Australian rock band TRACER won “Best New Band” at last night’s 2012 Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards, held at the London Roundhouse on Tuesday November 13th beating out the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Monster Truck, and Ghost amongst others. Lead singer Michael Brown was flown in from Adelaide, Australia to accept the award on behalf of the band.  He comments: “I’m absolutely stoked about winning the Classic Rock Award for Best New Band! It still blows my mind that we are creating and playing music we love and people are responding to it and we’re getting awards for it!!”

The band will start recording their second album with producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Silverchair, Cold Chisel), at his studio in Malibu, California later this month.  The album will be released by Mascot Records in March 2013.  Immediately following release, the band will tour the U.K., launching the excursion at Scala in London the 9th of April.

In 2011, Tracer came to prominence in the U.K. when they released their debut album Spaces In Between which spawned three radio singles on Planet Rock, including the song “Too Much.” Tracer is Michael Brown (guitar, vocals), Andre Wise (drums), and Pat Saracino (bass). They’ve received praise from UK rock magazines including Classic Rock (New Band of the Month), Total Guitar, Metal Hammer, and Guitarist, while the video for “Too Much” has amassed 100,000 YouTube views.  The clip can be screened here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpv2DYrE5eo.
