A busy week for gothic orchestral metallers Hanging Doll sees them release “The Sacred & Profane” on 3rd September 2012 on Rocksector Records, whilst making the song “Dark Narcissus (The Forest)” available immediately for free mp3 download. A new video featuring the title track from the album has also been made available featuring a combination of live footage & studio sessions, meanwhile Powerplay magazine have recognized the band with a double-page feature in the September issue out now.
Critical praise has been forthcoming not least from Dom Lawson of Metal Hammer who describes the album as “Bold, epic & inventive with Sally’s glorious voice leading the charge.. this is superlative gothic heaviness with brains, balls & bags of ideas”
The first video, “Carnival Of Sin” released earlier this year has attracted in excess of 13,000 views on Youtube & whilst the shorter catchy side of the compositions is shown there, the new video reveals some of the deeper, darker, progressive elements of the album.
2012 has been a year of high points with Hanging Doll already playing as special guests with legendary former-UFO & Scorpions guitarist Michael Schenker, visiting France, Austria & Czech Republic on that tour. Looking ahead they play a showcase event on 23rd November at London Underworld, with German metallers Mono Inc. & on 15th December the band returns to Manchester, playing at Moho Live in Rocksector’s “Winter Fuel” showcase – more details to come.
“The Sacred & Profane” is released today (3rd September) & is available to buy now on CD at online stores such as Play.com, Amazon.co.uk & HMV.com, & to download at iTunes.

Harakiri, the new studio album from singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet and political activist Serj Tankian is set to be released July 10th on Reprise Records/Serjical Strike. Harakiri, a Japanese word meaning ritualistic suicide, is the follow up to 2010’s Imperfect Harmonies and the third solo release from the System Of A Down frontman.

Harakiri is presently available for pre-order on the singer’s official website. $2 from the sale of each pre-order will be donated to a non-profit organization to fight global hunger. Serj and the rest of his bandmates in System of a Down will be performing a handful of dates in August. Serj is also confirmed to be part of Slipknot’s Knotfest August 16th and 17th.

All female, teenage rock band Cherri Bomb are exploding on to the scene with their upcoming debut album, This Is Out of Control. The Los Angeles based group (managed by ex-Hole drummer Samantha Maloney) are now exclusively streaming album track, “Raw. Real.,” over at AltPress.com. The track is also available for free download on the band’s official site.
Cherri Bomb recently unveiled the track listing for the album (below), which will be available May 15th on Hollywood Records. In support of the release – and with many performances at major festivals across Europe and Australia already on their resume – the band will be heading to Asbury Park, New Jersey on May 19th to play The Bamboozle Festival alongside Foo Fighters, Blink 182, and Bon Jovi.

Fresh off a string of dates with REV THEORY, GIRL ON FIRE has wasted no time getting their show back on the road. Starting on January 12th, GIRL ON FIRE will head out with Burn Halo (featuring former members of 18 Visions) and Hell or Highwater (featuring former members of Atreyu) in support of their Hollywood Waste debut EP, Revenge. “We can’t tell you how happy we are to get back out on the road so soon, and with two amazing bands,” says vocalist Austin Held. “The tour will be a trip through most western states, so east coast friends hang tight because we will get out to hang with you all soon! UK rockers HEAVEN’S BASEMENT have announced three shows to end the year and welcome in the festive season. Their Xmas gift comes in the form of three (nearly) free shows in Sheffield, Manchester and London.
Drummer Chris Rivers explains: “Three special shows packed with all the energy of a full Heaven’s Basement tour, everything you expect from our live show and more. It’ll be the first chance for everyone to have a taste of Heaven’s Basement 2012 before the year is out. What better time for a huge party with everyone than a few days before Christmas?”
It being the season of goodwill, Heaven’s Basement have teamed up with Teenage Cancer Trust, and are asking for a £1 minimum donation to the charity in exchange for admission, which will be on a first come first serve basis.
The band have been working on their long-awaited debut album, which is set for a spring 2012 release via Red Bull Records, who they’ve recently signed with. You can download Heaven Basement’s new song, ‘Paper Plague’ for free at this link.
