Legendary Metal Queen DORO PESCH is currently finishing up the Raise Your Fist North American tour which commenced with a fiery appearance on the 70000 Tons Of Metal Cruise late last month! Touring in support of the anthemic Raise Your Fist full-length, released worldwide via Nuclear Blast late last year, the iconic songstress continues to enthrall the masses with her permeating voice, metallic grace and infectious, onstage charm.

Comments the perpetually upbeat DORO: “So far the tour has been so amazing! It’s the best North American tour we’ve ever done. The venues have been packed and so many have sold out. The fans have been truly amazing and so supportive, it’s been overwhelming! The Joliet, Illinois show was so intense, we’re saving some of the live footage for an upcoming DVD. Some shows have been very long — everyone wants to hear so many songs; so many encores! We are so looking forward to playing the rest of these shows, especially Hollywood! The old Warlock members, our label and so many friends are coming out. I truly thank all the fans who’ve made these shows so amazing and possible.”

Additionally, DORO devotees in Tempe, Arizona will have the opportunity to meet Pesch and her bandmates at a special in-store meet & greet on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Naked Dave’s Music located at 2155 E. University Drive, Tempe, AZ. The signing session will run from 5:00pm – 6:30pm. For more info, go to THIS LOCATION.

Raise Your Fist features guest appearances by Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister and Ozzy/Firewind guitarist Gus G, with artwork by British artist and longtime DORO collaborator Geoffrey Gillespie. The offering debuted at #65 on the American Billboard Heatseekers chart upon its first week of release and was commended by Outburn in an 8/10 rating for delivering “50 minutes of expertly crafted Teutonic metal.”

“…probably the classiest lady in metal.” – Outburn

“Raise Your Fist is a solid outing for DORO PESCH and at this stage in the game, would expect nothing less from her. She still manages to savor that hard rock image and make it work for her and I hope she never stops doing this. I say raise your fist in the air babe, and never let it go.” – Blistering

“On her 12th solo album, German metal maiden DORO PESCH sounds more assured than ever, particularly as a songwriter on these 13 taut, Teutonic tunes.” – Revolver

“Raise Your Fist will put a smile on all of DORO’s fans faces, many years after she first appeared Heavy Metal still has plenty to give thanks to those like DORO.” – Sea Of Tranquility

“There is no doubt in my mind that DORO is a pioneer in her field of music, one that does what she loves best, and gives her fans all. That’s what I call dedication. Do I recommend “Raise Your Fist”, most definitely.” – Metal Titans

“Raise Your Fist is a confident, well crafted, classic metal album, which offers a slab of horn-throwing anthems, with just the right amount of sentiment. DORO heads into a new decade with another load of rock and roll ammunition in her arsenal.” – The Examiner

“For a quarter century, DORO has been defying stereotypes and putting out old-school metal that never fails to recall the days when the star of heavy metal burned brightest. Time may not have been the kindest to the style of music DORO has always stood for, but it has been kind to her. The accomplishment of staying relevant in the scene for so long is not something to be taken for granted, and it’s something indeed to be proud of.” – Bloody Good Horror

0 Doro & Sister Sin in Columbus, Ohio

Sister Sin 2013 aDoro 2013a

Sister Sin and Doro brought their hot winter metal tour to Columbus, Ohio last Saturday Night.  I have been looking forward to this show for a quite some time, and had this one blocked out on my calendar for weeks.  I saw Sister Sin live back in 2009, when they opened for Faster Pussycat and the Bulletboys.  Sister Sin blew those bands off of the stage that night.  I have been anxious to see them play again ever since.  I can’t imagine two more power female metal singers singing on the same bill (although Benedictum would have been a cool addition) as Liv Jagrell and Doro Pesch.

So Saturday night, Stone from Metal Odyssey and I, embarked on a short road trip to the Ace of Cups club in Columbus.  Several local bands opened the show, with my favorite being the thrash metal band Skullbomb.

The anticipation grew with each and every band, and I was very excited when Sister Sin took the stage.  If you haven’t seen Sister Sin play, you are truly missing out.  Liv Jagrell has a big voice that could rival that of Doro.  Sister Sin’s set was tight, and I was very happy to hear them play a few new songs off of their new album, Now and Forever.  If you haven’t picked up one of Sister Sin’s CD’s, you are really missing out.

I have been a Warlock fan since high school, but believe it or not, I have not seen Doro perform live before last Saturday.  How was Doro?

She looked and sounded amazing.  She hasn’t lost one bit of her vocal range.  Her voice was in fine form, and her band was damn good too.  I nearly forgot that Johnny Dee from Britny Fox was drumming for Doro.  I haven’t seen him since the 80’s.  His drum solo was pretty cool too.

I couldn’t have been happier with Doro’s set, although I wish she would have played longer.  Her set consisted mostly of Warlock tunes including: “Metal Racer”, “Burning The Witches”, “Earthshaker Rock”, “True As Steel”, “Fight For Rock”, “All We Are”, “Metal Tango”, and “Für Immer “.  She also performed “Raise your Fist In The Air” and “Hero” off of her new album, Raise Your Fist.

After the show, both Liv and Doro were at the merchandise both autographing memorabilia, taking pictures and meeting fans.  The line was long, and the wait was heinous, but getting to meet Doro Pesch made this awesome night of metal even better.  I can’t wait to see Sister Sin and Doro play again.

There are a few dates left on this tour.  Don’t miss this show if it comes to your town! The remaining dates are listed below.

2/13/2013 Mojoe’s – Joliet, IL
2/14/2013 Station 4 – St. Paul, MN
2/15/2013 Spicoli’s Grill And The Reverb – Waterloo, IA

1 DORO: North American Tour Dates Announced

Metal queen DORO PESCH will be returning to North America in 2013 to rock the masses in support of her twelfth solo album, Raise Your Fist! The tour is set to commence on February 1st in Tampa, Florida with support provided by Sweden’s Sister Sin. Exclusive pre-sale tickets can be purchased at EnterTheVault.com through October 5; afterwards, tickets will be available through all normal ticketing outlets.

Comments DORO of the long-awaited trek: “I’m so excited to tour North America again! I can’t wait to see all the great fans again and play the new songs off Raise Your Fist and of course all the songs the fans love. It’ll be a set list with the best tunes, hard and fast and lots of anthems and surprises. We’ll have some very special guests at our New York City and Los Angeles shows too and killer support from Sister Sin! I can’t wait to see you guys and wish you all the very best. Until then, raise your fist in the air and all we are will rule the ruins! I love you fuer immer! See you soon.”

Raise Your Fist is due out in the U.S. and Canada on November 6 via Nuclear Blast Records and features guest appearances by Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister as well as  Ozzy/Firewind guitarist Gus G. Elaborated DORO of the release “Most important to me are the power hymns ‘Raise Your Fist In The Air’ and ‘Victory.’ Both songs have been played live on our last tour and also made last year’s Wacken Open Air shake! For the diehard fans of German songs like ‘Für Immer’ [‘Forever’], there are two songs in the same vein: the sensitive and quite dark ‘Human Rights’ and the very emotional ‘Engel’ [‘Angel’]. There are also a lot of fast songs like ‘Little Headbanger’ and various fist-pumping ones featuring amazing guests like Gus G on ‘Last Man Standing’ which fans are sure to dig live. We also have a song that honors the late Ronnie James Dio called ‘Hero’ and another highlight called ‘It Still Hurts’ featuring Lemmy. The cover artwork has once again been created by British artist Geoffrey Gillespie who is a close friend and companion since he made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for his Triumph And Agony cover as the biggest album cover in the world. Since then, he’s done ten covers for us!”

0 Doro – Force Majeure (1989)

  • January 20, 2012
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · CD Reviews A-H · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock Videos · Music · Video

Finding a cool CD sometimes requires you to be in the right place, at the right time. On a freezing cold Thursday afternoon, I stopped in the local Half Price Books, not to look for music, but to find a movie on DVD that I only had on VHS.  I was unsuccessful in finding the  movie I was looking for (Aliens), but from the previously owned music section, Doro’s Force Majeure found itself in my hands rather quickly.

Force Majeure is the first CD Doro recorded without the Warlock name.  This CD has several classic cuts including
“Save My Soul”, “World Gone Wild”, the cover of Procul Harum’s “A White Shade of Pale”and my personal favorite “River of Tears”.

I once owned Force Majeure on cassette, but never replaced on CD until yesterday afternoon. I can’t believe it took me so long to  replace this on CD.  I have been thoroughly enjoying Force Majeure, and highly recommend this to all Doro Pesch fans!  Doro’s voice has never sounded better than it does on Force Majeure. This CD has some cool tunes and also features the excellent guitar work of Jon Levin.

You can score this CD for less than five bucks at this link.  It is worth every penny!

Check it out!

4 Hurricane Irene Destroys the Home of Metal Queen Doro Pesch

  • September 2, 2011
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

Rude shock for Doro Pesch. Yesterday morning the rock singer took the plane from Düsseldorf to her second home New York. When she arrived at her domicile on Long Island, instead of her neat house on the beach DORO only came upon a heap of ruins – the results of hurricane ”Irene” which had been raging over New York on last weekend and had brought big floodings to the east coast of the US.

”The damage is disastrous”, DORO states mournfully. ”The whole ground-floor was flooded. It stinks, electricity failed and everything’s wrecked inside of the house. From the TV to the fridge to the furniture. Everything’s grime-stained, defective, unusable.”

DORO continues: ”The worst thing is that pieces of my stage costumes and lots of my souvenirs and presents from fans from all around the world are lost forever now.”

Actually the rock queen wanted to prepare for her two live shows in New York and Chicago on Long Island calmly, which she’ll play next week over the course of her jubilee DVD’s release ”DORO – 25 Years in Rock”.

DORO: ”The shows will take place of course. For now, I’ve found accommodation in an hotel in New York and will have to see where things will go from here. I saw the pictures of ”Irene” on TV when I visited my mother in Germany on the weekend. When a red rubber raft appeared canoeing through a road on Long Island, I’ve already assumed the worst.”

And the fears were even surpassed. In spring, Doro Pesch had sat by the pier in front of her house to make use of the idyllic atmosphere for writing songs for her new album that will be released in 2012.

2 Warlock’s Hellbound, True As Steel & Triumph and Agony to be Reissued by Metal Mind Records

  • January 10, 2011
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music
Warlock is without question one of the most prominent bands in the history of German heavy metal. Their musical journey began in the early 1980’s and came to a sudden stop in 1987, when the group’s singer, Doro Pesch, was forced to continue her career under a new moniker. This year, Metal Mind Productions are proud to present three exclusive re-releases of Warlock’s amazing albums – „Hellbound”, „True As Steel” and „Triumph and Agony”, all of which capture the sheer essence of heavy metal, delivering fast and melodic riffs, intense drumming and stunning vocal performances by one of the best female metal singers of all times!
The band was originally assembled in 1982 in Düsseldorf, Germany and featured the following line-up: Doro Pesch (vocals), Peter Szigeti (guitar), Frank Rittel (bass), Rudy Graf (guitar) and Michael Eurich (drums). In 1984, Warlock released their spectacular debut album entitled “Burning the Witches”, which brought them even more fame and recognition. In May 1985, the band released their second LP “Hellbound” via Vertigo Records. The follow-up was a significant step away from the traditional heavy metal approach which could be heard on “Burning The Witches”. This time the group focused more on incorporating elements of hard rock and power metal into their style. Nevertheless, “Hellbound” proved to be the heaviest and most intense material that Warlock has ever recorded, and probably one of the heaviest albums released in 1985 (outside of thrash metal, that is). The LP featured such highlights as “Earthshaker Rock”, “Wrathchild” and the beautiful closing ballad “Catch My Heart”. By the end of their touring period, Rudy Graf left Warlock and was soon replaced by Niko Arvanitis (ex-Stormwind). The renewed line-up signed a record deal with Phonogram for their next album. The band’s third opus “True As Steel” saw the light of day in August 1986. The LP became a big success in the US, mostly thanks to a fair amount of airplay for the single “Fight For Rock”. In terms of style, “True As Steel” showcased a bit more mainstream approach, with a greater emphasis on melodic choruses and, at times, clearly influenced by such bands as Dokken or Quiet Riot. The highlights of the LP include the powerful opener “Mr. Gold”, the speed-metal anthem “Midnite in China” and the stunning power ballad “Love Song”.
Soon after the album was released, Warlock performed at the Monsters of Rock festival in Germany, next to such legendary acts as Scorpions, Def Leppard, Ozzy Osbourne and Bon Jovi. Next, they went on a full tour to promote the album, at the end of which bassist Frank Rittel and guitarist Peter Szigeti called it quits. They were replaced by Tommy Bolan (ex-Armed Forces) and Tommy Henriksen. Warlock’s fourth LP “Triumph and Agony” was released in September 1987. The album went even further into mainstream grounds, delivering perhaps the most cohesive material in the band’s entire career. The music video “All We Are” was often played on MTV’s “Headbanger’s Ball” and, to this day, the song remains the most successful Warlock single. Other fine cuts from the album include the crushing “I Rule the Ruins”, the rock-oriented “Metal Tango” and the touching “Für Immer” (“Forever”) with inspirational lyrics sung in German. The release was followed by the group’s first ever American tour, during which they supported Megadeth along with Sanctuary. This was followed by a series of headlining shows, with Warlock being supported by such acts as Lillian Axe or Fates Warning. Unfortunately, after the tour has ended, both Michael Eurich and Niko Arvanitis left the group, leaving Doro as the band’s sole original member. After the recruitment of drummer Bobby Rondinelli (ex-Rainbow) and guitarist Jon Levin, Doro was ready to record Warlock’s fifth LP. However, her plans were foiled by a law suit issued by the group’s ex-manager who claimed the rights for Warlock’s name. Surprisingly, he won and Doro, pressured by her record label, chose to continue her career under a new moniker. As DORO, the singer released many successful albums, the most recent being “Fear No Evil” from 2009.
In 2004, Doro reunited with the original members of Warlock for a few festival performances. Unfortunately, legal problems made it impossible for the band to continue using their original name. Warlock ceased to exist along with “Triumph and Agony”, a title which proved to be an ironic metaphor of  the group’s future. Nevertheless, thanks to the exclusive re-releases of „Hellbound”, „True As Steel” and „Triumph and Agony” fans may once again revisit the golden years of Warlock – the years that brought the true quintessence of heavy metal. The albums will be available in a new digipak edition each limited to 2000 copies. Each title includes bonus tracks. Metal Mind Productions set the release date for 31st January 2011.

5 Vie’s Verses – Female Fronted Glam Bands From Days Gone By – Where Are They Now?

  • November 4, 2010

In the 80s, hair bands ruled. They were all over the radio, all over MTV, and all over anywhere one could look. And while a lot of people thought that most of them looked like girls, there were a few bands that actually had girls in them. In this edition of Vie’s Verses, I’m paying tribute to some of the best female fronted bands of yesteryear. So grab your aqua net, your dog eared copy of Hit Parader, and your dual cassette boom box, and let’s take a ride down memory lane.

Vixen

Vixen was huge in 1988/1989 with their self-titled debut album and smash hit, Edge Of A Broken Heart. Their appeal was deeper than just the music, however. As an all female band, filled with beautiful women, the guys loved Vixen for more than their songs. Rationally, Edge Of A Broken Heart is not a song that a dude could pump his fist to. It’s a song about a woman who is trying to avoid heartbreak. That’s not very manly. But the guys found themselves singing along anyway, because these chicks were hot!

Vixen formed in Minnesota in the mid-80s and then moved to Los Angeles, California, to join the smoking hot L.A. music scene. The fact that they were an all girl band certainly helped to get them the attention of record execs. After enjoying huge success with their first album, Vixen released Rev It Up in 1990. Unfortunately, Rev It Up was not promoted by the band’s record label, EMI, as well as their debut album was, and record sales on Rev It Up were poor. In 1991 the band split up.

Where are they now?

In 2001, as hair metal was making a huge revival, Jan Kuehnemund reformed Vixen with two other original members and a new bass guitar player. Halfway through their first tour, the band split up again. Kuehnemund, determined to keep the band‘s name alive, hired a new lineup and continued to tour and record under the name Vixen. Their last show was at the 2009 Rocklahoma. Since then, there has not been much activity from the band, but there are rumors of a possible new album and tour in the works for 2010/2011.

Did you know?

80s pop star, Richard Marx, wrote and arranged Edge Of A Broken Heart for Vixen at the request of EMI.

Warlock

Led by the beautiful and highly talented Doro Pesch, Warlock was a heavy metal band that formed in Germany in 1982. Their third album, True As Steel, was released in 1986, and brought the band recognition in the US. The single, Fight For Rock, was picked up by North American radio, and the band found a new following during the height of the hair metal years. Though most members of the band rotated in and out of Warlock, Doro Pesch always remained Warlock’s front woman. Warlock would find even more success once their videos started getting regular play on MTv’s Headbangers Ball. By the late 80s, all of the original band members had left Warlock. Doro had to change the name of the band (to Doro) due to Warlock’s original manager suing for the naming rights to Warlock.

Where are they now?

Doro Pesch is still performing under the Doro moniker and released a new album in 2009. Guitarist Peter Szigeti went on to play with many other bands, most notably U.D.O. Guitarist Rudy Graf went on to join the band Rage after leaving Warlock in 1985. He left the band Rage in 1987. Bassist Frank Rittel left Warlock at the end of the True As Steel Tour and little has been heard of him since. Drummer Michael Eurich left Warlock to join the band Casanova where he recorded three albums with them. His drumming activity has been quiet since then. Doro is still recording and touring in Europe and North America.

Did you know?

In 2008, Pure Steel Records released the first official tribute to Warlock which included special appearances by members of the band.

Saraya

Fronted by the gorgeous Sandi Saraya, Saraya was a New Jersey based band that had some modest radio hits, including their big single, Love Has Taken Its Toll. Never wanting their album to sell based on Sandi’s beauty, the front woman actually insisted that most of her face be hidden for the album’s cover shoot. Saraya only released two albums, and their second album, When The Blackbird Sings is hardly known by anyone except the truest of metal fans. After the release of their second album, keyboardist Gregg Munier quit the band, and Saraya decided to go their separate ways.

Where are they now?

Keyboardist and founding member, Gregg Munier, died in 2006 due to complications from pneumonia.

After Saraya split up in 1991, Sandi Saraya married Tesla bassist Brian Wheat, but they soon divorced. Since then, Sandi went on to marry again and is raising five children with her current husband.

Guitarist Tony Bruno is currently performing with Danger, Danger, although he is not an official member of the band.

Drummer Chuck Bonfante has been in and out of different bands since the demise of Saraya.

Earlier this year, rumors abounded that Saraya would be playing a reunion show, their first show in over 18 years, at the Firefest in the UK. Unfortunately, this never happened. Tony Bruno and Chuck Bonfante claim that Sandi was never committed to the reunion and she backed out at the last minute after demanding an exurbanite amount of money to play the festival. Sandi claims this is not true, that she just wanted enough money to cover the expenses of her family traveling to the festival with her, so that her children could see her perform. Her husband recently underwent surgery and the medical bills depleted her savings. It is not known whether Sandi and her former bandmates have spoken since her decision to not perform at Firefest (which took place just last week (October 30th and 31st). Whether there will be a reunion in the future still remains to be seen.

Did you know?

Saraya was in the midst of recording their third album when the band decided to call it quits.

Smashed Gladys

Smashed Gladys was a band that flew under everybody’s radar, but whose debut album is currently fetching a small mint on EBay and Craigslist, when they can be found. Fronted by the sleazy hot Sally Cato, Smashed Gladys released their debut album, Smashed Gladys in 1985. They followed that up with the excellent Social Intercourse in 1988. While not receiving much airplay or video time on MTV, Smashed Gladys went on to form a small following of hard core fans. Due to lack of support and promotion from the record company, the band decided to split up in 1989 while recording their third album, Tales From The East Side. The album has never been released.

Where are they now?

Front woman, Sally Cato, completely disappeared from the music scene after Smashed Gladys hung up their instruments. For most of her adult life she has been a Tibetan Buddhist. She currently owns a marketing and design firm in New York City. She still conducts interviews with glam/rock magazines and websites from time to time.

Guitarists Bart Lewis and Roger Lane, as well as bassist J.D. Malo have been in and out of bands since the breakup of Smashed Gladys. Drummer Matt Stelluto is currently employed by the New York Mets.

Social Intercourse has recently been re-released on Wounded Bird Records and can be found online for a decent price. Sally Cato has not ruled out the chance for a Smashed Gladys reunion if someone can put together a budget for the band to reunite.

Did you know?

Smashed Gladys was originally managed by Gene Simmons.

Bitch

Bitch was formed in 1980 by lead singer, Betsy Bitch. Their debut album, Be My Slave was released in 1983 and received some rotation on rock radio stations. In 1987 Bitch released their follow up album, The Bitch Is Back, two years after originally recording it. During that time, the band built a large following on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, playing such noted clubs as The Roxy and The Whiskey A Go-Go. By the time The Bitch Is Back was officially released, the band had a large fan base. This helped sales of their sophomore release tremendously. In 1989, Bitch released their final album, A Rose By Any Other Name. Since that time, Betsy Bitch has been the only original member to remain in the band.

Where are they now?

Betsy Bitch has continued to stay in the music scene. In several interviews she has stated that Bitch never officially broke up, they would just go on extended hiatus. Bitch continued to play festivals and do some minor touring throughout the 90s and 00s.

Original drummer Robby Settles passed away from leukemia earlier this year.

Guitarist David Carruth stayed with the band until recently, but is no longer a member of Bitch.

Bitch is currently in the studio with a new lineup working on a new album. A release date has not been set.

Did you know?

Bitch was the first female fronted heavy metal band signed to a record label.

3 Doro – Fear No Evil (2009)

  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · CD Reviews A-H · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

DoroFearNoEvilDoro’s back with some hard rocking, heavy metal, head banging tunes guaranteed to satisfy your inner metal demon. This German vixen, former lead singer of Warlock, proves that she still has what it takes to rock, delivering her old school style of delicious 80s metal, ushering it into 2009 with her latest release, Fear No Evil. It sounds as great today as it did more than twenty years ago.

Fear No Evil starts off with “Night of the Warlock”, which could be seen as a small shout out to her former band. The album begins with a thunder crack and a satanic voice from beyond claiming how there’s no running away and the time is now. Cue the evil laughter which breaks into the pound of (former Britny Fox drummer) Johnny Dee’s drums and Joe Taylor’s guitar riffs. Doro is back and she’s here to deliver. Night of the Warlock is an excellent opening track and a great way to reconnect with a long lost friend in the form of a heavy metal vixen. This song sets the stage for what’s to come and is a killer introduction to Fear No Evil.

“Celebrate” is hands down the best song on the entire disc and could fight for best song of the summer. This is a highway cruising, top down, fist in the air, bang your head, metal infused, joy fest of a song! The simple back beat with choppy guitar riffs and a chanted chorus of “we celebrate our love for rock and metal…” just makes this a fun song. And that’s why it is so great; it’s so much fun to listen to and to sing along with.

While “Celebrate” is the best song on the disc, “Caught in a Battle” may be the worst. Perhaps it is hard to follow the amazing song that preceded it, but this tune just falls apart from the opening note.

Things fix themselves with “Herzblut“, a nifty little song that finds Doro singing in her native German tongue. While I’m not exactly sure what she is singing about, or saying, the tune is catchy. A slow building intro that leads into the crashing metal sounds of drums and guitars with just the right amount of keyboards and bass, this is a modern day power ballad on steroids.

What makes Fear No Evil so exceptional is the exquisite supporting cast that Doro surrounds herself with. We all know that Doro can sing like no other heavy metal woman, but when her vocals are blended with the amazing guitar work of Joe Taylor and the time is kept perfectly by Johnny Dee, the music is raised to heights that seldom can achieve.

Doro still has the talent and the ability to sing like no other woman in the metal world. If you’re a fan of 80s rock, heavy metal, and/or women who rock, you’ll want to get your hands on a copy of Fear No Evil. It’s rock done right by a woman who has rocked for many years and can still bring the goods.

Fear No Evil is available for purchase at this link! For more information on Doro Pesch, check out her myspace page here.

3 Warlock – True As Steel (1986)

Warlock - True As Steel (1986)Back in my high school days, I was exposed to the powerful voice that belongs to Doro Pesch. My first experience was with the band Warlock and their release True as Steel. I discovered this band through the magic of MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball, and was an instant fan. I wore out the cassette of True as Steel years ago, and the high import prices kept me away, as True as Steel has been out of print in the United States for years. Recently, a used copy turned up in the local Rock Shop, and I could not pass it up.

If you haven’t ever heard Warlock before, their brand of metal music is on the harder side of Dokken, and the Scorpions.rrrmed This is heavy guitar oriented music, that is loaded with
guitar solos and most importanly, excellent musicianship. Make no mistake about it, few female metal singers can hold a candle to Doro Pesch. Her vocals is what makes this disc
stand out. Her potent metal screams on True as Steel made me a fan of hers for life.

This album has plenty of good metal to crank up. Some of the stand out tunes on this record are Mr. Gold, Fight For Rock, Vorwarts, All Right and the title track, True as Steel.

Warlock is a very under rated band, and it is a shame that this group is not around today. Doro Pesch still tours as a solo act, and performs several tunes from Warlock library. You can find more information on Doro at Doro Pesch.com.

True as Steel is one of the better Metal albums of 1986. It is definitely worth picking up if you can find a copy of it.
