrumental rock genre.
JAMSYNC MUSIC and Swedish rockers Distorted Wonderland have inked a deal for the release of their highly anticipated debut. Distorted Wonderland features vocalist Olof Lindgren and bassist Axel Karlsson from the Swedish glam band Overnight Sensation. Moving in a different direction, Olof and Axel wanted to move on into a different direction. The idea was to combine strong melodies with hard and heavy riffs. When Olof and Axel were recording the backup vocals on Swedish rockers Hardcore Superstar’s fourth album, they felt inspired and that the time was right for a new band. As a side project, they spent time writing songs and pre-producing the material until the pieces fell into place. Together with Petter Karlsson on the drums and Fredrik Lundstedt on guitar they started to record their self titled first album. The new video was also shot for the single on ‘Raised On Rock n’ Roll’. In 2009 Overnight Sensation decided to split. Now Olof and Axel could focus on Distorted Wonderland and the album was finally finished in early 2010. The eleven songs on the album were created through a wide spectra of influences and deliver a musical mass of heavy rock combined with melodic choruses. The thought behind each song was to create a suitable mood and a balance between lyrics and music resulting in this battering ram CD. Distorted Wonderland is set for a fall release. Eighteen months in the making, some of the most beautiful voices in the scene, a massive production, one hell of an album, two videoclips and one documentary… The Kiske-Somerville collaboration album has all the trademarks of a real event for the Rock fans in 2010, and the release on September 24th in Europe and October 12th in the USA mark some dates that should be noted in every fan agendas.
The collaboration between vocalist Michael Kiske (Helloween, Place Vendome) and American singer Amanda Somerville was born as a concept put together thanks to the input of Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino. “I did a duet with a female singer on ‘Breathing Water’ by Indigo Dying”, explains Michael Kiske. “It was so nice that he offered me a chance to make an album of all duet songs with a famous female singer.”
This exciting album sees Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Sinner) and Magnus Karlsson (Starbreaker, Primal Fear) handling most of the songwriting (with more contributions from Sander Gommans formerly of After Forever and Amanda Sormeville herself), with Sinner overseeing the production & mix at various recording studios in Europe.
Amanda Somerville is the American singer-songwriter and vocal coach who was tapped to replace Epica vocalist Simone Simons on the band’s North American tour with Symphony X due to Simons’ health issues. Amanda was also featured on Kamelot’s latest release, “Ghost Opera”, the Rock Opera “Aina” and recently toured with Avantasia.
“When Mat Sinner asked me if I wanted to be the “other half” of the face of the album, I was very honored and quite looking forward to working more closely with Michael Kiske” tells Amanda. “We’d both been involved in various projects over the years together, such as Aina and Avantasia, but it was always through third parties and we didn’t sing together like we do here. It’s not for nothing that Michael’s a legend in the scene. He’s got a very unique voice, a special delivery of his performance and is a wonderful person on top of it all. This has been a great experience all across the board!”. Kiske adds “To sing together with the gifted and beautiful Amanda was another genius idea of Serafino! And it was a most pleasant experience to meet her. Amanda has by far the best female voice I have heard for ages. And the album is a killer.”
Two videoclips were filmed for the songs “Silence” and “If I Had A Wish” in Nurnberg, Germany. Joining Kiske and Somerville for the shoot were bassist and main composer Mat Sinner, guitarist Sander Gommans (After Forever), drummer Rami Ali and keyboardist Jimmy Kresic (Voodoo Circle). The clips were directed by Martin Mueller of RCN TV, who previously helmed the videoclip production for Unheilig, Subway To Sally, Helloween, U.D.O. and Gotthard.
The digital only release of the single, “Silence” on August 20th, will precede the release of the full-length CD.
The “Kiske-Somerville” album final tracklisting includes:
The Bonus DVD will include videoclips of “Silence” and “If I Had A Wish” plus a “Making of” documentary.
The songs “Silence” and “If I Had A Wish” can exclusively be listened to in full by streaming on the Frontiers Web Radio from July 20th.

GUNS N’ ROSES FIRST U.S. PERFORMANCE IN FOUR YEARS! THEIR ONLY 2010 APPEARANCE IN USA!
Making their first U.S. concert appearance in four years – and playing their only U.S. show in 2010 – GUNS N’ ROSES has been officially recruited with DAUGHTRY to join the inaugural ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL and cement its assault on the legendary Sturgis Rally’s 70th Anniversary celebration in Sturgis, SD, at the newly constructed Rock N’ Rev Amphitheater at Monkey Rock USA.
GUNS N’ ROSES will headline the fifth and final night of the festival, as it moves to the Brand New Rock ‘N Rev Amphitheaterat Monkey Rock USA in Sturgis, adjacent to its original location. L.A.’s notorious rock ‘n’ roll bad boys – one of Q magazine’s “50 Bands to See Before You Die” – have combined forces with HDlogix and DC3 Global for this rare and very special appearance on home soil to bring the “full-out rock ‘n’ roll spectacle” (Spin) of their 2010 “Chinese Democracy World Tour” to Sturgis and finish off the hijacking of the world’s biggest, baddest biker event, Monday, Aug. 9 through Friday, Aug. 13, 2010.
GUNS N’ ROSES’ final night performance, immediately following previously announced Aug. 13 headliner Alice in Chains, is the ultimate climax to five full nights of undeniable rock ‘n’ roll bedlam, and now gives the ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL six of the most explosive, multi-platinum AMERICAN Active Rock Bands of 2010. DAUGHTRY, supporting its second consecutive #1 album, will join 3 Doors Down, Hinder and others on Aug. 12, the 4th night of the ROCK N’ REV FESTIVAL.
In order to welcome GUNS N’ ROSES and DAUGHTRY to the ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL, new festival owners HDlogix and its producers, DC3 Global, are starting construction immediately on the Rock N’ Rev Amphitheater at Monkey Rock USA, a new custom-built amphitheater on a 25-acre site at Monkey Rock designed to maximize logistical opportunities while enhancing the overall experience for everyone attending – from the bands to the fans.
“We are truly blessed to be able to announce the addition of GUNS N’ ROSES at this historic moment in the band’s history, along with DAUGHTRY, just as we relocate the ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL to our own Amphitheater at Monkey Rock USA,” said DC3’s co-founder, Daniel E. Catullo III. “Monkey Rock’s vision to create a nationally recognized brand among the world’s top motorcycle rallies is a perfect fit for us, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them as our partners.”
ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL’s relationship with Glencoe Campground is amicable amid the change in logistics. As such, they are working together to arrange special VIP accommodations at the festival for all Glencoe campers that week.
Raising the insanity level to previously unimaginable heights, GUNS N’ ROSES and DAUGHTRY are just the latest high octane multi-platinum rockers to join the growing list of bands at the ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL. They unite with fellow headliners Stone Temple Pilots, Godsmack, Creed, Alice in Chains and 3 Doors Down to establish the ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL as “The Home of Rock’s Hardest New Chart Toppers” – a different one topping each night’s lineup.
Tickets for the ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL are $45 per day, general admission ($150 for a five-day pass), and ON SALE NOW through Ticketmaster.com and rocknrevfestival.com and at all Ticketmaster locations, or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. Tickets also will be available in person beginning August 5, 2010 on location at the Festival’s on-site box office. GUNS N’ ROSES has sold more than 110 million albums worldwide, including over 46 million in the United States. The band’s 1987 major label debut, Appetite for Destruction, is the highest selling debut album of all time, with sales in excess of 38 million copies worldwide. In addition, it reached No. 1 on the United States Billboard 200 and charted three Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “Sweet Child o’ Mine,” the band’s first No. 1 smash. Their 1991 albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II debuted on the two highest spots on the Billboard 200 and have sold a combined 14 million copies in the United States alone and 35 million worldwide. GUNS N’ ROSES’ fusion of punk rock, blues-rock, heavy metal and classic rock ‘n’ roll prompted Ozzy Osbourne to call the band “the next Rolling Stones” and Rolling Stone to include them among their “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.”
Earlier this year, Rolling Stone hailed the Canadian leg of their “Chinese Democracy” tour as “a high-energy three-hour marathon of new material and classic GNR hits.”
For nearly three years, the only thing keeping pace with the growing number of miles on DAUGHTRY’s tour bus has been the band’s list of achievements. After charting three #1 songs from its five-time platinum debut and spending more than two years on the road, Daughtry released Leave This Town (19/RCA). The album entered at the top of the Billboard 200, making it the band’s second #1 album. The album’s first single, “No Surprise,” extended the group’s extraordinary streak of #1 singles to four. The third and current single, “September,” continues to climb steadily on radio charts, approaching the Top 10. Recently, Daughtry completed its hugely successful, first-ever headlining arena tour, which began last summer. The ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL is just one of the group’s select U.S. dates this summer. The massive production adds another dimension to the band’s electrifying stage presence and musicianship, with a unique stage design showcasing album artwork by legendary comic book artist Jim Lee, which was featured in the Leave This Town album packaging.
With an unrivaled lineup of twenty bands over five nights and spectacular fireworks displays each night at Monkey Rock USA, the ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL promises to be the hands-down largest party ever thrown at the world’s largest motorcycle event, which annually draws over a half million patrons. World famous showman Jim Rose and his circus are set to emcee the five-day event and help give attendees a show they will never forget.
ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL’s sweltering lineup also includes Three Days Grace, Hellyeah, Cage The Elephant, Theft, Sweet Cyanide, Charm City Devils, Rev Theory, Eagles of Death Metal, The Darling Stilettos (featuring former GNR drummer Matt Sorum), Pop Evil, Skillet, and Swayback — just some of the bands making massive music at this colossal biker bash.
Everything about the ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL will appeal to the “leather and chrome” sensibilities in everyone who attends…from those who embody the biker lifestyle to the more casually minded weekend warriors and their families. The Vendor Village will be overflowing with an assortment of food, clothing, gear and other accessories, top tattoo artists and the best barbeque and related cooking specialists from the nation’s sauciest hotspots such as Austin, Memphis, Chicago, and New Orleans. The overall Mardi Gras atmosphere will recall some of Europe’s top festivals, with a decidedly American flair. After all, biking and rock ‘n’ roll are two of America’s greatest heritages.

Former members of YES and TOTO return with a new band, Album and Tour
The term “Super-Group” describes a band rising out of two of the most creative bands of the past 30 years: YOSO is formed out of TOTO’s brilliant lead vocalist Bobby Kimball and the creative force of former YES members, Tony Kaye and Billy Sherwood, thus equaling the magic of YES with the voice of TOTO. However, YOSO is much more than a combination of two classic rock groups. The band’s debut album “Elements” will debut this coming September in the USA on Frontiers Records. This long awaited release comes with a bonus live CD where the band plays some old and new classics. This musical blend presents a fascinating combination of the sound of YES (“90125″/”Big Generator” era) and TOTO, with a very interesting and original sound that truly encompasses the styles.

True rock legends such as UFO are characterized not only by the fact that they have added several classic anthems to the annals of rock history, but that their musical output, after many years, still remains at such a consistently high level and they always have something new and fresh coming up. With classic albums such as “Phenomenon”, “Force it” and “No Heavy Pettin” Phil Mogg, Vinnie Moore, Andy Parker and Paul Raymond still sound vital and imaginative to this day. With the upcoming album “Best of a Decade” you can experience this yourself – this best of album will be released September 28th via SPV/ Steamhammer.
There are more stories about UFO than actual songs that they have composed. Any band who has been in the music business for 40 plus years are bound to have experienced difficult times, but also dazzling success. UFO’s story began in London way back in 1969, when vocalist Phil Mogg, drummer Andy Parker, guitarist Mick Bolton and bassist Pete Way formed the group, borrowing the band name from a legendary London music club. The band distinguished themselves with their very own, unmistakable style, touching a nerve among their growing following with rock numbers like ‘Prince Kajuku’, ‘Follow You Home’ or ‘C’mon Everybody’ from their albums “UFO 1″, “Flying” and “UFO Live”.
UFO’s global breakthrough came when German guitarist, Michael Schenker, joined the fold in 1973, having left his band the Scorpions to accept an offer from Phil Mogg and Pete Way. UFO released three consecutive rock classics with Schenker (“Phenomenon” (1974), “Force It” (1975) and “No Heavy Pettin'” (1976)), featuring classics such as: ‘Doctor Doctor’, ‘Shoot, Shoot’, and ‘Rock Bottom’. Following the arrival of keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Paul Raymond, UFO released the albums “Lights Out” (1977) and “Obsession” (1978), which included the hit singles ‘Too Hot To Handle’, ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Only You Can Rock Me’. Their live release “Strangers In The Night” came out in 1979 and is still considered to be one of the best live releases of all time, unfortunately, this also brought about the end of the Mogg, Way, Schenker, Parker & Raymond line-up.
The reorganized band underwent fifteen years marked by various eras and numerous line-up changes. To everyone’s surprise, autumn 1993 saw the return of the former UFO line-up consisting of Mogg, Way, Schenker, Parker and Raymond. This new edition of the classic team released the album “Walk On Water”, their first joint effort after in over fifteen years and they embarked on a world tour. However, Schenker left UFO again during the “Walk On Water” tour to continue working with his own group, MSG, while Mogg & Way went on to release their second album, Chocolate Box. The UFO album “Covenant and Sharks”, recorded by Mogg, Way and Schenker, arrived at the stores in 2000 and 2002. Vinnie Moore soon joined the band and recorded songs for the new album “You Are Here”which also featured Jason Bonham taking over the drumming duties. During the subsequent world tour, UFO recorded a show in Germany, which was later released as the live album, “Showtime”, as well as a DVD featuring additional bonus material. In 2006 left UFO to join Foreigner and was replaced by UFO’s original drummer, Andy Parker for their release “The Monkey Puzzle” In 2009 UFO released the critically acclaimed album “The Visitor”.

If you’ve never heard Dirty Penny; well first of all you need to come out from the rock you’ve been living under the last few years cause these California boys are the real F’N deal, and secondly it will only take one listen to their sophomore effort “Young & Reckless” for you to see that these guys were fed a steady diet of 80’s era Sunset Strip hard rock growing up; especially Motley Crue’s “Too Fast For Love”, and the world is a much better place because of it. Made up Binge Daniels on vocals, Jonny Prynce on guitar, Tyno Vincent on bass, and Spanky Savage on drums; Dirty Penny with a little help from producer Johnny Lima, have grown in leaps and bounds since the release of their 2007 debut “Take It Sleezy”. With a sound falling somewhere between early Motley Crue and L.A. Guns; Dirty Penny has firmly embraced the past while still keeping their heads in the present, and they’ve managed to trim the fat from their music that weighs a lot of the new sleaze/glam bands down nowadays.
“Young & Reckless” kicks off with “If I Were You (I’d Hate Me Too)”, and the Boys are hitting on all rock n’ roll cylinders on the opener; a song that can be called nothing, but a smash hit. What I really love about this song is the huge massive drums from Spanky Savage, the guy must be hiding an extra set of arms somewhere. Heavy, but catchy, and filled with piss and vinegar this is the type of song that will be listened to and loved for years to come. Track #2 on “Young & Reckless” is “In Luv With Insanity” and every time I hear it I keep expecting L.A. Gun’s Phil Lewis to jump in and share the vocals with Binge Daniels it just has that big of a L.A. Guns sound to it, but a great song nevertheless. Spanky “the Octopus” Savage strikes again on “L.C.S.” stealing the spotlight from guitarist Jonny Price, who puts on a great performance on this heavy rocker, but Savage’s drums just sound so massive once again. Tyno Vincent finally gets some well deserved attention with his playing for track #4 “On My Sleeve”. Just some great fat, thumping bass lines from Vincent and a great solo from Prynce as well. “On My Sleeve” is #2 on my favorites list off “Young & Reckless”, if commercial rock radio was of any use to the world at all it would be all over this song. Jonny Prynce has a great intro on “Goin’ Out In Style” and the rest of the band follows through on this heavy rocker. “Stand On My Own” is yet another track rock radio should be all over, and although it has a few F bombs in it, which is nothing a radio edit can’t take care of, this song just flat-out rocks from beginning to end. Prynce has a cool short but sweet solo on this track as well, which is #3 on my favorites list. Other stand out tracks on “Young & Reckless” include “Livin’ Rock”, “Wrecking Ball” & “Crash and Burn”, but you really can’t go wrong on any of the 13 tracks on “Young & Reckless”.
Judging from Dirty Penny’s growth from “Take It Sleezy” to “Young & Reckless” the Boys have just began to scratch the surface of what they are capable of in rock n’ roll and I for one am F’N excited cause I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be a hell of a ride. If you’re looking for a leader in the resurgence of sleaze/glam hard rock in the U.S. They can be found in Santa Cruz, CA in the form of Dirty Penny.

MICKI FREE’s AMERICAN HORSE just hit stores this week. The 11-track disc showcases Free’s fiery guitar and writing skills and the musical talents of his band, drummer Cindy Blackman (Lenny Kravitz) and bassist David Santos (Billy Joel, John Fogerty). This album marks the first in a series of Native Music Rocks Records releases due out in 2010 on Fontana/Universal.
Born in West Texas, Free grew up mostly in Europe where his stepfather, an Army sergeant, was stationed and where the young musician was introduced to rock ‘n’ roll. “I wasn’t a Beatles guy,” he recalls now. “I dug the Beatles, but I heard Hendrix and Cream and the Stones and that was it. I’m more of a bad-boy guy, I guess.” The family relocated to Illinois when Free was a teenager. He formed a band, Smokehouse, that played shows with Ted Nugent, Rush, REO Speedwagon, KISS and a nascent Cheap Trick, with the 17-year-old Free earning a reputation as something of a six-string prodigy on the Midwest scene. KISS’ Gene Simmons was so impressed that he told Free, “You’re a star. If you ever get to L.A…. look me up.”
Free headed west in 1979, and after sleeping on girlfriends’ floors and hanging out at the famous Rainbow bar, he eventually did hook up with Simmons again–a chance meeting at a studio where both happened to be working. Free wound up going on tour and being managed by Diana Ross, Simmons’ then-girlfriend, and after coming off the road he was offered membership in Shalamar; though his initial instinct was to turn it down, Simmons counseled FREE that “if you join this band it will be like getting into a limo instead of a cab right now.” Micki took the gig and didn’t look back. “I won a Grammy Award with them, so it was obviously the right move,” he says.
After Shalamar, Free hooked up with Jean Beauvoir, who had been playing with Little Steven Van Zandt’s Disciples of Soul, in Crown of Thorns, which was managed by Amazing Management (Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley) and produced by Jean, Micki and Paul Stanley. After a pair of albums in that configuration, Free decided to go solo with 2002’s Black Moon…Black Sun, the first of his two solo rock albums. 2002’s Gypsy Cowboy was nominated for seven Native American Awards (Nammys), which named him “Best Male Artist of the Year” in 2002. Onetime Cheap Trick bassist Jon Brant was part of his Micki Free Electric Blues Experience, while Micki’s path also led to work with LA & Babyface, Queen’s Roger Taylor, the late Tony Thompson of Chic, former Yes guitarist Trevor Rabin and others.
Free won further notoriety when comedian Dave Chappelle put together a Chappelle’s Show skit poking fun at the guitarist’s long-haired good looks, mistaking him for a woman before finally declaring that “Micki Free is not a girl!” “I became infamous overnight,” Free says.
After deciding to “follow the red path” of his heritage and embrace Native American flute music, with 2003’s The Sun Chaser album, Micki is back with American Horse, a collection true to his hard rock roots. This is a real rock album, and I’m very proud of it,” says Free. “I was just inspired to write some cool rock stuff again. To me, rock ‘n’ roll is dead as we know it; there’s some cool music out there, but it’s not rock ‘n’ roll, classic stuff like we used to know–Zep, Hendrix, Cream, all of that. That’s what I do. My heart is in rock ‘n’ roll, and that’s what’s on this album.”

Managing to combine the sounds of ’80s era first-wave thrash and ’90s era power metal, Albany, New York’s Addicted to Pain will appeal to a wide variety of heavy metal connoisseurs. Comprised of Leo Curley (vocals, guitar), Bob Horvath (bass), and Gregory Nash (drums), it all started when Bob and Leo met in a band called Eyesore (which included a pre-Shadows Fall Jason Bittner in its ranks), before finding the missing piece to the puzzle with Gregory. But come 2010, the trio has unleashed their first-ever release – a self-titled four-song EP – which is available for purchase via iTunes, as well the group’s official site and myspace page.
And to get that extra added crunch to their sound, the boys enlisted the aid of a gentleman that was there at the dawn of the thrash metal movement, Alex Perialas. “Most amazing/draining recording experience ever,” recalls Curley. “We worked with Alex Perialas (Anthrax, S.O.D., Testament, Pro-Pain, etc.). He really pulled it out of us. It was like working in a piece of metal history – living in the band house and studio where all that happened was humbling. We had a lot to live up to.”
And it turns out that the Perialas/Addicted to Pain union has certainly reaped metallic dividends, as evidenced from all four of the EP’s tracks. But the group has specific favorites in mind. Curley – “For me it’s “Trust Me.” This song was a skeleton when we brought it to Alex. He really had a lot to do with the formation of this sweet little ditty. Many vocal rewrites. All the hard work gives me a real sense of pride on this one.” Nash – “Here and Now,””cause it’s in 7.” Horvath – “”Trust Me” is brutal and “Abigail” for its sound and its lyrical content.”
Addicted to Pain is also gearing up to tour the US in the fall. It won’t be long until headbangers coast to coast will get to experience this fearsome threesome head-on. Or as Curley explains the group’s live show, “Blood, sweat, and tears all over the stage!”

Masterplan is back with their fourth full length effort Time to Be King. On this new release, Masterplan’s original singer Jorn Lande returns to the band. Quite honestly, I couldn’t have been more excited when I found out that Jorn Lande was returning to Masterplan. I did enjoy their MKII CD with Mike DiMeo on vocals, however Jorn Lande has been one of my favorite singers for a long time. The Masterplan releases with Jorn Lande on vocals are great, and I was hoping for more of the same.
I recall one of the reasons why Jorn Lande left Masterplan in the first place is, he wanted to make a more melodic record the next time around, while Roland Grapow wanted to go in a heavier direction like their debut. With Time To Be King, Masterplan both succeeds in being heavy, and melodic.Time To Be King starts off on the right note with a high-speed rocker “Fiddle of Time”. This song is pure power metal perfection. If there were any doubts that Masterplan would not return to form, “Fiddle of Time” threw that notion out of the window. In fact, the first four songs on Time To Be King are amongst the best that Masterplan has ever recorded. They are that good!
On the song, “The Dark Road” there are moments where Jorn Lande sounds exactly like David Coverdale. I did a double take the first time I listened to this song. This is a mid tempo number that ought to be getting airplay everywhere. This is an awesome tune.
Masterplan sounds better than ever on Time To Be King. Roland Grapow’s guitar work is excellent, and the rhythm section of Mike Terrana and Jan S. Eckert is as good as you will hear in any power metal band. Make no mistake about it, Jorn Lande’s voice is the most powerful instrument in Masterplan, and Jorn is singing at the top of his game. I find myself hitting repeat on this CD often, and the songs that I didn’t immediately gravitate to have grown on me quite a bit. I don’t believe Time To Be King is as strong as Masterplan’s debut, but it is a very solid album, and a must own disc for all Masterplan and Jorn Lande fans.

Roadrunner Records are delighted to announce the signing of boisterous Welsh metal quartet REVOKER. Hailing from the depths of Wales’ Rhymney Valley, the band will soon start work on their debut album with Skindred’s Benji Webbe for an early 2011 release.
For a vote of confidence in the band’s bright future, look no further than Monte Conner, Roadrunner’s Senior VP A&R. Conner enthuses, “Revoker are one of the most ass-kicking unsigned bands I have heard in a long time and I am beyond proud to welcome them to the Roadrunner family. Believe it or not, in my entire career at Roadrunner, they are the first UK band I have signed.”
Although Revoker officially formed in Spring 2006, frontman/guitarist Jamie Mathias and guitarist Chris Green have been playing in bands together since they became teenagers. The band’s engaging 19-year old mouthpiece Mathias comments, “Getting signed to Roadrunner is amazing and almost surreal. I’ve grown up listening to bands like Megadeth, Slipknot and Machine Head. So to be a part of the same label as them is nuts! I think Roadrunner is the perfect home for Revoker!”
Green echoes his thoughts: “It’s mind-blowing! If I could have picked any label then this would be it. I think this is the perfect label for us to be joining with. It’s amazing to be part of such a mammoth roster with bands we’ve looked up to for years ourselves.”
“If there’s one label any metal band dream of signing to, it’s Roadrunner!” said bassist Shane Phillips . The group is rounded out by Jack Pritchard on the drums.
With the UK’s Hammerfest and Download Festival already under their belt, not to mention praise-inducing support slots with Skindred and Soulfly, expect to see a lot more of these formidable youngsters as they take on the world!
Says Skindred’s Benji, “It was not just the music that drew me to Revoker – although they blew me away – it was their attitude of ‘we got it and we’re going to give it to you like it or not.’ From watching them live for the very first time and then going on to help them sculpt their songs, I knew it would only take a push in the right direction to make them explode from their sleepy Welsh hamlet onto the worldwide metal stage – and now with the help of Roadrunner they’re about to do just that.”

If you have been keeping up with the latest Stryper news, you probably already know about the band’s up and coming album, The Covering, which will feature Stryper covering some classic metal and hard rock that influenced their career. Stryper front man Michael Sweet revealed via Twitter a link on Stryper’s site with audio samples from six of the albums 13 tracks.
Quite honestly, I don’t typically care for covers albums, but judging from the samples below, this one looks to have some potential. Check out the audio samples below.
Rock Sugar’s “Don’t Stop The Sandman” might just be the most creative cover song of all time. Check it out in the video below!
