GYPSYHAWK unveils ‘Revelry & Resilience’ art, track listing, and new single ‘Hedgeking’ and behind the scenes studio video available for streaming!
Pasadena, CA’s GYPSYHAWK have finally released the details for their forthcoming sophomore album, and Metal Blade Records debut, Revelry & Resilience. The band’s distinct personality is splashed all over Revelry & Resilience. Whether it’s the edgy and upbeat barroom swagger of The Fields, the balls out stomp wielded by the serpentine grooves and blistering leads of Hedgeking (inspired by George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Fire and Ice series”), the head-bobbing bounce and triumphant air of Frostwyrm or their crunchy yet soulful take on Johnny Winter’s Rock And Roll, Hoochie Koo the record crackles with energy while being wholly devoid of pretension, and on every level it is leagues ahead of its predecessor.
GYPSYHAWK describes themselves as “four metal dudes playing rock and roll and bringing the party every time they get on stage”. If one thing is for sure it’s that the four guys in GYPSYHAWK are not looking for overnight stardom and want to put the work into building something that lasts, and deservedly so. “I really want to take this band as big as it can possibly go but because it’s good music that people want to hear, and I want the chance to try different things on the records we make in the future, to really see what we’re capable of,” says Packer. “We’re just going to write the best music that we can and we’re gonna write the truest music that we can,” Harris adds. “We want to play this music everywhere that will have us, but we’re pretty realistic about everything, and we’re just having a good fucking time while we can.”
The cover art was done by acclaimed artist Arik Roper (http://arikroper.com) and is available now on metalblade.com/gypsyhawk, along with the first single, Hedgeking, and a behind the scenes studio video.
Revelry & Resilience will be released August, 24th/27th by Metal Blade Records in Europe!
GYPSYHAWK was showcased as one of Alternative Press Magazine’s “100 bands you need to know” for 2012. The annual special—which is now in its twelfth year—highlights up-and-coming acts from the worlds of rock, punk, pop, indie, hardcore, metal, electronica and screamo; the expectation with inclusion is that these bands are poised to have a breakout year in 2012.
GYPSYHAWK will also be appearing on the Mayhem Festival Cruise this December with Lamb of God, Machine Head, Anthrax, Hatebreed, and more! For more information, and to reserve a room, head to: http://www.mayhemcruise.com
Fronted in true Phil Lynott style by singer/bassist Eric Harris (former bassist of Ohio blackened thrashers Skeletonwitch), GYPSYHAWK’s foursome is rounded out with guitarists Andrew Packer and Erik Kluiber, and drummer Ian Brown.

“equal parts bold classic-rock boogie and hazy space rock” Alternative Press Magazine
“Brought down from the Iron Throne, banished to the great wall, stride along the king’s road of rock and roll laid barren by the Gypsyhawk…Don’t attempt to call Gypsyhawk anything but rock and roll, they take what we all know and make it new again.” Chuck Loesch, KROX 101X
Don’t believe the hype that rock n’ roll is dead… The World’s Loudest Month has officially come to a conclusion for 2012 having hosted over 100 artists and played for more than 200,000 rock music fans across the country on five consecutive weekends. Created in partnership by AEG Live and Right Arm Entertainment, the World’s Loudest Month featured the biggest names in rock music performing throughout five distinct concert atmospheres in what can only be described as the official confirmation the often-maligned genre is thriving.
“The World’s Loudest Month is a testament not only to the artists that are grouped into this format but to the fans that have always shown their loyalty by spending their hard-earned money to come out and support what we do,” said Joe Litvag, co-executive producer of four of the five WLM festivals. “Every time I hear someone say that rock is going away or read articles that talk about the demise of rock, I smile. Rock music is alive and well and growing, and the success of the World’s Loudest Month proves just that.”
Kicking the month off was the return of Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville , FL on Sunday, April 29. Taking place at Metropolitan Park, this one-day concert drew a sell-out crowd and saw performances from 24 local and national rock artists including: Shinedown, Korn, Evanescence, Five Finger Death Punch & many more.
Just up the road in Rockingham, NC, the 2nd Annual Carolina Rebellion got started with a campground party on Friday, May 4, and on Saturday, May 5 over 30,000 fans converged on Rockingham Speedway and were treated to performances by Five Finger Death Punch, Staind, P.O.D., Evanescence as well as an epic moment during Korn’s set with former guitarist Head joining the band on-stage for the first time in seven years.
The third weekend in the World’s Loudest Month delivered the biggest one-day rock music festival in the United States with RockFest in Kansas City on May 12. Celebrating its 20th year and cementing itself in concert history, the legendary event sold-out for the 8th consecutive year with 55,000 in attendance. Fifteen bands rocked for over 12 hours, including Adelitas Way, Theory of a Deadman, Slash, Volbeat, Cavo & more. As an added bonus, headliners Shinedown filmed the live performance video for their upcoming single “Unity” in front of the massive ‘sea of people’ that only RockFest can bring.
May 18-20 featured the nation’s most-acclaimed active rock festival, Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH at Crew Stadium. Kicking off ROTR’s 6th year, the party started on Friday night with the “Friday Night 4Play” featuring Foxy Shazam and Black Tide. Saturday saw sets by Incubus, Shinedown, Chevelle, P.O.D., Five Finger Death Punch and Cypress Hill. Sunday’s highlights included sets by acts like The Darkness, Volbeat, Anthrax, Megadeth, and for the first time ever, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson on the same stage. Once again the fans and bands showed that Rock on the Range truly is “Where Rock Lives.”
The World’s Loudest Month concluded in Pryor, OK on Memorial Day Weekend with Rocklahoma, a three-day camping festival unlike any other. Over 30,000 fans celebrated the Holiday by enjoying bands on four different stages, and memorable performances included sets by Creed, Rob Zombie, Chickenfoot, Megadeth, Jackyl, Theory of a Deadman, Cavo, Slash, Volbeat, Puddle of Mudd and Hellyeah. And, for the first time ever, over 30 million fans throughout the United States could check out eight full hours of live concert coverage from Rocklahoma on Mark Cuban’s ‘HDNet’ helping to spread the word of Rocklahoma: “Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Rock.”
Gary Spivack of Right Arm Entertainment adds, “We’re finally able to come up for air after an amazing month. The World’s Loudest Month proves to the planet that rock n’ roll is alive and kicking doors down. Right Arm is already looking forward to making WLM in 2013 even bigger and better. To echo what our partner Joe Litvag said—any demise of rock music by critics and naysayers has been greatly misguided.”

Bang Tango’s set at M3 was a short one. They only played six songs, but for having an early time slot, I thought the band did a pretty good job. I thought Bang Tango would play more of their classic material, but they actually played two new songs off of their latest CD, Pistol Whipped In the Bible Belt, “Suck It Up, and “Bring On the World”. Their new album is much better than expected, and definitely worth checking out. (You can read the Hard Rock Hideout Review here!) I am sure that Bang Tango’s set was shortened due to the late start time of the bands on Saturday, but they made the best of it. I enjoyed their set, I just wish it was longer.
Bang Tango’s set list was “Suck It Up”, “Ready To Go”, “Attack of Life”, “Bring On the World”, “Soul to Soul”, and my favorite “Someone Like You”.

BAND FEATURES MEMBERS OF FUEL AND SMILE EMPTY SOUL
New hard rock supergroup World Fire Brigade have signed to FrostByte Media to release their debut album, SPREADING MY WINGS, worldwide on August 28th. World Fire Brigade at its core is veteran songwriting trio Brett Scallions (frontman of Fuel, as well as lead vocalist with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors), Sean Danielsen (lead singer/guitarist of Smile Empty Soul) and Eddie Wohl (producer/mixer for Anthax, Ill Nino, Smile Empty Soul, Jesse Malin, 36 Crazyfists and more). Of SPREADING MY WINGS, Scallions commented, “This is a record filled with all emotions, songs that fall back and forth from major to minor. I love that it’s a heavy record with sing-a-long melodies. You don’t hear that too much in this style of music.” Please see below for the album’s track listing.
The members of World Fire Brigade have sold upwards of 10 million albums worldwide between Fuel, Smile Empty Soul and the production work of Eddie Wohl. Originally conceived as a songwriting vehicle for delivering world-class hard rock songs to other artists, World Fire Brigade evolved into its own group when it became clear that their powerful material was meant to be performed by Scallions, Danielsen and Wohl themselves. Ken Schalk (Fuel, Candiria) provides all the drums on SPREADING MY WINGS and the album also features guest appearances by Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Anthrax’s Rob Caggiano, and Andy Andersson (Fuel, Black Robot). World Fire Brigade is: Brett Scallions (vocals), Sean Danielsen (vocals/lead guitar) and Eddie Wohl (keyboards).
