It’s finally official: Running Wild are back! To the delight of his countless fans, Captain Rock’n’Rolf has announced the release of the new album, Shadowmaker, seven years after Running Wild’s last studio album, Rogues En Vogue. “My comments in spring 2009 about the demise of Running Wild were absolutely serious at the time. I really needed time out and, to be honest, couldn’t imagine even in January 2011 that I would ever feel like recording a new album again,” says Rolf. “But when I had the inspiration for a best-of album, to which I wanted to contribute four new numbers, I rediscovered how much I enjoy composing. From then on it was only a small step to record a full new studio album.”
Rock’n’Rolf has written ten new tracks for Shadowmaker, among them are the midtempo opener ‘Piece Of The Action’, the uptempo number ‘Shadowmaker’ (“roughly the same pace as ‘Angel Of Mercy'”) and the monumental eight-minute track ‘Dracula’, based on Bram Stoker’s novel and the Christopher Lee movies. “To me, Shadowmaker is a very special album because there was no pressure, timewise or otherwise. I feel it’s clearly audible that this relaxed attitude helped me to write one of the strongest Running Wild recordings of all time.”
Rock N´Rolf recaps his thoughts about the new album, the past and the future in a video message for the fans:
Shadowmaker will be released worldwide on Steamhammer/SPV in April 2012, a cooperation which the Running Wild captain refers to as “a real stroke of luck and ideal partnership“. Rock’n’Rolf: “SPV/Steamhammer are a long-established label with an experienced team, so I know that Running Wild are in good hands. Besides, my band and the record company are based in the same german city (Hannover), which can’t be a disadvantage for a smooth cooperation.”
Olly Hahn, A&R at Steamhammer/SPV, is equally delighted: “That a style-defining act such as Running Wild signed with us comes close to an accolade. Band leader Rock’n’Rolf is one of the metal scene’s last originals, and we at SPV are unbelievably proud that his choice fell on us.”
Finnish Rockers Reckless Love have released a new video for the title track of their recently released album, Animal Attraction. Check the clip below!
Five Finger Death Punch shows no signs of slowing down in 2011. The band has cranked out another tasty slab of metal with their new release, American Capitalist. Typically, I am not a fan of bands with vocalists who scream more than sing. In the case of Fiver Finger Death Punch’s singer, Ivan Moody, he does quite a bit of both. For that reason, I have found Five Finger Death Punch’s music much more to my liking. I have seen them live a few times, and they always put on a great show.
Their latest CD American Capitalist does see the band breaking any new ground, but if you have a been a fan of the band’s screaming groove metal in the past, you are going to find plenty to like on the band’s latest CD. American Capitalist is packed full of songs with screaming vocals, excellent guitar solos and plenty of blast beats to get your blood pumping.
The first two songs “American Capitalist” and “Under and Over it” starts this CD off on a high note with two massive metal anthems that will likely be a fixture in future 5FDP live set lists.
What amazes me about Five Finger Death Punch, is Ivan Moody’s ability to transition from the heavy screams and growls, in pitch perfect clean vocals. The band can craft super heavy songs like the ones I mentioned above, and then have a song like “Coming Down” or “Remember Everything” which could easily be played on the radio. Zoltan Bathory’s blazing guitar solos are second to none on this album. Between Moody’s vocals, the outstanding guitar work of Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook, and the über tight rhythm section of Jeremy Spencer and 5FDP newcomer Chris Kael, I have been greatly enjoying American Capitalist.
Is the best Five Finger Death Punch CD yet? My response to that would definitely be yes. I thought the first two CD’s were good, but I have already listened to American Capitalist more than the first two CD’s combined. If you are a fan of metal, or Five Finger Death Punch, you should definitely seek out American Capitalist. I recommend it!

Unless you’ve spent too much time at the Occupy Wall Street protests, you know that the Axl Rose version of Guns N Roses is embarking on a North American tour this fall. While this news has some fans excited, it has others wondering when the impending tour will implode, how long it will take Axl to go on a temper tantrum rage, and whether Slash T-Shirts will be allowed into the arenas.
The first thing that caught my eye after the announcement was made that Guns N Roses was going on tour this fall was the ticket prices. I immediately went online, expecting to see some astronomical cost that would immediately cause me to disqualify myself from attending any local area concerts. This would allow me the opportunity to produce a venom filled rage about how Axl was ripping off the fans and it wasn’t even the original band members.
However, when I looked online at ticket prices, I noticed immediately how affordable they were. That caught me by surprise. Ticket prices in the NY/NJ area ranged between $37 and $112 (and that includes the immoral fees that Ticketmaster adds). I could certainly afford $40 to see Guns N Roses. Ticket prices were not going to give me an excuse for an amusing rant.
That being said, there is still plenty to wonder about when it comes to an Axl Rose led tour of Guns N Roses. The first question I had was: who is in the band? Reports from the web confirm that DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot are both playing guitar and that Tommy Stinson is still on bass. While they aren’t Slash, Izzy, and Duff, they aren’t slouches either. Bumblefoot has done some amazing work on Chinese Democracy and DJ Ashba was fantastic with Sixx AM. So while it wouldn’t be the original incarnation of Guns, it’s not a bad replacement band. The band members failed to give me a good excuse to rant and rave about how I refuse to attend this show.
Okay, so maybe the ticket prices are affordable and the band members (while not the original) are solid, but the setlist can’t be great, right? It will probably consist of some Chinese Democracy songs and a couple of overplayed classics. There’s no way that Axl and the replacements would play some deep cuts from the early catalog. Well, after researching the setlists they’ve played overseas, it appears the band is digging deep on this show. If you like the classics (Welcome To The Jungle, Mr. Brownstone, You Could Be Mine, November Rain, Paradise City) they are all there. If you like the new material (Chinese Democracy, Better, Street Of Dreams), they are covered as well. And if you like the deep cuts (Estranged, Rocket Queen) they are also being played. Throw in some surprise covers and it all adds up to a magnificent setlist. Point blank honesty – I was shocked by how inviting the set looked.
Then there’s the last little bit about when the hell will the show start? Well, Axl isn’t changing his ways there, but at least they’ve warned the fans in advance. In a message posted on GnR’s Facebook page, it read the following: “Love it Hate it Accept it Debate it – You want 8 o’clock shows go find F-R-I-E-N-D-S or hit a cinema somewhere.. or you wanna be informed go catch the 10 o’clock news.. this is Rock N’ Roll!…This is Guns N’Roses and when the time is right the stage will ignite…”
All I can say is forewarned is forearmed. Bring a book. Grab an IPOD, or plan to do PLENTY of tailgating in the parking lot. Either way, don’t bother entering the building until at least 10:00PM (and even then you may be a tad early). While late start times bug the heck out of me, being warned in advance that they are going to happen makes it a whole lot easier to deal with.
So perhaps seeing the 2011 incarnation of Guns N Roses wouldn’t be that bad. What do you think? Are you going to see GnR on tour this fall?

Kiss My Amps (Live) Will Be Available at Indie Record Stores Only on November 25th as Part of the “Back To Black” Friday Record Store Day Event
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will support the coalition of independent record stores’ November 25th Back To Black Friday Record Store Day event with a limited edition vinyl-only release of live tracks from their Grammy Award-nominated album Mojo.
Kiss My Amps (Live) features 6 tracks from Mojo recorded during the 2010 Mojo Tour and also includes “Sweet William,” a b-side recorded live during the 2008 Tour and referred to at the time by Rolling Stone as their “new favorite Petty song.”
Tom Petty says, “The music on this album is the Heartbreakers at their best and we’re always happy to support vinyl and the independent record stores.”
The release of Kiss My Amps (Live) will be limited to 5,000 individually numbered pressings. Each copy will include a unique code to allow purchasers to also download the album at no extra charge in High Resolution FLAC or 320k MP3 formats.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ 2010 Mojo Tour was another exciting summer for a band who has been thrilling live audiences for the past 35 years. Each night of the 2010 Mojo tour featured a mid-show miniset of songs from the Mojo album, many of which are included on Kiss My Amps (Live).
The Chicago Tribune wrote of the band’s 2010 Mojo Tour concert in Chicago: “The communication, cohesiveness and chemistry that Petty and his mates demonstrated for 110 minutes should serve as a lesson to all musicians — particularly hoary legacy acts content to coast on their laurels.”
The day after Thanksgiving has long been the red-letter day for big-box and chain retailers. This year, for the second year in a row, indie record stores will be the center of attention among true music fans, who will find special releases unavailable anywhere else, thanks to the cooperation of some major artists and their record labels in a momentous show of support and gratitude for the independent record store community.
The second annual “Back To Black Friday,” taking place this year on November 25, is being organized by Record Store Day, a cooperative project of hundreds of independent record stores in the USA, Canada, Holland, France and Germany. Back To Black Friday follows the “bigger-than-Christmas” success of their annual April event, which in 2011 saw the participation of indie record stores around the globe.

American Idol finalist James Durbin is gearing up for the release of his Wind-Up album Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster on November 21st, and is giving fans a taste of what’s to come as he reveals the track list and first two singles from the highly anticipated debut. The anthemic lead single “Stand Up” will go to rock radio and the power-charged “Love Me Bad” will go to Top 40.
Unforgettable performances on the Idol stage with legends such as Judas Priest and Zakk Wylde led Durbin’s own “Idols” to support the rocker’s first ever release. Mick Mars of Mötley Crüe, songwriters James Michael (Sixx: A.M., Mötley Crüe) and Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Buckcherry, Ozzy Osbourne), along with Swedish rock band Hardcore Superstar. Durbin, who co-wrote five of the albums tracks exclaimed it was “surreal” to be working with this bevy of rock royalty and recalls, “When Mick Mars started shredding on his guitar I literally lost my mind.” The long-time Mötley Crüe fan continued saying, “He’s a true rock legend and he’s playing on my record. It doesn’t get any cooler than that.” Mick Mars echoed the same fervor, “It was sick to have played on James’ debut album. To be the only featured guest artist on the record was really cool as I know a lot of others wanted to be on it. James Durbin kicks ass; he’s the real deal.”
“Stand Up” is a gleaming showcase for Durbin’s signature rock-star yowl and powerful, energetic voice and the NFL agrees. It has tapped the single as its stadium anthem for the 2011 season featuring it on jumbotrons nationwide during games this fall and is featuring it on their “Game Day” EP as the song impacts radio.
22-year-old Durbin was guided throughout the making of “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster” by leading rock producer, Howard Benson. Benson (My Chemical Romance, Daughtry, Motorhead) gives Durbin room to evolve musically on the hard-hitting album, saying the opportunity to work with Durbin was “pretty simple: I loved his voice. I think he has a compelling story to tell.” Benson, who kept his eye on Durbin throughout Idol thought, “It was interesting that he spoke his mind and didn’t back down from who he was. That’s always a good sign.”
On American Idol, James Durbin waved the flag for rock and it was that devotion to rock that helped him overcome his private struggles with tourette’s and asperger’s syndrome. He touched the hearts of people everywhere while on the show, and with the release of “Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster” he is ready to wave that flag high again.

Charting rock band JUKE KARTEL fights back on breast cancer. Brightest Star is currently this year’s official campaign song for the Susan G. Komen Foundation For the Cure. When you download this song from Itunes, you will be helping fund the cure for breast cancer, as well as provide specific communities of women the resources they need for early detection. Every download makes a difference! Watch the video here:
“This song was created from a vision I had 5 months ago when our drummer Jay turned up to sound check, at the Hotel Cafe in L.A., in tears,” explains Toby Rand, singer of Juke Kartel. “He explained that his mum (Fransie) had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and it was spreading. The news really shook us and the night’s performance was memorable as Jay played through the tears. It got me thinking…music helped Jay to nurture his pain and sorrow and he used it to move an entire room full of people. So, I thought a song about Fransie and her battle would be a great way to redirect the energy and focus on recovery.

Why is it that it took until 2011 for me to find out about Crash Street Kids? I recently received Crash Street Kids latest long player Sweet Creatures, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fun rocking tunes on this CD. Judging from the cool songs on this CD, I have a lot of catching up to do with this band.
Crash Street Kids have a sound that I would describe as a blend of glam, power pop, and punk rock. Whatever genre you stick them with doesn’t matter, they excel at all of them. In their music, I hear the influence of KISS, Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper and The Beatles. Their sound may not be 100% original, but it is quite enjoyable to my ears.
Sweet Creatures is packed with catchy tunes like “Bang Bang! (Your Beautiful)”, “Sad Julia” and “Bad!, Yeah, Bad!” that I can’t get enough of. “3rd Avenue Vampires” sounds like it should have been recorded in the seventies, but it is so good that it deserves a massive amount of replays. “Mary, Queen of Rock” with its trumpets and saxophones (courtesy of Jerry Donato and Greg Varlotta) is like a breath of fresh air. “I Become Death” is a like a dark yet entertaining Cheap Trick tune. I can’t get the lyric “I become death, the destroyer of worlds” out of my head.
Overall, Sweet Creatures is a highly enjoyable listening experience. There isn’t a bad tune in the bunch!
If you want to hear something refreshingly different from the stuff that plagues most FM rock stations, give Crash Street Kids new CD Sweet Creatures a chance. I recommend it!

US Heavy Metal weights Rough Angel have announced to release their recordings from 1993. Recorded at Paramount Recording Studios, Hollywood, CA and engineered by Csaba Zvekan himself. These recordings originally intended for promoters and industry are now available for the public.
The “lava” like music is lush and heavy with aggressive vocals hovering over the music. In the “grunge” era it is a true classic and can be compared with bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Led Zeppelin.
Csaba Zvekan who remastered these recordings had to say: “It’s unbelievable how these recordings are almost two decades old and still have the power to convince the listener. The music and lyrics are still current especially these days. I got goose bumps remastering this piece of music. It definitely is a gift for all the friends and fans that are out there.”
The players on the EP are Csaba Zvekan (Raven Lord, Killing Machine, Sardonyx, Emergency) – Vocals, Jimmy Z. – Lead & Rhythm Guitars, Marc Mougavero – Lead & Rhythm Guitars, Ross Manzo – Bass Guitars, Dave Kappos – Drums
The song tracks that have been put together are as followed:
1. Standing by Mirrors
3. Let it Burn
4. Hear the Angels Rock
Rough Angel EP “Hear The Angels Rock” – official teaser:
Rock’n Growl Management signed Csaba Zvekan in March 2011 to it’s roster. So it comes to no surprise that these “lost and found” recordings will be published in close collaboration. Rough Angel’s EP “Hear the Angels Rock” will be available under Rock’n Growl Records. The digital release date is set to November 30st 2011.
On the latest release label boss Axel Wiesenauer of Rock’n Growl Records said: “I’m really excited about expanding into label work. And so it always starts with a first release. Well, here it is Rough Angel “Hear the Angels Rock”! Enjoy these great tracks”.

BEGGARS & THIEVES keep their comeback promise with
their new album “We Are the Brokenhearted”
Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of the anticipated new BEGGARS & THIEVES album entitled « We Are the Brokenhearted » on November 29th in North America and December 2nd in Europe.
Beggars & Thieves debuted on Atlantic Records in 1990 with their self-titled album, a record that was critically acclaimed with the first single appearing in the top 40 Billboard Magazine Album Rock Charts and being added to rotation on over 100 Parallel One AOR radio stations.
The change of musical climate, and the advent of grunge, halted the band’s rise to the stardom when their new label Epic Records decided not to release Beggars & Thieves second studio album “Look What You Create”, written and produced in collaboration with Jim Vallance (Aerosmith, Bryan Adams, The Scorpions, Heart, etc.).
In the late 90’s Beggars & Thieves finally independently released “Look What You Create” followed by “The Grey Album” in 1999, before going into hibernation until 2004 when the founding members – singer Louie Merlino and guitarist Ronnie Mancuso – started to play again in the Sin City All-Star’s with guitarist, Brent Muscat (Faster Pussycat) and drummer, Lez Warner (The Cult), opening shows for Tesla, Vince Neil, Ratt, Slaughter, and Skid Row. “That and the amazing internet support from the European Melodic Rock community pretty much set the stage for reforming Beggars” recalls Ronnie.
Indeed one of the highlights during the last five years was Beggars & Thieves participation at Firefest 2010 in Nottingham, UK. “I don’t think we realized that our music meant so much to so many people. The first time we played Firefest and everybody was singing the lyrics, it just blew Louie and me away” continues Mancuso. “Right from the start we had offers to do another album, but it wasn’t until I partnered up with producer/engineer Kevin Churko while he was producing Ozzy, that I knew by combining our studios and his engineering and mixing skills, we could make an album that competed on the level of anything being released at the time”.
The resulting new album « We Are The Brokenhearted » promises to firmly position the band on the map for all Hard Rock fans worldwide. In Merlino’s words: « We wanted to make a Pink Floyd “Dark Side of the Moon” or a U2 “Joshua Tree” and that is a huge commitment. I’m not saying we achieved it. But that was the level of passion and effort that was put into making “We Are The Brokenhearted” ». I think the new songs show our potential to be a truly classic band and we both feel strongly that this is the best work we have ever done. We just hope people get the chance and take the time to really listen and absorb this as an album: This is an album designed to be listened to as a whole entity, not in shuffle mode on an iPod ». « We Are The Brokenhearted » proves that great music is timeless. It’s as fresh as it is familiar. Merlino continues: “This isn’t just some guys trying to have a little fun reliving the past. We got a good ten years left, we aren’t messing around, we are deadly serious. We want to compete with the big boys” and with the quality of this album they just might get their chance!
We Are the Brokenhearted includes the following tracks:

“hanDover” IN STORES OCTOBER 25th ON SPV/SYNTHETIC SYMPHONY
Animal rights organization peta2 has joined forces with industrial music legends SKINNY PUPPY to offer a free download of a new SKINNY PUPPY song. The song “Wavy” comes from their new release “hanDover” which is being released October 25th via SPV/Synthetic Symphony. Get your free download of “Wavy” courtesy of peta2 HERE
Industrial Veterans SKINNY PUPPY, will be releasing their 14th studio album hanDover on October 25th in North America via SPV/Synthetic Symphony. The album can be pre-ordered HERE
hanDover, centers not only on the unbridled greed of the world’s financial organizations and the governments that enable them, but the climate of political impotence which makes people resign their fate, no matter how insidious the situation gets. In typical PUPPY form, hanDover finds the duo moving forward while still maintaining that sense of aural discovery that has been a hallmark of their 26-year career.
“It’s definitely the overarching feel of ‘bend over and take it,'” offers Ogre, only half-kidding about the album’s theme. “I recently listened to the record and it’s making even more sense to me. We’re certainly experiencing the rape of mankind as the world’s economies slide even further and the inability of people to look around them and see what’s going on. You’re starting to see a neo-feudalistic empire on the rise. People are getting so pissed off, they’re turning on each other.”
“I didn’t want to write the record the same way as the previous ones,” says Key about his m.o. on the first new PUPPY music since 2008’s Mythmaker. “I wanted there to be fresh angles, both in the songwriting and the programming platforms. I was changing the whole element of myself just to see what would happen. In the end, I made something different, but it was still coming from me. I’m not interested in looking at my accomplishments and myself. Like any electronic music fan, I look at the big question: Where is it all going?”
Aided by longtime associates Ken “Hiwatt” Marshall and Mark Walk, Ogre and Key have delivered an album that mirrors today’s cultural uncertainty. At its most jarring, hanDover feels like digital epilepsy, exchanging the band’s predilection for opaque menace for a trembling, near spasmodic discomfort. The amphetamine glitch-worship on “Gambatte,” and the mechanized percolating of “Icktums” (with the refrain of “Worship money, worship nothing”) further emulates a societal framework that’s got its foot on the gas pedal on the road toward extinction. Ogre’s twisted fable, “Brownstone” is shored up with twitching synthetics reminiscent of an orgy of hospital equipment. “Village” is an indictment of financial institutions through the prism of the ignorant populace that let them get away with the ruin. (“We’re all made to participate in it, so we’re all in collusion,” explains the singer. “It’s your typical Ogre paranoid ditty, complete with tinfoil hat.”) The seven-minute “NoiseX” weaves layers of programmed breakbeats into phase-shifted psychedelic vistas to simulate a supercomputer’s ascension into purgatory. Ambience or attack-mode, you make the call.
When considering the amount of factors contributing to today’s artist-hostile environment, one wonders why some people even bother to continue to make music. It seems Ogre and Key have far too many ideas ricocheting in their individual skulls to ever succumb to ennui or the entitlement groupthink of many of their colleagues. One of their albums was titled Ain’t It Dead Yet: But after nearly three decades of service, 14 studio albums, a plethora of remixes and all the cartwheeling through a whole lot of psychic minefields, the answer is a resounding hell, no. Because SKINNY PUPPY is one beast that cannot be tethered.

CHICKENFOOT, the supergroup featuring guitarist Joe Satriani, drummer Kenny Aronoff, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and frontman Sammy Hagar – debuts their new music video for the song “Three and a Half Letters (I Need a Job)” today.
The song, from their recent release, “CHICKENFOOT III” ( eOne Music/Edel/EarMusic) is motivated by the dismal job economy and features letters that were sent to Hagar as pleas for help. “CHICKENFOOT” is partnering with Feeding America to encourage fans to help alleviate some of the effects of the job economy. The band will perform “Three and a Half Letters (I Need a Job)” on Jimmy Kimmel Live on the evening of November 3rd.
“I received a lot of letters from people over the years who were looking for help or work and recently I received one from an Afghan War Veteran that ended with ‘Can you help? I need a job’ that just really hit me and the song came together,” said Hagar. “We really want to encourage anyone to help where they can and I think one of the easiest ways is by making contributions to their local food banks so I hope we get that message across in this video and while we are on tour.”
“I Need a Job,” directed by Arthur Rosato (Springsteen, Bonnaroo), features the real life letters received by Hagar and closes with a call to action in partnership with Feeding America. Beginning today, the band is inviting fans to post their own letters and stories to their website in hopes it will help them find employment and continue to shed light on the critical condition in America. The band is also planning on additional outreach to bring more awareness to the issue in each city on their upcoming “Road Test Tour.” While those who are better off may not be able to offer actual jobs, Chickenfoot believes that contributions to food banks in their hometowns is one simple way, among many others, that fans can help firsthand on a local level.
The band is set to embark on the recently announced “2011 Road Test Tour,” beginning November 1st at the Warfield Theatre, San Francisco. The tour will take the band (Satriani, Anthony, Hagar and touring drummer Kenny Aronoff) through five US and five European cities in support of their most recent release Chickenfoot III, which debuted on the Billboard album chart at #9. “CHICKENFOOT III”, has continued to receive critical acclaim:
“It’s a rare case of a group that’s equal to – or perhaps even greater than – the sum of its parts…this is an album that really wins hearts with its granite thump’n’roll.” – Gary Graff, Billboard.
“CHICKENFOOT III” features 10 tracks with so many moments of epiphany that one can barely take them all in on first listen. Colossal, stadium-shaking riffs abound on earth-movers such as “Alright, Alright,” “Last Temptation” and “Lighten Up.” Tradition meets innovation on the Nashville pop-tinged “Different Devil,” the Delta-blues flavored “Something Going Wrong” and the aching rock ballad “Come Closer.” Special video releases and more can be seen at the band’s webpage , as well as their podcast, YouTube, Facebook and Google+ pages. Chickenfoot III follows the band’s 2009 debut album, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 100 and was certified gold for sales of over 500,000 units by the Recording Industry Association of America.

One of the most beloved cultural milestones of the ‘60s generation and every generation since, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles gets creatively interpreted and re-imagined in this all-instrumental rendition by a guitarist whose lifelong love of this material has resulted in an album that transcends all musical boundaries and genres. Two years in the making, guitar fans, Beatle fans and everyone in-between will come together when Favored Nations Entertainment releases Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper on October 24.
“I must hip you to new music I just heard that floored me! It is, without a doubt, one of the coolest things I have ever heard…originality, as well as virtuosity, will make this the best guitar instrumental record in decades, if not ever.”—Guitarist Steve Lukather
Every song on Sgt. Pepper, including “Strawberry Fields Forever,” a tune that was originally intended to be on that album, comes stunningly and vibrantly alive. One Guitar. Bass. Drums. That’s it. Lead guitarist Andy Timmons arranged it all from memory, never once referencing the original album. This allowed him to take artistic license to travel down some of the complex paths set forth by these masterworks’ original creators. It all culminates in an extraordinary lovefest of psychedelic proportions filled with improvisation and surprise. (The new coda at the end of “Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite” is absolutely jaw-dropping.) Hint: It’s so heavy.
“Wow, what a beautiful record! Andy is such a great player! It’s done very respectfully. I think his fans and many Beatles fans will love it.”—Guitarist Steve Vai
“This is an extension of what I started on my Resolution album in 2006,” explains Timmons. “I had been playing some of these songs live and they were always received very well. The concept of trying to do it with only my guitar plus bass/drums was scary but with the help of two world-class musicians in bassist Mike Daane and drummer Mitch Marine, I was able to reconstruct this music. I’m so proud of it and can’t wait for people to hear it. I feel like I’ve come full-circle. It was natural to put this out – it was fun and it feels right.”
“I love it! Brother Andy, you’ve really raised the Barre, man! It’s so great in every detail. The tones are awesome, the arrangements true, the playing is stellar… truly unique. I think it will knock people’s heads off.”—Guitarist Tommy Emmanuel
Andy Timmons has recorded nine solo CDs of intricate guitar work; has served as Olivia Newton-John’s Musical Director for several U.S. tours and has been an in-demand studio six-stringer for the likes of Paula Abdul and Paul Stanley of KISS. He’s shared stages with Joe Satriani, Steve Morse, Ace Frehley, Ted Nugent, The Beach Boys, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, and Leslie Gore. In the early ‘90s, he sold over a million records as lead guitarist with Danger Danger. Truly, Andy Timmons is a renaissance man whose guitar work can fit any genre.
A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
The wait is nearly over! In less than two weeks legendary US metal outfit RIOT release their hugely anticipated fourteenth album ‘Immortal Soul’ worldwide via SPV/ Steamhammer in all territories except Japan.
Release dates are:
Scandinavia October 26th
Germany/Austria/Switzerland October 28th
Rest of Europe October 31st
US/Canada November 22nd
To give the fans a taste of what to expect, the song “Still Your Man” has been revealed today on soundcloud:
‘Immortal Soul’ sees TONY MOORE, MARK REALE, DON VAN STAVERN and BOBBY JARZOMBEK – the line-up responsible for the band’s hugely acclaimed ‘Thundersteel’ (1988) and ‘The Privilege Of Power’ (1990) albums – re-united once more, together with MIKE FLYNTZ who as the additional live guitarist helped bring these two acclaimed albums to life on stage.
RIOT are justifiably proud of their upcoming release. As bassist DON VAN STAVERN says: “‘Immortal Soul’ picks up where ‘Thundersteel’ left off, 20 years later! It has the same intensity, creativeness and passion that we put into our music. It’s another ball buster and I can’t wait to unleash it on the masses.”
Guitarist MIKE FLYNTZ is equally as enthusiastic. “I have been performing the songs from the ‘Thundersteel’ era for over 21 years. It has been an honour to write and record ‘Immortal Soul’ with Tony, Don, Bobby, and Mark. I am very proud of my contribution to this record and also very proud to play along with such inspirational musicians. I hope everyone enjoys this album as much as I do.”
For drummer BOBBY JARZOMBEK, “‘Immortal Soul’ is a special record for me because in all the years that I’ve been playing and recording various projects, I’ve never been completely involved in any other CD from the very first day of writing, to the very last day of mixing. I’m really looking forward to the live shows, and including some new ‘Immortal Soul’ songs into the set along with the Riot classics!”
Founding member and guitarist MARK REALE, who has been RIOT‘s guiding force since the band released ‘Rock City’ over thirty years ago, is quick to pay tribute to vocalist TONY MOORE‘s input. “To me, the close collaboration with each of our vocalists has always been the decisive aspect in any RIOT release. That’s why it was absolutely inspiring for me at the studio that Tony directly took up many of my ideas and translated them brilliantly, or contributed his own suggestions from which our songs benefited greatly. He is simply the perfect RIOT frontman!”
And as TONY MOORE himself points out, “It’s been nearly a quarter of a century since the five of us assembled in New York to create ‘Thundersteel’ and ‘The Privilege Of Power’, and the music world couldn’t be more different.
The internet led us not only to discover that those albums had taken a special place in the history of metal, but also put us back in touch – and the result is ‘Immortal Soul’, an album that is100% true to the legacy of those 1980s recordings. It’s also packed with evidence of how we’ve all grown and changed as artists. It was recorded in five studios, in three different cities, and it’s absolutely a product of the most important changes in the recording industry over the last 20 years. We’re looking forward to sharing the details with our fans and friends around the world, along with the music. Enjoy!”

Oakland, CA-based rock band Electric Sister is releasing its debut full-length record, THE LOST ART OF ROCK & ROLL, on October 25, 2011. The 9-track album includes the title single, “The Lost Art of Rock & Roll.”
With influences from the best of classic rock, punk and metal, Electric Sister attacks songs without restraint. Hard, primal, dirty; pure, raw and intense. The recklessness comes from the “nothing left to lose” background of all five guys in the band. Each has survived impactful struggles in music, in life, in relationships, and is finding redemption in the power of rock. Yet, the real specialness of each player makes the collective band a force to contend with. In less than a year, the band’s reputation as a live act has made them a go-to for venues and festivals up and down the west coast, including support slots for Danko Jones, Zeke and Lords of Altamont. Electric Sister will be on the road to support THE LOST ART OF ROCK & ROLL through 2012.
“Electric Sister is pure rock heaven.”
- Tony DuShane, SFGate
“Big arena rock riffs, the stadium moves to boot and all the schlock you could ask for. Take a Guns and Roses record, break it with an ashtray you bought at a Pantera show while doing a Rob Halford impersonation and you may wake up in Electric Sister.”
- Shannon Corr, Examiner
Electric Sister is: Thadeus Gonzalez (vocals), Jason Lucero (guitars and vocals), Nicholas Hernandez (guitars and vocals), Pete Pacheco (bass) and Eddie Colmeneras (drums). The record was produced by Electric Sister and Dennis Hill (Hagar/Satriani, Lit, Good Charlotte, Allister) and engineer Kyle Homme (Lit, Matt Costa, Sugarcult, Reel Big Fish).

Hard rock kings SINNER, who have been engaging the scene with their blistering tunes since the mid-’80s, are back with a brand new album, and are preparing to unleash One Bullet Left onto North American fans this November 8th. The usual cycle of long gap between SINNER albums is over, as One Bullet Left sees release only three years after their persuasive Crash & Burn album. Coming back hard on this album with a renewed lineup, of course you can expect the SINNER-typical guitar harmonies and a high-quality base of traditional heavy metal and honest, handmade rock, celebrated in a fresh and gutsy way. Band leader, bassist/vocalist Mat Sinner (Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle, etc.) has rounded-out the new SINNER lineup with drummer Andre Hilgers (Rage), returning guitarist Alex Beyrodt (Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle, etc.), and two additional guitarists Christof Leim (The New Black) and Alex Scholpp (Tarja, Farmer Boys)… yes, three guitarists this time. Recorded and produced in several studios in Europe by Mat Sinner, mixed and mastered then by Achim Köhler, some might say SINNER are at their very best on One Bullet Left.

This performance of Mindcrime — which will feature Maria Brink of In This Moment on vocals as “Sister Mary” — will be the band’s first of the album since the Rocklahoma festival in the summer of 2008.
“We’ve always enjoyed performing for our fans in intimate settings and the forthcoming ShipRocked cruise will certainly be one of those occasions,” states Queensryche lead singer Geoff Tate, who returns with the band for their second ShipRocked cruise. “We’re calling this one, ‘Mutiny on the Mindcrime.'”
The special performance of Operation: Mindcrime, covering all fifteen songs from the album including such fan favorites as “Revolution Calling,” “Operation: Mindcrime,” “I Don’t Believe In Love” and the closing track “Eyes Of A Stranger,” will be in addition to a greatest hits performance that will take place on another night of the cruise, which sets sail towards the Mayan Riviera on Monday, November 14th.
Maria Brink is ecstatic about joining Queensryche for the ten-minute song, “Suite Sister Mary.” “I am so excited and grateful for this amazing opportunity to sing with Queensryche on the upcoming ShipRocked cruise! All of us in the band are huge Queensryche fans, and Geoff Tate is one of the best lead singers in the business. Getting to sing ‘Suite Sister Mary’ off the original Mindcrime album is a huge honor.
