Baltimore, MD bred musician Mike Ruocco has announced details about his new, aptly-titled solo album – THE RISE. THE RIDE. THE RISK., (scheduled to be released independently via iTunes on June 12, 2012).
“THE RISE. THE RIDE. THE RISK. is everything my music represents. The rise – this is beginning of my new career. The ride – a look back, reflecting on where I’ve been. The risk – this is all me.” says Ruocco.
Mixed by Jeff Juliano (Lifehouse, John Mayer, Dave Matthews), the albums lead single “Too Late” is currently available for purchase via iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/too-late-single/id505621850?ign-mpt=uo%3D4.
“Too Late” offers an optimistic message, touching on the tumultuous nature of human relationships and how it’s “not too late to make things right.” Says the singer: “Positivity is a central theme on the album. As I got a little older, my nerves have calmed a bit, and I got tired of hearing all the anger in rock music,” adds the singer. “When I grew up, rock music encompassed a lot of different moods. I wanted to reflect that in my own music.”
To date, Ruocco has collaborated with artists and producers such as Aerosmith Producer/Co-writer Marti Frederiksen, Stacy Jones, Mitch Allan, Holly Knight, Jack Blades, Duff McKagan, Candlebox, Scott Stevens, Vivian Campbell, Mark Holman, The Gracious Few and has achieved Top 25 positioning with the active rock song “Get In Get Out” and a Top 40 active rock track with “Should’ve Known Better” (both songs from Cinder Road’s album Superhuman).
Ruocco has toured with the likes of Daughtry, Candlebox, Sick Puppies, Hurt, Puddle Of Mudd, Orianthi, RED, Alice Cooper, as well as direct support for the KISS Alive 35 tour in Europe where he spent 2 months in over 30 different countries playing with the Rock icons.

Baltimore rockers, Charm City Devils have released their sophomore effort, Sins. As much as I loved the band’s debut album, Let’s Rock N Roll, Sins simply blows that album out of the water.
“Man of Constant Sorrow” is the best cover song I have listened to in a long, long time. Charm City Devils have taken this 100 year old folk song, and turned into something completely their own. I think they did an outstanding job with this cover. While “Man of Constant Sorrow” may be the only song that many of you have heard from Sins, the album is much deeper than that.
John Allen and company have crafted a bunch of catchy tunes, many of which ought to be hits for Charm City Devils.
“Walk Away” is massively infectious tune that all rock fans need to hear. I am hopeful that this will be released as a single. This is a great song!
“Still Alive” is the type of song that you will find yourself singing to after the first play.
The opening tunes “Spite” and “Unstoppable” have more of a modern hard rock feel style. “Spite” has a great message, and is another cool tune. This song rocks hard!
If you want some high octane rockers, Sins has those too. Give the songs “Love N War” and “Unstoppable” a listen. You won’t be disappointed. “Love N War” is the heaviest song on the album, and the driving rhythm is completely infectious. I thought “Unstoppable” had a Godsmack like vibe to it, and is extremely cool too!
Overall, Sins is a great album! It is rare when you get an album where you don’t want to skip a song or two. There isn’t a bad tune on Sins. You won’t want to skip any of them! The CD hasn’t left my play list since I purchased it. Don’t miss out on one of the best hard rock albums of 2012! I love Sins, and I think you will too!
You can purchase your copy of Sins from CDBaby at this link!

Black Sabbath will play the Birmingham O2 Academy on May 19.
The low-key date is the band’s third confirmed appearance after they replaced their planned world tour with an ‘Ozzy Osbourne & Friends’ billing, following guitarist Tony Iommi’s diagnosis of cancer. He’s completed chemotherapy and continues to recuperate
Sabbath, without original drummer Bill Ward, will appear at this year’s Download Festival at Donington, UK, in June and also at Lollapalooza, Chicago, US, in August.
The Birmingham warm-up is their first hometown appearance in 13 years. Tickets go on sale on Friday.
Sabbath are currently working on their first original-lineup studio album in 33 years with producer Rick Rubin.
Greek Metallers Firewind have just release a new video, “Wall of Sound” in support of their new album, Few Against Many which will be released on May 21st (Europe), May 22nd (N. America) and May 23rd (Japan). U.S Fans can pre-order the album here.
FIREWIND’s Gus G. has checked in to comment on the clip as follows: “We wanted to do a different video this time, instead of the usual indoor studio shootings. So we figured we’d show the band in its comfort zone – on stage. The clip was shot on our most recent shows in Greece this past January and you can witness the mayhem that goes down when we play in our home country! Enjoy!”

Y&T’s Black Tiger album remembered in new iPad/iPhone app
Finally on the map with their scorching first album for A&M (Earthshaker was their third overall), California’s Y&T were ready to strike with their classic fourth record, 1982’s Black Tiger.
Thirty years on, a new app for iPad and iPhone tells the story of how Black Tiger was made – in singer and lead guitarist Dave Meniketti’s own words. The app is available now in the iTunes store:
The app includes extensive audio of Meniketti describing how Black Tiger was recorded (at Ridge Farm studio in England) – including his comments on the album’s tracks and on touring with AC/DC in 1982.
The app has lots of images from 1982 – including photos of the Black Tiger recording sessions from Meniketti’s personal collection.
The app’s author is Canadian rock and metal writer Martin Popoff, who draws on three recorded interviews he did with Meniketti. Popoff also penned a new review of Black Tiger for the app, and an essay in which he argues that Y&T were a kick-ass NWOBHM band who, through no fault of their own, happened to be from San Francisco.
