Atlantic recording group Shinedown today released For Your Sake: Inside the Making of Shinedown’s Amaryllis, the unprecedented interactive Multi-Touch book to accompany their hugely anticipated new album. “AMARYLLIS,” the multiplatinum rock group’s fourth studio album, arrives in stores and online tomorrow, March 27th.
Created with Apple’s iBooks Author, For Your Sake: Inside the Making of Shinedown’s Amaryllis is an interactive book experience that tells the official story of Shinedown’s new album with never-before-seen photos, videos and much more. Written by rock journalist Jonah Bayer and produced by Atlantic Records, For Your Sake features four sections of exclusive content, including an exploration of the creative and recording process that led to “Amaryllis,” a revealing look at the band’s interpersonal and artistic dynamic, a track-by-track dissection of the album from frontman Brent Smith (including high-quality video commentary), and a fully immersive breakdown of the album’s complex and evocative artwork by Atlantic Records Creative Director David Harrigan. Designed especially for iPad, For Your Sake offers fans a one-of-a-kind experience that both enhances and magnifies Shinedown’s already remarkable new album.
For Your Sake, Inside the Making of Shinedown’s Amaryllis is available for $5.99 on the iBookstore within the free iBooks app on your iPad or at www.iTunes.com/iBookstore.
“AMARYLLIS” is quickly shaping up as one of 2012’s major rock events. “Bully,” the album’s striking first single, has already reached #1 at Rock radio, marking Shinedown’s 7th consecutive chart-topper at the format. In addition, the track is currently ascending the top 20 at Alternative outlets nationwide. The official “Bully” companion video — directed by Darren Doane, who previously collaborated with Shinedown on the videos for such blockbuster hits as “Devour” and “Sound of Madness” — has received early adds at mtvU and Fuse’s No. 1 Countdown. In related news, a viral video for the band’s second single “Unity” recently premiered on AOL’s Noisecreep. Both clips are streaming now at ShinedownTV, the band’s official YouTube channel (located at www.youtube.com/ShinedownTV).
Shinedown will herald the release of “AMARYLLIS” with a visit to ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight. The appearance will feature the first-ever nationally televised performance of “Bully,” live from the show’s famed outdoor stage (check local listings).
Shinedown hits the road as headliners on this year’s eagerly awaited Avalanche Tour. The North American trek — presented by Zippo and produced by Synergy Global Entertainment, Inc. — begins March 27th at The Grove in Anaheim, California and then continues through late April (see below itinerary). Accompanying Shinedown on the 2012 Avalanche Tour will be Adelita’s Way, with additional support from New Medicine (March 27th – April 10th) and Art of Dying (April 12th – April 25th). For full details and ticket information, please visit www.AvalancheTour.com.
Further live dates are scheduled to continue through early summer, including headline shows, European festival appearances, and co-headline performances at a wide range of rock radio-sponsored events. For up-to-the-minute news and information, please visit www.shinedown.com/concerts.
“AMARYLLIS” sees Shinedown joining forces once more with multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo (Kid Rock, Green Day), who previously collaborated with the band on the record-breaking “THE SOUND OF MADNESS.” Recorded at Cavallo’s Lightning Sound studios outside of Los Angeles and a pair of Hollywood landmarks, Ocean Way Recording and Capitol Studios, the album was recently named among “This Year’s Best Bets” by Billboard, which noted the inventive addition of synths, a 27-piece orchestra, and a 10-piece horn section to the band’s powerful hard rock.
“AMARYLLIS” is currently available for pre-order in a variety of formats, including CD, digital, and 140-gram 2xLP vinyl. For more, please see http://store.shinedown.com.
Released in June 2008, “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” proved Shinedown’s mainstream breakthrough, debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200 before spending 120 consecutive weeks on the chart. The album made rock music history, with each of its six singles reaching #1 on the airplay rankings. Among them are such hits as “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom),” “Devour,” “Sound of Madness,” “The Crow and The Butterfly,” the gold certified “If You Only Knew,” and the double-platinum certified crossover smash, “Second Chance” — all of which rose to the top of the airplay charts, marking an astonishing streak of rock radio classics.
Shinedown supported “THE SOUND OF MADNESS” with a wide range of live TV appearances, including performances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Today Show, CBS’ The Early Show, and the 2010 NHL Awards show. In 2009, the band received an American Music Award nomination for “Best Alternative Rock Band.”
Shinedown’s unprecedented ascendancy over multi-format rock radio commenced with their RIAA platinum certified 2003 debut “LEAVE A WHISPER” and its gold certified 2005 follow-up, “US AND THEM.” Together, both albums yielded seven consecutive top 5 radio hits, including “Fly From the Inside,” “45,” “Simple Man,” “Burning Bright,” “Heroes,” “I Dare You,” and of course, the #1 blockbuster, “Save Me,” which dominated Active Rock radio for a remarkable 12 successive weeks.
Shinedown is: Brent Smith (vocals), Barry Kerch (drums), Zach Myers (guitars), and Eric Bass (bass).
