0 AMERICAN HI-FI SIGNS TO GOOMBA MUSIC
Goomba Music is proud to announce the signing of AMERICAN HI-FI. The original line-up–Stacy Jones (singer/guitarist), Drew Parsons (bass), Jamie Arentzen (guitars) and Brian Nolan (drums)—is currently recording their as-yet-untitled new album in Los Angeles, CA with an expected worldwide release date this fall. It’s being produced by the band and John Fields (Switchfoot, Jimmy Eat World) and recorded at Stacy Jones’ studio, The Deathstar.
“It feels great to make music with these guys,” exclaims Stacy Jones. “11 years in, American Hi-Fi is a brotherhood. We made this record because we feel like the world needs a few more guitar bands. We are just doing our small part to keep Rock-N-Roll alive!”
For the past six years, members of American Hi-Fi have been working with Miley Cyrus. Singer Stacy Jones has been her music director and drummer, Jamie Arentzen has been her guitarist and Drew Parsons has played bass at a few concerts. Stacy and Jamie have been featured in everything Miley Cyrus since the beginning of her “Hannah Montana” days, including the 2009 movie and “Best Of Both Worlds” concert film/DVD.
Over the course of their 10-year career, American Hi-Fi has sold over 1 million albums thanks to hit singles such as the Top 10 smash “Flavor Of The Weak,” “Another Perfect Day” (which was used as Coca-Cola’s theme for the 2002 Winter Olympics) and “The Art Of Losing,” and they’ve toured the world with artists such as Elvis Costello, Matchbox Twenty, Bon Jovi, Sum 41 and Fall Out Boy. Before teaming up as American Hi-Fi, the band members performed as part of various influential bands from the ‘90s Alternative Rock scene, including Veruca Salt and Letters to Cleo, and with Tanya Donelly, Tracy Bonham, Aimee Mann, and Juliana Hatfield individually. Their songs have been heard on TV shows and commercials such as Coors, Labatt Blue, Verizon, “Boston Public,” “24” and “Dawson’s Creek,” video games including “Guitar Hero 3,” and in movies including “American Pie 2,” “Freaky Friday,” “Van Wilder” and “Superman Returns.” And Stacy has produced albums at The Deathstar for such artists as The Downtown Fiction, Ingrid Michaelson, Meg & Dia, The Cab, Plain White T’s, Hey Monday and Academy Is… and many others.

2 Jack Blades – Rock ‘N Roll Ride (2012)
Jack Blades is back with his second solo CD, and to my ears, one of the greatest surprises of 2012. I have been a fan of Jack Blades for a long time, but to be honest, I didn’t expect his solo CD to be much. I can gladly say, I was wrong. Rock ‘N Roll Ride is a stronger album, in my opinion, than the latest Night Ranger CD, Somewhere in California. This CD has a good collection of classic rock numbers, with a few hard rock numbers sprinkled in for good measure.
For you hard rockers out there, Rock ‘N Roll Ride has plenty of music for you to check out.
The hardest numbers are “Back In The Game”, “Rock ‘N Roll Ride”, “Love Life”, “Say You Will” and “Rise and Shine”. All of these songs are excellent.”Love Life” sounds like it could have been a left over Night Ranger song. I like this better than anything off of Night Ranger’s recent album, Somewhere in California.
“Hardest Word To Say” is an acoustic guitar based number that gets better and better with every listen. This is another great song!
When I first heard “West Hollywood” I did a double take. Jack Blades almost sounds like Tom Petty in parts of this song. I thought the same thing about the song “Don’t Give Up” as well. They both have that classic Tom Petty style. The music is great, and Jack’s voice has never sounded better.
“Rise and Shine” might just be the catchiest song on Rock ‘N Roll Ride. I wish I could use this song as an alarm on my alarm clock every morning.
The album closes out with the song “Hey Now”. This song has a cool Rolling Stones type of vibe to it. This is one of my favorites on Rock ‘N Roll Ride.
Overall, Rock ‘N Roll Ride has been one of 2012’s great surprises. I love this album, and I think you will too!
You can pick up Rock ‘N Roll Ride at this link. Don’t miss this!

0 THE USED Release New Album VULNERABLE Available Now; Announce Headlining Tour!
The Used have released their 5th studio album, Vulnerable off their own record label Anger Music Group partnered with Hopeless Records here: http://bit.ly/H4rvgm. In conjunction with the new album release, the band has announced a headlining tour kicking off May 12th with Dead Sara and Stars In Stereo. The band will also play Main Stage on this summer’s 2012 Vans Warped Tour and be doing a select amount of acoustic shows starting today.
Turning personal adversity into art is The Used’s trademark and Vulnerable was a record that simply had to be made. It marks a particular triumph for singer Bert McCracken, who is now reenergized after suffering a broken hand and elbow last year, falling from a stage in Orange County, Calif., and then spending four months getting surgery and recuperating. The experience partially birthed the title and concept of Vulnerable.
“Me feeling that vulnerability kind of sparked this creative fire inside of me,” says McCracken. “This record’s really about becoming more than just who you are, and allowing yourself that vulnerability to be a more powerful person. It’s a lot more positive than a lot of records we’ve written in the past. I think everyone could use some positivity nowadays.”
The Used-which also includes guitarist Quinn Allman, bassist Jeph Howard and drummer Dan Whitesides formed in Orem, Utah in 2001, signing to Reprise Records that same year. Championed by producer and collaborator John Feldmann, the band issued their gold-certified Self-Titled debut in 2002, quickly cementing the Used as leaders among the post-hardcore elite, thanks in part to unforgettable singles like “Box Full of Sharp Objects,” “The Taste of Ink” and “Buried Myself Alive.” The band then released the CD/DVD comboMaybe Memories in 2003, now certified platinum, featuring B-sides, live cuts, demos and unreleased tracks, while still another gold record followed-2004’s In Love And Death-spawning singles “Take It Away,” “All That I’ve Got” and “I Caught Fire.”
2007’s Lies For The Liars, hit #5 on the Billboard Top 200, led to 2009’s Artwork, which peaked at #10 on the Billboard Top 200. As if that weren’t enough to keep a band busy, since 2001 the Used has also destroyed countless stages the world over, touring with a who’s who of modern rock and heavy music contemporaries, and have been featured acts at major festivals like Warped Tour, Taste of Chaos, Ozzfest, Projekt Revolution and the UK’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
“I think Vulnerable is really new for us. There’s a lot of hip-hop influence, beats and drum and bass kind of stuff, but it’s also still a Used record, by all means,” explains McCracken. “Just like any other Used record, it’s a horse of many colors: There are a lot of soft and heavy sounds, there are a lot of brutal, sharp, bright sounds, and the tempos are anywhere from ultra-slow to super fast and heavy. There are a lot of different conceptual feelings on the record.”
“This record is for all those people who weren’t the coolest people around. We never were. This record’s for kids like us, who just love music, because it saves their lives every day,” McCracken says. “At the end of the day, I’m the only one who has to live and die with myself. I want to make it a good one for me. I only have one life to live.”

0 New Video – SINAI – The American Dream; New Album Coming April 1st!
The rock band SINAI announced today via their website that a debut album is finally in the works and is being prepared for release. Comprised of lead singer Walt Lafty, lead guitarist and bassist Nick Perri, and drummer Shane Rozum, SINAI formed in 2010 marking the professional reunion of Perri and Lafty after a nearly five-year hiatus from their previous band, Silvertide.
“The truth is we worked very hard on writing and recording for over a year”, said Perri. “We are incredibly proud of the music we created, and we want to share it with people, plain and simple.”
This has been a busy year for SINAI‘s members, which saw a lot of new ventures and creative avenues. “We all started doing a lot of other things, and diversifying our artistic reaches, but the intention has always been to release an album when the time was right”, said Perri this morning, “and that time is now.”
The band wrote and recorded over 20 songs from 2010 to 2011, and at least half of that material will make its way on the new disc. According to Lafty: “We had songs done before the band was even official. There is so much music floating around it was an obvious decision to start putting some of it out.”
For Perri this marks a monumental occasion. “Technically speaking, this is the 1st album of my original material that will see the light of day since Silvertide’s Show & Tell. It’s a really big deal. I’m very proud of the songwriter and player I’ve become. I moved back to Philadelphia at that time to play with my best friends, and create something organic and real. We had a blast and I put my all into it. To finally release this record and put it into the universe will be very rewarding.”
The album entitled “a pinch of chaos” will be released through the PERRI INK. Cartel on April 1st.
