With a warm summer breeze blowing in from Caribbean Sea, Bad Company rocked my summer vacation with an excellent set of live tunes that seemed perfect for the sand, and surf I enjoyed earlier this month in Mexico. No, Bad Company didn’t play on the beach I vacationed at (although that would have have been extremely cool). On April 2010, Bad Company performed live at the Wembley Arena in London. This excellent live show was captured not only on CD (sold separately), but on DVD and Blu-ray as well.
Live At Wembley catches Bad Company in fine form. The ageless Paul Rodgers sounds every bit as invigorating as he did on Bad Company’s 1974 debut. I couldn’t have picked a more perfect set of Bad Company tunes if I chose the set list myself. This live CD has all of the band’s hits, and the audio captured from this performance is near soundboard quality.
Bad Company’s Live at Wembley is easily one of the best live CD’s I have heard in 2011. If you are a fan of band, you owe it to yourself to check this out!

In a music industry of happy smiling scene bands that are predominately size zero boys that may or may not be just out of nappies, Knock Out Kaine remain unfashionably cool with their middle digit firmly raised to the trend setters & followers alike.
Winning KERRANG!’s Best Unsigned Live Act 2007/2008 was an acknowledgement that the band had their live performance down, they have spent most of 2009/2010 touring both in the UK and in Europe. Their brand new EP “KANDYKAINE” was recorded in June 2010 at Chapel studios. 2011 is set to be Knock Out Kaine’s debut to the wider world. This band represent the very essence of the Rock N Roll eulogy.
From the Nasty n’ sleazy “Little Crystal” to the out and out Rock N’ Roll Monster “Set The Night On Fire” Knock Out Kaine proudly stand for decadence, rebellion and having a damn good time!

What started out as a fully instrumental project by ambitious guitar picker Honza Kirk Běhunek in the mid-90s has now grown into a paramount example of modern, both melodic and tough Heavy Metal. With Lukáš Písařík they’ve found a frontman with a voice as suitable as could be for SEVEN. The band’s founder Kirk remembers the discovery of their new singer enthusiastically: “Lukáš entered the room for audition and from the very first moment on I knew that he was the right one for us – he who we’ve always been searching for!“
Convince yourselves – today by the downloadable sample and from September 2nd on by the album, when it’ll be brought into stores via Nuclear Blast!

Legendary progressive rockers, YES, have released their first album in ten years, Fly From Here. The album bows at #9 on the Billboard Rock album chart and #35 on the Billboard Top 200 Current Album chart, respectively. Released on July 12th through Frontiers Records in the USA, the long-awaited 20th studio album is the follow-up to 2001’s Magnification and marks the band’s return to working with legendary producer, Trevor Horn. Horn was at the production helm for the band’s chart-topping album, 90125 and also sang for YES on the Drama album in 1980. YES also recently released the music video forfirst single “We Can Fly”. The video was directed by award-winning filmmaker Ken Horn (BAFTA- andEmmy-Award winner for the BBC series “The Street”) and features a guest appearance by Trevor Horn. The video builds upon the existential aeronautic theme developed in the song’s lyrics. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKJwXLCnBKs.
The band recently kicked off their summer tour on July 4th in Philadelphia. In support of Fly From Here, YES will be performing new music as well as hits from their hugely successful and indelible catalogue of music. The 22-city tour ends August 3rd in Mountain View, CA.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of URIAH HEEP’s ” Live in Armenia” 2CD+DVD package on September 23rd in Europe and September 27th in North America.
In October 2009, Uriah Heep released their 40th Anniversary ‘Celebration’ album, containing new studio recordings of 12 of their most successful, classic tracks, plus two brand new songs. This recording heralded an exciting new phase for the band, taking their classic sound right into the future.
The band hit the road to celebrate 40 years at the top and opened new frontiers in Eastern Europe, Australia, South Africa, Japan and America. The band has played 53 different countries in total. The band’s motto has always been “if the people cannot come to see and hear Heep music, we will take it to them” and based on that when the band was invited to play for the first time in Armenia, they did not think twice and went for it. So when the band agreed they were approached by TV and film crews to document this concert which shows an epic performance and an incredibly strong and powerful audience reaction.
“It was unique because it was a first for us, and the fact that our music meant so much to so many people, was just wonderful” says Mick Box. “It cannot get any better than that. There were some technical problems to overcome, as we played on hired equipment, but the emotion of the night won through, and if asked, we would indeed go back and play again”.
Uriah Heep, who indisputably invented Hard Rock in conjunction with Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, have sold in excess of 30 million albums since their inception in 1969. From their early incarnation as The Gods and Spice, through record breaking tours, gold and platinum selling albums, timeless chart scaling anthems and a fiercely dedicated fan base of worldwide proportions, Uriah Heep can rightly claim to be one of the greatest U.K. Progressive Heavy Rock bands of both the 20th and 21st centuries.

It’s been a long wait for American and Canadian fans…but come this October guitar legend Yngwie Malmsteen will make his triumphant return to North American stages with a Fall headlining tour. In support of Malmsteen’s latest release, RELENTLESS, the trek will kick off on Thursday, October 13th at New York City’s Irving Plaza. Please see below for the itinerary, more dates will be announced shortly. Of the upcoming dates, Malmsteen commented, “I am very much looking forward to playing new pieces from RELENTLESS, as well as Malmsteen classics. Fans can expect the unexpected… I raise the bar with every performance I do and this tour will be no different.” In other Malmsteen news, baseball fans will soon get a treat as the guitar legend is scheduled to not only perform his explosive version of the National Anthem, but he will also throw out the first pitch at the Florida Marlins home game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, August 6th.
Released late last year, Yngwie Malmsteen’s aptly-named latest album, RELENTLESS, contains more than 60 minutes of new material and showcases the guitar great at his best with the signature virtuosity and mind-blowing technical speed for which he has come to be known. The album also features striking vocals from Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth), who first collaborated with Malmsteen on 2008’s critically-acclaimed PERPETUAL FLAME (Malmsteen’s first album for the Rising Force Records label). RELENTLESS has received rave reviews from both critics and fans alike. Malmsteen recently graced the February cover of Guitar Player, with the magazine avowing, “RELENTLESS continues the guitarist’s long string of insane, epic and jaw-dropping releases.”
For nearly three decades, Grammy-nominated Swedish guitar icon Yngwie Malmsteen has been amazing audiences with dazzling technical speed and ability. Malmsteen’s signature style of playing, which combines elements of seemingly disparate styles of music – metal and classical, spawned the now commonplace genres of heavy metal known as “shred guitar” and “neo classical” and earned Malmsteen the title “the Paganini of heavy metal”. Malmsteen was the first guitarist to have his own Fender signature guitar model (even before Eric Clapton). He has graced the cover of more than 200 magazines worldwide, has won every guitar award imaginable and to date, has sold millions of records. Time recently named Malmsteen one of the “Top Ten Greatest Electric Guitar Players”, an honor he shared with the likes of Les Paul, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. “Guitar Hero” enthusiasts know they have arrived when they are bestowed with the Yngwie Malmsteen award in the Xbox 360 version of “Guitar Hero 2”. The award signifies a 1000+ note streak in succession.

Veteran Canadian metal quartet KITTIE will release a brand new record entitled “I’ve Failed You” on August 30th, 2011 via eOne Music. For this effort, the band enlisted the talents of Siegfried “Siggy” Meier at Beach Road Studios in Goderich Ontario who took on producing rolls.
A brand new track called “We Are The Lamb” and has debuted today at NOISECREEP.COM, the band recently shot a video for said track last month in New York. “‘We Are The Lamb is the first single and is about as musically devastating as we get. It is a tale of self sacrifice, to give those you love a chance to grow and learn to live for themselves. I cannot express to you how proud of this album we are. ‘I’ve Failed You’ is real, honest, angry and ugly” says front woman Morgan Lander.

Derek Sherinian’s new solo album ‘Oceana’ is released Monday September 5th by the Music Theories Recordings label via the Mascot Label Group.
If this were the 1970’s, the heyday of such keyboard titans as Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord, Sherinian would be among that elite circle of players who were superstars back in the day when such talent was not only appreciated, but celebrated in popular music. This is, however, 2011, and in this age, Derek Sherinian is the premiere rock keyboardist of his generation, a member of the supergroup Black Country Communion, a former member of Dream Theater, and a solo artist in his own right.
Sherinian has played keyboards with artists including Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen and KISS. In addition to being a former member of Dream Theater, Sherinian was also a member of the prog rock band Platypus, and the founder of the progressive fusion metal band Planet X.
‘Oceana’ is mixed by legendary drummer Simon Phillips (whose drumming credits include Toto, The Who, Jeff Beck, 10CC, Roxy Music). Phillips also plays drums on the entire album.
Steve Lukather collaborates with Sherinian on ‘Mulholland’, ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Seven Sins’, while former Planet X guitarist Tony MacAlpine performs on ‘Five Elements’ and ‘Mercury 7’. Steve Stevens is featured on ‘Ghost Runner’ and the title track, while Black Country Communion band-mate Joe Bonamassa performs on ‘I Heard That’. Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake) performs on ‘El Camino Diablo’, and Jimmy Johnson plays bass on all tracks with the exception of ‘Ghost Runner’ and ‘Oceana’, which both feature Tony Franklin.
Favouring a guitar heavy rock based approach to fusion ala Jeff Beck, Sherinian’s music creates a certain energy that comes through the recordings, setting him apart from other jazz fusion artists. His music also appeals to fans of technical heavy metal. Thanks to his relentless touring schedule with a wide range of well-known artists, Sherinian easily adapts to ever changing musical genres, while always maintaining his signature style.
FLYING TIGERS features twelve new tracks and expands on the band’s traditional heavy metal blueprint, with songs ranging from fist-pumping NWOBHM-style anthems, through the arena rock power of “Starchild”, to a six-track epic concept piece featuring science-fiction and philosophical elements tied together with a progressive vibe.
FLYING TIGERS features the core WHITE WIZZARD line-up of bassist, songwriter and founding member JON LEON, drummer GIOVANNI DURST and studio vocalist WYATT ANDERSON, who featured on the band’s debut album, OVER THE TOP. The album was once again recorded with producer RALPH PATLAN in Phoenix, Arizona.

“FULL CIRCLE” IN STORES JULY 26TH IN NORTH AMERICA ON METALVILLE RECORDS
THE QUILL is set to release their first album in over five years on Metalville Records. “Full Circle” will be available Tuesday July 26th. Recently the band sat down and put together a track by track breakdown of “Full Circle”:
1. SLEEPING WITH YOUR ENEMY: Musically, this was the song that led the way to the album. When I came up with it I just knew THE QUILL was back! Musically, it contains all ingredients that a QUILL tune should have. The lyrics deal with all the choices you have to make in life and all the anxiety that goes with them. On judgment day you’ll know if you’ve been sleeping with your enemy. /Christian-Guitar.
2. FULL CIRCLE: When Jolle and Chris first played me their idea for this song I just couldn’t believe my ears. The original verse was crap, but man, the chorus! Goddamn THE CHORUS. I’m a total sucker for a) the simple and b) the unexpected, and this fulfills both demands. The simple, but powerful, four stomps on the open E-string, and the straight forward melody. The new verse is a mish mash of different, older, ideas and is a killer. This song is a killer, period. /Rob-Bass.
3. BLACK STAR: The first idea for the song came up when I saw The Cult in Stockholm last year. The crowd went crazy when they started out with the song ¨Rise¨ and I thought; ¨God I really need to write a song like this! ¨ I came home and did just that! The lyrics however came along in a process like it usually does with me – based on self-experience. Whereas most people would go to psychiatrists, I chose to write a song and the result became the lyrics for ¨Black Star¨. The truth is I really met “a captain of a different kind” – a black star – that dragged me down. Somebody who I depended on looked up to and trusted. But in the end this person was just playing with me and actually threatened my life in many different ways. As you see I got out of it with my life in one piece and I just felt like sharing it with you guys. Remember – don´t you ever take shit from anybody! /Jolle-Drums
4. MEDICINE: If THE QUILL ever wrote a song that’s anything like a quarter mile drag-race, “Medicine” is it. Full throttle from the beginning to the end, with only a short, suggestive pit-stop in the middle. We need that break, believe it, if not just to have a breather… /Rob-Bass
5. BRING IT ON: The lyrics deal with my contempt for people who look down on others. Bullies, wiseacres, some religious fanatics, people pretending they are something they´re not etc. Most of the time it’s just words, a false facade cos´ deep down they’re just insecure and scared that someone will discover that they’re just tiny, scared little rabbits with no self-esteem. /Christian-Guitar.
6. RIVER OF A MOONCHILD: This was probably the easiest one to record in the studio, but sometimes it happens. I wrote the song with an acoustic guitar so for me it was a “singer/song writer” song at first. Had to totally improvise the drum tracks and guess what, we kept the first take in the studio. Also, Rob did the same with the bass, so I guess sometimes it just figures itself out. But it didn’t come alive until Magz put the vocals on; he really blew the band away and lifted the song with the way he sings it. /Jolle-Drums
7. 24/7 GROOVE: Was originally written in another groove – Shuffle – but it didn`t work out the way I hoped for. This song is the most straight forward song on the album, but it was probably the most complicated song on the album to arrange. Christian and I actually arranged the final part of the song in the studio 20 minutes before we recorded drum tracks and rhythm guitar. Sometimes you got to think with your heart instead of your head. The lyrics are like “Black Star” built on self-experience and could be regarded as a part II of “Black Star” – living around talented and beautiful people who think they are the centre of the universe. /Jolle-Drums
8. WHITE FLAG: This is one of the rare songs on the album that we played with the string instruments dropped to C. That might, or might not, mean something to you. But for me, personally, the idea of dropping to C is a big no-no 95 percent of the time. Half the songs you hear dropped that low are totally meaningless and/or sound like crap… Anyway, we chose to try it on “White Flag” and the result is a both intense yet desperately heavy sound. I like it a lot. But let me tell you, few riffs suits the floppy C. So tread easy, kids. /Rob-Bass.
9. PACE THAT KILLS: This track is one of my (many) favorites on the album. Love the funky intro-riff and the way it returns at the end of the song. And the verse, man… whoa! Ok, it’s got an Alice in chains-vibe to it, but hey, not a bad reference, alright? The chorus is one of the cleanest and most straight forward we’ve done in a while. The lyrics are inspired by an old movie-poster I found in NYC years ago. Cool! /Rob-Bass.
10. NO EASY WAY OUT: We finally managed to write a ballad type song that doesn’t sound like an eighties power-ballad, at least I don’t think so. It was also great fun to do a Gary Moore-ish type of guitar-solo. It took many hours in the studio to find the right approach and feeling and create the sounds that I had in my head while writing it. It turned out great, one of my favorites. /Christian-Guitar.
11. RUNNING: Imagine, just imagine, the intro going off in front of thousands and thousands of fans at some badass festival on a sunny summer evening. Imagine the wind in your hair (yeah IMAGINE, in my case) and the roar from the audience as the bass and drums come rolling in from the hills on the horizon. Goosebumps, man! This song is what dreams are made of. /Rob-Bass
12. MORE ALIVE: This song will stay in my heart for as long as I live. The lyrics are written by a friend of the band, a young man that sadly decided this life wasn’t for him anymore… The lyrics can be interpreted as a celebration of life – in one way, but also as an example of the struggle some people have to go through each and every day just to keep alive. “More Alive” also leaves me with goosebumps, but by different reasons. /Rob-Bass.
13. WAITING FOR THE SUN: The first time we rehearsed with Magz we jammed on some stuff that we had sent him demos of. It worked out really well as you probably understand, because he joined that band! Anyways, after an hour or so we thought we’d give him a challenge and presented a totally new song – this one. We only had the title and the melodies for the chorus. We jammed around with it and he came up with the melodies on spot and later put the words to it. We knew he was right! /Christian-Guitar.

I must admit that after hearing the opening track, “Growin’ Up In California,” from the latest Night Ranger disc, I was a little disappointed. It appears that Night Ranger was listening to Motley Crue’s Saints Of Los Angeles a little too much before hitting the studio to record Somewhere In California. Their history of Hollywood and playing the early clubs is a clear rip off of the Crue’s “Down At The Whiskey”. It’s unfortunate, because the rest of Somewhere In California is classic Night Ranger and a boatload of fun.
The overall sound on Somewhere In California is vintage, mid-80s Night Ranger. The band was able to travel to their best known period of work and conjure up the golden sound from back in the day. With themes of women, good times, and rock and roll Somewhere In California harkens back to the carefree, easy days of the 80s that most people may have forgotten.
At the heart of the vocals on Somewhere In California is Jack Blades, still singing his ass off after all these years. And while Blades’ voice may sound a little older, it doesn’t take away from what Night Ranger set out to accomplish. Older doesn’t mean worse; it just means aged, like a fine wine. Blades’ voice is in exceptional form, it just lacks the power that was there 20 years ago, and that should be expected.
Guitarist Brad Gillis can still play guitar at a very high level and the solos on songs like “Growing Up In California” and “Say It With Love” prove that. Gillis and guitarist Joel Hoekstra play off each other well, and the addition of Eric Levy’s keyboards acting as a third guitar at times, blends the music together beautifully. Not many bands know how to integrate the keyboard sound into their rock songs, but Night Ranger pulls it off effortlessly and effectively.
If you were a fan of Seven Wishes or Big Life, you are going to fall in love with Somewhere In California. This is classic Night Ranger the way we remember them and the way they were meant to sound. The high flying fun stands out throughout the album and while there is the expected (and almost required) ballad of the album, for the most part, Night Ranger has decided that it is better to rock out. And since they do it so well, who are we to argue? If you’re searching for that 80s sound that will have you reaching for your Aqua Net and acid washed jeans, get yourself a copy of Somewhere In California.

Tesla has just released their new album Twisted Wires and The Acoustic Sessions, which feature the last recordings with original member Tommy Skeoch. The album is composed of 6 tracks that were recorded back in 2005 at bassist Brian Wheat’s J STREET RECORDERS studio and 6 newly recorded tracks which include acoustic remakes of songs from their entire catalog as well as two brand new tracks called “Second Street” and “Better off Without You.”
Twisted Wires and the Acoustic Sessions is the follow up to 2008’s critically acclaimed album Forever More.
Scour the internet for any music related blog or website and you’ll undoubtedly stumble across a few posts with a similar theme – the slow death of rock and roll music. It seems to be a popular idea to write about these days. And the authors all utilize similar arguments: radio stations don’t carry all rock formats anymore, rock music isn’t as popular as it was in the 70s and 80s, there is no new and innovative music coming out.
Personally, I laugh at all of that. While the articles are interesting, they are about as valid as the gentleman who claimed the world was going to end this past May. Rock music is not dying, not going to die, and certainly not dead. No, folks, rock music is here to stay. Below are five of the best reasons why I feel that rock is going to be around for a long time. These are five of the best new bands to come around in the last 5 years. With their music gracing our ears, the future of rock music is safe.
Brand new to the rock music scene is New Medicine. Their first single “Laid” is a power trip of brilliance that I can’t get enough of. Packed with power chords, delicious shredding guitar solos by ax man Dan Garland, and incredibly powerful vocals by lead singer Jake Scherer, New Medicine is a force to be reckoned with. Their brand of modern age hard rock is rock music that the masses will love. The band just hit the scene this year, but as far as new bands go, New Medicine is a band that understands how to do rock and roll. With just a little bit of promotion, this band is going to go far. New Medicine is one reason that the future of rock and roll is safe.
Fronted by the gorgeous Lzzy Hale is the exceptional rock band, Halestorm. This is a band that has the sound of rock music down cold. Halestorm not only records fantastic hard rock music, but their live show is a unique, enjoyable, entertaining experience as well. Bursting onto the scene in 2009 with their major label debut, Halestorm has been receiving recognition in the rock world as one of the hottest new bands to come out in a while. Producing exceptional sound of rock music the way it’s meant to be played, Halestorm has a lot of longevity. Should their live show continue to grow in its current direction, Halestorm could take over the entire rock world in no time. Currently the band is working on the sophomore follow up to their self-titled debut. If their next studio album is as grand as their debut was, the future of Halestorm is very strong indeed.
Doing their best impersonation of AC/DC but adding their own flair, Airbourne has released two albums and both of them have been phenomenal. Airbourne combines the old school style of short, simple rock and roll rhythm with the fast beat of thrash, and a touch of the blues. The O’Keefe brothers are the backbone of the band and drummer Ryan’s fast and furious beats combined with singer/guitarist Joel’s magnificent ax work and unique voice push the band over the top. Airbourne capture the old school sleaze of Hollywood 80s rock and combine it with the blues infused sound of AC/DC on steroids. When it comes to rocking, these bad boys from Australia know how to do it best. If they continue to make albums as strong as their first two (Runnin’ Wild and No Guts, No Glory) they will continue to wield the torch for the future of rock music.
Sleaze rock at its finest—that is the pure definition of the sound of Hinder. When they released their debut album, Extreme Behavior, I was excited for the future of rock. Hinder dialed it back to old school, Hollywood Sunset Strip era of rock and added a modern flair to it. The end result was spectacular and Hinder has been getting better and better ever since. With the precise combination of hard rock anthems and power ballads, Hinder is one of the next big things. I have a feeling they will be around for a long time, and I look forward to seeing them head out on their own headlining tour in the near future. The band is poised to take over the world; it’s only a matter of time.
Pop Evil has just released their sophomore album, War Of Angels, and it is every bit as good as their debut. If you are looking for the new future of rock and roll, Pop Evil is it. Their live show is absolutely incredible, their music full of power, and their presence needs to be recognized. They are one of the best, if not the best, hard rock bands to come out in a long time. Pop Evil is exactly what rock music should sound like. Built on power and hope, Pop Evil has all the elements of an exceptional rock band. Led by frontman Leigh Kakaty, whose style emulates the great Bruce Dickinson, Pop Evil is poised to be the next great hard rock band. Within five years, Pop Evil should be headlining their own festivals. Their debut album, Lipstick On The Mirror, is one of the greatest rock records I’ve heard in ages. The recently released follow up, War Of Angels is just as strong, and Pop Evil can go as far as they want to in rock and roll. I have heard the new future of rock and roll and their name is Pop Evil.
Rock and roll is dying? I don’t think so, and these are 5 bands that will continue to dominate the rock scene for a long time to come.
A much anticipated follow up album to the successful eponymous debut of a rock band packed with successful veterans – guitar hero Joe Satriani, drummer Chad Smith, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and frontman Sammy Hagar – has garnered a bevy of buzz and rumors that the band is setting straight today with the official announcement of the album title, full track listing, release date and more: “Chickenfoot III” (not IV as previously implied), produced by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica), is set for worldwide release on September 27th from eOne Music in North America and around the world by earMUSIC/Edel in a special 3D designed package. The album’s lead single “Big Foot,” is set for release on August 2nd.
“I am very proud of the new album,” says lead singer Hagar. “We’re calling the album “Chickenfoot III” because it’s so good, the songs are so tight, it’s like we jumped right past having to make a second record.” He adds, “We’ve established a real trust, Joe and I, we truly bring out the best in one another, and that spreads to the whole band.”
“Chickenfoot III” features 10 tracks with so many moments of epiphany that one can barely take them all in on first listen. Colossal, stadium-shaking riffs abound on earth-movers such as “Alright, Alright,” “Last Temptation,” “Bigfoot,” and “Lighten Up.” Tradition meets innovation on the Nashville pop-tinged “Different Devil,” the Delta-blues flavored “Something Going Wrong” and the aching rock ballad “Come Closer.” “Come Closer” marks a dramatic twist in that singer Hagar wrote the words first and guitarist Joe Satriani composed the music to suit the lyrics. Elsewhere, Chickenfoot tackles issues such as mortality in “Up Next” and the world’s economy in “Three and a Half Letters” on hard-as-nails cuts that rock the body while filling one’s senses. A teaser video with some music from the forthcoming single “Big Foot” can be viewed on the band’s webpage and YouTube.
Joe Bosso of MusicRadar says, “In an era when the relevance of the album as an art form is under close scrutiny, Chickenfoot comes roaring back with the perfect answer: a superlative, hook-filled rock ‘n’ roll disc that simply must be experienced from start to finish. Tough yet full of intricate textures, played by musicians at the top of their game, this is the kind of record that bands both young and old dream of making.”
“Chickenfoot III” Full Track Listing:
1. Last Temptation
2. Alright, Alright
3. Different Devil
4. Up Next
5. Lighten Up
6. Come Closer
7. Three and a Half Letters
8. Big Foot
9. Dubai Blues
10. Something Going Wrong
“Chickenfoot III” follows up the band’s 2009 self-titled debut “Chickenfoot” , which was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, topped the charts at #3 on Billboard’s Top Independent albums of 2009 and #88 in the Top 200 Albums of 2009, was supported by performances on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live, an initial sold out 9-city club test tour and rolled into a full 30-city cross-country US Tour. The band was named “Best New Band” at Classic Rock Magazine’s annual awards ceremony in London and was critically acclaimed by the likes of USA Today: “Hagar and Satriani have embedded plenty of hooks and compact solos in these tunes, and the refreshingly agile rhythm motors them along;” and Billboard: “Chickenfoot’s self-titled debut favors straight-ahead rockers like the single “Oh Yeah” or the blues-fed “Sexy Little Thing,” and Soap on a Rope” sounds like Led Zeppelin outtake sent back from the year 2019.”
WRONG PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON AMAZON DISK ON DEMAND
SoulMotor have just released a new EPK where they talk about the themes of their new record, Wrong Place at the Right Time. “‘Wrong place at the Right Time’ and ‘Down in Mexico’ were deliberate attempts at continuing to tell stories with songs,” recalls SoulMotor vocalist Darin Wood. You can watch the clip in its entirety here: http://youtu.be/pD2SmG8B_WM
Featuring Brain Wheat of Tesla fame, and creative mastermind Darin Wood, SoulMotor has also recently released a video for the song “Down in Mexico” which is included on Wrong Place at the Right Time. The controversial NC-17 version of the clip can be seen now at www.soulmotor.com.
Vocalist Darin Wood created the SoulMotor CD package, accompanying series of artwork and cast of characters related to the SoulMotor project. Some of the characters have already been introduced to SoulMotor’s followers on the band’s Facebook page, with more to be revealed in the coming weeks.
While many are familiar with Wheat and his multi-platinum Tesla roots, SoulMotor is a departure, with one journalist describing SoulMotor as “pounding riff-rock” along with a “Crushing rhythm section.”
Wrong Place at the Right Time is being released on Wheat’s custom label, Good Seed Music.
For a full history of the band check out the full-length version of the EPK here: http://youtu.be/jMSNnUlNDzo
Call it thrash. Call it hard. Call it heavy. Whatever you call it, Havok’s Time Is Up can best be described as a powerful heavy metal trip of fun. Upon hearing the opening drumbeats of “Prepare For Attack,” it’s obvious that something special, heavy, and hard is going to be displayed for the next 30 plus minutes. Blending bits of Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, and hard core punk, Havok is a delightful kick to the midsection of heavy metal mayhem. Their sophomore album, Time Is Up proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt.
The guitar work of Reece Scruggs is some of the most brilliant finger picking that I’ve heard on a metal record. The clarity of the notes at the speed he performs is mesmerizing. Undoubtedly the most stand out member (musically) of the group, Scruggs really takes guitar playing to the upper echelon of fantastic. I could sit and listen to him play all day long.
“No Amnesty” starts off with a strange sound effect before the drums and guitars kick in like the cops busting up a wild party. The pacing is unbelievable and it’s a true wonder how drummer Pete Webber’s arms don’t fall off while pounding the skins for this song. If you’ve been searching for something to bang your head hard to while thrusting your horns in the air and jumping around like a madman without a mosh pit, “No Amnesty” is the song for you.
“Scumbag In Disguise” is a great ode to those who hide their criticisms behind modern technology like Twitter and Facebook. While it could also be an ode to critics who have nothing positive to say, the message in “Scumbag In Disguise” is clear—if you’re a troll, no one cares what you have to say. With sharp, biting lyrics surrounded by an outstanding Reece Scruggs guitar solo, this is one of the best tracks on Time Is Up.
The dark, ominous intro of “The Cleric” sets the stage for the greatness that follows. If Iron Maiden were to release a thrash song, it would sound like “The Cleric.” This is the darkest (and perhaps the strongest) song on Time Is Up. The deeper meaning of the lyrics is clear once you are able to get past the fantastic music. It’s obvious that Sanchez is writing about certain world leaders and corporate CEOs. The message that their greed will do them in at the end is plain. Sung with a bit of anger, “The Cleric” is a superb song that plays to all the strengths of this band.
If you like your metal hard, heavy, and fast, then Havok’s Time Is Up is the record for you. Filled with raw power, thundering drums, and blistering guitar work, Time Is Up is one of the coolest records to come out this year. It’s fist pumping, metal screaming rock at its finest and it’s now available for your ears to enjoy exclusively.

The long drought is officially over. For all of those ANTHRAX fans who have been waiting for the band to finally release new music, ‘Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t’, the first track available from the upcoming album Worship Music, has just gone on sale at Amazon below. Worship Music is the first new studio album from Anthrax in eight years, and the first with vocalist Joey Belladonna since 1990’s Persistence Of Time. What a way for the band to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The “classic Anthrax-sounding” ‘Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t’ is a song about killing zombies, and is the one new track that Anthrax – Belladonna, guitarists Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano, drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello – has played live since they Belladonna rejoined the line-up a year ago. Anthrax offered the track as a free download last month, and fan comments in chat rooms have been overwhelmingly ecstatic.
In addition, Anthrax is revealing the CD cover artwork for Worship Music (photo above). Renowned comic book artist Alex Ross, who has worked with Marvel Comics and DC Comics and is known for his Marvels, Kingdom Come and Astro City illustrations, created the original painting for the cover. Ross also did the original artwork for Anthrax’s We’ve Come For You All and Music of Mass Destruction albums.
