After a fifteen year absence, The Electric Boys reunited, and have delivered their fourth album, And Them Boys Done Swang.
The band mates of Electric Boys didn’t exactly disappear during the bands hiatus. Connie Bloom and Andy Christell have been playing in Hanoi Rocks, and released a great album, Street Poetry in 2007.
So how does And Them Boys Done Swang stack up? In my opinion, I believe the band has cranked out their best album since their classic debut, Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride.
And Them Boys Done Swang sees the Electric Boys return to their funky roots. The music on this CD is a mix of funky glam rock, 70’s psychedelia and classic hard rock. The majority of the songs are positively upbeat, fresh and highly listenable. This is definitely one of the more interesting albums I have heard in 2011.
Some of the highlights includes the rockin’ opening cut “Reeferlord”, the infectious “Father Popcorn’s Magic Oysters” (see video below), the Beatles-like “Ten Thousand Times Goodbye”, the silly yet fun “The House is Rockin” and the super funky “Sometimes U Gotta Go Look For the Car”.
And Them Boys Done Swang is one of the surprise albums of 2011. This is a highly entertaining album, and a disc worth checking out. Don’t miss this!
