HCG BGBH In 2005, Sydney’s Hell City Glamours released their second EP, Broken Glass, Beatless Hearts.

This disc starts off with the blistering hot tune, White Trash, Hot Love. This is the way you start off of a record!

On the Rocks surprised me. This song has all the dynamics of a Rolling Stones‘ tune. Funky guitars and excellent piano drive this cool rocker.

My Hearts A Breakin is a punk rock/hard rock fusion. It has the jangly guitars and high speed rhythm of punk, and the guitar solos of hard rock. It is an interesting tune, but not essential.

Broke Down is one of the harder tunes on Broken Glass. This tune feels like more garage punk. The background vocals actually take away from the sound on this tune. The guitar work is quite solid. This is a song that could have a lot of potential if it was reworked a little bit.

Broken Glass, Beatless Hearts isn’t quite as strong as the Hey Man EP, but I still like the tunes here. It is easy to see that the Hell City Glamours sound is growing with each new release. When the band breaks out of the punk rock mold, they really start to shine. It is the harder edge sound that will take them places.
Broken Glass, Beatless Hearts is a solid effort, and has whet my appetite to hear more tunes by these Aussie rockers.
