Exactly one year ago Tuesday, Rikki wandered into The Stage and saw singer-songwriter Melanie Martel singing. Another guy on the stage invited him up to play drums.
First, he fell in love with Martel’s voice during the Doobie Brothers song “China Grove” to be exact. After the set was over, he asked to buy her a drink.
Rockett said, “I said, ‘Can buy you a drink?’ and she says, ‘You can do whatever you want’,” and he wasn’t embellishing.
…”He said, ‘Can I buy you a drink?’ and I said, ‘You can do whatever you want’,” said Martel.
Rockett invited her to the Poison show at Starwood the next night and since then, the two have been inseparable.
Rockett proposed to her at The Stage Monday night.

Bret Michaels was on the Eddie Trunk show last night on XM41 the Boneyard. He mentioned the Tour Diary, and said it is really cool, and Poison fans should check it out.
Eddie Trunk and Bret had a pretty hearty discussion about the Rock of Love show that is starting up this weekend on VH-1. Bret said that he told VH-1, the only way he would do a show like this, is if it was completely unscripted. The first episode starts as a big party Bret Michaels style, and carries on from there. Bret was pretty funny last night, and mentioned quite a few of the odd and humorous things that happened while taping the show.
I had no desire to watch this show, but after hearing Bret talk, I am going to have to watch it now.
Rock of Love premieres this weekend on VH1, Sunday at July 15th at 9 P.M.

ANOTHER ANIMAL, the new band featuring GODSMACK members Shannon Larkin (drums), Robbie Merrill (bass) and Tony Rombola (guitar), alongside vocalist Whitfield Crane (UGLY KID JOE, LIFE OF AGONY, MEDICATION) and DROPBOX guitarist Lee Richards, will release its long-awaited, self-titled debut album on October 2 via Republic/Universal. The CD’s first single, “Broken Again”, will go for radio adds on August 28 (postpone from the previously announced July 23).
Rombola recently told Launch that he and the other two GODSMACK members envisioned the project as a way to keep busy while vocalist Sully Erna was doing other things. “Sully, you know, he’s always doing other projects and other things,” Tony said. “He has books and he acts and he does a lot of things. He was considering taking a break after this last cycle. We figured it would be cool to have our own chance to express ourselves, you know, a little more. The GODSMACK records, we have our input, but overall Sully has the final say, so it was really satisfying for everyone in the band to get to really master their department.”
ANOTHER ANIMAL‘s debut disc features a number of songs written for the latest GODSMACK effort, “IV”, which didn’t make that CD’s final track listing.

Balance to Return!
Shaking off the cobwebs of a 25 year slumber, BALANCE, the iconic legendary 80’s band who released such AOR masterpieces as “In For The Count” and the self titled debut, resurfaces with a vengeance.
Grammy Award winning producer / guitarist Bob Kulick whose credits read like a who’s who of Hard Rock and Metal music (Kiss, Motorhead, Wasp, Alice Cooper etc) again joins forces with one of the greatest singers of the AOR genre, former Blues Magoos, Barnaby Bye, Wiggy Bits, vocalist/ musician Peppy Castro and the other Grammy Award winning keyboardist/vocalist Doug Katsaros who has made a major mark in every musical genre, from playing with Dee Snider and Paul Stanley to working with Elton John, Rod Stewart and even on Broadway musicals.
These super talents announce the return of BALANCE with a 12 song cd of ALL new material to be released on Frontiers Records in the coming months.
“It’s my second childhood. I get to relive the glory of Balance from a more relaxed perspective” says Castro, and Katsaros feels the same: “To me it feels much more relaxed, we can simply make cool music, without the concerns normally associated with making a record – we are all at such a high plateau in our current situations, I actually think it allows us to be more at ease, less stressed, and the music reflects that”.
“After the demise/breakup of the band in 1983”, says Kulick, “I toured the world as a lead guitarist with various artists (Meatloaf, Paul Stanley etc.) and everywhere I’d go I’d get great comments from fans and press alike, saying how they dug BALANCE and its music.. .it always amazed me. I can’t wait for those fanatics to be satiated at last by our new cd”.
“We have a very healthy attitude” segues Castro, “The music breathes and we’ve been able to connect very well with each other. The great thing is that we are all such productive people. So there will be an abundance of material and we will edit our selves down to the best of the bunch and that will be the record”.
Recording of the yet untitled new album has commenced in Los Angeles and NY and the band are well into it now.
“Anyone who is or was ever a fan will not be dissappointed, in fact, there may finally be an international hit amongst the tunes on this new outing – we have all matured, and what’s coming out is simply fantastic! Like the best of both of our earlier records. After all nobody sings better than Peppy, nobody rocks better than Bob, and who better in America to toss around some fat synth patches than me?” concludes Katsaros.
Further info will be released in the coming weeks.

Don’t miss the man !
If you’re talking about today’s European top metal acts the discussion is heading straight towards Primal Fear. Former Gamma Ray vocalist Ralf Scheepers and bassist/vocalist Mat Sinner, two of the most respected German metal musicians founded the band in late 1997. They recorded their first Primal Fear songs for the Japan based record company JVC Records, together with drummer Klaus Sperling and guitarist Tom Naumann. They got signed immediately and Germany’s best kept secret became soon a target for many of the European record companies. The band finally signed to Nuclear Blast Records in early 1998 for the rest of the world.
The debut album, simply called Primal Fear was released in March 1998 and entered the German album charts straight on position 48, soon followed by similar chart success in Japan. The band recruited guitarist Stefan Leibing to their line up and started touring together with Running Wild and Hammerfall. The second PF album Jaws Of Death entered the German Charts on position 49 in July 1999, followed by their first headlining World Tour. The tour was a huge success incl. countries like Brazil, Japan and of course Europe. A kind of PF hysteria broke free and surprised all metalheads, who couldn’t understand, what kind of thunder was raging above them!
Primal Fear released another 3 studio very successful studio albums (“Nuclear Fire”, “Black Sun” and “Seven Seals”) which entered the Top 100 charts in many European countries. After some line-up changes (that brought in Canadian drummer Randy Black) and the release of a “Best of” album aptly entitled “Metal Is Forever”, Primal Fear waved goodbye to Nuclear Blast and signed a new recording contract with Frontiers Records.
Primal Fear started the songwriting for their next studio album in October 2006 and the recordings started shortly later, again at the House Of Music studio with engineer & co-producer Charlie Bauerfeind (Blind Guardian, Saxon, Hammerfall) and longtime producer and band member Mat Sinner. Randy Black proved again, that he’s one of the world class drummers at the moment and singer Ralf Scheepers delivered his most exciting and outstanding vocal performance ever. Most of the guitars were played by Stefan Leibing. Starbreaker and Allan/Lande producer/guitarist Magnus Karlsson helped out with two stunning guitar solos, before Henny Wolter rejoined the band and played some more lead & rhythm guitars on the album. Epica’s lead singer Simone Simons was invited to studio to sing the first duet in Primal Fear recording history, the song Everytime It Rains which seems to be the next hit in Fear’s recording career. For the first time, the band moved to the Galaxy Studio in Belgium, to work with award winning engineer Ronald Prent (Rammstein, Iron Maiden, Manowar) on the mix of the album.
And another song is surprising with a huge wall of atmosphere and drama Fighting The Darkness, divided in 3 different parts, the first part ‘Fighting The Darkness’ is – according to Mat Sinner – the best sounding tune, the band has released so far, followed by a huge instrumental ‘The Darkness’ and a ‘Reprise’.
Primal Fear improved their sound to the max and again the orchestra arrangements by Matz Ulmer and Mat Sinner reached an incredible quality standard. But not only this part of Primal Fear’s music sounds reloaded today and more powerful than ever before. The album opener Sign Of Fear metals like hell with extreme and very sovereign vocals by Ralf, followed by the cool paced melodic highlight Face The Emptiness. More typical songs like Blood On Your Hands, Psycho or Too Much Time will please Fear’s Nuclear Fire fans, while the title track New Religion, The Curse Of Sharon and World On Fire shows Primal Fear at their best, with a combination between powerful riffs and fantastic melodies! The album’s final song The Man (that I don’t know) is a very strong and outstanding ballad, with superb vocal and guitar performances!
Two video clips were recently produced for Fighting The Darkness and Sign Of Fear.
New Religion is the most competent and powerful Primal Fear album ever. The band improved their sound with a lot of new ideas and a lot of courage. The album will be released worldwide on September 21st 2007 by Frontiers Records and their partners.
The album will be available upon release in 2 versions:
1. LMITED EDITION in digipak which will feature 2 bonus videos (Fighting The Darkness and Sign Of Fear)
2. REGULAR EDITION in Jewel box + slipcase with regular track listing and NO video added.
The Primal Fear New Religion World Tour starts on Oct 6th in Atlanta/USA, followed European Tour in October and November. A Japan Tour is already booked in December plus more European Dates on Xmas. Another visit to the US & South America is panned for early 2008.
Primal Fear is all fired up and totally dedicated to bring their new songs to the stages of the world!

L.A. hard rock outfit recalls an old Seattle favorite
Maybe you’ve heard the galvanizing new single on rock radio—the one with the huge, inexorable riff and the oh-so-powerfully-familiar vocal track, the lead singer wailing like a banshee in the throes of some berserker madness. The name of the song is “Soulcrusher,” and no, it’s not a lost track from Seattle-era superheavies Soundgarden, nor is it a fresh cut from ex-‘garden frontman Chris Cornell’s new solo album.
The band’s name is Operator, a Los Angeles-based five-piece rock outfit fronted by Johnny Strong, a young mixed martial arts enthusiast possessed of a distinctly Cornellian set of pipes.
A group of mostly unknown SoCal-area up-and-comers, Operator also features one established rocker in the person of former Floridian Paul Phillips, ex-guitarist for the poor-man’s-Nirvana Nu-metal outfit Puddle of Mudd. The band is currently touring, playing a series of free and low-cost radio-sponsored shows in support of its forthcoming Atlantic Records debut Soulcrusher .
“Chris Cornell is one of the greatest rock singers of all time, so I think it could be worse,” Phillips says of the comparisons, which have followed the band ever since the release of the “Soulcrusher” single.
“You could be compared to way worse,” he continues. “It is what it is. He opens his mouth and that’s what he sounds like, so it’s not like he’s going, ‘oh, I’ve got to sound like Cornell.’ It’s just what happens. Luckily, Johnny’s got an amazing voice and he nails it every night. So we certainly don’t take the comparison as a criticism, and we’re not complaining about it.”
Phillips joined the roughly four-year-old band two years ago. A Jacksonville ex-pat, he’d been living in Los Angeles since 1999, when he journeyed westward to enlist in Puddle of Mudd. He stayed with the band through two successful major label releases before quitting in 2004, a move motivated by both musical and personal differences.
“It came a time where I had to leave [Puddle of Mudd] to maintain my sanity and my integrity,” Phillips says. “I had to jump ship. I put out a bunch of calls, and got a call back from a friend who said, ‘hey, there’s a guy in L.A. who sings with this band called Operator, and you should really check them out.’
“So I went over to Johnny’s house and we started writing and demo-ing songs. We got the demos to Atlantic and Atlantic liked them. Since then, everything’s been great.”
Strong’s is the band’s dominant personality—its principle songwriter, its stellar vocal talent, and its most striking visual presence with his shirtless, carved physique, honed through years of martial arts training.
Phillips says Strong no longer competes—at least not regularly—in mixed martial arts tournaments, as he did prior to the band’s signing with Atlantic. “It’s not as serious anymore, just because we can’t have him showing up with a broken nose or something,” Phillips says. “We try to limit the competitions. You can’t go busting out a knee when you have to go on stage and rock.”
But he says Strong still trains fanatically, cleaving to a diet of mostly organic foods, even on the road with a collection of bandmates still prone to rock-star excess. “There’s the healthy side of the band and the crazy side of the band,” Phillips laughs. “There’s definitely a lot of partying going on, especially where I’m concerned. Johnny, definitely no, but with the rest of the band… we go from one end of the spectrum to the complete opposite.”
It remains to be seen whether the rest of Operator’s Atlantic debut, due out July 10, will fulfill the promise of the band’s crushing first single—though an early Penthouse review gave the Soulcrusher album five stars, calling it a must-have for rock fans still misty-eyed for the heyday of Grunge. “I think we turned in a true album,” Phillips says, “not like one of those bands that just has one song.
“I think I hear a little bit of the spirit of rock coming back in music now, that spirit from the time when rock was dangerous and had substance. When rock wasn’t just a faceless song that sounded good on the radio. It seems like there’s more straight up rock’n’roll. People just want to play the guitar and turn it up loud. Play it like it’s meant to be played.”

Which Ulster band is supporting the Stones? Here’s The Answer
Ulster rockers The Answer today told of their amazement at securing their biggest concert to date – supporting The Rolling Stones in front of 80,000 people in Serbia.
They also supported Aerosmith at Hyde Park in London.
The Stones gig is the latest in a series of successes for the band, who count tennis legend Pat Cash among their fans.
The re-release of their album Rise shipped over 10,000 in its first few weeks.
Speaking from Wimbledon, where he was planning to meet up with Australian star Cash later, The Answer’s frontman Cormac Neeson said he was still pinching himself about the massive support slot.
“It’s just amazing. The Rolling Stones are just about the best rock ‘n’ roll band of all time and so many of their albums have influenced The Answer, so to be asked to support them is such an honour,” he said.
“We were in Dublin supporting The Who at the weekend when we got word of the gig.
“We’ve been buzzing ever since.”
Cormac said the band had enjoyed a brilliant summer so far.
“The album sales are doing well and we’ve had great feedback on our MySpace page,” he said.
“And the Aerosmith gig was great. We played in front of about 60,000 people and the weather held for that one hour that we were on.
“The crowd stretched for as far as the eye could see and the atmosphere was brilliant.
“I decided just to relax and enjoy it and not get too nervous and that’s the attitude I’m going to take with the Serbian gig.”
As yet, the band hasn’t been approached about supporting the Rolling Stones when they play Slane Castle in Ireland later in the summer.
“I’ve been to Croatia before but never to Serbia and I’m really looking forward to taking in the sights and sounds,” Cormac added.
Will Pat Cash be joining them on tour? “Who knows, he might have some tennis legends event to attend but we’ll see,” he said.
“Myself and Paul (Mahon, The Answer’s guitarist) have been invited to Wimbledon by Pat. We don’t know who we’re going to see, but it’ll be great catching up with Pat later.”

ROADRUNNER RECORDS SIGNS AUSTRALIAN ROCKERS AIRBOURNE:
Press Release / New York, NY- Roadrunner Records is proud to announce the signing of Aussie hard rockers, Airbourne. Forming a genuine brand of fist-pumping, beer-slinging rock ‘n’ roll, Airbourne have established a respectable name for themselves in their native country. Although still very young, the band sonically tears pages from the bible of anthemic rock of the 70’s and 80’s, taking us back to a time where music was loud, fiercely genuine and hook laden. Their dynamic and energetic live performances offer a much-needed cure for the downtrodden vibe of popular music. Much like their forefathers, Airbourne offers nothing but a good time! Airbourne is: brothers Joel O’Keeffe (vocals/lead guitar) and Ryan O’Keeffe (drums), David Roads (guitar) and Justin Street (bass).
Forming out of the musical connection of two brothers, Airbourne was conceived by Joel and Ryan O’Keeffe, and was vested in their mutual love for bands such as Rose Tattoo, Van Halen, Motörhead, AC/DC and The Angels. Later joined by David Roads and Justin Street, the quartet set out to make straightforward rock ‘n’ roll, complete with catchy choruses, decadent themes and the driving rhythm to match.
“It’s hard to explain,” vocalist/guitarist Joel O’Keeffe states, “but that’s what I always wanted to hear – straight-ahead Aussie pub rock.” The resulting product was a stripped down approach to rock with song titles to match the party oriented sentiment. Investing time and money for the love of the music, the band spent years working the local circuit, eventually graduating to national tours and exposure. Years of hard work paid off, catching the attention of music fans throughout Australia and the world.
Roadrunner senior VP of A&R, Ron Burman, instantly fell in love with “their brand of anthemic, catchy, hard rock-n-roll.” He states, “I am so excited that we signed Airbourne. They are a young, fists in the air, high energy, in-your-face type of hard rock band. I saw them play a few times in Austin at South By Southwest and they blew me away.”
Sharing national stages with the likes of the Rolling Stones, Motley Crüe and The Living End, the band has honed in on its performance Zen. A live show is sure to include bursting energy, rowdy crowds singing their hearts out and free-flowing beer. “We always go on-stage and try to prove a point,” O’Keeffe directs, “about how GOOD rock ‘n’ roll is!” The band takes on the mission to spread that infectious love of rock, even performing at Australia’s biggest rock festival in 2006, Big Day Out. They are currently playing dates throughout Australia.
In June the band released Runnin’ Wild, a red-blooded collection of rallying rock anthems with undeniable choruses and feel good momentum in Australia. Scheduled to be released in the US and Europe through Roadrunner Records in early 2008, the album channels the endearing qualities of classic rock while breathing new life through modern production and arrangement. Boasting an all-star team, Runnin’ Wild was produced by Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Quiet Riot) and mixed by Andy Wallace (Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Linkin Park). With lead tracks such as “Runnin’ Wild,” “Stand Up For Rock n Roll,” and “Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast,” Runnin’ Wild will be the new soundtrack to all-night partying. Airbourne have risen to the challenge and are ready to bring their authentic brand of power rock to the US in 2008!

Queensryche Releases Live CD & DVD Capturing Epic ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ Saga In Its Entirety
Queensrÿche brought the group’s acclaimed Operation: Mindcrime albums to the stage last year performing the original and its 2006 sequel in their entirety during the group’s successful North American tour. The marathon shows included a full theatrical production complete with surround sound, video imagery and actors portraying the concept albums’ characters onstage with the band. Rhino captures Queensrÿche’s epic performance in front of the quintet’s hometown crowd at the Moore Theater in Seattle with Mindcrime At The Moore. The double CD and double DVD versions will both be available July 3rd at all physical retail outlets and www.rhino.com.
The CD includes singer and chief songwriter Geoff Tate along with guitarists Michael Wilton and Mike Stone, bassist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield performing all 32 Mindcrime tracks plus a two-song encore featuring their signature hits-“Jet City Woman” and “Walk In The Shadows.” The DVD features the same performance expanded with bonus material including a tour documentary, a featurette on the band’s “Rock & Ride Across America” charity motorcycle ride for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, and a live performance of “The Chase” from the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles, featuring Ronnie James Dio‘s only public appearance as Dr. X.
“This concert is the realization of an idea that began nearly two decades ago,” says Tate. “The story and music of Operation: Mindcrime is very dear to the band. We are thrilled with this performance and proud to share it with our audience.”
Queensrÿche released Operation: Mindcrime in 1988. Praised by critics and certified platinum, the album was an acclaimed success remaining on Billboard’s Top 200 for more than a year. In 2006 the band released a long-awaited sequel to their magnum opus to critical and commercial success. The album debuted at #14 on the Top 200, their highest debut in over a decade.
The concept albums follow an intriguing and complex plot that revolves around Dr. X, a political puppet master who brainwashes Nikki– the story’s main character– to assassinate corrupt public figures. The story also includes Nikki’s lover, Sister Mary. A former teenage prostitute who becomes a nun, Sister Mary is murdered mysteriously, leaving the cliffhanger “Who Killed Sister Mary?” Set 20 years after the original, Operation: Mindcrime II explores Nikki’s fate after being released from prison and reveals the identity of Mary’s killer. The album centers on revenge and what it does to people, their emotions and the choices they make.

The daughter of British musician ROD STEWART has been romantically linked to notorious bad boy rocker TOMMY LEE. Socialite Kimberley was photographed leaving a Los Angeles nightclub this week (ends29Jun07) with Pamela Anderson’s ex, 44-year old Lee, who is famed for substance abuse and shooting a homemade sex film with his ex-wife.
Lee – who was also once married to blonde Heather Locklear, went to jail in 1998 for physically abusing Anderson. A friend of Stewart says, “Tommy Lee makes Calum Best look like a saint. It won’t be long before Rod’s on the phone.”
Comment: Does Tommy Lee certainly has a thing for famous blondes? At least Kimberly Stewart isn’t a household name yet.
VAN HALEN is preparing to hit the road in the U.S. beginning in September. The group’s lineup for the trek is expected to include David Lee Roth (vocals), Eddie Van Halen (guitar), Alex Van Halen (drums) and Eddie’s 16-year-old son Wolfgang Van Halen (bass).
Wolfgang Van Halen, the projected replacement for VH bassist Michael Anthony, told People magazine in April 2007 that he wasn’t disappointed there wasn’t’ going to be a VAN HALEN tour this summer following his father’s decision to check himself into rehab. “My dad’s taking care of himself,” he said. “I also think I’m too young for the experience, because I know there are a lot of bad things out there.”
Eddie Van Halen issued a statement addressed to fans in early March announcing that he was seeking treatment because “at the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best.
“That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110 percent that I feel I owe you and want to give you,” the statement said.
Back in January, Eddie Van Halen told Rolling Stone magazine about Wolfgang, “Wait until you hear this kid play. I pick him up from school every day and we jam. We’ve got a shredding bass player now that’s laying down the law for Alex [Van Halen, drums], so I get to weave in and out.”

Yesterday, at a press conference in Greece for this weekend’s RockWave Festival, headliner Robert Plant denied the rumors and said he hadn’t heard anything about a Zep reunion.
When asked about the one-off show, Plant joked, “I don’t know if there would be enough doctors to support it.”
Previously, sources close to the Zeppelin camp had said that members Jimmy Page, Plant and John Paul Jones were planning to reunite for a memorial concert in London for Ahmet Ertegun, the Atlantic Records founder who died in 2006, and that if all went well, a full Zeppelin tour (with Jason Bonham on drums) would commence next year.
The RockWave Festival is happening June 29 and July 1 and 3, and will feature such artists as Plant, Metallica, Chris Cornell, Europe, Mastodon, My Dying Bride, Heaven and Hell, Dream Theater, Iced Earth and others. For more information, visit rockwavefestival.gr.

NEW YORK – In what may seem like an unlikely alliance, hard rock band Drowning Pool, non-profit organization Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and 15 year-old YouTube video producer Lizzie Palmer are teaming up to encourage young people to support expanded health care for veterans returning from Iraq & Afghanistan. They are launching a campaign called ‘This Is For the Soldiers’ and asking Americans to support legislation currently before congress which addresses the urgent need to get better mental health care for veterans. The campaign includes a website (www.thisisforthesoldiers.org) which hosts a petition urging congress to support the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform bill along with a powerful music video created by Palmer.
While ‘This Is For the Soldiers’ officially kicks off the week of July 4th, supporting the troops is nothing new for anyone involved. Rockers Drowning Pool toured with the USO and performed for troops in Iraq, Kuwait and South Korea in 2005 and 2006. “We have had the opportunity to meet the troops overseas, come back to the states and get invited to different bases in difference cities. We have spent countless time with soldiers who do what they do without question and you can’t help being touched by that,” said Drowning Pool lead singer Ryan McCombs. The campaign’s title, ‘This Is For the Soldiers,’ comes from a line in the Drowning Pool song, “Soldiers,” that the band wrote based on their experience. Bassist Stevie Benton remarks, “After returning from Baghdad, our priority was writing a song about our troops, for our troops. I hope they will accept the song as a show of our respect and thanks for all they do for our country.” Drowning Pool named their upcoming concert tour after the campaign and plans to donate fifty cents from each ticket sale to IAVA and fifty cents to the USO. IAVA, founded by Iraq veteran Paul Rieckhoff, has been advocating since 2004 on behalf of returning servicemembers. It is the first and largest group representing veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even Ohio teen Lizzie Palmer has taken action before. “Remember Me,” her previous music video honoring U.S. troops, has gotten over 12 million hits on YouTube. Her latest video, for Drowning Pool’s “Soldiers”, will be released on July 4th.
Now it’s time to get other people involved.
“Whether you’re for the war or against it, everyone has an obligation to support the men and women serving our country,” said Paul Rieckhoff, IAVA Executive Director. “Our alliance with Drowning Pool and Lizzie provides a great platform for raising awareness among young people about the challenges veterans face. At least one in three Iraq veterans will cope with a serious mental health issue, like depression or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It’s crucial that we put systems in place now to help them.” The trio is encouraging supporters to send a petition to Representative Bob Filner, Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, asking him to take action on the Lane Evans Bill, H.R. 1354, currently pending in the House. This bipartisan legislation would require mandatory counseling for combat veterans and ensure a better transition for troops leaving the military. A letter written by the band has already been sent to members of the House and Senate Committees on Veterans Affairs and was recently read before the President’s Commission on Care for America’s Returning Wounded Warriors. “This Is For the Soldiers’ gives young people a chance to make a real difference in the lives of our country’s newest generation of veterans,” said Rieckhoff.
Against Me! will release their new album, New Wave, on July 10th. The follow-up to 2005’s Searching For A Former Clarity was produced by Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins).
New Wave will be available on CD, a Special Edition CD/DVD, 180 gram yellow vinyl and digital download.
To celebrate the release, Hard Rock Hideout is giving one lucky winner an Against Me! autographed Gibson guitar.
5 runners-up will score an autographed copy of the vinyl 7″ for “White People For Peace.”
