CONTROVERSIAL NC-17 RATED VERSION OF “DOWN IN MEXICO” VIDEO NOW UP ON SOULMOTOR.COM
SoulMotor’s new album Wrong Place at the Right Time is now available on iTunes and is currently streaming in full on their Facebook. The CD version of the album will be available through Amazon’s Disk on Demand in the coming week. Featuring Brain Wheat of Tesla fame, and creative mastermind Darin Wood, SoulMotor has also recently released a video for the song “Down in Mexico” which is included on Wrong Place at the Right Time. The controversial NC-17 version of the clip can be seen now at www.soulmotor.com.
Vocalist Darin Wood created the SoulMotor CD package, accompanying series of artwork and cast of characters related to the SoulMotor project. Some of the characters have already been introduced to SoulMotor’s followers on the band’s Facebook page, with more to be revealed in the coming weeks.
While many are familiar with Wheat and his multi-platinum Tesla roots, SoulMotor is a departure, with one journalist describing SoulMotor as “pounding riff-rock” along with a “Crushing rhythm section.”
Wrong Place at the Right Time is being released on Wheat’s custom label, Good Seed Music.
Every band that has been around for a long period of time falls into a similar trap. There is too much material to be celebrated. Certain songs rise to the top, other songs sink to the bottom, but then there are those songs that get lost in the mix. These are songs that are spectacular, but never get the attention they deserve.
One of the most notable bands that suffer from this problem is Kiss. They have a vast collection of hits and potential hits, but only their best known songs get celebrated. Turn on any rock radio station (be it satellite or terrestrial) and you’re bound to hear “Rock And Roll All Night,” “Detroit Rock City,” or “Beth” after a couple of hours. However, the Kiss catalog is much deeper than that. It’s also deeper than the songs the band plays in concert. There are several amazing Kiss songs that have been forgotten or ignored over the years, which is criminal.
Here now are the top 10 Kiss songs that should get more exposure than they do.
10. Then She Kissed Me (From Love Gun)
I know this is not a true Kiss song, but a cover of The Crystals 1963 hit “Then He Kissed Me.” However, for innovation alone, this song deserves more attention. Kiss took a hit pop song from the sixties sung by a female about a boy she loved, and turned it into a rocking song from the boy’s perspective. Ace Frehley’s guitar solo shreds, and that alone makes this a note worthy song. Paul’s vocals sound exceptional and overall, “Then She Kissed Me” is a fun tune. It definitely deserves more recognition than it has ever received.
9. Saint And Sinner (From Creatures Of The Night)
A dark, deep, Gene Simmons sung song, “Saint And Sinner” is one of the greatest gifts that Creatures Of The Night gave Kiss fans. Sure “I Love It Loud,’ “I Still Love You,” and “War Machine” got all of the attention, but it’s “Saint And Sinner” that stole the show. With an incredible riff, spectacular drums by Eric Carr, some of the best bass lines of Gene’s career and vocals that he could no longer capture, “Saint And Sinner” is a mesmerizing song.
8. Little Caesar (From Hot In The Shade)
The first (original) song that featured Eric Carr’s vocals, “Little Caesar” was on track to be a huge hit. The band performed it a few times during the Hot In The Shade tour. It appeared that Kiss was going to keep the song in as a staple of the next tour, but then Eric Carr passed away and “Little Caesar” slipped into oblivion in all of the aftermath. However, this is a song that should not be forgotten. Eric Carr’s vocals are superb and with Simmons backing him up the harmony is brilliant. “Little Caesar” is one of the best songs on Hot In The Shade and one of the best Kiss songs to come out in the 80s.
7. Almost Human (From Love Gun)
Another dark Kiss song featuring Gene Simmons on lead vocals, “Almost Human” is one of the most different songs that Kiss has ever recorded. It’s also one of the most under-celebrated songs in the entire Kiss catalog. That is a real shame. With a chorus that bores into the brain, some amazing guitar work from Ace Frehley, and very original lyrics, “Almost Human” is a song that is always overlooked when mentioning the great tunes of the Kiss catalog. Gene’s voice never sounded better, and it’s this song that really rounds out Love Gun, adding to the overall success of the record.
6. Journey Of A Thousand Years (From Psycho Circus)
Perhaps one of the least recognized songs in Kisstory is “Journey Of A Thousand Years.” This is another dark, Gene Simmons sung song. It has an amazing musical arrangement and Gene’s voice was in top form during the recording of this brilliant song. I’ve always thought this was one of the best songs on Psycho Circus and I’ve never understood why Kiss has all but ignored this track since it was recorded. It has the dark elements that great Kiss songs should contain, amazing guitar riffs, and a hook that fans could chant over and over. “Journey Of A Thousand Years” is a decidedly different type of Kiss song, but that’s what makes it so great.
5. Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em (From Rock And Roll Over)
“Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em” could be one of the best Kiss songs of the 70s. Reminiscent of “Ladies Room” (from the same album), “Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em” is a Gene sung ode to the women he’s loved. It’s definitely a song that only a man could be passionate about. However, with a terrific, powerful beat, vocals about loving women and moving on, and high energy throughout, “Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em” is Kiss at their finest. If the band would play this song in concert just once, I would feel that my life as a Kiss fan is complete.
4. Uh! All Night (From Asylum)
How on Earth can you have an anthem about working hard all day in order to have sex all night and never play it in concert? This has baffled me since “Uh! All Night” was released and then quickly forgotten. While performed during the Asylum tour, the song has not been touched since. It was never included on any collection of hits, it’s never been played in concert since the Asylum tour, and it never even gets mentioned (by the band and fans alike). I think this would be one of the most requested Kiss songs to be performed live. It’s an anthem, which Kiss is great at writing, it’s got a powerful, sing-along chorus, and it embraces a timeless theme in rock and roll….sex. Why hasn’t this song been more celebrated?
3. Pledge Allegiance To The State Of Rock And Roll (From Psycho Circus)
Kiss has always been able to write incredible rock anthems. From “Rock And Roll All Nite” to “God Gave Rock And Roll To You” they’ve always put the message in the music. “Pledge Allegiance To The State Of Rock And Roll” is no exception, but it’s not as celebrated as other Kiss anthems. After the Psycho Circus tour, the band basically forgot about this song. It’s never been included on any hits records (except 20th Century Masters Volume 3) and it never gets pulled out for concerts. Such a powerful anthem would have the crowd on their feet immediately, and Kiss should think about opening the show with this song on their next tour.
2. I (Believe In Me ) (From Music From The Elder)
An amazing song that finds Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons trading vocals, “I” would have been a huge hit if it wasn’t released on an album that received no promotion and was never toured behind. While most critics and fans wrote Music From The Elder off as experimental, there are a lot of great gems on the album. “I” is the greatest gem of them all and needs to be enjoyed more often. If Kiss could pull this song out for their next concert, it would be a better anthem than “Rock And Roll All Night.”
1. Sweet Pain (From Destroyer)
This is one of the greatest Kiss songs ever recorded on the best album they’ve ever recorded. Yet, “Sweet Pain” gets zero recognition. The only time the band has ever attempted to play it in concert was during their 1995 acoustic convention tour. This was when Kiss would take requests on stage from the fans in attendance. The band was able to get through one verse and the chorus. Every other song from Destroyer has been performed and recorded live except “Sweet Pain.” With an amazing opening riff by Ace Frehley, a tantalizing, addictive chorus, and powerful music throughout, “Sweet Pain” is the one Kiss song that needs to be celebrated more than it is.
These songs deserve more exposure. Hopefully Kiss will think about dusting some of them off for the next tour and give them their due. For most of these songs, it’s a due that is long overdue.
MP3.com is giving you a free download of the Jane’s Addiction song “End To The Lies” today only. Get it here. “End To The Lies” appears on their forthcoming album, The Great Escape Artist, due out later this summer on Capitol Records.
JANE’S ADDICTION have just released behind-the-scenes footage from their “End To The Lies” video shoot. The Alex Bulkley (“Robot Chicken”) directed video was shot in Hollywood, CA at Studio 905 where the band members were filmed giving a live performance in front of a white backdrop so they could later be superimposed onto women’s’ bodies. Watch the clip to find out more about the concept of the video from the director and learn how it mirrors what the band is all about from guitarist Dave Navarro. “The band hails from Los Angeles, CA,” explains Navarro. “We come from the street and so I think that the combination of the angst in the song, and the street element, the artistic element and then of course the love of sexuality and sensuality fused together, is pretty much what this band has been about since day one.” Fans can watch the official video in its entirety now.

This marks the second year that the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival has joined forces with Child Find of America. “We’re incredibly honored that the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival is continuing their partnership with Child Find of America in 2011,” said Mark Delluomo, Director of Operations, Child Find of America, Inc. “Last year’s tour promoted safety and awareness as well as raising over $40,000 which went directly to program costs. All of us at Child Find are very grateful to the producers, bands and fans who so generously contributed. We’re also excited that UPROAR has given us another opportunity to let thousands of rock fans know more about us through their website, programs and press releases. Traffic to Child Find’s website and Facebook cause page spiked over the course of the tour and continues to be vigorous. Many people still don’t realize Child Find not only investigates and resolves cases, but also has programs that work to promote safety and prevent abductions. For example, we’re really proud of the Parent Help and Parent Help for Military Families programs which are designed to help dads and moms parenting apart to problem-solve their challenges – including such issues as visitation, custody and child support. The Finn-formed rock group White Flame are in the midst of working on their third studio album together with a well-known Swedish producer Chris Laney, who has previously worked with bands such as Europe and Crashdiet, just to name a few. The band will be heading to Stockholm in September for some studio time and the long awaited record will be expected to hit the stores by beginning of 2012. White Flame as a group are of the same mind-set that this collaboration is going to work as an excellent stepping-stone to enter the international music market and a fine opportunity to showcase true Finnish rock / hard rock music to the world.
For the sole reason of working on new material for the upcoming album White Flame will only play two festival gigs in Finland this summer before heading to the studio. Preliminary discussions on an album release tour in Sweden are on the works and there are also plans to head out to Europe once again soon after the actual release date.
White flame has previously released the albums Yesterday’s News (2007) and Tour Bus Diaries (2009) in Europe, and a compilation album called RockHard (2009) in Japan.

New York Hard rockers BLACK WATER RISING’s self-titled debut album is now available in Europe on Metalville Records. The album which was released this week in a special digipak edition, is a collection of soul baring, angst ridden, riff heavy material that is proudly anchored in the foundations of traditional hard rock song writing. Its giant guitar driven monster riffs are served up on a bed of crushing grooves with soaring melodic vocals and big hooks.
Lyrically, the message is socially and politically driven by the dark times we live in. With darkness seemingly growing by the day, BLACK WATER RISING is a name that fits this band like a glove.
Drummer Mike Meselsohn is psyched that BWR’s debut album is receiving its long awaited European release:
“Since we released the album in North America last year, there have been many requests from our fans in Europe as to when they would be able to get the record. I am glad to say it is now available to them and we look forward to coming across the pond to bring our live show to our growing legion of supporters.”
Black Water Rising is:
Rob Traynor – Vocals, Guitar
Johnny Fattoruso – Guitar
Mike Meselsohn – Drums
Oddie McLaughlin – Bass
BLACK WATER RISING’S self-titled debut release is available now in North America on Giddy Up! Records. Giddy Up! Records is a brand new label with distribution through Sony/RED. The album artwork was designed by “Mister Sam” aka Sam Shearon, the renowned artist from England who has done work for Rob Zombie, Godhead and ESP guitars.

About Drive A:
Sometimes a chance meeting is more than it seems – in the case of Drive A, a random moment ignited a fuse resulting in a incendiary new band. Songs about rebellion, crunchy guitars and killer hooks have their foundation in old school punk and rock n’ roll that the band reveres but their stage presence and delivery is fresh and in the now. With a fan following that is expanding exponentially, it’s clear that the band is onto something. Drive A come roaring into 2011 with their brand new album, The World in Shambles, out on Dead Conflict Records this Spring.
The World in Shambles is the follow up to their debut album Loss of Desire (2009). The critically acclaimed album which featured singles “Are You Blind” and “Can’t Sleep It Off” set the precedent for Drive A’s form of high energy rock n’ roll and provided the soundtrack for their energetic live show. Frontman Bruno Mascolo explains “although we’re still proud of Loss of Desire, we feel we’ve come along way as musicians and songwriters, you can hear that we’ve played about 200 shows since our last record.” The band freely admits that their singular mission upon entering the studio was to craft an album that bottled their firecracker live energy and onstage prowess. They collectively rejected polished, computerized techniques and technologies in favor of beautiful, genuine imperfections, all of which serve to make The World in Shambles that much more authentic.
“We wanted to make something that was raw, and that sounded like our band when we played live,” Bruno Mascolo said. “Songwriting is the essence of the band but playing live is how we truly connect with people, with that in mind we recorded The World in Shambles completely live, there were no click tracks, so what you hear is what we sound like. It was about capturing the energy and not trying to achieve perfection.”
Armed with a killer arsenal of songs, the band decided to drive their message with an image that is uncompromising and disciplined. “Today, it’s all about how you look,” Nott said. “It’s like ‘This is a metal band’ or ‘This is a rock band. People get so obsessed with what genre a band is a part of that they forget to even listen to the music. We got sick of wearing other band’s shirts on stage because people started labeling us as part of that scene. We want people to care about our music, not about what bands we like. With the new album came the new image. We wear patches with our logo and we have another patch for a character on the album, called ‘The Marked Man.'”
“He is the underdog, the guy who dwells on his problems until eventually he creates a target on himself. We have all gone through that,” Mascolo concurred. “We wear the uniforms on stage because it puts every thing on the music but we aren’t wearing meaningless patches, they hint at the message behind the band.”
The band’s logo is their take on the anarchy flag, but instead of paying lip service to the concept without ever doing anything to bring about change, Drive A hope to actually incite listeners to action. Mascolo said, “We’re not going to say ‘Fuck the government’ on stage. We want to encourage fans who are living a one-sided life, who go to school, college and then get a job and wonder if that’s it, to go after their dreams.”
On The World in Shambles the band wanted to shake up their comfort zone, so instead of working with longtime friend Dennis Hill (producer of Drive A’s 2009 debut Loss of Desire) the band recorded the album in two parts. The first session was recorded on analog equipment to tape at 1974 Studios in Silver Lake with Dave Cobb and the second session took place at Sunset Sound with Julian Raymond. Despite the band’s “Fuck You” attitude towards concepts like conformity and fitting in with a “scene,” Mascolo mentions that a current of positive energy courses through the album’s veins. “There is a positive message at the end of every song,” he admitted. “The idea of singing about a negative subject can sometimes be therapeutic, but most of the time it becomes cliché and loses the original meaning.” “Revolt!” is about Mascolo’s travels abroad, specifically in Europe, last summer. “It seemed more like a community over there,” the singer mused. “There is a real lack of community here, people are just so about themselves, but it’s not like that overseas.” The title track “Let’s Have a Wreck” is another personal song that lays its cards face up on the table. Mascolo revealed that the song is about “having an addiction to destroying situations or relationships,” a construct that all of Drive A’s fans are able to connect with.
The California quartet formed after singer/guitarist Bruno Mascolo and guitarist Jason Nott ran into each other one night outside of Hollywood’s Troubadour in 2006. Bassist Taylor Knowles joined the band after seeing them open for Set Your Goals in Orlando. He became a fan based on their live performance and when the bass player position opened, he got in touch through the wonders of social networking and secured his slot in the rhythm section.
Drive A has steadily built a following of fans by touring with the likes of Alkaline Trio, The Used, Atreyu, Bullet For My Valentine and Escape the Fate over the past two years. It’s the band’s onstage power that has attracted an alliance of kids that continue to multiply with every tour. Nott summed up the band’s relationship with their fans and the crowds, saying, “We’re a breath of fresh air for them. We’re only a couple years older than the kids listening and they can relate.”
Drive A’s hungry guitar snarl meshes with power chords that take up residence in your head for weeks at a time and surprisingly mature songwriting that reveals equal parts pathos and animosity towards the status quo. The World in Shambles is proof that Drive A are well on their way.

Veteran guitarist, Rowan Robertson has joined the ESP Guitars family of artists, including, Metallica’s James Hetfield, Children Of Bodom’s Alex Laiho, Pepper Keenan from Down and his own bandmate Jeff Duncan. Rowan was introduced to ESP by Jeff Duncan while recording DC4‘s new CD Electric Ministry.
“One of his guitars was in the studio and I picked it up – I was instantly hooked”, Robertson says. “Aside from the great quality of the instrument and the playability, the ESP staff are great people. What’s not to love? I’m thrilled to be accepted into the family!”
Rowan can be seen demonstrating an ESP at THIS link.
L.A. Hard Rockers DC4 are all pumped up for the release of their latest ass-kicking record Electric Ministry! Electric Ministry will be released on CD via Metal Blade Records in Europe on July, 29 (G/A/S), August, 1 (rest of Europe)!
In collaboration with Metal Blade Records DC4 have launched a landing page where you can check out pre-order options and listen to XXX, the first single taken off the new album Electric Ministry! Please surf over to http://www.metalblade.com/dc4 to check it out!
“Welcome to the alter of conviction” snarls DC4 frontman and guitarist Jeff Duncan as the band launches into the title track from their fourth release, Electric Ministry. Tackling subjects such as being on the wrong side of Johnny Law (“25 To Life”), the ultimate male specimen (“Rock God”) and the pleasures of the flesh (“XXX”) the quartet blast through eleven tracks on the opus produded by Bill Metoyer and co-produced by Jeff Duncan.
Metoyer, who has worked with the likes of Armored Saint, Fates Warning, WASP and Slayer amongst countless other bands, is basically a member of the DC4 family. “I first met Bill when he engineered Armored Saint’s ‘Revelation’ album,” says Jeff. “Before long he started showing up at DC4 shows, checking us out. And he kept showing up more and more, it kind of became more than just showing up to see your friend play, ya know? So, we started talking and when the opportunity came up for us to work together he just jumped on board.”
“We made a point of making Electric Ministry a real guitar album. Back to our roots as guitarists.” says Rowan Robertson. “I think on our last album ‘Explode’ we still had a bit of that 90’s feel in us so we’ve gotten rid of that now.”
”This was the first time we had any special guests appear on a DC4 album,” relates, Jeff. “We had Dizzy Reed from Guns N Roses provide keys on the songs “Dirty Hands” and “The Ballad Of Rock and Roll”, Gonzo from Armored Saint played percussion on several tracks, also. Then we had our cousin, Erin Duncan, do backing vocals on ‘The Ballad Of Rock´n´Roll’ and Juliette Primrose (Michael Flatley’s Lord Of The Dance) played violin on “The Ballad Of Rock and Roll” as well.”

Supagroup has been delivering an amazing, explosive, and most of all fun live show for over a decade now. They’ve toured the world with many of their rock and roll heros, like Alice Cooper, who said this about Supagroup; “These boys are the first band I¹ve had open for me since Guns N’ Roses to get a standing ovation every night. It takes charisma to make it in rock and roll, and these kids have it in spades”.
Supagroup has made critically acclaimed, commercially successful Rock and Roll records, including the last one, Fire For Hire, which spawned two top forty hits with the songs “What’s Your Problem Now?”, and “Jailbait”. Their new record “Hail! Hail!” drops 7/19/11, and early reviews have placed it alongside such all-time greats as Jimi Hendrix’s Are You Experienced?, AC/DC’s Back In Black, and Guns N’ Roses Appetite For Destruction.
In a world that seems to have forgotten about rock and roll, Supagroup has proudly carried the flag, keeping the rock and roll fire alive and burning through the Rap Rock, Kiddie Pop, and American Idol era. In other words, they’ve done it all, haven’t they?
Says Supagroup’s front man and co-creator of Amped!, Chris Lee, “Actually, we wanted to do something different this time around. We wanted to promote Hail! Hail! in a new way, and we also wanted to show people what it’s really like to be in a rock band, right now. We have so many great stories from the road, and we live in such a crazy world where amazing stuff- both good and bad- happens to us all the time.”
“We thought, ‘wouldn’t it be great if we could tell some of the stories in a TV show?’ So that’s exactly what we did” says Supagroup lead guitarist, co-writer and star of Amped!, Benji Lee.
The brothers Lee recruited their old friend Anthony Dominici, a showrunner for TV series like Amazing Race, America’s Top Model, Extreme Home Makeover to direct Amped!

Japanese rockers X Japan have released a new video for their song “Jade”. This song is from the band’s U.S. debut which will be released later this year. Check it out!
Hailing from Scandinavia, XorigiN is the newest addition to the Frontiers Records ever expanding roster of artists and will release their debut album entitled “State of the Art” on August 23rdin North America and August 26th in Europe.
The band was originally named Orange Crush and was formed in Los Angeles in 1999, while the members where studying music at the Musicians Institute. The founding members Johannes Stole(vocals) and Daniel Palmqvist (guitar) later returned to their home countries of Norway and Sweden and continued collaborating on various projects in between their other engagements. Johannes is currently a sought after session singer/artist in Oslo, Norway and has released 2 critically acclaimed albums with progressive rock band Slaves To Fashion. Daniel has released a well received instrumental solo album, appeared as a session guitarist on a number of albums and is the former guitarist for the band The Murder Of My Sweet.
Melodic hard rock with a modern edge would be a fitting description of XorigiN’s music. Musically they draw on influences such as Toto, Giant, Journey and Yes (“90125”/”Big Generator” era) to name a few, but still keeping their own personal sound and musical identity intact. Strong melodies, well crafted songs and catchy vocal arrangements are their trademark. “It is our version of what AOR should sound like, catchy melodic tunes with rocking guitars and big hooks!”, says Johannes, “Our musical influences definitely shine through, but there’s also something uniquely ours mixed in there as well” adds Daniel.
“State of the Art” was produced by Daniel Flores (Mind’s Eye, The Murder of My Sweet) and promises to put the band on the radar of all the classic Melodic Rock fans! You will certainly hear more from these guys “We’re in this for the long run and are already writing for the next album” says Stole while Palmqvist adds “Hopefully the album will be well received and we certainly have a wish to take these songs to the stage”.
“State of the Art” includes the following songs:
Can´t Keep Running; Crying For You; In The Blink Of An Eye; Too Late; Gina; This Is It; The One For Me; Said And Done; Matters To The Heart; What Love Is All About; Mend My Heart. Includes bonus videoclip Can’t Keep Running.
You can enjoy the album trailer following this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdGgf7DfEDw
“Can’t Keep Running” can be streamed and listened to in full on the Frontiers Records web radio: www.frontiers.it/webradio

SoulMotor’s Brian Wheat and Darin Wood expose Mexican drug bust by being in the
Wrong Place …at the Right Time!
New CD, Wrong Place …at the Right Time available at iTunes this coming Monday, June 28
Pre-orders available now.
Controversial NC-17 rated version “Down in Mexico” now on SoulMotor.com
SoulMotor bassist Brian Wheat, along with lead vocalist, songwriter and video director Darin Wood have documented a drug deal gone bad “Down in Mexico,” by being in the Wrong Place …at the Right Time.
Available on iTunes this coming Monday, June 28, the digital CD release can be pre-ordered here and now at: http://bit.ly/mbdvZv
The fictitious drug deal and more are stories set to song are all part of SoulMotor’s upcoming CD, Wrong Place at the Right Time.
Wheat and Wood have created a cast of characters including the more-than-shady Reefer-Man Sam who appears on both “Down in Mexico” and the title track. This low-life has double-crossed the FBI, double-crossed the Mob and has even double-crossed his mom. A knife fight results in murder and Sam heads south of the border with a suitcase full of cash, a .45 in the glove box and a few tabs of mescaline playing pinball in his brain.
Along the way, Sam picks up more bad news in a tight dress by the name of Lola De La Mota and by the time he reaches Mexico, he’s seduced by The Chick With No Name, ambushed by the cops and gets his own music video directed by none other than SoulMotor lead singer Darin Wood.
In addition to the aforementioned tracks “Down in Mexico” and the title song, “Wrong Place At The Right Time”, the other nine remaining tunes and characters on Wrong Place at the Right Time include the following.
Mopar Charlie. Listen and learn …and drive a fast car.
“5 Megatons of Love”
A bank robbery in space. And you thought it was a ballad.
“Bones In The Rosegarden”
Convicted Sacramento, CA serial killer, Dorothea Puente buried her borders in the backyard of her home. Read up, listen up and know some things just can’t be made up.
The classic Cars track.
“Get To Know Me”
Homage to Howlin’ Wolf with a little help from hallucinogenics.
“High Noon in Hell”
The devil wears cowboy boots …and makes a Western.
“Warlord of 16th Street”
Darin’s alter ego. Not to be confused with
Brian Wheat’s mom passed in ’06 and she continues to visit him.
“Burn Down The Disco”
There’s only so many times the misfit that gets picked on gets picked on one time too many. Some may call this a torch song.
Wheat produced and engineered Wrong Place …At The Right Time
at his J Street Recorders that turned out to be the very last production ever done within the walls of the studio. A fire in September of 2010 destroyed J Street. Wheat is in the process of building a new studio, tentatively called The Trax.
SoulMotor’s release is on Wheat’s newly formed custom label, Good Seed Music with partner Brian Clausman, a career-long marketing pro with a history of success stories with some of the leading brands in the U.S. including Seagram Beverage Company, Dannon Yogurt, Tropicana, P&G, PepsiCo, WalMart, Home Depot, CVS and many more. Many years prior, Clausman’s dad owned a management company that signed three artists including …Tesla.
The controversial NC-17 rated version of the video for “Down in Mexico” is available now for viewing on SoulMotor.com. An R-rated version will be available shortly for purchase on iTunes and can be viewed on YouTube at http://bit.ly/izhsC7
Wood created the SoulMotor CD package, accompanying series of artwork and cast of characters related to the SoulMotor project. Some of the characters have already been introduced to SoulMotor’s followers on the band’s Facebook page, with more to be rolled out in the coming weeks.
Wood has over 15 years experience writing, directing, producing and editing film and video projects, as well as experience in exhibition. His background includes cartooning and graphic design, and for your horror film fanatics, Darin is a writer, director and producer of horror films and writes all of the stage shows for the Trash Film Orgy Film Festival.
While many are familiar with Wheat and his multi-platinum Tesla roots, SoulMotor is a departure, with one journalist describing SoulMotor as ‘pounding riff-rock’ along with a ‘crushing rhythm section.’
SoulMotor was born under a full autumn moon in the city of Sacramento, California, home of Wheat, Wood and the former home of Father of the Year, former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Spawned by a fusion of shadowy symbolism and a dark ejaculation of rhythm, the creation crawled forth and began to kiss the universe with sound. SoulMotor would like to remind you, if you’re at the “Wrong Place…At The Right Time!” then you’re already there and hopefully, with the CD on pre-order.

As reported yesterday by the Nashville Cream, the domestic abuse case against the former KISS guitarist VINNIE VINCENT (real name Vincent John Cusano) have been temporarily “retired.”
Vincent has just issued the following statement:
I thank you for helping me face my darkest struggle.
You were there during my loneliest time when I was hopelessly lost with no direction. You were there to help me keep the last of my faith from breaking. Your message of love became the moments that I will always remember. VV
I am happy to announce that all charges alleged against me were dropped and the case dismissed. Unfortunately and very sadly I was falsely charged.
I am also happy to announce the Doublev.forumco.com is reopen.
Everyone is welcome with the exception of, in my opinion, a very disturbed, dangerously obsessed and toxic individual, who is a former member and one time moderator of my Doublevforum who unfortunately continues to perpetuate his poisonous and fabricated stories in other avenues simply to inflict and cause hurt upon me and my family seemingly to satisfy his own agenda. I humbly ask u all 2 stay away from this cancer, for there are better and more uplifting things in life that are worth your precious time and devotion than this. I know in my heart that you are better than this. I hope to see it come to pass.
To all of the ‘truly genuine’ friends and fans who sent me their heartfelt messages of support and love during my hurting time, I will answer each of you. I ask that you give me some time.
I will see u all on the board.
I send my love to each and all of you, wherever you are in the world and to all of you who have suffered from the earthquake in Japan and Haiti, I am with you in love and spirit.”
Another seven years has passed since the release of the “The Ballads III”. Seven years of writing, recording and collecting even more emotional and melancholic songs. To keep with the tradition, the band decided to record 3 brand new tracks for this ballad compilation.
Here is a short introduction by AXEL himself to every new song in the specific running order:
WHERE THE WILD WATERS FLOW -“My own composition in the true ARP ballad style. This song is not about love, it has a more mysterious content and it captures the long and hopeless journey of human beings trying to get away from some dark nights. One can apply this to many different thoughts and situations nowadays. I definitely think that this song is one of the strongest ballads I´ve ever written with a hookline that will stick to everyone´s ears !”
HOLY DIVER – “As everybody knows, my soul mate and friend Ronnie James Dio sadly passed away last year. It was very clear to me I needed to use one of his songs to pay him tribute. It had to be a song, which was very easily recognizable as one of his tunes and therefore I picked “Holy Diver”. Of course the original track isn´t a ballad, so I decided to re-arrange the song completely and we made a Piano version out of it, featuring some Orchestra strings, a Cello and a clean and melodic guitar solo. Johnny gave his very best vocal performance and after the track was finished, there were lots of tears in some eyes…”
HALLELUJAH – “At least one of the best ballads around. Originally written and released by Leonard Cohen in 1984, it wasn´t his version giving me the idea to cover this tune. Actually it was all the good and bad performances of some TV casting show participants, who gave me the real kick to create one of the, hopefully, ultimate versions of this song. We recorded a children´s choir for this, which fits perfectly to Johnny´s emotional and soulful voice. There are 2 different versions of this track: the CD album version which features a slightly wilder guitar solo and the “Single” (and downloadable) version which features a calmer guitar solo. “
“The Ballads IV” will be released as standard version and digital download in North America through SPV/Steamhammer.
“The Ballads IV” – Tracklisting:
1) WHERE THE WILD WATERS FLOW (new song)
2) HOLY DIVER (new song)
3) HALLELUJAH (new song)
4) NORTHERN LIGHTS
5) NOBLESSE OBLIGE (Opus #5 Adagio Contabile)
