OTEP’s final album Hydra is out today, January 22nd and is already climbing the iTunes charts; currently at #8 on the Rock Chart and #78 on the Overall Chart. Hydra takes listeners on a fantastical, demonic ride through the mind of a girl who has been cast aside, set on vengeance against the world that has forgotten her. Seducing your ears with every aspect of the vocal spectrum, the artist, activist and poet will put you in a trance, creating a theater of the mind the likes of which you have never imagined before.
With a sound all her own, OTEP has been terrorizing the metal scene for years with a mixture of unforgiving heavy sounds and beautifully haunting spoken words resulting in over 600,000 albums sold to date. Utilizing her unrivaled songwriting ability, OTEP has powered through taboo topics such as politics, sex, animal rights, equal rights, bigotry and hatred in previous releases. Playing for fans across the globe, she has been preaching a venomous, metal–infused gospel for well over a decade.
Proving art only gets better with time, Hydra has solidified OTEP’s place as one of the most prolific, unique, female-fronted metal groups of our time. Be a part of history and order the final chapter from a poet whose outspoken nature has paved the way for all artists to come. Pick up the album at Best Buy for $7.99 for a limited time only. Build your own Hydra package through the Victory Records’ webstore starting for as low as $19.98. Order now! ART SAVES!
Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce the signing of SLOUGH FEG, who’s style is an eclectic mix of Celtic Folk and Traditional Metal peppered with buckets of energy and lyrical depth. On February 5 the label will also be releasing three of the band’s early releases (North America only!) that, until now, were only available as imports. Twilight of the Idols (1999), Down Among the Deadmen (2000), and Traveller (2003) will be packaged as a 3CD box set will also be made available on their own, digitally, via iTunes, Amazon, Google+, or your favorite digital retailer. Check out samples from these albums and preorder your copy HERE.
Guitarist/vocalist Mike Scalzi comments: “We are very excited to announce that we have signed a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records for a new album, which we are beginning to record this month. The new material will be standard Feg-Fare— that is, totally non-standard!! Of course there will be some galloping, rollicking, bouncing buccaneer riffs unearthed from the Voi-Vaudevillian vaults, and a touch of good-‘ol misery and madness (not to mention more peevishly punctuated puns) in the lyrics. But this time there will also be a cavalcade of cacophonous crooning to add to the caterwaul, as well as the lavishly-landscaped luster of some majestic Morricone-esque riffs at which to marvel—perhaps a slight proto-American-West feel. So as usual, you’ll just have to wait to hear it yourself!!!”
“We are also equally excited (if not more excited!!) to announce that Metal Blade is re-releasing our second, third and fourth albums in the form of a bad-ass box set!! It’s about time these albums were made available in the USA!!! They’ve always been imports in the past, but now you can get them all at once!!”
Also available as part of a preorder is a The Lord Weird Slough Feg logo shirt that fans can pick up bundled with the 3CD for a special low price.
About the band:
SLOUGH FEG –originally The Lord Weird Slough Feg which was shortened to Slough Feg after the release of their 2005 album “Atavism”—who’s name is derived from a character in ancient Irish mythology, originates from Central Pennsylvania and relocated to San Francisco in 1990 in hopes of resurrecting the ailing ‘true metal’ scene in the United States. The band quickly gained a reputation as, ‘The band San Francisco loved to hate’ by taking a stand against the trends and incorporating stage savagery with strong visual imagery.
The band produced three demos in the early to mid nineties, which were followed up by a self-produced, self-titled debut CD released in 1996.
Scoring points for originality in the European underground, they aroused the interest of Dragonheart Records in 1998 and Twilight of the Idols was released in 1999 by the label. This was followed by the 2000 release of Down Among the Deadmen and Sci-Fi epic, Traveller, in 2003. In 2005 the band moved to the Italian label Cruz Del Sur and shortened their name to simply, SLOUGH FEG with the release of Atavism. 2007 brought the dawn of HARDWORLDER, and a slight change of direction to a ’70’s NWOBHM sound. 2008 saw the release of The Slay Stack Grows, a compilation containing over 30 tracks on 2CD’s, with Ape Uprising! (2009), The Animal Spirits (2010), and the live album Made in Poland (2011) rounding out the rest of the band’s catalog.
SLOUGH FEG is:
Mike Scalzi – Guitars/Vocals
Angelo Tringali – Guitars
Adrian Maestas – Bass
Harry Cantwell – Drums
ROSS THE BOSS RETURNS WITH A VENGEANCE, IN ALL-NEW METAL GROUP, DEATH DEALER
As a founding member of both Manowar and the Dictators, guitarist Ross the Boss needs no introduction. But it’s been a while since the metal masses heard from Ross, leading some to wonder if or when he would return. The wait is now over, as his newly formed outfit, Death Dealer, is ready to rock and take the world by storm, with their debut album, ‘Warmaster.’
“The Death Dealer sound is a mighty combination of five very talented, seasoned musicians,” explains Ross. “It’s classic power metal with the brutal edge of thrash, speed, and precision.” And when he says the band is comprised of talented and seasoned musicians, he’s not kidding, as Death Dealer also includes vocalist Sean Peck (Cage), guitarist Stu Marshall (producer and guitarist for such voices as Udo Dirkschneider and Steve Grimmett), bassist Mike Davis (Rob Halford, Lizzy Borden), and drummer Rhino (Manowar).
Formed last year via correspondence over the internet, as soon as work commenced on the material, Ross knew he had met his metallic match. “Well, after they sent the first tune over, I was blown away, then Stu and Sean tell me they want me to join this band, called Death Dealer. I say, ‘Who else is in the band? They say, ‘Rhino on drums.’ I’m in! Stu goes, ‘It was either you or we would have asked KK Downing to be on guitar.’ Wow!”
As evidenced by such tunes as “Death Dealer,” “Never to Kneel,” and “The Devil’s Mile,” for fans of authentic, no-holds-barred, manly heavy metal, ‘Warmaster’ is an absolute godsend. And soon, Death Dealer will be converting metalheads worldwide to their cause. “Our future plans? Obviously to put Death Dealer on the worldwide metal map, and to engage large crowds and render them shocked and satisfied.”
Death Dealer is:
Sean Peck – vocals
Stu Marshall – guitar
Ross the Boss – guitar
Mike Davis- bass
Rhino – drums

Canadian progressive metal pioneers VOIVOD have now released their 13th studio album, Target Earth! To hear Target Earth in its entirety, please head over to Loudwire.com for the album stream. To purchase Target Earth, please visit iTunes for a digital copy or CM Distro for the album, plus a special bundle that includes the CD and an exclusive t-shirt.
Recorded at producer Pierre Rémillard’s Wild Studios in Quebec and mixed by Sanford Parker (PELICAN, NACHTMYSTIUM), Target Earth features artwork by drummer Away (Michel Langevin), who used color schemes from each one of the band’s previous albums to make this new masterpiece. The album brings back original bass player, Blacky (Jean Yves Thériault), marking his first recordings with the band since 1991’s Angel Rat. It’s also the first to feature guitarist Chewy (Daniel Mongrain), who cut his teeth playing guitar to the late Piggy’s (Denis D’Amour) riffs, and thus has matched his style to a tee. VOIVOD, as a full group, hadn’t sat down to write a record together since 2003’s self-titled album. The end result harkens back to the group’s late 80s output and after 30 years together as a band, one of their best yet.
Read on for a few reviews of VOIVOD’s critically acclaimed Target Earth:
“…the long-awaited proper follow-up to [‘Nothingface’].” — DECIBEL MAGAZINE (8/10)
“…the songs have enough complexity, heaviness, and clever arrangements to make ‘Target Earth’ the most riveting VOIVOD album in more than 20 years.” — OUTBURN MAGAZINE (8/10)
“‘Target Earth’ is an instant classic…a contender for Best Metal Album of 2013.” — METAL SUCKS.net
“Thirty years in, these Canadian legends are still cranking out vital and ripping tracks…” — BROOKLYN VEGAN.com
“This is VOIVOD back to business with their best record since 1990’s ‘Nothingface.'” — AOL NOISECREEP.com
Michel Langevin (Away) – drums
Denis Bélanger (Snake) – vocals
Jean-Yves Thériault (Blacky) – bass
Daniel Mongrain (Chewy) – guitar
Cleopatra Records has obtained the complete catalogue of San Francisco-based punk label, New Red Archives. On this new imprint, Anti-Flag, Christ on a Crutch, and Ultraman will be the first artists released in 2013.
New Red Archives was founded in 1987, and was first known for releasing punk and hardcore records on colored vinyl. While most of the roster was west coast-based (including The Badtown Boys, Dead Lazlo’s Place, and Samiam), the label reached west of the Mississippi as well to support underground bands like Kraut and Reagan Youth. With all of Cleopatra’s rereleases of New Red Archives records, the material will remain untouched and in its original sound.
On February 12, Anti-Flag’s politically-charged 1996 album, DIE FOR THE GOVERNMENT, will drop. The 17-track digipak features blistering anthems such as “You’ve Got To Die For The Government,” “Red, White And Brainwashed,” and “Police State In The USA.”
Two other limited edition classic hardcore records have just been released. SPREAD YOUR FILTH: THE DOUGHNUT AND BOURBON YEARS from Christ on a Crutch is a rarity from the D.C.-founded and Seattle-based band, known for playing shows that ended with a lot of destruction. Bassist Nate Mendel later went on to Sunny Day Real Estate and Foo Fighters. SPREAD YOUR FILTH includes “A Pillar Of Our Society” and “Food For Thought.”
THE CONSTANT WEIGHT OF ZERO is the final album by St. Louis-based hardcore band Ultraman. Ultraman toured the United States on several album releases from the late 1980s to mid-1990 with Suicidal Tendencies, Dead Milkmen, and more. A special bonus EP comes with THE CONSTANT WEIGHT OF ZERO, with recordings by Ultraman offshoot Krissy Fit and live videos.
Also out now is a limited edition 3 CD set of essential hardcore punk tracks, HARDCORE BREAKOUT 1,2,3… With more than 75 tracks, this epic collection features some of New Red Archives best – Jawbreaker, No Use For A Name, U.K. Subs, Samiam, Kraut, Hogan’s Heroes, and many more.
