I knew there were issues in the Queensryche camp, but this news comes as a bit of a surprise.  Thanks to @NickinDallas for the tip!

On Friday June 8th and Saturday June 9th, the core members of Queensryche will debut their new band “Rising West” at the Hard Rock Café in Seattle WA. Rising West features Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield, and Parker Lundgren of Queensryche, with powerhouse vocalist Todd La Torre of Crimson Glory. The band will be performing rare and classic hits from the first 5 Queensryche albums and plan on hitting the studio sometime early summer to begin recording their first release.

So what does Todd La Torre sound like?  Check out this clip!

I love Queensryche and Geoff Tate and hate to see them split but it might be time. The group has gotten progressively softer and I think they have gotten away from their roots lately. This new guy sounds just like Geoff and if he can keep that early essence alive and Geoff can do his own thing and everyone is happy, we all win!!

Queensryche was played out after promisedland. But you can go back and listen to the classic albums and you will hear the same guitar riffs, fills, and phrases throughout all of the albums. DeGarmo got out while the getting was good he knew he was just repeating himself on lead. The majority Geoff Tate written albums have been uninspiring and musically the band hasn’t helped either. A band puts out a record like Mindcrime II when they have few if any other ideas and are attempting to recapture the stunning alchemy of an earlier time. Queensryche or Rising West are a novelty act now. But they were Gods once.

Time to put Queensryche to rest. They have been circling the drain for the last decade.

Saw them 5-6 years ago w/ Dream Theater and Fates Warning. Talk about “uninspiring”! Wilton going thru the motions, some hired punked-up beanie wearing hack on 2nd guitar. Tate saved their @SS with showmanship and enthusiasm. Good riddance QR, god bless- there were some great times there…and good luck Tate! Keep the faith!

It’s definitey time for them to move on from Geoff

Tate has become to full of himself. He has taken QR in a horrible direction and they haven’t put out a good album since Promise Land. I just watched them live on HDNet Sunday and they were boring and uninspired. It’s time for something different. Tate was great in the early days, now he’s better off selling his wine.
