0 Bruno Rock – Live on Fire (Release Year – 2007)
In 2008, Italian rockers, Bruno Rock signed a new deal with new German label, 7HARD. I haven’t heard any songs from Bruno Rock prior to this release, and I must admit, it is kind of odd to start out with a live record from a new band, but I do like what I hear on this disc.
“Live on Fire” is guitar oriented melodic rock album in the vein of Journey and a few other bands of the genre. It is melodic rock with solid guitar work and a very cool Deep Purple like keyboard style. With some Italian bands, I find that the singer’s accents are so strong that it is distracting. This is not the case with Bruno Rock singer, Bruno Kraler. His vocals are clean and are a definite strong suit for this band. The song “La Fonte Dei Sogni” is sung in Italian, which Kraler also sings very well.
For a live CD, this disc is a crisp and clear recording that is almost studio quality. I don’t know if this recording was cleaned up in a studio, but the sound is great, and captures Bruno Rock at the top of their game.
In 2009, Bruno Rock has a new studio album coming out called “War Maniacs”. Judging from the sound of “Live on Fire” I will definitely be picking that one up. “Live on Fire” is a solid record that fans of melodic rock and AOR should check out.
