HRH Comment: The picks year were not as bad as they have been in the past, but still could use an expert on the music genres of Hard Rock & Metal. Out of the entries listed above, I only see three or four that really make sense. Is Them Crooked Vultures this year’s Jethro Tull? Does the Grammy’s use the same folks that elect the bands for the Rock and Roll Halll of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio? One of the biggest metal albums of 2010 is clearly not present here. Where is Accept’s Blood of Nations? What about the best hard rock performances? Why wasn’t RATT’s “Best of Me”, or Avenged Sevenfold’s “Nightmare” nominated? Every year, I see these nominations, and I am left scratching my head, wondering who is doing the selections. If they want experts, why not let the writers at the big rock magazines vote on their favorites. Hard Rock Hideout would gladly offer our assistance on the Hard Rock nominees.

Even though I don’t put much Metal stock in the Grammy’s, it’s very cool to see these bands listed and recognized by the uptight establishment. Overkill, Exodus, Scorpions and A7X all made amazing albums this year… it’s a shame they are not recognized on this Grammy list. 😦
