It’s been 40 years strong and Y&T has had their share of trials, but on the 2014 World Tour, Dave Meniketti shows that what started as a ground breaking effort four-decades ago continues to be the leader in what makes American Hard Rock the legendary sound fans clamor to witness live on stage. Y&T has pulled out all the stops and is packing venues across the USA and around the world!
With the scheduled dates shown on the band’s website at www.yandtrocks.com, the band has performed over 600 shows in all the prime locations major market rock bands have performed in the past decade, including the past three Monster’s of Rock Cruises, and they continue to sell albums from their recorded history with 28 releases and nearly half a dozen DVD’s showcasing what makes the band’s music a fan favorite in the hard rock genre. Songs penned by the band have been placed in film; national commercial spots and they continue to play on FM radio and across the Internet on a vast array of rock stations that keep Y&T in rotation year after year. So one may ask, how does a band classified as “hair metal” continue to thrive in today’s pop driven market? The answer is revealed in the band’s 40-year history.
In 1974, an Oakland, California based cover band rearranged their line-up and put pen to paper to write original material that spoke of rock and roll interests and featured hard driving guitar licks, straight forward drum beats and lyrical content that fans could sing along to as the band performed. It’s true, rock and roll existed and the band wasn’t re-inventing the wheel – but Y&T were driving that wheel harder and faster. The result would eventually sign the band to A&M Records where Y&T would produce 8 anthemic hard rock albums that would secure their name as a cornerstone in the market that would later bring out bands including Motley Crue, Cinderella, Skid Row and even Metallica! It’s a proven fact, written in black and white; throngs of successful hard rock artists cite Y&T as an inspiration that led them to write and perform the music they do, offering that Y&T paved the way for the So-Cal hard rock explosion … from far up north in Oakland, CA a decade earlier than bands like Guns n’ Roses, Bon Jovi and Poisonstarted popping up on MTV.
Re-launching the 2014 tour after a two week reprieve, Y&T took the stage at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA just before9:00pm announcing to the audience that they were granted a full two hours to perform and would be extending their live set to accommodate the time allotment. Opening the show with a recorded track of ripping guitar leads as the lights went down, the band walked on stage to a thundering applause. Interacting on a personal level from the stage with stories from behind the music and an extreme showing of gratitude to fans that have supported the continued success of the band since their inception, Dave Menikettiand the band even spent well over an hour after the show meeting fans and taking photos, signing albums and CDs and reminiscing with fans that told their favorite stories from seeing the band perform over the years.
The band’s line-up since the untimely passing of founding bassist Phil Kennemore in 2011 has included Dave Meniketti (Lead Vocals/Lead Guitar), John Nymann (Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals), Brad Lang (Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals) and Mike Vanderhule (Drums/Percussion and Backing Vocals). On stage during the May 8th show, the band offered a 20-song set that covered their musical history, as follows:
01. Open Fire (1982)
02. Mean Streak (1983)
03. Lipstick And Leather (1984)
04. Don’t Stop Running (1984)
05. Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark (1990)
06. Dirty Girl (1981)
07. Midnight In Tokyo (1983)
08. Black Tiger (1982)
09. Winds Of Change (1982)
10. I’m Coming Home (2010)
11. Eyes Of A Stranger (1987)
12. I Want Your Money (2010)
13. Contagious (1987)
14. I’ll Cry For You (1987)
15. Rock & Roll’s Gonna Save The World (1984)
16. Rescue Me (1981)
17. Summertime Girls (1985)
18. I Believe In You (1981)
19. Barroom Boogie (1982)

Yesterday on the I-93 in New Hampshire on the way to Quebec City for their show with Avenged Sevenfold and Hellyeah the members and crew from ADRENALINE MOB suffered a near fatal car crash. The accident destroyed the band’s gear and their van. Fortunately, everyone survived and the injuries are temporary.
At this point the band is forced to cancel the tour and return home to recover and rest. Remaining shows were with Avenged Sevenfold and Hellyeah as well as headlining shows up until June 8.
The band band made this statement on their Facebook page:
“We are sad to announce that the band has been in a serious accident yesterday traveling to Canada on the current A7X/Hellyeah Tour. The band & crew are pretty beat up but by the grace of God there’s no serious injuries & everyone is ok. Unfortunately the trailer flipped & equipment has been destroyed but they are figuring out the next move in hopes to continue on. Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts & prayers!!!”
We will keep you posted on any developments and re-scheduling.
After a fantastic night of hard rock on Friday night, it was going to take a lot to top Friday night’s performances.
One big surprise this year was the new permanent side stage that was erected for this and other festival shows. The new second stage is far bigger than the original side stage at M3, and its placement at the base of a hill gave a better vantage point for the fans in attendance. This was the beginning of a day of surprises at M3.
When the M3 Rock Festival began late Saturday morning, Heavens Edge quickly set the stage with a blistering performance of their biggest songs, most of which came from their outstanding 1990 debut. Much to my surprise, this wasn’t a bunch of hired hands playing with Heaven’s Edge singer Mark Evans, this was the original band. Evans voice was in perfect form, and Reggie Wu was delivering with all of these heavy riffs that I expected from Heaven’s Edge. I have always loved this band, and thought their debut was severely underrated. Their debut album/CD has been reissued for Rock Candy records, and I highly recommend that you check it out.
Shortly after Heavens Edge’s set, KEEL was ready to rock on the main stage, and they came out all guns firing. Ron Keel looked and sounded great, as did Marc Ferrari, Brian Jay, and company. One of my favorite KEEL albums is their 1987 self titled disc on MCA records. Needless to say I was very happy to hear “Somebody’s Waiting”, but I would have loved to have heard a couple of more from this album. KEEL’s set was way too short in my opinion, but they were great, and I enjoyed their music.
Next up on the second stage was former The Scream, Union and Motley Crue front man John Corabi. I had no expectations with John’s set whatsoever, but I have never seen him live, and was greatly looking forward to his set. I thought he may just do his acoustic thing that he has been doing in the clubs, but he had with him a full electric band. John’s set list made me very happy. I was excited to hear one of my all time favorites”Man in the Moon” (from the Scream), and lost Motley Crue tunes “Uncle Jack” and “Hooligan’s Holiday”. It is a shame that Motley Crue has forgotten about that great album with John Corabi. I am so glad that Corabi still does this music. I really dig Corabi’s new look too.
On the main stage, Jack Russell’s Great White was next, and this was another band that my expectations were kind of low on. I gotta say, Jack Russell’s Great White is far better than I expected them to be. While I thought Jack Russell was looking a little frail on stage, his voice was in great form, and I gotta give him a lot of credit. This version of Great White may not have all of the original members, but I gotta say this version sounds the most like the band I remember from my late teens and beyond. I don’t know where Jack Russell found his guitarist Robby Lochner, but this guy is great, and a lot of fun to watch perform. Kudos to Great White for bringing it at M3, and putting on a great show. I hope I can catch this band live again soon.
Femme Fatale is another band that I never got to see back in the day. I still remember the day when I found their out of print CD in a local record shop. I squealed like a school girl when I found it. I was tickled to death to see Lorraine Lewis and company perform. This was obviously not the original band. Lorraine brought an all female band with her and I gotta say they definitely rocked. Lorraine Lewis was having a great time, and the fans seemed to love the band’s set as much as I did.
Moving back to the main stage was Stryper. I still remember their last appearance at M3 vividly, and I was kind of miffed by their shortened set that year. 2014 made up for that show with a longer set. Of course I gotta hear a bunch of my Styper favorites including “To Hell With The Devil”, “Soldiers Under Command”, “Free”, “Calling On You”. One of the nice surprises, was Stryper doing a a cover of “Shout It Out Loud” from KISS. I love their version on their CD The Covering, but it was awesome to see them do this live. Stryper set was one of the highlights at the 2014 M3 Rock Festival, but the best performances of the day were yet to come.
More on those later in our Saturday Review part 2.
A more detailed report on the guitar’s discovery can be read in a yesterday’s story in the Chicago Tribune.

Last Friday night, the M3 Rock Festival started its Friday night KIX off party in style, with not one, not two, but 5 great bands to kick off this awesome annual pilgrimage of classic hard rock. The weather was abysmal, but that did not stop the record crowd from pouring into the Merriweather Post Pavilion
Baltimore’s Bad Seed Rising started off the show, with a tight set of heavy tunes. These young rockers sound great and have a lot of potential. If you haven’t checked them out yet, visit their Facebook page here.
We missed the first few songs from Winger, as we were busy talking to KIX frontman Steve Whiteman (Interview coming to HRH soon). We missed hearing the new Winger tunes from their new album Better Days Comin’, but we did see the band perform most of their classic hits including: “Can’t Get Enough”, “Down Incognito”, “Madalaine” and “Seventeen”. Kip Winger and company sounded great.
Lita Ford was up next, and Lita’s set was not without some surprises of its own. Lita’s former Runaway band mate Cherie Currie joined her on stage for some Runaways classics including “Cherry Bomb”, “American Nights” and “Queens of Noise”. It was a great rock moment, and completely unexpected.
Nothing could have prepared me for what came next. Extreme took the stage at M3 for the first time since the very first M3 in 2009. From the very first note, Extreme was on fire! Gary Cherone was looking great, and sounding even better. Nuno Bettencourt was a lot of fun to watch, as he laid down his incredible guitar licks for those classic Extreme tunes. Extreme pulled off one of the best performances of the weekend, and easily the best of the Friday Night KIX Off party. I can only hope that Extreme will put out some new music, and tour, even if it is on a limited basis. This one off performance was not enough. Hopefully they will get an invite to M3 2015.
Speaking of new music, Hagerstown heros, KIX were the headliners once again at M3 and deservedly so. 2014 was the first time we have heard NEW KIX tunes at M3, and the new songs “Can’t Stop The Show” and “Love Me With The Top Down” were great. KIX has a new album coming out in July, and it can’t get here soon enough. Once again, KIX’s set was outstanding. Steve Whiteman’s vocals were perfect, and Brian Forsythe and Ronnie Younkins guitars were great as well. KIX is the one band that I always look forward to seeing at M3 every year, and they did not disappoint.
The M3 Rock Festival got off to a great start, and as great as Friday night was, Saturday was even better. More on that soon! Check out our photo gallery from the Friday Night, below!
For U.S. fans of Judas Priest that simply cannot wait for the July 15th release date of their latest classic metal album, ‘Redeemer of Souls,’ there is some relief on the way. On Tuesday, April 29th, the title track from the album will be available for purchase via iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/redeemer-of-souls-single/id863086125) and other digital service providers. And a clip of the song (plus the single’s artwork) is now available to sample at the band’s website, www.judaspriest.com.
If you are wondering what to expect from the mighty Priest on their forthcoming album, guitarist Glenn Tipton has set the record straight. “Sometimes in the past we may have come under fire for being too adventurous musically – so we have listened!! From start to finish ‘Redeemer of Souls’ is 13 songs of pure classic Priest metal!!”
There are only a select number of bands that have accomplished what Judas Priest has throughout their career (as well as having served as a stylistic influence on such a wide variety of bands). Soon the group – singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis – will be offering up more classic Judas Priest metal with the release of ‘Redeemer of Souls’.

Sacramento rock band TESLA have announced an all new LP titled SIMPLICITY due out June 10th, 2014 via Tesla Electric Company Recording’s arrangement with Entertainment One Music and Distribution.
SIMPLICITY will be the band’s seventh studio full length LP and fifteenth release overall. The new effort will be the followup to FOREVER MORE, which was released in October 2008 and featured the single “I Wanna Live.”
TESLA locked themselves away for weeks writing the new material that would become SIMPLICITY with long time A&R man Tom Zutaut. Fourteen solid tracks later the band sank their teeth in while recording began at bassist Brian Wheat’s very own J Street Recorders. Legendary engineer Michael Wagener (Metallica, Skid Row, Motley Crue) was then tapped to put the final touches in place.
Fresh off the MONSTERS OF ROCK CRUISE, the band has quite the itinerary of tour dates throughout the rest of 2014. Click here for all tour dates.
Formed in 1981, TESLA have firmly carved out their own space in rock and roll history. The band saw great success with their own rendition of the 1971 classic “Signs” and their own hit single “Love Song” from the The Great Radio Controversy, released in 1989.
Night Ranger fans can check out the band’s brand new video “High Road” below.
The rocking, feel-good new track/video is the first single from the forthcoming album of the same name. HIGH ROAD is due out on June 10th in North America via label home Frontiers Records. Produced by the band itself, HIGH ROAD will be available in two formats – a standard CD version and a deluxe version which includes one bonus track and a DVD featuring a background look at the making of the album along with video clips. HIGH ROAD can be pre-ordered now at Amazon as the standard version here, and as the deluxe version here. “High Road” is also available as an instant grat track for fans who pre-oder the album now via iTunes here.
Night Ranger‘s legendary hits “Sister Christian,” “(You Can Still) Rock in America,” and “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me” are songs that have each significantly impacted popular culture and expanded their ever-growing fanbase since the band’s inception thirty years ago. Over the years, the band’s music has made notable contributions to and been featured in many different areas of media and popular culture. Night Ranger‘s songs can be heard in the Rock Band and Guitar Hero video games; Rock of Ages hit Broadway musical and film; the Oscar-nominated film Boogie Nights; FOX’s hit TV Show American Dad; JBL’s “Hear The Truth” campaign; and many more! To date, Night Ranger has sold 17 million units worldwide and boasts several platinum- and gold-certified albums. Night Ranger is Jack Blades (bass guitar, vocals), Kelly Keagy (drums, vocals), Brad Gillis (lead & rhythm guitars), Joel Hoekstra (lead & rhythm guitars) and Eric Levy (keyboards).

Tesla is the headliner Saturday night at the M3 Rock Festival, and it is almost a given that you will get to hear one of their new songs at the show. While I am anxious to hear the new material from Sacramento’s finest, nothing beats some classic Tesla rock & roll. Check out the clips “Modern Day Cowboy”, “Edison’s Medicine”, “What You Give”, “Fallin’ Apart” and “I Wanna Live”.

Night Ranger’s second appearance at the M3 Rock Festival will take place this Saturday Night. Night Ranger often doesn’t get the credit they deserve for their live shows. Far too many fans only know this band for their biggest hit “Sister Christian”. While this is a great song, and a staple in the Night Ranger set, this song pales in comparison to the hard rockin’ numbers that Night Ranger plays live. Night Ranger is a tremendous live band, and one that should not be missed!
Check out the Night Ranger clips “Touch of Madness” (Unofficiatl video),
Night Ranger – Touch of Madness
Night Ranger – Growin’ Up In California
Night Ranger – Sing Me Away
Tickets are STILL available for the M3 rock festival. Please visit this link for tickets!
2014 is a very exciting year for KIX! Not only is the band returning as the Friday night headliner this coming Friday night (4/25) at the M3 Rock Festival, they are also releasing their first new album since 1995’s Show Business!
KIX always steals the show at M3, and will without question be one of the weekend highlights. If you have never seen KIX perform live, you have to come to the M3 Rock festival to perform.
Check out the clips below, live from M3 in 2009!
KIX – Blow My Fuse (Live)
KIX – Cold Blood (Live)
Tickets for M3 are STILL available. You can purchase tickets at this link!
Winger’s new CD, Better Days Comin’ gets released in the United States today (April 22nd!) This Friday night, at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, MD, you will have an excellent opportunity to hear Winger perform some of their new songs live.
Winger – Midnight Driver of a Love Machine
Winger – Rat Race
Winger – Tin Soldier
Yes, there are two versions of Queensryche performing live today. Geoff Tate has his version of the band, and Todd La Torre fronts another one. Some Queensryche fans are die hard Tate fans, and I understand that. Those of you that haven’t given Todd La Torre a chance need to check out the clips below. This version of the band will be at the M3 Rock Festival next Saturday night, and are a force to be reckoned with. I am looking forward to hearing Mr. La Torre sing, and hearing Queensryche dust off some of their harder tunes like “Queen of the Reich” that they haven’t played in far too long.
Queensryche – Queen of the Reich (Live)
Queensryche – Fallout
Queensryche – Redemption
Jake E. Lee’s triumphant return to the hard rock world has been a blessing to many hard rock fans’ ears. Jake E. Lee’s new band Red Dragon Cartel, has been playing a bunch of club shows across the U.S. and recently performed on the Monsters of Rock cruise. Next Saturday night, Red Dragon Cartel will be taking the stage at the M3 Rock Festival.
This hard rock fan couldn’t be more excited to hear Jake E. Lee perform, and his appearance at M3 may be my most anticipated moment of this awesome two day festival in Columbia, MD.
Check out the clips “Deceived” and “Shout It Out” below.
Tickets for the M3 Rock Festival are STILL available. Get your tickets at this link!
The Sixth Annual M3 Rock Festival starts next Friday, and the 2014 lineup is stronger than ever. Each year, the fine folks at the Merriweather Post Pavillion bring in some of the finest classic rock acts in the U.S This year’s festival includes some first time acts at M3 including Autograph, Heaven’s Edge, Jake E. Lee’s Red Dragon Cartel, Femme Fatale, and John Corabi. (Corabi has been at M3 before with RATT, but never as a solo artist).
Friday Night’s headliner is Kix, and Saturday Night’s is Tesla. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Queensryche with Todd La Torre, or Jack Russell’s Great White, look no further. If you haven’t seen Extreme, Night Ranger or Stryper live, don’t miss this excellent opportunity to see them perform.
Overall, it is seventeen bands for a reasonable price, and tickets are STILL available. Don’t miss your chance to check out one of the coolest music festivals of the year.
Check out clips from Heaven’s Edge, Femme Fatale and Autograph below.
Heaven’s Edge – Skin to Skin
Femme Fatale – Falling In And Out of Love
Autograph – Turn up the Radio
Neal Schön fans can check out the new video for “What You Want” below. The smoking new track/video is taken from the forthcoming jazz and blues-inspired hard rock studio album, SO U, and includes vocals by bassist Marco Mendoza and Schön, as well as drummer Deen Castronovo. SO U features Schön along with Mendoza (Black Star Riders, Ted Nugent, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy) and Castronovo (Journey, Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai, Hardline) splitting vocal and writing duties, with many of the tracks also co-written by Night Ranger/Damn Yankee’s songwriter, singer and bassist Jack Blades.
Of the new album, Ultimate Classic Rock raved, “”SO U stands tall as one of the finest albums that Neal Schön has released to date. The combination of Schön with Deen Castronovo and Marco Mendoza is a potent triple threat which delivers on every level. With nine tracks spread over 51 minutes, SO U never overstays its welcome and the typically diverse blend of material will strongly resonate with fans of Schön’s previous work, most notably Santana and Journey. I’ll be standing by and waiting for a sequel.” SO U will be available on May 19th in North America via Frontiers Records. The album can be pre-ordered now via iTunes, Amazon and via the Journey online store; those who purchase SO U now via iTunes will receive “Exotica” as an instant gratification track.
Best known as the founding member and lead guitarist of Journey, Neal Schön has enjoyed a remarkable career as one of rock n’ roll’s top virtuosos, with a hand in creating some of the most popular songs of all time. Beginning his career 45 years ago in the San Francisco Bay area, the 15-year-old guitar prodigy left home to join Santana. Schön moved on in 1973 to form Journey. With Journey and other projects, he has earned 19 Top 40 singles and 25 platinum and gold albums, was awarded the prestigious “Legend Of Live Award” at the 2011 Billboard Touring Awards, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005 and was individually inducted into his native state’s Oklahoma Music Hall Of Fame in 2013. Along with Journey band members Steve Perry and Jonathan Cain, Schön is responsible for co-writing “Don’t Stop Believin’,” the 20th century’s most downloaded song. As the only member to record on all of Journey’s albums, Schön continues with the band today in its latest incarnation.
In addition to 6 solo albums and 14 studio albums with Journey, Neal Schön has also performed with Joe Cocker, Sammy Hagar, Paul Rodgers, Larry Graham, Betty Davis, Michael Bolton, fusion legend Jan Hammer, Hardline and supergroup Bad English, as well as a variety of side projects. His latest instrumental solo album, THE CALLING, released in 2012 via Frontiers Records, won rave reviews from fans and the media alike, with Vintage Guitar declaring “THE CALLING is a fine piece of work demonstrating that Schön still has it going on – and then some…The songs are strong and his guitar tones are absolutely luxurious.” In demand as one of the leading guitarists of his generation, Schönalso worked with Gibson to manufacture his own limited edition “Neal Schön Signature Model Custom Les Paul” guitar, but now uses custom PRS Neal Schon LTD Private Stock guitars, made especially for Neal by Paul Reed Smith.
As you have surely heard by now, KISS is going on tour this summer with Def Leppard. And while this is bound to be a nostalgic concert full of bombs, rock screams, and plenty of guitar solos, I find myself wondering once again what setlist will KISS trot out? Recently, the band has gone out of their way to belabor the fact that Ace and Peter were not the only guitarist and drummer the band had and that their legacy expands beyond the four original members. If Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley want to be true to that statement, this 40th anniversary tour is the perfect time for them to drive that point home.
Every time KISS goes on tour, they bring out a very similar, if not identical, setlist to the previous tour. Even when they release a new album, only one song from the album gets performed while the band is in America. Once they head overseas, they take a few more risks and play additional songs from the new record, but it never seems to happen in the states. Now they are celebrating 40 years as a band, without a record to promote. This is their prime opportunity to really tap into their catalog and dust off some hits that haven’t been played in years.
I suspect that the band will have between 80 and 90 minutes of stage time and I realize that there are some hits they have to play. A couple of years ago, KISS did bring back “Crazy, Crazy Nights,” and I thought that was a high point to their show. But why stop there? Why not really mix it up and play some tracks that people almost forgot existed. I get that deep cuts like “Almost Human” and “Sweet Pain” probably aren’t going to be played, but how about pulling out “Shandi” in the USA? What if they were to skip “I Was Made For Loving You” and decided that “Hard Luck Woman” was a better fit? I can’t speak for all fans, but I know that this KISS fan would be in all his glory. I know that “Rock And Roll All Nite” is getting performed. I am sure that “Love Gun,” “Lick It Up,” and “Firehouse” will be performed. And all of those songs are great. All I ask is that the band takes a chance and mixes in some other great songs from their catalog.
I would love to hear “I” off of Music From The Elder, or “Mr. Speed” from Rock And Roll Over. “Love ‘Em and Leave ‘Em,” or “Uh! All Night” would be a dream come true. Hell even “Outta This World,” or “Never Enough” would be welcomed treats at this point. I’ve been seeing this band live since the 90s and I know what they are capable of. During the period of time when the makeup was off, Kiss performed songs from their entire catalog. But once the makeup went back on, they stuck to the safe hits. Now, it’s time to celebrate 40 years of Kiss. They even have a (yet another) greatest hits album coming out that includes one song from each record they’ve ever recorded. Why not structure the setlist in a similar fashion? For longtime/diehard fans, it would be a spectacular experience. And there could still be plenty of hits to keep the casual fan satisfied.
I will be seeing the band this summer, and I truly hope that they will go out of their way to mix it up, but I won’t hold my breath waiting to see anything out of the ordinary. Perhaps KISS will surprise me this year, and that would be lovely, but I expect to get the same 15 or 16 hits they’ve played for the last decade. And for a band that has a history as deep and long as theirs, that’s a real shame. If I had a say (and boy, I wish I did) this would be my setlist for the 40th anniversary tour:
I Just Wanna
I Love It Loud
Outta This World
Uh! All Night
I Still Love You
Nothing To Lose
Detroit Rock City
Heaven’s On Fire
Rock And Roll All Nite
What about you? Are you tired of the same setlist? Do you wish that KISS would mix it up, or are you just happy that they are still touring? Drop a line in the comments and let us know your thoughts!
ROCK LEGEND ACE FREHLEY SIGNS
WORLDWIDE MULTI ALBUM DEAL WITH
ENTERTAINMENT ONE MUSIC
“SPACE INVADER,” FIRST NEW ALBUM
IN FIVE YEARS, AVAILABLE ON 6/24/14
2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee ACE FREHLEY will release SPACE INVADER, his first new solo album in five years, via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music) on June 24th, 2014. The album will include at least nine brand new original songs as well as a cover of Steve Miller’s “The Joker.” This album is the first release under Frehley’s new universal deal on eOne Music.
Frehley has released an official statement surrounding the exciting news:
Widely known as the original “Space Ace” and founding guitarist for 16 cumulative years (over 2 tenures) of the multi platinum selling rock band KISS, Frehley is demonstrably the most popular original member. In addition to having the best selling solo album career (vintage or current) among the original foursome, Frehley’s self titled Ace Frehley, released in 1978, went on to sell over one million copies, producing the only Top 40 single, “New York Groove,” from any of the legendary KISS solo albums; (peaking at #13). The massive hit was most recently featured in an episode of cult show “Entourage” and was also KISS’ second bestselling download in 2012, besting such KISS Army anthems as “I Was Made For Lovin’ You,” “Beth” and “Calling Dr. Love” even after 36 years.Since departing from KISS, Frehley went on to release four more solo albums and one live EP including his most recent effort, Anomaly in 2009, which debuted at #27 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and received a welcoming response among critics. “’Anomaly’ shows why many rock and metal guitarists list ‘Space Ace’ as a prime six-string influence,” said Rolling Stone.ACE FREHLEY will participate in the 2014 REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS show by presenting the Dimebag Darrell “Best Guitarist” Award alongside label-mate Zakk Wylde. The awards show will take place on April 23, 2014 at the CLUB NOKIA Theater in Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale now!
Frehley adds comment.
