Twisted Sister is proud to present, in concert, “A Twisted Christmas” with friends, to aid in Hurricane Sandy Relief. On Sunday, December 16, Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Eddie Ojeda, Mark Mendoza, and A.J. Pero will perform with a host of special guests to raise proceeds for different organizations related to the Sandy relief effort: Long Island Cares, Harry Chapin Foundation, New York State Troopers PBA (Troop L), The Island Park School District Music Program and Long Beach Police PBA.
Twisted Sister’s annual holiday concert has become a year-end tradition (the band recently released A Twisted Christmas – Live In Las Vegas on CD and DVD via Eagle Rock Entertainment). This year, the band, completely comprised of native New Yorkers, want to utilize this festival of heavy metal merriment to give back to those suffering after the devastation of the recent storm.
“We were planning on not doing any holiday shows for the first time in six years,” states guitarist/founder French. “Then Hurricane Sandy hit. The band members are New Yorkers to the bone. Manhattan, Staten Island, The Bronx, Nassau and Suffolk County. We are playing to help our fellow NY’ers.”
“During this season of giving and getting, spent with family and friends, it is important [that] none of us forget those who lost so much during Hurricane Sandy,” adds frontman Snider. “Twisted Sister hopes that this rare holiday show will raise much needed awareness and revenues for those unfortunate friends and neighbors. Our band still lives in NY, Long Island and Staten Island. This is our home. We are happy to be able to do something to help.”
The goal of the evening is to raise $100,000 for those affected. This night, hosted by Andrew W.K., will also include a performance by Adrenaline Mob (featuring Mike Portney ex-Dream Theater), as well as a special appearance by New York Yankee great, Bernie Williams. 100% of the net proceeds from ticket sales and bar revenue will go to Sandy relief. This morning, The Emporium, in advance of the fund raiser, has donated $10,000.00 to Sandy relief with a $5000.00 check to LI Cares, The Harry Chapin Foundation and a $5000.00 check to The Island Park School District Music Program (lost $85,000.00 worth of musical instruments in the flood waters).
To raise more funds for those affected by Hurricane Sandy, some artists appearing and The Emporium have teamed up to offer special meet & greet ticket packages. Please visit www.theemporiumny.com or contact The Emporium for details.
Twisted Sister kicked off this hell-raisin’ holiday tradition after the 2006 release of their A Twisted Christmas album, which was hailed by the Associated Press as “[one of] the best hard rock Christmas album[s] ever made, and one of the best rock ‘n’ roll Christmas albums – period – since Elvis made his.” The set list includes a mix of fan favorites (“We’re Not Gonna Take It,” “I Wanna Rock”) and Yuletide anthems given the Twisted treatment, like “Come All Ye Faithful,” “Deck The Halls,” and “White Christmas.”
The Emporium is located at 9 Railroad Avenue in Patchogue, NY. Doors open at 6pm. Admission is $40.
