White Flame has released a new internet single & video, “Payback”. The video was directed by White Flame’s frontman Vince, who as of late has been doing quite a bit of film making. He is pleased with the outcome of this newest video for “Payback”. “It has a very gritty feel to it. The song is all about Karma and how in the end you can’t escape what’s due. And that quite a hardboiled message. We wanted to bring out the grittyness in the tune and I totally feel we nailed it!”

NEW ALBUM IN STORES TODAY ON METAL BLADE RECORDS
GWAR‘s remorseless 25th Anniversary rolls towards it’s bitter conclusion as perhaps it’s most significant milestone is reached–the release of the band’s self-proclaimed “heaviest yet” album, GWAR‘s “Bloody Pit of Horror”, out today on Metal Blade records. After a full on media onslaught for the past four months, and now in the midst of a three-month tour, your Lords and Masters are finally allowing us to experience “The Bloody Pit of Horror” in its full form.
“This album is the follow-up to last years “Lust in Space”, and the capper of our 25th Anniversary Slay-a-Bration…which I am pretty sure everybody is sick of hearing about,” said GWAR lead singer and still FOX correspondent, Oderus Urungus. “This record is a throwback to an age when bands actually gave a shit about their fans and released albums pretty much once a year. When a “new album” was actually a series of original compositions instead of a bunch of regurgitated re-mixes. And the title, though stolen, is an homage to a time when horror films were made with style and care, not driven by corporation whoredom and CG trickery. It is a hateful attack upon all things alive. It is the new GWAR album.”
“Finally the day has come…and we shall see if the human slaves of GWAR are truly worthy of that title. For this is much more than a mere album, this is a chance for the human race to break the bloody chains of bondage and join their masters, GWAR, in our quest to subject the entire universe to complete degradation. Our new album has finally been let loose upon the world and all you have to do to join our zombie army is buy the record, get your ass to a GWAR show, and join us in the “Bloody Pit of Horror”!
Want to listen to “Bloody Pit of Horror” first and then go buy it? Want to listen the record online after you bought it already? Go to http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/ and listen to a streaming version of the album as part of AOL Music’s Full Album Listening Party.

Fangoria.com premiered the brand new video from Intergalactic Shock Rockers GWAR. The video is for the song “Zombies, March!” which comes off of GWAR‘s new album “Bloody Pit of Horror” which is slated for a November 9th release on Metal Blade Records. The video was shot on location at The National in Richmond, VA by acclaimed Fangoria Director Dave McKendry. Check out the video at FANGORIA.com
GWAR‘s latest masterpiece “Bloody Pit of Horror” is in stores on now and you can also purchase it on the official GWAR page on the Metal Blade Records website at: http://www.metalblade.com/gwar. The landing page includes all current tour dates, GWAR footage from BOTH Gwar.tv and MetalBlade.tv, and pre-orders for “Bloody Pit of Horror” on CD, a GWAR t-shirt, or the ultimate “Bloody Pit” package that includes the CD, the GWAR t-shirt, and a 12×12 autographed cover print! AVENGED SEVENFOLD “Nightmare” – The Crown Jewel Of A7X
It has been a little over two months since the July 27th, 2010 release of “Nightmare” from Avenged Sevenfold. This has been more than enough time for me to listen to their fifth studio album and come to this realization… “Nightmare” is profoundly bigger and more badass than any critics out there ever expected. To listen to this new A7X album and walk away unimpressed tells me only one thing… your oozing with quality Metal envy. The #1 album chart status and sales figures alone for “Nightmare” are telling of the popularity and quality that A7X carries with their brand of Heavy Rock.
The lead single of “Nightmare” alone is as fine an example of the musical maturation that A7X has reached, in factually just a decade. With shades of Metallica influence combined within their own Metal prowess, A7X can very well know they have made the song of their lives. Just when you think “Nightmare” is going to subside, it doesn’t. This song is uncannily relentless with its psyche-you-out continuity. I can’t help but think to myself… this “Nightmare” song will make Metallica wish it was theirs. I state this as a compliment to both bands, I’m opposed to stirring up controversy. Sometimes.
Anyone still unfamiliar with this “Nightmare” album should consider themselves either a rain forest hermit or walking in their sleep while still having functioning body parts. To pick apart this album would be rather easy… if you never listened to it. That sadly, has been the morbid case in situations that are few and far between. “Nightmare” is so much more than the lead single. As is always the case with A7X, this is a total album of songs. As diverse as it is dynamic, “Nightmare” flourishes with its originality from song to song, with not a micro hint of cut and paste with this extraordinary group of musicians.
If “Danger Line” doesn’t bring your eyes to some semblance of tears, then obviously the lyrics go right over your head. “Danger Line” incorporates whistling and a piano for extra emotional affect, evaporating the immature mentality out there that A7X is NOT a screaming Metalcore band for teenage boys only. Take that, all of you liberal and over compensated mainstream Rock Music critics. “Buried Alive” relies on its melodic heaviness to carry out it’s more than memorable song structure. This is a song that plays out in two parts, one part heavy ballad and second part melt your eardrums into Heavy Metal delirium.
“So Far Away” further removes the unsubstantiated stereotype and misgivings that A7X at times have to duck away from. This song is remarkable in both its musicianship and lyrics. “So Far Away” is the bridge between A7X the Metal Band and A7X the diverse and skillful musicians that they glowingly are. “Tonight The World Dies” tantalizes with a Classic Rock sensibility that marries into the emotionally driven darkness that is this “Nightmare” album. M. Shadows vocally switches from crooning to power bellows with flawless and inherent confidence.
“God Hates Us” is undisputedly the heaviest track on “Nightmare”, exposing the full throttle and extreme side that A7X can credibly unleash through song. If “Nightmare” was built around the sound and fury of “God Hates Us”, A7X would be just another Metal Band that made a “decent” album. This song is grand and mighty in every musical aspect, only A7X doesn’t need to rely on this high level of heaviness to be as great as they are. It is songs like “Victim” that enriches this “Nightmare” album into its “necessity to own” status. A heavy ballad is “Victim” and it does not resemble anything you have ever heard in a “heavy ballad” before. This is as modernistic and emblematic of what a heavy ballad should sound like… and A7X created it.
M. Shadows sings his heart out on this entire album, with the purest and most legitimate emotion spilling over each and every syllable. Yes, hearing Dream Theater founder and former drummer Mike Portnoy on drums is evident and incredible all the same. Mike Portnoy only escalates the totality of power and drive with his rhythmic essence and elegance within these songs heard on “Nightmare”. Synyster Gates on lead guitar and Zacky Vengeance on rhythm guitar compliment one another to the point where they are a guitar brotherhood. Listening to both play together on “Nightmare” is seamless in their unison. Johnny Christ on bass is heard very clearly, playing alongside Mike Portnoy with rhythmic precision, to my ears anyways.
“Save Me” is the epic song on “Nightmare”, coming in a few seconds short of eleven minutes. If Synyster Gates intentionally wanted his guitar to sound as if it were singing, he succeeded here. This song is not going to be a dreaded epic listen, for those of you who have not heard it just yet. A7X took great care into considering song structure for “Save Me”, it plays out as a short story with ample guitar parts that focus on melody and harmony, rather than raw power leads. With a ballad formula that compensates by its overall hardness, “Save Me” never loses my attention for a second. The speed kicks in at the midway point, with multiple guitar solo’s that brandish speed, while never compromising this song’s melodic intent.
Jimmy “The Reverend” Sullivan sings on “Fiction” and is credited with the drum arrangements as well. Hearing “The Rev” sing these lyrics on “Fiction” is chilling and leaves an emotional impression on me. Not to sound cliche, yet, “The Rev” was a one of a kind drummer. A7X will never be the same band without “The Rev”, his untimely and tragic passing only reminds me to never take for granted great musicians who have brought joy to my Metal loving life… and to not take life for granted either.
“Lost It All” is the non-album track that is available on itunes as a deluxe version bonus track. This song’s dark theme and heaviness fits right into the “Nightmare” scheme of things, showcasing just how brilliant sounding A7X is, when they combine present day “hardness” with their already patented “heaviness”.
I liken “Nightmare” to be Avenged Sevenfold’s “Back In Black” album, possibly their “Black Album” of their career. It surely comes across this way to my ears and senses. A7X took a dark approach lyrically and delicately weaved some heavy emotion into an album of songs that is fittingly titled “Nightmare”. Not one song sounds forced or contrived “at the last minute” of recording. This is an album to embrace for not just its skillful musicians, this album must be embraced for its end product being the totality of “real” songs. There is nothing pre-packaged here, this is “Nightmare” and A7X can stand tall and proud in “my” Metal world.

Frontiers Records is excited to announce that Derek Shulman and 2Plus Music Entertainment has agreed to oversee the label development and marketing over the North American market.
After an internationally acknowledged career as singer for the Progressive Music band Gentle Giant, Derek Shulman became involved in the recording business in the early 80’s. Starting as an A&R representative at PolyGram Records, where he rose to the ranks of Senior Vice President, he signed Bon Jovi, Dan Reed Network, Cinderella, and Kingdom Come, among many others. In 1988 he became President and C.E.O of Atco Records (where he signed the progressive metal band Dream Theater, as well as Pantera). He also re-established the careers of AC/DC and Bad Company, both of whom sold multi-platinum albums under his watch. He then went on to become President of Roadrunner Records overseeing signings like Slipknot and Nickelback.
2PLUS directors, internationally renowned music impresario Leonardo Pavkovic and CFO Lawrence Offsey join him in this endeavour.
2PLUS will coordinate artist acquisition and marketing for Frontiers in North America and will represent the label in the relationship with the local distributors and promoters.
Frontiers Records label President Serafino Perugino stated, “Working with “the professor” Derek Shulman has been nothing but a joy so far. His experience and wisdom are going to guide Frontiers Records growth to the next level and we are absolutely excited to share with him and 2PLUS a vision for the future growth of Frontiers in the North American market”.
Derek Shulman stated “ I am extremely excited about being involved with Serafino and Frontiers Records”. It is very gratifying to work with people who are music fans and yet understand the dynamics of the ever-changing music business model. Frontiers Records is committed to making the leap to become the premiere independent rock music company worldwide. I am very happy to lend my experience to my friends at Frontiers to realize this goal”.

Classic Rock magazine recently compared Torpedohead’s music to the the sleaze of Guns N’ Roses. While it may be a little too soon to make that type of comparison, I have to admit that I think the band’s song “Cadillac Beach” is pretty damn cool. Check it out in the video below!Vodpod videos no longer available.
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the European release on December 3rd of two (2) NELSON albums: “Before the Rain” the demo collection of songs that secured their recording deal with Geffen Records in 1990 and “Perfect Storm – After the Rain World Tour 1991” live concert album. A North American release will follow in February 2011, as a complement to the release of NELSON’s brand new original album “Lightning Strikes Twice”.
“Both of these extraordinary albums provide a NELSON time capsule,” reflects Gunnar Nelson. “From the early demo recordings on ‘Before the Rain’ to the rare live tour recordings on ‘Perfect Storm’, the music on these albums offers a unique glimpse of our early career.”
“These two NELSON albums are indeed newly unearthed roots of the NELSON family tree,” adds Matthew Nelson. “They both offer valuable insight to what makes our current sound what it is by way of an amazing journey back in time as we were first putting all of the pieces of the puzzle together.”
The phenomenal success of NELSON’s 1990 debut LP “After The Rain” did not happen overnight. It came after years of hard work that are documented in the “Before the Rain” album, a release that tells the story of twins Matthew and Gunnar Nelson and their five year musical journey (from 1986 to 1990) to reach the Rock N’ Roll Promised Land.
In 1986, after writing songs with Dweezil Zappa for his debut LP “My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Momma” and writing and recording the title cut for the film “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” under the band name Power Tool, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson decided they needed to hone their songwriting craft and learn from experts. They started with writer/producer Jack Ponti in New Jersey and recorded the songs they wrote that year with friends that eventually became the band Skid Row. Next, they journeyed to Australia to collaborate with Little River Band’s hit writer Graham Gobel and other writers for two months Down Under. A subsequent 3-month stay in the U.K. to write with hit makers Adrian Gurvitz and Argent’s Russ Ballard followed.
Though elements from those experiences and sessions would wind up in later attempts, NELSON finally hit musical pay dirt writing songs in a bedroom in Pacific Palisades California and recorded them in a 16-track demo studio in a converted garage in the San Fernando Valley with a then unknown writer/producer named Marc Tanner.
The results are what can be heard now on “Before the Rain”. These are the original demonstration recordings that caught the attention of A&R legend John Kalodner in late 1989 and scored Nelson a recording contract with Geffen/DGC Records which led to eventual sales of more than 3,000,000 copies of “After The Rain” and all the success that followed, including a World tour with over 300 concerts.
NELSON’s live line-up included some incredible virtuoso musicians such as Bobby Rock on drums, Brett Garsed on guitar, Paul Mirkovich on Keys and vocals and the addition of Joey Cathcart on vocals and second lead guitar. NELSON provided 4-part harmony, stellar musicianship, veteran showmanship, twin frontmen, and most importantly – great songs. NELSON played venues ranging in size from 1,200 to 60,000 seats between 1990-1992 from New York to Tokyo, sharing the stage with some other great bands with some strong openers, including House Of Lords, Tyketto, Enuff Z’nuff, Cinderella and Lynch Mob.
Amazingly and sadly, throughout the 3-year phenomenon of “After The Rain”, none of the tour’s concerts were ever filmed in their entirety. “Perfect Storm” live audio recordings are all that remain to document the height of NELSONMANIA for posterity. If you were there you are sure to remember how you felt that night experiencing the magic of the “After The Rain” tour in person. If you weren’t, you can be transported back in time now through this amazing live album.
With all the right components for success, the right cast of characters, the best fans, everything converging at the right place and time…. NELSON’s After The Rain World Tour was “The Perfect Storm”.

Mickey Finn, original vocalist for JETBOY, has officially announced his departure from the band. The split took place mid-September when Finn revealed he would not be able to take part in a planned European tour. JETBOY has chosen to continue without Finn and the European tour will take place November 12 through mid-December.
Commented Finn: “I wish the guys the best but from here on out they should start fresh and change there name because it’s just not JETBOY anymore.” He added, “I apologize to all the JETBOY fans who will be disappointed by this news and thank you for your support over the years.”
Finn formed JETBOY with longtime friends Billy Rowe and Fernie Rod in 1983.
Twenty years after the release of the highly acclaimed “Damnednation”, JETBOY’s latest EP, “Off Your Rocker”, was made available on March 2 via iTunes and Amazon.com.
JETBOY’s last CD/DVD release, “The Glam Years”, came out on Cleopatra/Deadline Records. It contained a DVD of a 1986 concert at Los Angeles’ legendary Whisky a Go-Go (featuring a chock-full of extra interviews and photos) as well as a 21-track CD of the group’s greatest hits.
As previously reported, Mickey’s new band COLD BLUE REBELS — which also features Joe Normal (guitar) and Danny Dangerous (bass) of ZEROS plus former GLAMOUR PUNKS skins basher Spazz Draztik on the drums — has completed work on its debut album, “Blood, Guts, n’ Rock & Roll”, for a January 11, 2011 release via Horror High, LLC. The CD artwork is being created by D.A. Frizell who has worked on such projects as AVENGED SEVENFOLD (illustrator on “Nightmare” and “Book Of Nightmares” and litho), Michale Graves (cover art for “Punk Rock Is Dead”), SEVENDUST (cover and interiors on “Cold Day Memory”) and DISTURBED (“Decade Of Disturbed” movie poster).

HRH Note: This is extremely disappointing news from the Jetboy camp. Mickey Finn is the type of singer that will be nearly impossible to replace for Jetboy. I am glad that I was able to see and cover the Jetboy shows with Mickey in Columbus, Ohio & M3 in Columbia, MD. It is going to be tough for Jetboy to rebound from this. Best wishes to both the guys in Jetboy, and Mickey Finn, and his Cold Blue Rebels. Hopefully we will end up with two kick ass bands out of this split.
The only singer I have ever seen that could come close to matching Ronnie James Dio’s vocals on the classic Black Sabbath tune “Heaven & Hell” is Ray Gillen. Check out this clip with the late Ray Gillen on vocals live from Montreal in 1986.
Black Sabbath has released Deluxe Editions of their classic discs Eternal Idol & Seventh Star.
Eternal Idol is digitally all-remastered and expanded edition of this 1987 album including two bonus tracks on Disc One plus the complete album session originally recorded by the late Ray Gillen on Disc Two. The Eternal Idol, Sabbath’s 13th studio album, was an altogether harder sounding record and brought back an ‘edge’ that had been missing from Seventh Star. Whilst there was much for the Sabbath fan to celebrate with tracks such as, ‘The Shining’, ‘Ancient Warrior’, ‘Born To Lose’ and the title track, the album wasn’t as well received and settled at number 66 in the UK and a disappointing 168 in the US.
Over the years however, fans of Black Sabbath and hard rock in general have been re-discovering all that The Eternal Idol has to offer.
Eternal Idol Track Listing
1. The Shining (5:58)
2. Ancient Warrior (5:34)
3. Hard Life to Love (5:00)
4. Glory Ride (4:48)
5. Born to Lose (3:43)
6. Nightmare (5:17)
7. Scarlet Pimpernel (2:07)
8. Lost Forever (4:00)
9. Eternal Idol (6:35)
10. Black Moon (2010 Deluxe Only)
11. Some Kind of Woman (2010 Deluxe Only)
Disc 2 (2010 Deluxe Only)
1. Glory Ride
2. Born to Lose
3. Lost Forever
4. Eternal Idol
5. The Shining
6. Hard Life to Love
8. Ancient Warrior
Digitally remastered and expanded deluxe two CD edition of this 1986 album including bonus tracks. Seventh Star was the 12th official Black Sabbath studio album and reached the #27 position in the UK and #78 in the US. In celebration of the release of the 20th Anniversary Edition of QUEENSRŸCHE EMPIRE on November 9th (EMI/Capitol), check out the stream of RESISTANCE (recorded live at London’s Hammersmith Odeon on 11/15/90).
QUEENSRŸCHE – RESISTANCE (Live in London):
“Resistance” became the tour opener for the Queensrÿche shows of the 90s. Singer Geoff Tate and guitarist Michael “Whip” Wilton share their thoughts:
“The song Resistance was a song written about protecting the environment. This is a cause I felt connected to when we wrote the song and a cause I still feel strongly about today.” – GEOFF TATE
“Resistance was one of the last songs recorded for Empire. I had the parts ready and Chris (DeGarmo) and I pieced the music together for Geoff to sing this idea he had about the resistance in America at the time. The song recorded fast and my solo was a one taker. Kind of a whip jig.” – MICHAEL WILTON

VIRGIN STEELE mastermind David Defeis said the following about “The Black Light Bacchanalia:
“It is a long album…close to 80 minutes…The album (to be really brief), concerns the reversal of all things…Once conquered by invading cultures, older Pagan deities become the demons…of the new religion. “The Black Light Bacchanalia” is a reversal of the sacred sexual customs, and the final desecration of the “Goddess Principle”, switching from matrilineal descent to patrilineal descent, with the rise of the idea of the Mountain-Fire God…. And it also has to do with ancient fears such as the fear of the sun not rising…Lyrically it is a kind of continuation of the story I told on the last album…Musically it is quite something else…”

Legendary rock band The Cult prepares to release new music on November 16th via innovative music capsules, heralding a new era of music delivery that will impact the way we hear music for years to come. Capsule 2: New Blood Deep Cuts features new songs “Embers” and “Until The Light Takes Us,” live recordings of some of the band’s huge hits and an intimate look into The Cult’s rehearsal space, with a never before seen warm-up performance of “Black Angel.” Rather than revisit the traditional method of releasing a long form CD, the band is pioneering a new way of providing material. Capsules span multiple media formats including vinyl, digital, USB, CD and DVD formats, and can be purchased at: http://cultcapsulestore.com.
Frontman Ian Astbury explains, “We are stepping away from the conventional system. By including new music, live music and film, we are giving our fans the opportunity to own other creative visions. The Capsule is a way of delivering music in bites, quicker and fresher than in the context of an album format.”
Capsule 2: New Blood Deep Cuts’ lead track, “Embers,” will be available exclusively on iTunes beginning November 1st for 2 weeks, while iTunes’ exciting new music-oriented social network site called Ping boasts an exclusive On Demand preview streaming of “Embers, the “Black Angel” rehearsal film and new band photos. In the 80s, hair bands ruled. They were all over the radio, all over MTV, and all over anywhere one could look. And while a lot of people thought that most of them looked like girls, there were a few bands that actually had girls in them. In this edition of Vie’s Verses, I’m paying tribute to some of the best female fronted bands of yesteryear. So grab your aqua net, your dog eared copy of Hit Parader, and your dual cassette boom box, and let’s take a ride down memory lane.
Vixen was huge in 1988/1989 with their self-titled debut album and smash hit, Edge Of A Broken Heart. Their appeal was deeper than just the music, however. As an all female band, filled with beautiful women, the guys loved Vixen for more than their songs. Rationally, Edge Of A Broken Heart is not a song that a dude could pump his fist to. It’s a song about a woman who is trying to avoid heartbreak. That’s not very manly. But the guys found themselves singing along anyway, because these chicks were hot!
Vixen formed in Minnesota in the mid-80s and then moved to Los Angeles, California, to join the smoking hot L.A. music scene. The fact that they were an all girl band certainly helped to get them the attention of record execs. After enjoying huge success with their first album, Vixen released Rev It Up in 1990. Unfortunately, Rev It Up was not promoted by the band’s record label, EMI, as well as their debut album was, and record sales on Rev It Up were poor. In 1991 the band split up.
Where are they now?
In 2001, as hair metal was making a huge revival, Jan Kuehnemund reformed Vixen with two other original members and a new bass guitar player. Halfway through their first tour, the band split up again. Kuehnemund, determined to keep the band‘s name alive, hired a new lineup and continued to tour and record under the name Vixen. Their last show was at the 2009 Rocklahoma. Since then, there has not been much activity from the band, but there are rumors of a possible new album and tour in the works for 2010/2011.

80s pop star, Richard Marx, wrote and arranged Edge Of A Broken Heart for Vixen at the request of EMI.
Led by the beautiful and highly talented Doro Pesch, Warlock was a heavy metal band that formed in Germany in 1982. Their third album, True As Steel, was released in 1986, and brought the band recognition in the US. The single, Fight For Rock, was picked up by North American radio, and the band found a new following during the height of the hair metal years. Though most members of the band rotated in and out of Warlock, Doro Pesch always remained Warlock’s front woman. Warlock would find even more success once their videos started getting regular play on MTv’s Headbangers Ball. By the late 80s, all of the original band members had left Warlock. Doro had to change the name of the band (to Doro) due to Warlock’s original manager suing for the naming rights to Warlock.
Where are they now?
Doro Pesch is still performing under the Doro moniker and released a new album in 2009. Guitarist Peter Szigeti went on to play with many other bands, most notably U.D.O. Guitarist Rudy Graf went on to join the band Rage after leaving Warlock in 1985. He left the band Rage in 1987. Bassist Frank Rittel left Warlock at the end of the True As Steel Tour and little has been heard of him since. Drummer Michael Eurich left Warlock to join the band Casanova where he recorded three albums with them. His drumming activity has been quiet since then. Doro is still recording and touring in Europe and North America.

In 2008, Pure Steel Records released the first official tribute to Warlock which included special appearances by members of the band.
Fronted by the gorgeous Sandi Saraya, Saraya was a New Jersey based band that had some modest radio hits, including their big single, Love Has Taken Its Toll. Never wanting their album to sell based on Sandi’s beauty, the front woman actually insisted that most of her face be hidden for the album’s cover shoot. Saraya only released two albums, and their second album, When The Blackbird Sings is hardly known by anyone except the truest of metal fans. After the release of their second album, keyboardist Gregg Munier quit the band, and Saraya decided to go their separate ways.
Where are they now?
Keyboardist and founding member, Gregg Munier, died in 2006 due to complications from pneumonia.
After Saraya split up in 1991, Sandi Saraya married Tesla bassist Brian Wheat, but they soon divorced. Since then, Sandi went on to marry again and is raising five children with her current husband.
Guitarist Tony Bruno is currently performing with Danger, Danger, although he is not an official member of the band.
Drummer Chuck Bonfante has been in and out of different bands since the demise of Saraya.
Earlier this year, rumors abounded that Saraya would be playing a reunion show, their first show in over 18 years, at the Firefest in the UK. Unfortunately, this never happened. Tony Bruno and Chuck Bonfante claim that Sandi was never committed to the reunion and she backed out at the last minute after demanding an exurbanite amount of money to play the festival. Sandi claims this is not true, that she just wanted enough money to cover the expenses of her family traveling to the festival with her, so that her children could see her perform. Her husband recently underwent surgery and the medical bills depleted her savings. It is not known whether Sandi and her former bandmates have spoken since her decision to not perform at Firefest (which took place just last week (October 30th and 31st). Whether there will be a reunion in the future still remains to be seen.

Saraya was in the midst of recording their third album when the band decided to call it quits.
Smashed Gladys was a band that flew under everybody’s radar, but whose debut album is currently fetching a small mint on EBay and Craigslist, when they can be found. Fronted by the sleazy hot Sally Cato, Smashed Gladys released their debut album, Smashed Gladys in 1985. They followed that up with the excellent Social Intercourse in 1988. While not receiving much airplay or video time on MTV, Smashed Gladys went on to form a small following of hard core fans. Due to lack of support and promotion from the record company, the band decided to split up in 1989 while recording their third album, Tales From The East Side. The album has never been released.
Where are they now?
Front woman, Sally Cato, completely disappeared from the music scene after Smashed Gladys hung up their instruments. For most of her adult life she has been a Tibetan Buddhist. She currently owns a marketing and design firm in New York City. She still conducts interviews with glam/rock magazines and websites from time to time.
Guitarists Bart Lewis and Roger Lane, as well as bassist J.D. Malo have been in and out of bands since the breakup of Smashed Gladys. Drummer Matt Stelluto is currently employed by the New York Mets.
Social Intercourse has recently been re-released on Wounded Bird Records and can be found online for a decent price. Sally Cato has not ruled out the chance for a Smashed Gladys reunion if someone can put together a budget for the band to reunite.

Smashed Gladys was originally managed by Gene Simmons.
Bitch was formed in 1980 by lead singer, Betsy Bitch. Their debut album, Be My Slave was released in 1983 and received some rotation on rock radio stations. In 1987 Bitch released their follow up album, The Bitch Is Back, two years after originally recording it. During that time, the band built a large following on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, playing such noted clubs as The Roxy and The Whiskey A Go-Go. By the time The Bitch Is Back was officially released, the band had a large fan base. This helped sales of their sophomore release tremendously. In 1989, Bitch released their final album, A Rose By Any Other Name. Since that time, Betsy Bitch has been the only original member to remain in the band.
Where are they now?
Betsy Bitch has continued to stay in the music scene. In several interviews she has stated that Bitch never officially broke up, they would just go on extended hiatus. Bitch continued to play festivals and do some minor touring throughout the 90s and 00s.
Original drummer Robby Settles passed away from leukemia earlier this year.
Guitarist David Carruth stayed with the band until recently, but is no longer a member of Bitch.
Bitch is currently in the studio with a new lineup working on a new album. A release date has not been set.
Did you know?
Bitch was the first female fronted heavy metal band signed to a record label.
Very few bands surprise me in 2010, but metalcore act All That Remains have done just that. With the band’s new song, “For We Are Many”, it seems like the band is leaning more towards modern metal, than metalcore, and as it turns out, I like this song a lot.
Check out the video, “For We Are Many” below. If you like what you hear, you can download the song for free below!
