Heavy metal guitar enthusiasts rejoice! The world will soon be able to experience the stunning new album from guitar legend and classical metal master Yngwie Malmsteen. Relentless will hit streets on November 23 via Malmsteen’s own Rising Force Records. The CD contains more than 60 minutes of brand new material and showcases the guitar great at his best with the signature virtuosity and mind-blowing technical speed for which he has come to be known. “Relentless” also features striking vocals from Tim “Ripper” Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), who first collaborated with Malmsteen on 2008’s critically-acclaimed “Perpetual Flame” (Malmsteen’s first album for the Rising Force Records label).
Of the new album, Malmsteen commented, “The album title really says it all. The drive to surpass my own accomplishments can best be described with one word — relentless. After all these years of composing and playing music, I still am passionate about pushing myself to the limit — to the highest, most demanding level of playing possible.”

For nearly three decades, Grammy-nominated Swedish guitar icon Yngwie Malmsteen has been amazing audiences with dazzling technical speed and ability. Malmsteen’s signature style of playing, which combines elements of seemingly disparate styles of music — metal and classical, spawned the now commonplace genres of heavy metal known as “shred guitar” and “neo classical” and earned Malmsteen the title “the Paganini of heavy metal.” Malmsteen was the first guitarist to have his own Fender signature guitar model (even before Eric Clapton). He has graced the cover of more than 200 magazines worldwide, has won every guitar award imaginable and to date, has sold millions of records. Time recently named Malmsteen one of the “Top Ten Greatest Electric Guitar Players,” an honor he shared with the likes of Les Paul, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. “Guitar Hero” enthusiasts know they have arrived when they are bestowed with the Yngwie Malmsteen award in the Xbox 360 version of “Guitar Hero 2”. The award signifies a 1000-plus-note streak in succession.Malmsteen released the “Raw Live” DVD on June 29. According to a press release, the set “provides an unprecedented and unique look at the rise of a guitar god. Spanning from 1981 through 1999 and encompassing extremely rare footage of Yngwie’s early years in Sweden, this video displays the infancy of Yngwie’s prodigious skills well prior to his first worldwide album and travels through Yngwie’s masterful career, including his masterful performances from his first solo albums, ‘Rising Force’, ‘Marching Out’, and ‘Trilogy’. Also included in this unique video are never-released behind-the-scenes footage of Yngwie and newly shot personal touches of Yngwie which open up the viewer to a side of the guitar maestro which is rarely seen by the public.”
The Public Commeration Ceremony for Steve Lee will be Sunday October 17th at 10 A.M. on the Gotthard Pass At the Hospice. The Eulogy will be held by two Capuchin Monks (German/Italian) at 1 P.M.
Official statement of the surviving bike-group members:
On the afternoon of October 5th 2010 our group, consisting of 22 male and female bikers on 12 Harley Davidsons, was on its way from Las Vegas to St. George, Utah, in bright weather.
About 15 miles from Mesquite, a severe thunderstorm began. One of the bikes started to have some technical problems with its ignition, so we stopped on the breakdown lane and switched on our warning lights. The last guy in the group was reminding us to be very careful with the traffic passing by, so we paid attention. At the same time it started to rain more heavily, so the group decided to put on rain gear.
A truck was speeding towards the group. For some inexplicable reason, the very heavy truck crashed into several of our bikes. The impact was so severe that one of the bikes was thrown into the air, hit Steve and crushed him to the ground. The group immediately secured the accident area and started to give him first aid.
At the same time we dialled the emergency number 911 and after a few minutes the first police car arrived. The patrolman had brought a defibrillator and, with our help, he immediately started to apply it. In the meantime, in the pouring rain, we all started working together to try to save Steve’s life. A couple of minutes later, a second police car arrived and brought a complete set of first aid equipment. A helicopter also arrived. During all that time resuscitation attempts were maintained. After long minutes of trying, the doctor had to confirm that Steve was dead.
Miraculously, no other person in the group was injured. We are all aware that it could have been any one of us – and it could have even been the whole group.
Together with the local police, our tour guides organised the transport for us all to a nearby hotel in Mesquite. The hotel offered us a quiet room in which we could mourn, talk to each other and cry together.
We all agree that the tour guides prepared and handled our trip very professionally. Our group still trusts the guides 100%.
Steve’s loss is an incredible tragedy for all of us. Together we are trying to get over all the grieving and the pain and to be there for each other. It is a very hard time for all of us.
Steve Lee’s lifelong dream to drive just once through the USA, on a Harley, should have come true during these two weeks. After we started our trip in Los Angeles, we passed Death Valley and Las Vegas. Our next stop would have been St. George in Utah, from where we had planned to head for Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley. This was to have been the place where Steve planned to surprise Brigitte with some very special Indian jewellery. To show her Las Vegas and to enjoy together the special atmosphere there was one of his greatest wishes for the trip.
“One thing is for sure”, Brigitte says, “I have never seen Steve as happy as during these last days.” She is utterly devastated, but is finding comfort within the group now. We will be forever connected after this tragedy.
Tragic City Symphony is the 5th album from Alabama rockers Lynam. I can’t believe that I have had Lynam’s Tragic City Symphony for a couple of years now, and haven’t given it a proper review. I recall the CD being fairly hard to find when I first picked it up. Since then, it has been re-released in 2009 via Mascot/Megaforce Records, and is now available in most retail outlets.
To me Lynam’s sound has always been a mix of classic & modern rock. On Tragic City Symphony the band leans even more to the modern rock side. The band has always been able to craft some pretty catchy rockers, and they have done so again on Tragic City Symphony.
Tragic City Symphony starts off the album with a catchy rocker “Is This A Heartbreak or A Loaded Gun”. The background vocals on this song kind of give the song a modernized Def Leppard like feel to it.
Tom Keifer plays the slide guitar on “Enemy”, and the guys from Hinder adds in some gang vocals. Nothing against Hinder, but I would have rather had Keifer add in some vocals on this song. “Enemy” is one of the best songs on the CD.
“Lindsay Says” is a modern rock tune that seems to be tailor-made for FM radio. To me, the song is just on the average song. It just doesn’t stick with me.
Lynam slows it down somewhat for the song “Just Say Anything”. Much like “Lindsay Says”, this song isn’t very memorable. I am not saying it is a bad tune, it just isn’t for me.
“Save My Soul” is a little heavier than the previous two songs, and in my opinion is one of the better tunes on Tragic City Symphony.
Before My Darkest Days had “Pornstar Dancing”, Lynam had “Pornstar”. Both songs are pretty catchy, and I like Lynam’s “Pornstar” a lot. I can see why Lynam has had some moderate success with this song. It is a very catchy tune.
Jacob Lynam plays some heavier riffs on “Can’t Do Anything”. This might not have the hooks of Lynam’s other songs, but I like it anyway.
“Make It Alright” does a pretty good breaking up the pace between the rather mundane “If You Leave”, and “White Trash Superstar”.
There are parts of “White Trash Superstar” that almost has a new country feel to it. Luckily some heavier guitars kick in some parts of the song. I don’t know if this was Lynam’s attempt at a Southern Rock Song, but It wasn’t one of my favorites on the CD.
Overall, I have enjoyed Lynam’s Tragic City Symphony. If you have enjoyed the recent releases from Bad City & My Darkest Days, you will probably enjoy Lynam’s Tragic City Symphony as well.

Queensrÿche has partnered with Capitol/EMI for the November 9 release of an expanded 20th Anniversary Edition of the band’s triple platinum-certified breakout album, Empire. The new 2-CD and digital packages both include the remastered album, featuring six hit singles, including the #1 smash “Silent Lucidity,” as well as 13 bonus tracks, among them 10 previously unreleased live performances recorded in 1990 at London’s Hammersmith Odeon. The 2-CD package is presented in a lift-top box with five postcards, a fold-out poster and a booklet featuring photos from the band’s personal archive.
After building a devoted fan base with album and EP releases throughout the 1980s, including 1988’s critically acclaimed Operation: Mindcrime, Queensrÿche broke into the mainstream across North America and abroad with the 1990 release of Empire. In the U.S., the album peaked at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and its hit ballad “Silent Lucidity” quickly became a heavy rotation staple at rock radio and on MTV, topping Billboard’s Modern Rock singles chart and earning Queensrÿche the coveted MTV Viewers Choice Award for the song’s music video. Empire also made the U.K.’s Top 10, and the album’s international success led to Queensrÿche’s 18-month headlining “Building Empires” world tour, the band’s longest trek to date.
Empire also features the Billboard Top 10 Modern Rock hits “Jet City Woman” and “Another Rainy Night,” the Top 20 single, “Anybody Listening?,” and the Top 30 singles “Best I Can” and Empire.” In addition to the aforementioned live recordings, Empire (20th Anniversary Edition)’s bonus tracks include “Last Time in Paris” from the Ford Forlaine soundtrack, “Dirty Lil’ Secret,” and the band’s cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Scarborough Fair.”

Directed by Brendon Small, the co-creator of Adult Swim’s “Metalocalypse” “Black Rain” is the first artist-driven music video to be based off of the show. Soundgarden members – Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Sheperd – are transformed into avatar-robot controllers as they patrol the streets of a post-apocalyptic Seattle defeating evil. The video builds up to an epic phosphorescent robot battle in space. “I’m a gigantic Soundgarden fan and it was so much fun bringing them into our warped Metalocalypse world,” said Small about making the video. “Black Rain” is the hit single from the new Soundgarden album, “Telephantasm,” and available on iTunes now!

For nearly 30 years, Slayer has been the single most distinctive and radical thrash metal band anywhere. Slash To Open All Dates Of The Second Leg Of The Arena Tour Which Will Include Two Intimate Performances: Los Angeles, CA (Gibson Amphitheatre) and Phoenix Arizona (Dodge Theatre)
Ozzy to Kick Off First Leg of His Headlining North American Tour November 12, With Halford Set To Open
OZZY OSBOURNE–who will kick off his fall North American arena tour November 12 in Victoria, B.C–has now announced a second leg of U.S. dates which will get underway January 16, 2011 in Omaha, NE. The six-week 2011 trek, part of the multi-platinum Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s in-progress 18-month world tour, will include a pair of intimate shows: January 26 at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix and Feb 1 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. OZZY’s longtime friend and musical collaborator Slash will open all the concerts on the second leg. Tickets for the Live Nation-produced tour go on sale beginning Friday, October 15. For the most up-to-date on sale information, please visit Ozzy.com or LiveNation.com.
OSBOURNE recently completed a run of overseas festival appearances and headlining overseas performances including his first-ever concert in Israel: a September 28 OZZFest show at Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv.
The Tel Aviv show was described by the www.ynet.co.il as “one of the most important rock events in Israel, if not THE most important…There is no one that can contest Ozzy Osbourne’s charisma and madness. Park Hayarkon was awash with energies and foam at the main performance of the Ozzfest…” Elsewhere www.mako.co.il noted: “We have waited for years and finally it happened–Ozzfest arrived to the holy land. And as much as the anticipation was high–it shrinks in comparison to the real thing that happened on stage. Ozzy Osbourne lifted Tel Aviv with a crazy show. Osbourne managed to lift people up as only he can do. With simplicity and (relative) modesty, the prince of darkness gave his heart and soul with big love to the Israeli crowd and managed to jump and touch every single one of the tens of thousands of fans present.” The www.mouse.co.il added, “The crowd was versatile and colorful, the other bands on the bill were great, but the real star of Ozzfest was, undoubtedly, Ozzy Osbourne. The metal legend last night at Hayarkon Park gave a show worth living for.”
Later this week, OZZY will perform shows in Japan (October 16 in Kobe and October 17 in Tokyo) before returning to the U.S. to headline the Voodoo Experience festival Halloween weekend in New Orleans, LA; he will rock the three-day event at City Park City Saturday, October 30. OZZY will then launch his first leg of solo dates which includes a December 1 show at Madison Square Garden in New York and wraps December 12 at the Target Center in Minneapolis. HALFORD, featuring legendary Judas Priest front man, Rob Halford, will perform on the 2010 dates.
The fall dates will coincide with the October 5 release of an expanded two-CD version of the SCREAM album. This “Tour Edition” package will feature seven bonus songs: a mix of previously unreleased tracks and live recordings. Epic Records has also issued a four-sided vinyl edition that includes five bonus tracks: the three aforementioned songs from the SCREAM sessions and the live version of “Let Me Hear You Scream,” along with the single version of “Life Won’t Wait” (the second single from SCREAM).

Saving Abel recently teamed up with Yahoo! for the site’s signature “Maximum Performance” program. In this very special exclusive performance Saving Abel provided at sea entertainment for more than 2,000 sailors who were returning home after a three-month deployment on the USS Carl Vinson. The band rocked live renditions of “Drowning (Face Down),” “New Tattoo,” and “Hell of a Ride” for the sailors during the concert. The performance for the troops was another for the band to draw inspiration from, as they did from their last USO tour through Kuwait and Iraq, which ultimately inspired the title of their new album, Miss America. “Just being out there with those men and women who do so much for us and the country we live in, we really wanted to give them something back,” said the band’s singer Jared Weeks.

Contacted at a recent midget-juggling festival, held at an undisclosed (and completely fictitious) location, GWAR lead singer Oderus Urungus screamed what sounded like “Bllllaaauuggh”, before launching himself into a nearby Jagermeister display. Later, when fully conscious, the warty one sounded off about the Internet, inter-species dating, and golf, all in complete gibberish.
When he finally gave us a workable quote, it sounded something like this–
“People don’t understand how much money we are contractually obligated to waste everyday. That money has got to come from somewhere so we grind it out of our fans. Now if you are telling me that there is a way to do that without ever having to leave the city of Milwaukee? This Interwebnet fascinates me no end!”
In other GWAR news, the band has announced that they will be performing for the first time on network television on October 28th, when they take to the stage on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”. The shows airs 12:35 Eastern and the band will be tearing through their new single “Zombies, March!”

At the risk of sounding like a giddy tween school girl having her first eargasm listening to a favorite boy band, American Bang’s self titled debut album is nothing short of phenomenal. I just want to jump up and down on my bed and scream my head off whenever I play this record. Not since Black Stone Cherry’s debut disc have I been this excited by listening to a rock album.
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, American Bang is the perfect blend of southern rock, country, and hard modern rock. Their unique sound and style is what sets them apart from the other bands out there today. American Bang does not try to imitate anyone, instead they present themselves. That tactic has worked, because their self titled debut album is proof of what a fantastic group they are.
Lead singer Jaren Johnson’s voice is the standout component of American Bang. Johnson has a rock and roll throat with a southern twang that creates melodic, mesmerizing vocals. His talent behind the microphone is amazing and his ability really stands out on songs like “Wild And Young” and “I Wouldn’t Want To Be You”. Johnson’s unique vocal style helps to separate American Bang from the plethora of carbon copied new bands out there.
The praise of Johnson’s voice is not meant to undermine the ability of the rest of the band. Ben Brown’s lead guitar chops are superb, and the rhythm section of Kelby Ray (bass) and Neil Mason (drums) round out the group perfectly. This is a band that makes magic together and that magic is evident on their self titled debut.
“Wild And Young” is one of the best songs on the record and rightfully so. A terrific song about youth, enjoying the best years of your life and living for the moment, “Wild And Young” is a song that just makes the listener happy. Even if you’re crotchety and old, you will find the lyrics emulating from your mouth after a couple of listens. “Wild And Young” is a blazing song.
“Angels” kicks off with nice acoustic plucking and Johnson’s high twanged voice telling us a story. By the time the bridge has completed, we are in love with this song. It has a soft, sweet feel to it that captivates the senses. Angels will be a big radio hit, once American Bang decides they want to release it.
“She Don’t Cry No More” follows and hits a little harder, as this song is a more of a rocker than its predecessor. Fast guitar and a quick drum beat highlight this song as the rocking good time that it is. Bound to put a bounce in your step, “She Don’t Cry No More” is a blazing good time song.
“Wouldn’t Want To Be You” slows things down again, but not in a ballad way. This song has more of a bounce to it. An excellent groove kicks off the song and carries throughout. The bounce and twang lead into the chorus where the rhythm lifts to a slightly faster level, before settling down to the steady pace of the verse. Reminiscent of early Black Crowes, “Wouldn’t Want To Be You” is southern rock done right.
Overall, American Bang is a stellar debut album by a magnificent band. I see great things in the future for American Bang. They should be around for a while, rocking the masses. Be smart and get in on the greatness early by picking up a copy of their self-titled debut album.

This is ANGRA’S first new album in four years, following up their 2006 release “Aurora Consurgens” The album will be available in three formats: a standard jewel case edition, a double LP edition that includes 3 bonus tracks, and it will be available as a digital download.
ANGRA guitarist Rafael Bittencourt recently spoke about the concept and recording of “AQUA”:
We wanted a title that would describe in a very concise way, that concept. “Aqua” is the Latin word for water and summarizes the whole idea behind the Shakespearean play and our feelings at this remarkable moment.
Although this album sounds very different then our previous album “Aurora Consurgens“, there are not many musical differences between “AQUA” and our last three albums. We tried to keep the idea of combining metal with progressive, classic, Brazilian, ethnic, pop and many other styles. The big difference is that this time we were really hit by inspiration. So we wrote almost thirty good songs, and we ended up picking the best ten out of the big list. All the atmosphere of companionship and teamwork was captured in the tracks. We really helped each other on every detail and that’s what made the songs so powerful and special.
Another important difference is that the drummer Ricardo Confessori is back in the band. This was only possible because, after the recording sessions of the Bittencourt Project’s Brainworms where he performed on a couple of tracks. Since then, we have regained our trust and friendship. We had a few rehearsals with ANGRA where he jammed around songs from the old and new era of the band. Also, we presented some new ideas for him to arrange and he showed that he had kept his creativity and graceful musicianship. We had good laughs remembering things we’ve done together in the past and how the Brazilian-mixed kind grooves were a very significant quality of our pre-Rebirth Era.
So, “AQUA” represents where we are now. And we hope that it will be remembered as one of our great classic albums, because it was done with great passion, focus and dedication. We expect that every detail of these carefully crafted new songs may help you out through your own times of change. So, get prepared to dive deep into an ocean of new sensations and float away with the various liquid atmospheres that keep changing as you listen through and it will always keep changing as you listen to it more times. Welcome to the revolving waters of “AQUA!”

THE ULTIMATE ILLUSTRATED HISTORY
By Phil Sutcliffe
FIRST COMPLETE ‘ILLUSTRATED RETROSPECTIVE’ BOOK ON ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR BANDS IN ROCK HISTORY, CELEBRATES 4 DECADES IN WORDS AND PHOTOS
Voyageur Press has joined forces with renowned rock journalist Phil Sutcliffe for the brand new book, AC/DC – HIGH-VOLTAGE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL: The Ultimate Illustrated History. This lovingly assembled tome — the first complete illustrated history published about this legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee — arrives October 15th, 2010 to celebrate four decades of simply ass-kicking rock n’ roll, perfectly mixing expertly researched text and many never-before-seen photos. This heavy duty 224-page volume follows AC/DC’s long-and-winding career, from the early days as a bar band in Australia, through the tragic passing of singer Bon Scott, and of course, their massive comeback success with one of rock’s all-time classic (and best-selling) albums, Back in Black.
AC/DC is currently comprised of Brian Johnson (vocals), Angus Young (lead guitar), Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar), Cliff Williams (bass), and Phil Rudd (drums). Formed in Australia during the early 1970s, the group — then lead by hard-living frontman Bon Scott — became a regional sensation with a brand of tough, bluesy hard rock, that soon translated globally, on the strength of such classics as “T.N.T.,” “Dirty Deeds,” “Whole Lotta Rosie,” “Sin City,” and “Highway to Hell.” But on the eve of becoming a worldwide arena headliner, Scott died in 1980 after a hard night of drinking. Replaced by Johnson, the group issued Back in Black just a few months later, and has been rightfully considered one of rock’s all-time great recording and live acts.
Featuring over 400 illustrations (including handbills, posters, backstage passes, and vinyl from around the globe, as well as rare candid and performance photography), and a special “spinner” cover image of Angus Young, AC/DC – HIGH-VOLTAGE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL: The Ultimate Illustrated History is sure to appeal to both the longtime fan and the newcomer. Sidebars by rock’s finest journalists weighing in on various eras of the AC/DC are included throughout the book, as well as an album-by-album analysis, and info on the guitar gear championed by the Young brothers. While many AC/DC fans have heard and experienced the group live on stage numerous times over the years, there has simply never been a book which has chronicled the group’s entire history as vividly as AC/DC – HIGH-VOLTAGE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL: The Ultimate Illustrated History.
In addition to the AC/DC book, Voyageur Press will be issuing another major rock title this fall, Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot’s THE BEATLES VS. THE ROLLING STONES: Sound Opinions on the Great Rock n’ Roll Rivalry. These titles join Voyageur Press’ other most recent “Illustrated History” releases, Dan Durchholz’s and Gary Graff’s NEIL YOUNG: Long May You Run,Jon Bream’s NEIL DIAMOND IS FOREVER: The Illustrated Story of the Man and His Music , Phil Sutcliffe’s QUEEN: The Crown Kings of Rock, and Jim DeRogatis’ THE VELVET UNDERGROUND: An Illustrated History of A Walk on the Wild Side. All are jam-packed with photos, artifacts, and comprehensive histories of each artist.

Mike Tramp and his Rock’n’Roll Circuz band have created a beautiful tribute of epic proportion, to the late Ronnie James Dio. The song, clocking in at almost 9 minutes long, takes you through a magical journey of RJD’s life, and you will be left breathless at the end. The track is available exclusively through the Eddie Trunk website at this link.
Riotgod is a new band formed by Monster Magnet’s Bob Pantella & Jim Baglino. I have enjoyed quite a few of Monster Magnet’s tunes over the year, so I must say that I was curious to see what Riotgod had to offer.
Riotgod’s debut is an excellent piece of revival rock that taps into the classic sounds of Led Zeppelin, & the heavy rock of Soundgarden. It seems like it would be an odd mix of sounds but Riotgod makes it work. There aren’t any bands on the scene today that sound like Riotgod, and that is a cool thing indeed.
Bob Pantell & Jim Baglino found one talented singer in Mark Sunshine. To my ears, Mark Sunshine is a great find. He is a very versatile singer who can sing and scream with the best of them. Together with guitarist Garrett Sweeny, Riotgod has crafted some hard driving tunes that have really taken me by surprise.
I expected this band to be nothing more than a side project for Pantella & Baglino, and what I found is a band that could be New Jersey’s finest hard rock export since Skid Row.
If you want to hear an outstanding hard rock band with some refreshingly different tunes, give Riotgod a chance. I think you will like them!

Melodic Rock Records new signees Fenrik Lane have released a new video “Russian Roulette”. “Russian Roulette” is a cover of the 2009 Rihanna tune. I think the Fenrik Lane version is a major improvement. Check it out!
It was probably a good thing for Tony Newton, that rather than inheriting his dad’s banjo skills, he instead got his hands on a bass guitar after one of his father’s betting shop clients offered Newton Senior the instrument when he couldn’t afford to settle his bill in cash. The resolution of the wager set young Tony on the path that would eventually lead him to find Rock N Roll redemption as the bassist and head honcho of one of the UK’s most exciting hard rock bands – Voodoo Six.
The band’s first album – ”First Hit For Free” – was released on Universal Music in Japan in 2007 and in the UK/Europe on White Knuckle/Locomotive Records in March 2008 with a new song ‘Faith’ added and a brand new re-mix by uber studio engineer Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc).
Following the album’s release, the band toured extensively in the UK in support of their first album, gaining new friends and fans everywhere they played. Summer slots at the Download Festival and Bloodstock Festival followed these dates. Then a full 6-week headline tour of the UK in September 2009 ensued before the band travelled on to Europe where they were the opening act for re-formed Boston rockers Extreme in October/November 2008.
2009 saw the band playing at the HammerFest Festival in March and followed soon after by a sold out performance at the Scala in London for their homecoming end of tour gig after a hectic twelve months of almost non-stop touring. In April 2009 vocalist Luke Purdie replaced Henry Rundell. Hailing from a blues/rock background, Luke had been playing guitar and singing since he was 10 years old and toured the world in his parents’ band when he was 15.
His distinct vocals and remarkable voice fit perfectly with the Voodoo Six sound bringing rockier and raunchier vocals to the lyrics. Very soon the new line-up were writing and recording a follow up second album.
“Fluke?” was written and recorded over the summer of 2009 and mixed once again by Mike Fraser taking time out between sessions with AC/DC.
All the tracks were produced and engineered by Tony Newton. A digital EP was released in March 2010 – ‘A Little Something For You’. To tie in with this Voodoo Six played their first live shows with the new line up, in London and Southampton – both sold out. On the strength of this – and with the support of Planet Rock radio – Voodoo Six were then asked to be special guests on The Union (Luke Morley) UK tour and UFO on their UK & European tour in March/April.
Voodoo Six’s new album “Fluke?” will be released October 18th.

“I am sickened and disgusted by the use of ‘Crazy Train’ to promote messages of hate and evil by a ‘church,’” singer OZZY OSBOURNE said in response to news that Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church used lyrics from his song at events surrounding Tuesday’s (10/6/10) Snyder v. Phelps Supreme Court hearing. An attorney–a daughter of the church’s founder, along with her sister–paraphrased lyrics from OSBOURNE’s “Crazy Train” at a post-Supreme Court hearing press conference in Washington D.C.
The church is described by the Wall Street Journal (10/6/10) as a “tiny Kansas church…[that]…preaches that U.S. deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq are punishment for American’s tolerance of homosexuality and abortion.” As the Examiner.com noted (10/6/10) of the church, “their flamboyant demonstrations at the funerals of non-gay service members, using the events to highlight their belief that military deaths overseas are justified punishment for U-S tolerance of homosexuality. (‘You’re Going to Hell,’ ‘Thank God for Dead Soldiers,’ and ‘God Hates You’ are popular Westboro slogans.).”

Kick ass rock and roll!! What more can I say about the debut from Tallahassee, Florida rockers Dirty Skirty? Dirty Skirty’s debut album Long Live Rock N’ Roll sounds like a rockin’ mix of AC/DC & Buckcherry with the swagger of Aerosmith. Don’t confuse Dirty Skirty as another AC/DC clone though. They are much better than that.
Singer Luke Stephens often sounds like he could be stand in for Josh Todd, and appears to be a better song writer than the Buckcherry front man. His vocals are great all throughout Long Live Rock N’ Roll, and the songs are so catchy that I bet you will be singing along with most of the songs after the second spin of the CD. Jeff Allen completely nailed the hard rock sound that I love with his heavy guitar riffs.
Long Live Rock N’ Roll blasts off with the rocker “Ride” and doesn’t look back. Dirty Skirty has managed to dish out an all killer, no filler CD with tunes you will be proud to crank up!

Skin were formed in the early 1990s by ex-Jagged Edge members Myke Gray and Andy Robbins (also formerly of Tokyo Blade & Shogun) along with former Kooga vocalist Neville MacDonald and drummer Dicki Fliszar, formerly from Bruce Dickinson’s touring band and band Vamp. Originally called Taste, they went through a number of names (Obsession,
Bad For Good, Phoenix) as they played a smattering of small club dates throughout 1992. The band showed enough quality on these dates to be offered a management deal with Sanctuary Management, who also handled Iron Maiden and, ultimately, a record deal with Parlophone. Through Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, the band came to the attention of noted American producer Keith Olsen who offered to produce their debut at his ‘Goodnight LA’ Studio. During 1993, the band flew to LA and began recording. Once the
sessions were finished, the band listened to the finished product and decided more was needed so another three songs were recorded with Shay Baby producing.
Another single from the album, Tower of Strength which was backed with live material from their Donnington Monsters of Rock appearance, also broke into the top 20 and reached no 19.
