BELIEVER reveals album art and track listing for ‘Transhuman’! Pre-orders now available!
Legendary Heavy Metal outfit BELIEVER have revealed the cover artwork and tracklisting for their upcoming, brand new concept album Transhuman due April 8/11! Fans can pre-order their copy of Transhuman HERE. Also available on the band’s pre-order page is a video that shows how the cover art came to be. Below are some images taken from the extraordinary artwork within the CD’s packaging.
Once again, BELIEVER tapped into the artistic genius of Michael Rosner and Eye Level Studio to produce the Transhuman artwork and layout. “We wanted to work with Roz again on Transhuman as our visions of combining art and music truly parallel. He just gets it and his artwork is outside the typical box in a way that we strive for musically. It is an amazing collaboration that we have with Roz that continues to evolve. We are excited for everyone to see the final layout!”
The band continues: “Sonically we’re extremely happy with this album and can’t wait for other people to hear it. We feel like this is a really strong and unique album in the BELIEVER catalogue and it’s something we’re definitely proud of.
So what will you hear? We focused more on the overall musicality which included more instrumental layers than we used before. The vocals were also more of a focus as we have had much feedback throughout the years, specifically to get out of the one dimensional realm. Kurt wanted the vocals to be more complimentary to the overall tune feel, so he used many facets of his vocal abilities. As with all Believer albums, this one is definitely unique.”
Transhumanism: The study of the ramifications, promises, and potential dangers of technologies that will enable us to overcome fundamental human limitations, and the related study of the ethical matters involved in developing and using such technologies.
Immensely heavy, deceptively melodic, ambitiously daring, and brilliantly played. BELIEVER’S brand new concept album TRANSHUMAN available in Europe April 8/11!
Kurt Bachman – guitars/vocals
Joey Daub – drums
Jeff King – keyboards/guitars

Rocker Bret Michaels, currently recuperating from heart surgery, will reunite with all original POISON band mates for a 25th Anniversary tour tentatively titled Glam – A – Gedon 25. For the first time ever Poison and MÖTLEY CRÜE will co-headline a select date summer tour with special guests the NEW YORK DOLLS. Although several controversial statements have been made in the press by certain members of Mötley Crüe vowing this tour would never happen, that is simply not the case. Fans of both bands have spoken and want the tour to happen and both Mötley Crüe and Poison have agreed. Concert promoters in these select cities state that the buzz is unbelievable for both the Poison dates as well as the Mötley Crüe / Poison tour. No doubt this will be the rock tour of the summer. Both Poison and Mötley Crüe have a long history of hit songs, bigger than life stage shows, no holds barred live energy not to mention the two bands combined have sold over 100 million records and have over 24 top 40 hits between them.
Tickets for the Mötley Crüe/Poison tour will go on sale March 18th.
Poison plan to kick off their 25th Anniversary Glam -A – Gedon 25 tour in Tupelo Mississippi at the Bancorp South Arena Wednesday May 25th. Michaels will then continue solo, playing Thursday May 26th in Ft. Walton Beach where he will perform for the fans and troops as he did last Memorial Day weekend. Michaels will rejoin Poison in Little Rock at the River Fest Amphitheater on Friday May 27th. Michaels will then perform solo at the Hard Rock in Biloxi on Saturday May 28th. Bret will rejoin Poison and Mötley Crüe Sunday May 29th at Rocklahoma. Poison will then continue on alone playing arenas from Memorial Day until rejoining Mötley Crüe in Dallas at the Starplex Amphitheater on Tuesday June 7th.
When reporters recently asked Bret Michaels if there was any bad blood between the bands, Michaels laughs “there may be some friendly competition but there is no bad blood at all on my part. Nikki and I have spoken several times on the phone recently and the conversations went great.” Michaels continues, “Music is a universal language and I am extremely excited that this tour has come together as are the fans, they are truly going to see a great show. Honestly, I could care less about all the mudslinging, it gets nobody nowhere, and after all I have been through health wise in the last year, I am going to try to focus on what does matter which is the show, the fans, fun and personally throwing a hell of a backstage party.”
Bret Michaels solo tour will start March 19th when he appears at Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity Fight Night alongside Kevin Costner, David Foster, Billy Crystal, Halle Berry and Reba McIntire and will continue up until the Mötley Crüe / Poison tour starts. The Get Your Rock On solo tour in support of the album of the same name will resume immediately following the select summer dates with Mötley Crüe and Poison.
Their second studio album will feature a big surprise! The song “In Reverie”, which will promote the album, will include a guest appearance by Doogie White! This charismatic singer is best known to the wide audience for his cooperation with such bands as Midnight Blue, Rainbow, Cornerstore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Rata Blanca and most recently Tank. This anticipated album will surely constitute an obligatory title for all fans of classic rock.
Kruk’s musicians openly express their joy! They couldn’t have hoped for a better present than Ritchie Blackmore’s former singer’s participation in their musical enterprise! As it turns out, Piotrek Brzychcy, Tomek Wiśniewski and Krzysztof Walczyk met White already in 2005 during their gig in Katowice, where they shared the stage with Yngwie Malmsteen. “We were extremely happy that, after the gig, we could give each other high five, that we could make some commemorative photos. Now he sings in our song, he sings our lyrics… on our album. It’s hard to believe!” Piotrek says, adding “I remember one of my first conversations with Krzysiek Walczyk, when we expressed our utmost delight over Rainbow’s ‘Strangers in Us All’. It was back when we were just starting to form Kruk and we had never dreamed that we would ever have the honor of cooperating with Doogie White. We adored White for having set new standards in the Purple-Rainbow family with the way he sang with Blackmore. What he recorded for “In Reverie” is to our utmost satisfaction because you can hear passion and joy in every single note. I don’t think there’s a more happy band today in the entire universe than us!”
Stryper’s new album, The Covering is finally here! This album has been heavily hyped for close to a year now, and finally has received a proper release. Typically, cover albums are not really my cup of tea. In the case of Stryper, I have been a huge fan of the band since the ’80’s. I was definitely willing to give this CD a shot.
The Covering shows Stryper paying homage to all of the bands who influenced their career. Stryper didn’t try to reinvent the wheel when doing these songs. They did the songs in their traditional forms. The major difference on the Stryper version of these songs, are the awesome guitar tones of Oz Fox, and the excellent vocal harmonies of Michael Sweet. They did a terrific job with the songs, and The Covering shines as a result. Did Stryper pick the best songs to cover from the artists who inspired them? Probably not. There are better songs from Van Halen, Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne and Iron Maiden that Stryper could have covered. With that being said, the versions of the songs on The Covering, are handled with such grace, that I can find much fault with this CD at all.
I found it ironic that one of the choices on the CD was Black Sabbath’s “Heaven & Hell”. I was pleasantly surprised how good the Stryper version is. Michael Sweet has always been an incredible singer, and his vocals just blow me away on this song. It is awesome! One of my other favorites is the cover of UFO’s “Lights Out”. This version is so good, even Eddie Trunk will love it! Van Halen’s “On Fire” requires a lot of screaming, and Michael Sweet nails it perfectly on this one too!
To close out the album, there is a great new studio track “God” that has me clamoring to hear more new Stryper material. Hopefully 2012 will bring us another new Stryper disc. Until then, I will definitely be rocking out to The Covering. If you are a fan of Stryper, you gotta get this CD!! You won’t be disappointed!
For more information on Stryper, check them on the web at Stryper.com, or on Facebook at this link. If you have been having trouble finding a copy of The Covering in your local stores (as did I), you can purchase it here! You can check out previews of the songs below!

Frontiers Records is proud to announce the signing of Warrant, one of the most popular and successful American hard rock bands to come out of the Los Angeles musical scene. The band is currently in the studio recording a brand new album under the direction of Keith Olsen (Scorpions, Whitesnake and Night Ranger). The album tentatively titled “ROCKAHOLIC” is scheduled for a May 2011 Worldwide release.
Jerry Dixon commented, “The last few years has been like holding in a big “secret“ from the world and now we get to share it. I really think we captured a perfect mix of the past and present on this record. Each song has its own vibe that’s going to take people on a kick-ass Warrant rollercoaster ride. To help achieve an old school sound mixed with the flair of today, we called on the legendary Keith Olsen to do the production. There’s enough 80’s influence on songs like “Tears In The City” & “Sex Ain’t Love” to keep the die-hard Warrant fans rocking while introducing them to new material”.
Warrant has sold over 8 million records worldwide. The band first came into the spotlight with their debut multiplatinum album “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich”, which included the smash hit single “Heaven.” The band continued its success in the 90’s with the multiplatinum album “Cherry Pie” and the gold album “Dog Eat Dog”, both albums providing more hit singles in the Billboard Top 30.”ROCKAHOLIC” is sure to add more Billboard action for the band. With singer Robert Mason on lead vocals and original band members Erik Turner and Joey Allen on guitars, Jerry Dixon on bass and Steven Sweet on drums Warrant is ready to spread the ROCKAHOLIC addiction to the world.
2011 Rockaholic Schedule:
March: US Tour
April 29th – May 9th Australia Tour
May 13th – M3 Rock Festival
September: South America Tour
October: European Tour
The band Big Ball comes from Germany, but on first listen, you might think they are from Australia. The front cover of my CD says if you like Krokus, Airbourne and AC/DC, You will love Big Ball! If every song sounded like the opening cut, “Double Demon” I would have to agree. Big Ball are masters of the three chord AC/DC influenced rock. Hotter Than Hell doesn’t have one original thing going for it, but the band does rock.
Lead Singer, The Blood God has so much snarl & venom in his voice, that he sounds more like Udo Dirkschneider than Bon Scott or Brian Johnson. With that being said, his voice quickly becomes tiring, and one that I could do without. If you can get past the voice of The Blood God, you will probably enjoy the music. Unfortunately for me, I can’t separate the two. The singer of Big Ball absolutely kills this CD for me. I like the song “Double Demon”, and aside from that I found the title track “Hotter Than Hell” to be ok, but I struggled to find any other songs to my liking.
There are a ton of bands out there that have a similar sound to AC/DC, and many of them are quite good. To my ears, if Big Ball had a different singer, they could be one of the good ones. Hotter Than Hell was nothing more than a disappointment to my ears.
Check out Big Ball on Myspace, and decide for yourself!
- Double Demon
- Porna Lisa
- Big Ball Crew
- Free Fire Zone
- Hell Whores & High Heels
- Hotter Than Hell
- Plugged In
- Wrecking Ball
- Groove Monster Machine
- Rock N Roll Stomper
- Riding With The Devil
Big Ball is:
The Blood God – Vocals
The Killdozer – Guitars
The Groove Monster Machine – Drums
The Rock N’ Roll Stomper – Drums
MR. BIG is back with their highly anticipated new studio album entitled “What If… ” out now on Frontiers Records.
“What If… ” is MR. BIG’s first all original album since the reunion of the four original members, Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert, Billy Sheehan and Pat Torpey back in early 2009. Sixteen years after the release of « Hey Man », the new recording is set to bring back MR. BIG on the height of the current Hard Rock scene.
Guitarist Paul Gilbert said: “This is the first MR. BIG album I have been a part of, since fourteen years and it was done in a snap. It was fun and we had really a good time in making this one”. Continues Billy Sheehan “It’s so great to be back with Paul, Eric and Pat too. We wrote this record like we did in the old days for the first 2 records. Jamming together in the same room to write songs”. Pat Torpey adds ““Some of the recording process is different now from what we were used to in the old times. But I think this record really managed to capture the performances of the band, not of the individual musicians”.
Eric Martin concludes: “I like to compare this to the first album, when we just got to know each other in a reharsal studio and cut it in 8 or 9 days. This is like chapter 2. We had so many years, so many records and so many things behind us. Now this feels like a beautiful brand new chapter starting for all of us”.
” What If… ” was produced by Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Rush, Iron Maiden) and the release will be followed by a World Tour which will kick off in South America in March and will hit Europe in early summer.
Formed in 1988, Mr. Big forged its place in hard rock history by combining trademark “shredding” musicianship with awesome vocal harmonies. The original line-up – vocalist Eric Martin, guitarist Paul Gilbert, bassist Billy Sheehan, and drummer Pat Torpey. Mr. Big produced numerous hit songs that ranged across a wide array of rock genres – be it ballads, heavy metal, or blues rock.
Their hits included “To Be With You” (Billboard Hot 100 number one single in 15 countries for weeks, in 1991, propelling the band the band to huge international success and record sales in the multi-millions), “Wild World”, Green-Tinted sixties Mind”, “Just Take My Heart”, and a host of heavy metal songs that were played mostly during their live performances: “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy”, “Addicted to that Rush”, “Colorado Bulldog”, and “Take Cover”.
“What If…” will be released in a special edition CD + DVD in digipak, regular CD, vinyl and digital download and in a limited edition luxury box including the CD, DVD, LP and exclusive memorabilia.
“What If…” tracklisting includes: Undertow; American Beauty; Stranger In My Life; Nobody Takes the Blame; Still Ain’t Enough for Me; Once Upon a Time; As Far As I Can See; All The Way Up; I Won’t Get In My Way; Around The World; I Get The Feeling; Unforgiven (exclusive bonus track for Europe / North America – not on vinyl edition).
The DVD will include the videoclips of “Undertow” and “All the Way Up” plus a documentary “Making of” the album including interviews and exclusive behind the scenes features of the four members.

Like most diehard, devoted, metal fans, I was an outcast growing up. During my teenage years, I was very confused about life, my purpose in the world, and how I fit into the grand scheme of things. Introverted and shy, it was a challenge for me to make friends. I tried to be the “cool” guy, but wasn’t often accepted. I had trouble with the ladies due to my awkwardness and it was always a challenge for me to just fit in. The queerness of my teen years led to a lot of anger issues that were difficult to contain. I could not understand why people just didn’t accept me for me. Why did I have to try so hard to fit a mold crusted by society that said we should be one way or another? Then I discovered heavy metal.
It was Motley Crue’s Girls, Girls, Girls that really kick started my love affair with hard rock music. While I had been listening to AC/DC , Kiss, and Led Zeppelin prior to that, it was the Crue that taught me about partying and being different. This led to my love affair with glam bands of the day, such as Poison and Warrant. Then Guns N Roses hit the scene and literally changed everything. Their new sound and “we don’t care” style showed me that it was all right to stand up for what you believed in, no matter how different it may have appeared to society.
Rock and Roll taught me that it was ok to be different. Metal is an adapted lifestyle that says screw the system and go your own way. It’s all right to be yourself. There’s no need to conform for the man, be proud of who you are. I took that message and ran with it throughout my high school years.
Heavy Metal taught me to be fearless and to go after whatever I wanted with a passion and a conviction that I could not fail. When I had a crush on the most beautiful girl in high school (two years my senior at the time) I followed the rock and roll message and went after her. Using my power ballad romantic side, I went to the flower shop that she worked for, bought her a rose, and left it on the counter with a note. She was quite impressed. While we never did get to go on a date, the experience helped build my confidence. That experience never would have happened without metal music in my ear, egging me on to rise above the challenge and to stop listening to those who told me I wasn’t good enough.
Even to this day, although older and wiser, I use the heavy metal message when I need to. Whenever I find myself in front of a difficult challenge or wanting to just give up, thinking that I’m not good enough, I think back to the metal heroes of my youth. I can hear Paul Stanley singing about believing in who you are and taking a stand. I can feel Manowar telling me to fight the world with no fear. I can sense the power of Motorhead helping me to push forward even through the deepest moments of doubt. Heavy metal music heals me during those rough times. When I lack confidence or start to believe that I’m not good enough to try for something, all it takes is a few spins of a good rock record to change my tune and make me believe in myself. That’s a powerful medium. Heavy metal music and the fans that love it have become a part of my lifestyle and have accepted me for who I am.
That’s the beauty of heavy metal. We welcome all to this house. Whether you’re tall, short, fat, bald, slow, or just a little insecure, the brotherhood of metal music will accept you as you are. We’ve all been in that awkward position. We’ve all felt friendless. And then we discovered hard rock. Long live metal!
Oliver Barnes of the Classic Rock and Metal Podcast recently conducted an interview with former Guns ‘n Roses drummer Steven Adler and bassist Chip Z’Nuff, both currently touring with Adler’s Appetite.
The band are now in the UK for a series of shows mixing both Guns ‘n Roses and new material and the pair discuss their recent sell-out jaunt in Europe, the new material and the new lease of life they’re finding on the road.

FnA Records is releasing a not-so-new album from TORA TORA. In fact, inferior copies have been floating around the internet for years to the dismay of the band. Guitarist Keith Douglas comments: “The files found and shared on the net are a poor copy from cassette to CD that are actually too fast. This release will be the closest thing ever to the original recording. Revolution Day Is Here!”
Revolution Day is material that was being worked on by Tora Tora for the follow-up to Wild America when the band found themselves in the midst of a new genre called Grunge. Fans of the hard rock genre would be disappointed as they saw their favorite bands dropped from their labels. What was a successful band like Tora Tora to do?
Anthony Corder recollecting the Revolution Day sessions:
“The Revolution Day project was an interesting time for Tora Tora. It was the ’93-’94 era, we were overlapping the last embers of our Wild America dates, rehearsing ideas for the new project, growing from our touring experiences, and experimenting with recording techniques. We relocated our rehearsal space to a warehouse over by the Memphis airport, and tried to stay focused on pre-production. We were pulling together ideas from handheld cassette recorders, scribbled napkins, and 8 track recordings we made on the bus or hotel rooms. I think we were more comfortable with our creative spirits, more confident in our ideas and our approach to songwriting. All of us contributed on the former projects, but everyone was struggling for the third project to keep the Tora identity, and go somewhere new at the same time. We definitely had moments of anxiety and frustration but it was all well worth it once we locked down the tunes. We were joined by The Memphis Horns as well as Susan Marshall and Stacy Plunk, adding back-up vocals on two tracks. The Revolution sessions were some of our most memorable escapades, and had us back at home in Ardent, hanging with Molly’s LaCasita crew, and me personally closing down most Midtown establishments.”
So what can the fans expect on Revolution Day? Fans of Tora Tora who fell in love with the bluesy feel of ‘Walkin’ Shoes’ and ‘Phantom Rider’ can expect more of the same (just with an updated feel) on tracks like ‘Mississippi Voodoo Child’, ‘Candle And The Stone’, ‘Shelter From The Rain’, ‘Me And You’, and ‘Rescue Me’. There are also your hard rockers on this album like ‘Living A World Away’, ‘Out Of The Storm’ and ‘Little Texas’.
Revolution Day shows a huge growth over Wild America as the band became more comfortable in the studio. On top of that, Anthony Corder’s voice is at a top-notch level. The fans will not be disappointed.
FnA Records has been the home for the last three Tora Tora albums, Bombs Away, Miss B. Havin’, and Before & After.

Rev Theory is back with their third effort Justice. After the success of their last album, Light it Up, I expected the band to travel down that same dreaded path that Saving Abel, and Theory of a Deadman moved on to trying to sound like the next Nickelback. With producer Terry Date (who has also produced records for Soundgarden, Pantera, and Metal Church), Rev Theory attempted to get a more live feel with Justice, and to my ears they have succeeded. While Justice lacks the big stadium style anthems of Light it Up, I honestly believe the music is better on Justice.
While Justice does have a couple of Nickelback like moments, there are also some heavy tunes that remind me of Stone Temple Pilots. The music on the opening cut, “Dead In A Grave” is the first song that has that STP grungy sound to it. The song has plenty of attitude, and shows quickly that Rev Theory is here to rock.
I have to be honest. I am not very fond of the title track “Justice” that was released as the first single from the album. I am sure the song has what it takes to get plenty of airplay on the Clear Channel rock stations out there, but this is my least favorite song on Justice.
To my ears, “Hangman” is much catchier than “Justice” and ought to be under consideration for Rev Theory’s next single. This song is MUCH better.
“Fire” and “Say Goodbye” are both slower numbers that could easily be hits for Rev Theory. While both have that Nickelback like vibe, they also pretty good. I have always like Rich Luzzi’s voice, and he is in fine form on both songs.
I prefer the heavier numbers on Justice, and “Loaded Gun”, ‘”Guilty By Design” and “Wicked Wonderland are easily the best ones on the CD.
Overall, I found myself missing the big hits of Light it Up, but I have enjoyed the music on Justice. To my ears Justice is more of a grower type of record. It might not bite you the first time around, but the songs get better with repeated listens. Check it out!

Coldspell has returned in 2011 with the follow-up effort to their awesome debut, Infinite Stargaze. For Coldspell’s new CD, Out From the Cold, the band has a new rhythm section with drummer Perra Johanson & Anders “Kebbe” Lindmark on bass. The Coldspell lineup for 2011 has changed but the band’s awesome sound has not. Tommy Hansen (TNT, Helloween, Pretty Maids) mixed this CD, and Out From The Cold picks right up where Infinite Stargaze left off!
Coldspell’s music is some times heavy, always melodic, and very pleasing to my ears. Niklas Swedentorp’s vocals are perfect for this style of music. He has a solid range in his voice, but never over sings the songs. Michael Larsson is a top-notch guitarist who has plenty of tasty guitar licks on this CD. His playing is augmented by the keyboards of Matti Eklund. There are some instances on Out From The Cold where Eklund appears to be playing a Hammond B3. The B3 has such a cool sound, and helps to give some of Coldspell’s songs a cool, almost Deep Purple like vibe.
The first song I heard from the CD was the first single “Heroes” (see video below). I was sold on this CD as soon as I heard this song, but this great rock doesn’t stop here. “Run For Your Life” is another great rockin’ tune that does a good job keeping the pace of the album going. If there was any justice in the world, this song would get a ton of airplay!
I don’t know if it is the rhythm of the song, or what it is, but “One In A Million” reminds me a lot of the (Lynch era) Dokken’s style of music. “Six Feet Under” is a very catchy rocker that has been growing on me a lot. One of the highlights on Out From the Cold, is the song “Time”. I keep finding myself turning up the volume every time I play this upbeat rocker.
Another song I would like to mention is the title track, “Out From the Cold”. This song has a slow acoustic build, but turns into a beast of a heavy tune. This may be one of the heaviest songs Coldspell has ever done. It may not grab you on the first listen, but give it a chance, this is really great stuff.
Overall, there are a bunch of cool tunes on this disc, but the real stand out songs are “Heroes”, “Run For Your Life”, “Time” and the upbeat rocker “Seven Wonders”.
If you are a fan of heavy melodic rock bands like Gotthard, Europe, or Whitesnake, you will find a lot to love with Coldspell’s Out From The Cold. Iff you are a fan of the debut CD, Infinite Stargaze, you need to pick this up now!! Recommended!!

Including your name, where you’re from, and a picture of you next to your questions. How fun right?” (Click Here to Submit Your Question to Bobby!)
