The origin of Eye Empire began in 2007 when Corey Lowery (Stuck Mojo/Stereomud/Dark New Day) and B.C. Kochmit (Switched) started to construct what would eventually become the foundation of this empire.
After two years of writing and searching for the right voice, Donald Carpenter (Submersed) joined the group in October of 2009 followed by former Texas Hippie Coalition member Ryan Bennett on drums. The band’s debut album: Moment of Impact will be released Tuesday, June 19th via Bad Puppy Records / Bulldog Productions.
Produced by Corey Lowery and Eye Empire, early pressings of the album have already sold thousands of copies on-line exclusively through mail order. An expanded track listing with three brand new songs make up the national release of Moment Of Impact.
The first single from the album, “I Pray” has already been heard on Sirius/XM’s “Octane” for the past few months; while the band has been staging one standing room only show after another. Eye Empire will immediately head back out on the road for dates beginning on September 4th in Madison, WI, and rolling in to a direct support run with Wayne Static’s Pighammer that commences on September 27th in Sacramento.

In regards to this upcoming tour, Jon Schaffer (rhythm, lead and acoustic guitars/backing vocals) comments: “I’m completely stoked, VOLBEAT is one of my all-time favorite bands, and Michael and the boys are great people. There is a lot of mutual respect and admiration, and I think we are in for a hell of a good time! This will be a package that won’t soon be forgotten, I’m sure of that.”
ICED EARTH will be touring in support of their critically acclaimed 10th studio album, Dystopia. Currently available only at the merchandise stands on the tour, the 2-disc Dystopia Tour Edition contains the original full-length album, as well as b-side covers of IRON MAIDEN “The Trooper” and BLACK SABBATH “Mob Rules,” as well as the classic 17-minute ICED EARTH track “Dante’s Inferno” re-recorded with vocalist Stu Block. Unless you’ve been living under a soft rock, you have no doubt heard that there is a huge, double-bill, rock and roll tour heading to a city near you this summer. Kiss will be teaming up with Motley Crue for what looks to be one of the hardest rocking double bills I’ve seen in years. I am looking forward to this amazing hard rock show when they roll into New Jersey this September. It’s going to be an awesome, late summer Friday night of fun and havoc!
Like I do with almost any concert that I attend, I’ve been thinking about what the setlists could be for each band this year. Will they stick to only the hits? Are they going to pull out some early classics? Will there be a surprise or two that no one expects? I’m always anxious to hear some deep cuts whenever I see either of these bands live, and this year is no exception. After giving it much thought, I’ve come up with a list of songs that would make me wet myself if they were performed live. Last time I wrote about the Motley songs I want to hear, this time, here are the five songs that I would love to hear from KISS.
Sweet Pain (Destroyer)
“Sweet Pain” could be my favorite Kiss song ever. To the best of my knowledge, Kiss has only played this song live during their acoustic Konvention tour, where they played any song that the fans would call out. I have a copy of that song on a bootleg, and while it took a while for the band to get it down, they did a decent job. As one of the best songs on Destroyer it is a true shame that this song has never received a proper live performance. If Kiss would take the time to study this tune and pull it out for the upcoming tour, the buzz from the fans would be maddening. With the song’s power and intensity combined with it being a deep cut classic, all Kiss fans would love to hear “Sweet Pain.”
I (Music From The Elder)
How in the world does a rock band have a song that is so amazing, so powerful, and so fantastic that they never play it? It baffles my mind that Kiss has only performed “I” less than a handful of times and never since the acoustic Konvention tour back in 1995. “I” is one of those great Kiss classics where Gene and Paul trade verses to the delight of the Kiss Army. The song is a powerful anthem about believing in yourself and going above and beyond to achieve what you want in life. Like other Kiss anthems, “I” is a song that would rev the crowd up to such a massive dynamic, that the audience would scream their throats raw. “I” would be the best main set closer that Kiss has ever done since “Let Me Go Rock And Roll” held that honor in the early 70s. It would be a Kiss fan’s dream come true.
Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em (Rock And Roll Over)
“Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em” is a great late-70s Gene sung song centered on the theme of womanizing. This is a topic that Gene wrote about a lot back in the 70s and 80s and still writes a fair amount about today. “Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em” is a fantastic ode to the one night stand, and a Kiss song that has never gotten the proper attention that it deserves. Kiss has the chance to right that wrong this summer by pulling out this fantastic homage to loving the ladies for one night only.
I Still Love You (Creatures Of The Night)
Granted, out of all the Kiss songs that I would like to hear in concert this year, “I Still Love You” is the one that has been played most recently. It is also the one song on this list that has the best chance of being played live during this concert. “I Still Love You” is one of Kiss’ strongest, operatic ballads and the live version is simply amazing. If Paul Stanley still has the range, pulling out this classic Kiss song would likely see an amazing crowd reaction.
Almost Human (Love Gun)
“Almost Human” is practically an unknown Kiss song. Any time that I mention this song to anyone, even die-hard Kiss fans, they always give me a quizzical look. When I remind them that it was a side two track from Love Gun, I usually get a similar response of, “Oh, I’m going to have to go back and listen to that one again.” That’s how deep a track “Almost Human” is. However, just because it’s a deep track, doesn’t mean that it’s not a good track. This is one of my all time favorite Gene Simmons songs. It’s dark and haunting, with a theme centered on science fiction and fantasy more than women or rock and roll (a rarity for a Kiss song). Perhaps meant to be the sequel to “God Of Thunder,” “Almost Human” received no attention after being released on Love Gun. Now, 35 years after its release, Kiss could really make a statement and perform this song live for the first time ever. This would also be a great song for Gene Simmons to fly and spit blood before performing, giving it an added bonus of excitement for the fans.
Those are the five songs that I would like to hear Kiss perform on tour this summer. What about you? What Kiss songs are you hoping that the band dusts off? Which Kiss rarities have you always wanted to see in concert? Drop a line in the comments section and share your opinion!

Iconic guitarist Slash has partnered with MATIvision to create the world’s first multi-camera 360-degree interactive music applications for the Apple iPad, iPod and iPhone to accompany his newly released album Apocalyptic Love.
The apps let you follow every moment of the band performing songs from their new album through six 360-degree spherical cameras. You choose the camera angle via touch or gyroscopic control – each camera rotates a full 360-degrees. Pinch in or out on your device to use the zoom feature to get closer to the action. Each app also includes additional content, such as exclusive photos and song lyrics. Slash360 provides a unique way to experience Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators unlike anything else.
There are two versions of the app to choose from – one version includes the hit single “You’re A Lie” along with lyrics and other extras (http://itunes.apple.com/app/slash-360-lt-apocalyptic-love/id524517739?mt=8) and the second a full version that includes the full Apocalyptic Love album, photos, lyrics and other extras (http://itunes.apple.com/app/slash-360-apocalyptic-love/id524544296?mt=8). The apps are priced in the United States iTunes store at $0.99 and $4.99, respectively. Pricing varies by territory.
“The way we recorded this album was pretty much live as we played it,” Slash explains. “It was an “old school” way of doing it and captures the energy of the band in the best possible way. Being able to capture the band and allow fans to experience it as if they were in the room is very cool, it’s like being in the room with us.”
Slash and his band featuring lead singer Myles Kennedy, drummer Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kearns aka The Conspirators have just released Apocalyptic Love (May 22). Apocalyptic Love stormed onto the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at #4, marking the top rock debut for that week. The disc also debuted at #1 Independent Albums Chart and #1 Hard Music Albums Chart. All songs on Apocalyptic Love released on Slash’s own Dik Hayd International, and distributed through EMI Label Services were written together by Slash and Myles Kennedy as they spent the last two years on tour all over the world. In addition, Apocalyptic Love is also Top 5 in seven countries outside the U.S. Critical acclaim is pouring in for the album and its hard-driving first single “You’re A Lie.”
Revolver magazine declared, “Apocalyptic Love is at heart a collection of lean, high-octane rock-and-roll tunes built to be blasted out of open-top sports cars or, more suitably, open-air stadiums” (July 2012). The Los Angeles Times added, “Fans of his work in GNR and Velvet Revolver will find much to embrace in the album’s 13 tracks, ranging from the sneering rock hooks of ‘You’re a Lie’ and the heavy metal grind of ‘Halo’ to the extended instrumental passages on ‘Anastasia.’” Elsewhere, Rolling Stone.com hailed, “the album is filled with head bangers and plenty of fancy fretwork, most notably on standout tracks like ‘Hard and Fast’ and ‘Standing in the Sun.’” Slash and his band are currently on the road performing sold-out shows across the country and overseas.

THE DOORS–organist RAY MANZAREK, guitarist ROBBY KRIEGER, drummer JOHN DENSMORE and late singer JIM MORRISON–have earned worldwide notoriety for being one of the most influential rock groups of all time. With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, THE DOORS had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture. The band was formed in Venice, Calif., and remains a vital piece to the legacy and history of The Sunset Strip. It was on The Strip that THE DOORS got their start at the London Fog before moving down the street to perform as the house band at the Whisky A Go-Go. A show at the Whisky in August 1966 helped them land a deal with Elektra Records, which would propel the band into international music icons.
“The Doors are honored to be celebrated by the magical, legendary Strip,” says RAY MANZAREK. “A great leap forward from the Summer Of Love to today. What a great time we’re going to have! The Sunset Strip. Live bands, loud music, Rock and Roll. It’s the ‘60s all over again, and everyone is welcome. Dancing in the streets. Joy, Love, Peace. And we want to get it all together just One – More – TIME! Could this be the beginning of the new Golden Age? Let it be so.” ROBBY KRIEGER says, “It’s a thrill to be honored by The Sunset Strip Music Festival this year. Venice was our home, but The Doors lived and came of age on the Sunset Strip. It’s exciting to see that the legacy we helped create is still alive and thriving today!” JOHN DENSMORE adds, “The Sunset Strip in the ‘60s was the incubation canal for an entire renaissance in music, and its impact is still with us. The Doors are proud to be honored this year at the 5th annual SSMF celebration.”

Band Set for First-Ever U.S. Tour on this Summer’s
Internationally-renowned hard rock and metal act FOZZY are proud to announce the August 14 release of SIN AND BONES, their highly-anticipated new studio album and debut release with Century Media Records. After years of non-stop touring in Europe, the band will embark on the first U.S. tour of their 12-year career, joining fellow heavyweights Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind and Papa Roach on this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival.
The brainchild of WWE superstar Chris Jericho and Stuck Mojo mastermind Rich Ward, FOZZY have delivered their hardest-hitting album to date with SIN AND BONES. Frontman Chris Jericho comments, “It’s the typical cliché, but SIN AND BONES really is the best thing we’ve ever done. It is a good thing that I don’t review CD’s after one listen. After I listened to L.A. Guns new CD, Hollywood Forever the first time, I didn’t like it very much. Maybe I expected this album to be another Cocked & Loaded, or maybe I was just too tired when I listened to it. Needless to say, my opinion has done a complete 180 since then, I can’t get this CD out of player. Hollywood Forever may not be Cocked & Loaded, but it is clearly their best album L.A. Guns have released since Hollywood Vampires.
L.A. Guns has managed to recapture their former sound and this is due mainly to the killer guitar work of Stacey Blades. . Hollywood Forever oozes that awesome 80’s sleazy sound, and that is due mainly to Stacey’s playing on this album.
L.A. Guns most powerful instrument has always been the voice of Phil Lewis. Phil proves that he still has one of the best voices in the business on Hollywood Forever.
The album starts off with the ripping title track “Hollywood Forever”. This is the way to start out a rock album. This heavy rocker could go down as one of L.A. Guns best yet.
The best songs on the album are ‘Hollywood Forever”, “You Better Not Love Me”, “Sweet Mystery” and “I Won’t Play”, but there are several more that will grow on you with every listen. “Eel Pie” is one of those tracks that I keep finding myself replaying. “Vine Street Shimmy” is another song that I keep gravitating too. I hope this one finds its way into L.A. Guns live set some time soon. This is a fun and upbeat rocker that L.A. Guns fans are going to love.
I thought the inclusion of the cover song Arana Negra was pretty clever, even though it is in Spanish. I understand the lyrics “Hola coma estas”, but my Spanish is pretty weak after that. It is a catchy song, even if I don’t know all of the words that Phil Lewis is singing.
Overall, this is a very strong effort from L.A. Guns, and one that every fan should pick up. I love this album, and I think you will too!
You can purchase Hollywood Forever from Amazon.com at this link. Don’t miss this!

On July 3, Cleopatra Records will release the fifth studio record from Pittsburgh, PA-based melodic metallers Icarus Witch. RISE is an epic twelve-track display of songwriting and musicianship from one of the most-watched heavy music bands of the decade.
From the driving, anthemic “(We Are) The New Revolution” to its equally commanding following track “Rise,” Icarus Witch demonstrates impeccable harmonies, head-spinning dual guitar work, and hammering rhythm. Lyrically, the band is digging deep into themes of control (loss of, and taking it back), empowerment (within and without), and faith (and keeping it).
Says Jason Myers, “On RISE, all restrictions of what we could or could not do were removed. The result is a completely fresh approach, new territory being explored, more diversity, better energy, by far the biggest progression in songwriting in the band’s history. This album took courage to create. We certainly didn’t take the safe or expected route and know that we’re rolling the dice with some bold moves.” Continues Tom Wierzbicky, “This was a very unique album that we put together. There were times where you would be pulling from the other side of the spectrum, sometimes taking yourself out of your comfort zone.”
By supporting artists as diverse as Black Sabbath, Paul DiAnno (as backing band as well), Cinderella, Twisted Sister, Otep, Doro, Fuel, and Coheed & Cambria, Icarus Witch has earned a large international fan base that consists of hardcore headbangers, hip art rockers, and indie kids. In August, the band launches a tour with Earache Records’ White Wizzard and Pure Steel artist Widow.

Since their debut in 2003, Icarus Witch has inspired the enthusiastic endorsements like “one of the best bands to carry the standard triumphantly into the future!” from Metal Hammer. Heavy-hitters from the melodic rock and metal worlds have guested on past Icarus Witch albums, including Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple/Rainbow), George Lynch (Dokken/Lynch Mob) and Michael Romeo (Symphony X). On RISE, the band stands on its own debuting a new vocalist, drummer, and second guitar player, which heralds a new era with a big, boldly fresh sound that Don Jamieson (That Metal Show) has called “KILLER! A great sign of things to come.”
Icarus Witch is Christopher Shaner (vocals), Quinn Lukas (guitar), Dave Watson (guitars/keys), Jason Myers (bass), and Tom Wierzbicky (drums).

The result of the band’s life experiences over the past few years, “Sins” features an aggression and energy that hits you right between the eyes. From the first note of “Spite” to the last cymbal crash of “Unstoppable,” (the newest WWE “NO WAY OUT” offcial theme song) and most notably in the hit single “Man Of Constant Sorrow” which has climbed all the way to #22 on the Active Rock Charts.
Frontman John Allen concludes, “When we came off of the road at the end of Cruefest 2, we all felt so pumped and excited to keep moving and growing. We were so blown away at the reaction that we didn’t want to lose that creative energy. We started laying down tracks and ideas for this record almost immediately.”

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release HESS new solo album entitled “Living in Yesterday” on August 24th in Europe and August 28th in the US.
Best known for spending 17 years as frontman of Harem Scarem, one of the most well known and respected Melodic Hard Rock bands to come out from Canada, Harry Hess has been redesigning his career as music producer and songwriter.
After the band’s decision to stop recording more albums, the next natural step for Harry was to start working on a solo album which he has been expertly crafting little by little in his Toronto studio. Still the songs included in “Living in Yesterday” are the result of Hess’ travels around the globe over the last few years with stops in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Brussels, Nashville and Germany.
With this CD Harry intends to go back to certain sounds and atmospheres leaning more towards melodic rock music. “This record is more a continuation of where I left off with Harem Scarem” says Harry. “I am a rock singer and it’s really hard for me to open up my mouth and sound right doing any other style of music so I really embrace that now and build the production around my vocal style”.
The musicians featured on the album include his former bandmates Pete Lesperance, Creighton Doane and Darren Smith (his former bandmates in Harem Scarem), Tommy Denander, Marcie Free (Unruly Child), Howie Simon (Jeff Scott Soto) and Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear) among others. “This whole record was built on the co-writes and on the collaborations I have been doing all around the world the past 3 years” continues Harry. “There were some great writers involved and it was fun to try new things but still make it work with what I do”.
“Living In Yesterday” includes the following songs: Living In Yesterday; Reach For You; It’s Over; Don’t Leave Me; What If; Nothing Lasts Forever; Falling Down; I Live For You; I Don’t Wanna Want You; Where To Run.
The new album is a superb slice of Melodic Rock which features a monster vocal performance from Harry, fabulous songwriting and a crisp production. “I’ve never a big fan of my own work but there are few songs on this record that I feel are some of my best to date”, concludes Harry.
It is possible to stream in full the first song from the album “Living In Yesterday” on the Frontiers Records webradio www.frontiers.it/webradio and on Harry Hess page on Facebook www.facebook.com/harry.hess3

When I see Great White perform, I think about the joy of music. You see, the band enjoys playing live, and it shows in their performance. Mark Kendall and Michael Lardie are all smiles, and Terry Ilous owns the stage. Terry Ilous gives 110% every time he sings, and whether the fans like it or not, he has great chemistry with the band. This was the second time I saw Mr. Ilous front Great White, and both times the band has put on a great performance.
Because of the botched start times at M3, Great White only got to play five songs. Their set consisted of “Big Goodbye”, “Lady Red Light”, “Save Your Love”, “Rock Me”
and “One Bitten Twice Shy”. I wish they could have played longer, but I enjoyed their short set.
Beggars and Thieves have released a new video “Innocence” in support of their latest album, We Are The Brokenhearted. Check it out!
