2008 two disc (CD + DVD) release Explicit Version. The legend that is Twisted Sister return with their new live CD/DVD recorded at London’s Astoria Theatre on a very hot summer night in 2004. The critics hailed Twisted Sister’s performance as one of their greatest ever. If you’re an S.M.F. and have wondered what Twisted Sister thought about any of their live shows throughout their 35 year history, you should know this: while certain band members remember certain shows, and relate tales of particular performances as being their favorite, rarely does the band universally agree that any particular show is about as good as it gets. Each band member considered this show to be amongst the most special of their career. This concert was filmed and kept in a vault for the past four years. When the band had the opportunity to look at the footage, it brought back the heat, passion, intensity and audience participation that was a level far above all expectations. We look forward in sharing this magical performance with all of you!

Who needs Robert Plant? Apparently not the other surviving members of Led Zeppelin, who are ready to pull the trigger on a tour with a new singer if Plant refuses to join in. Sources tell Billboard the front man first in line for the gig is Myles Kennedy, who has most recently led the rock outfit Alter Bridge.
Kennedy has rehearsed with Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham on several occasions, according to sources in the know. In a recent BBC interview, Jones confirmed the band was planning to tour but didn’t refer to Kennedy by name.
Although he was on board for a one-off reunion in December 2007 in London, Plant has steadfastly declined to hit the road with Zeppelin. In late September, he issued a statement saying he has “no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years,” and also wished Page, Jones and Bonham “nothing but success with any future projects.”
If things move forward, the biggest question would be what to call the group. Would Zeppelin fans stand for it if the original name was used despite Plant’s absence?
There may be one unintended side effect should Kennedy bolt Alter Bridge, which has released an album each for Wind-Up and Universal. That band features the non-singing members of Creed, who split with front man Scott Stapp in 2004. But sources indicate there would be big bucks in a Creed reunion tour and that the band may indeed rise again.
Fans were thrilled to hear the song premiered on the official PUNISHER : WAR ZONE website (www.punisherwarzonemovie.com) in its entirety on Friday 10/24/08 as thousands rushed to hear the track and post it on their personal websites. Now they will be able to download the full track when it is launched on the iTunes Store on Halloween.
Multi-platinum Island Records’ five-man band Saliva has completed its aptly-titled fifth album, Cinco Diablo, set to arrive in the physical and digital marketplace on December 16th – the ultimate alt-metal post-grunge must-have CD this twisted holiday season! The new album’s first single pick, “Family Reunion,” was #1 Most Added at Active Rock and Modern Rock radio and is already on over 75 stations at both formats.
In advance support of Cinco Diablo, Memphis favorites Saliva continue their never-ending headlining tour schedule with Jet Black Stare, Drowning Pool, and Tantric through Nov. 11th (Veteran’s Day) in Texas. Saliva will play a halftime NBA homecoming gig at FedEx Forum in Memphis on Halloween, when the Grizzlies host the Magic.
Cinco Diablo is the long-awaited followed to Blood Stained Love Story, Saliva’s fourth album, released nearly two years ago in January 2007. It gave the band the highest Soundscan debut of their career – #19-bullet on combined first week sales of 30,000 copies. The album also spun off one of Saliva’s highest-charting singles, “Ladies and Gentlemen,” which rose to #1 at Active Rock and #2 at Mainstream Rock. “Ladies and Gentlemen” was heard in a Sony Playstation commercial last year, and was also used in Wrestlemania and Ultimate Fighting show Wired. The song matched the success of their biggest single to date, “Always,” which hit #1 at Active and Modern Rock back in 2002 (from the Back Into Your System album).

Black Tide has just launched their Warriors of Time Animation series. The six part series is explained best by the band themselves, “Our Hero, known as The Bastard, is a living embodiment of metal music. We pit him against a robotic legion whose influence spans all of time and space. The song speaks to the urge in everyone to rage and rock out against all outside expectations. It is a call to arms against a mundane existence, and the Bastard is always there to answer in force, slaughtering the robot conformist authority for the sake of youth, rebellion, and the undying spirit of true metal.” For the first in the epic series, click here.

Swedish axeman Magnus Karlsson has recently posted this letter on his website:
“I thought it was time for a little update. We have two more shows with Primal Fear next weekend before we start the recording of our new album. “Monsters of Mora” in Sweden and at Sounddock 14 in Switzerland. The tour with Primal fear has been a blast! I can’t imagine a better and more fun band to be in. I really enjoyed meeting all great bands and also that I got the chance to meet some of you guys to have a chat and a drink or two. We are almost done with the song writing for the Primal fear album and I will go to Germany to record my stuff in December. The songs came out fantastic and I’m very excited to be a part of this album. Expect a release in May 2009. Check out www.primalfear.de for more updates about the recording.
I will also start writing on Allen/Lande III and hopefully I will have it done in time for a release next year.
Thanks everyone for your kind messages and emails. I read them all and try to answer as often as I can but sometimes there’s not time enough. I’m really sorry for that but if I would spend more time on myspace than I already do there wouldn’t be any more time for guitar shredding.
Well, I hope you all are enjoying life …and if you don’t , just put on Bob Catley’s Immortal and everything will feel better!”
Following the successful appearance at the Firefest in Notthingham, England last Sunday, DANGER DANGER are now heading back to the studio to finish the recording sessions of the highly anticipated new studio album expected for release in early 2009. Singer Ted Poley is hard at work putting his vocals on the tracks recorded and said “The new D2 cd is coming out really great. I think the fans will like it a lot”.
Twenty one years ago, the band Fastway released a full length CD, that was the soundtrack to the horror movie, “Trick or Treat”. I thought the movie was a campy good time, and the soundtrack was pretty good too.
Oddly enough, this is my favorite Fastway album, and is one that I still listen to today.
Fastway had some cool songs over the years, and some people may think this band is a one hit wonder with their song, “Say What You Will”. In my opinion, this was the album that I thought the band peaked on.
This wasn’t Fastway’s most successful album. Trick or Treat peaked at 156 on the Billboard charts.
There are still a bunch of good rocking tunes on this disc.
“Trick or Treat” starts off with four solid songs right out of the gate. (Check out the videos below for the first two tracks.) “Tear Down The Walls” is the one questionable song on the disc. It is more Halloween like sounds than an actual song.
“Get Tough” is another good rocker that mixes well with my playlist today.
“Heft” is a sludgy almost Sabbath like tune. “Trick or Treat” closes out with a mid tempo rocker “If You Could See”. Fast Eddie Clark has some very cool guitar parts on this song.
As a whole, “Trick or Treat” is one of the better horror movie soundtracks out there. You can pick this one up for less than ten bucks at this link. This is a nice Halloween treat for you metalheads out there!

With the news of RATT getting started on preparing a new album next year I thought it would be a good time to check out Stephen Pearcy’s new solo album “Under My Skin” . I think it is safe to say that Pearcy has one of the most unique and identifiable voices in rock-n-roll and has made some great music over the years with both RATT and Arcade, but to be honest most of his solo projects have been a little lacking in my opinion. With that in mind I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed listening to “Under My Skin”. If you’re expecting a RATT sounding album you may be mildly disappointed and it really doesn’t sound like an Arcade album either but I would say it is about 60/40 with the sound leaning more towards the heaviness of Arcade.
The first three songs “You’re Alot Like Me”, “Big Nothin”, and “Watcha Doin” are all in your face rockers . All three have great sounding guitars and big sounding drums of the three “Watcha Doin” would probably fit best on a RATT album it also has a great solo that would make Warren DeMartini proud. Track #4 “Time Slips Away” seems to be Pearcy’s tribute to the life his former bandmate and friend Robbin “King” Crosby, while I wouldn’t call it a ballad it is a slower song but still maintains it heaviness with Pearcy letting everyone know how he misses his fallen bandmate as the song comes to a close.
The title track “Under My Skin” is next while it is a decent song there is nothing that is really remarkable or memorable about the song. “In Outta Love” is #6 and it is another in your face rocker with a great groove and bass line throughout. “Here We Go Again” seems to be the anthem of the album and like “In Outta Love” it has a great bass line and groove. The next three songs “Bottoms Up”, “Are You Ready”, and “Injector” are pretty much like “Under My Skin” all decent songs but nothing remarkable to any of them and I will leave it up to you guys to decide if he is singing about women or race cars.
To finish out the album is the obligatory cover of a RATT song and if I gave you one guess as to which song it is it would be a pretty safe bet 92% of you would say “Round & Round” and you would be right. This time Pearcy has a little help in the form of the Donnas. It is pretty much a loyal cover to the original version with Pearcy trading verses back-n-forth with lead Donna Brett Anderson which amounts to a pretty enjoyable listen.
While there are no songs that can match the original “Round & Round” or Arcade’s “Dancin’ With The Angels”, in the end “Under My Skin” is a pretty decent album with a handful of good songs.
1. You’re A Lot Like Me
2. Big Nothin’
3. Watcha Doin’
4. Time Slips Away
5. Under My Skin
6. In Outta Love
7. Here We Go Again
8. Bottoms Up
9. Are You Ready
11. Round & Round (featuring The Donnas)

7th Son –featuring guitarist/vocalist Christopher Babbitt, guitarist Mikey Cross, bassist Andrew Cushing and drummer Alan Doucette–are a rag tag crew of young turks who formed the band two years ago in their native Sin City. The band recorded three fist-pumping, guitar-driven anthems with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Incubus, Escape the Fate, Story of the Year) earlier this year. Those songs caught the attention of Roadrunner Senior VP of A&R Monte Conner, who quickly signed the band.
Of their signing to Roadrunner, Babbitt said, “Our battle cry since we started playing dives in dirty Vegas to being nobodies signed to the biggest hard rock label in the world has been ‘Be shred or be dead,’ so we have a lot to live up to and Roadrunner was the only label we knew who would have the balls and the vision to stand behind that credo.” Cross has a more tongue in cheek outlook on their new label home, saying, “We can’t wait to meet some of our esteemed new label-mates and sleep with their girlfriends.
” Lock up your daughters, girlfriends and wives, because 7th Son have arrived!
7th Son are currently recording their Roadrunner debut in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Baskette manning the boards. They will commence recording in mid-November. The band is managed by Dark Angel Management, LLC (Trivium, Seemless, Dirge).

AC/DC’s Black Ice Debuts At Number One In Twenty Nine Countries
AC/DC’s pattern of success shows no sign of stopping as their new studio album, “Black Ice” has debuted at the Number One spot in twenty nine countries. The album has claimed the coveted spot in countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Italy, Belgium and many more. They are expected to sell ten million copies this year alone.
Wal-Mart and Columbia Records have announce a milestone record breaking event for AC/DC’s “Black Ice”, reaching No. 1 this week in U.S. music sales. Selling more than 780,000 units in the U.S. since its release October 20, “Black Ice” also represents the first No. 1 album for the band on the album charts in the U.S. Exclusively sold through Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club locations and online at walmart.com, samsclub.com and acdc.com, the new CD release represents the fastest-selling album for Wal-Mart this year.
Not only is the album seeing high interest, but so are all items AC/DC. Since the release of the CD and launch of the AC/DC Rock Again Store area within Wal-Mart stores, other departments are feeling the impact. Music sales at Wal-Mart witnessed the first positive comp sales in months and young men’s apparel saw sales get even hotter. The value Wal-Mart has emphasized with the launch of this new section in each AC/DC Rock Again Store — combining music, apparel, DVDs and even video games — means customers can buy both album and a new AC/DC shirt for under $20.
This coming weekend starting November 2, Wal-Mart launches another exclusive AC/DC value — the AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack video game. Developed by Harmonix and published by MTV Games, the game will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii (Wii arrives November 16) for $39.88 and $29.88 for the PlayStation 2. The game is available at all Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club locations and at the AC/DC Rock Band “pop up” stores located at the MTV Store in Times Square in New York and at Hollywood and Highland in Los Angeles. The AC/DC Rock Band pop-up stores will be open through January 4, 2009.
Fans can also go to walmart.com/acdc to preview tracks from the new CD, check out new videos of the band, get information on the pop up stores shop for apparel and more.
“We knew already AC/DC has a strong fan base, and certainly this last week proves their new music is as strong as ever,” said Gary Severson, senior vice president, Walmart Entertainment. “We also knew they were the perfect band for us to create a new concept around music and other categories in our stores. Even in a fast changing and sometimes challenging environment for music, there are bands and ideas that can make a difference, if you give customers your best and at the right value.”
Listen to the new song, “War Zone” by Rob Zombie at the link below. “War Zone” is one of the new songs featured on the Punisher War Zone soundtrack, due in stores November 25th!
I’m not sure what is in the water in Sweden but the country keeps churning out one kick ass band after another, the latest band to join that list is Badmouth. On their self titled debut they are balls out and in your face from beginning to end. I do have to warn you that it took a few listens for me to get used to Tom Pearson’s voice, but after the third or fourth spin I realized how naturally his voice fit the music. I have seen where people have compared him to a younger Don Dokken but I’m not hearing it at all. What I am hearing is a little Lemmy in the way he sings and a little Jesper Binzer (D:A:D) in how he sounds and in my opinion neither of those are bad comparisons. For all the Doubting Thomas’s just give “Rivethead” a listen and you’ll see it could fit easily on any D:A:D album out there.
Everything gets kicked off with “Pedal To The Metal” and you better hold on tight because it is going to be a wild ride. This song has everything needed for a classic anthem great groove, great chorus and gang vocals, and a solo from guitarist Randy Joy that will make any air guitarist jump for joy. “Kick It Up” follows the same recipe with the same great results.
I definitely wouldn’t call “Cocaine Girl” an anthem but it is still a kick ass song nonetheless and it is probably the most sing a long song on the album. I can’t even describe how impressed I am with Randy Joy’s guitar playing three songs down and three great solos and great playing throughout.
“Last Train” isn’t the best song on the album but it gets my vote for best groove on the album. Bassist Chris LeMon lays down some fat bass lines and a tight groove throughout the song. It goes right along with “Cocaine Girl” as a great crank the stereo up and roll the windows down kind of song.
“Dance Little Sister” and “El Diablo” are both fairly good songs but if I had to choose between the two I would pick “El Diablo” because it sounds a lot like a Backyard Babies song.
Next is “Rivethead” and amazing does not begin to describe how great this song is, I could and probably will drive my wife crazy by putting this song on repeat and listening to it non stop. The song sets itself apart from the rest of the album. It is acoustic based but it is by no means a ballad. You truly have to hear this song for it to be appreciated.
“Hell Tonight” is the heaviest song on the album and it is a decent song but it is in the wrong spot on the album because it has to follow “Rivethead” and it would be hard for any song to do that.
“And Take Your Toothbrush With You” is another song that instantly reminds me of Backyard Babies. LeMon gets to stand in the spotlight again with a great groove and bass playing and my newest guitar god, Randy Joy completely smokes the solo.
“SuperSassyBaby” completes our journey with Badmouth and it is another great song. I would not be surprised at all for this to become a new anthem for strippers around the world.
Most bands would have a hard time coming up with 3 songs that are as good as the songs on Badmouth’s debut album yet Badmouth came up with an album’s worth of great songs on their debut nonetheless. It’s not hard to expect great things from this band in the future.
You can pick up Badmouth’s new CD at CDBaby for the nice price of $10.00. Go get it! It is worth every penny! You can also preview some of the tracks on this disc at the Badmouth myspace page at this link.

COSMIC UNIVERSAL FASHION IS THE FIRST RELEASE FROM ROADRUNNER IMPRINT, LOUD & PROUD RECORDS
Multi-platinum Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar will release his eleventh solo album, Cosmic Universal Fashion, on November 18th via Loud & Proud Records (Roadrunner Records).
The title track and first single, “Cosmic Universal Fashion,” was written in an online collaboration between Hagar and a young Iraqi band in Baghdad, with the music video produced in the same spirit as the classic Van Halen video for “Right Now.” The album also features a rousing cover of the Beastie Boys’ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party).”
Hagar has led a storied three-decade career that has established him as one of America’s most beloved hard rockers, selling over 20 million albums and winning two Grammys. From his trailblazing early work with Montrose, to his prolific and popular solo career, his massively successful time with Van Halen, and currently as front man for his band Sammy Hagar and The Wabos, the veteran singer/guitarist has continued to make melodic, hard-charging rock that’s short on subtlety but long on punch and personality.
“’Cosmic Universal Fashion’ is not about
supporting left or right, blue or red, but rather
an attempt to appeal to people on a personal
level to get involved.” – Sammy Hagar
Check out Sammy Hagar’s new video, “Cosmic Universal Fashion” below!

The first single and video, “Bite It Like A Bulldog” can be seen below!
Randy Piper’s Animal is back with their follow up disc, to 2006’s “Violent New Breed”. I really enjoyed their last disc, and still listen to it often. Needless to say, I have been looking forward to hearing the new CD “Virus”.
Pretty much from the first notes of “Cardiac Arrest” I knew that I was going to like this disc a lot. This high speed heavy rocker gets “Virus” firing on all cylinders immediately.
Much like “Violent New Breed”, singer Rich Lewis continues to sound like a Blackie Lawless clone, and this is a very good thing.
While some of the songs on “Virus” have a very W.A.S.P. like feel to them, there are also some surprising numbers that have a more modern feel.
The song “Don’t Wanna Die” could easily be a hit on modern rock radio in 2008. This song has a lot different feel from anything Randy Piper’s Animal has done before. If anything, this is a really cool effort by the band to stay relevant in today’s music scene.
“Crying Eagle” fools you with its slow intro. Without warning the song takes off with its cool machine gun rhythm. It flows naturally into “Unnatural High” which has an almost progressive Dream Theater sound to it.
Remember The Cranberries song “Zombie”? Randy Piper’s Animal covers it here, and quite frankly I like this metalized version of the song much better.
If there is anything negative about this CD, it would be the total play time, which falls short of 39 minutes. It only leaves me wanting to hear more music by Randy Piper’s Animal. As a whole, I enjoyed this CD quite a bit, so much in fact that I wouldn’t be surprised to see it make my Top 10 hard rock/metal CD’s of 2008.
Randy Piper plays his ass off on this disc, and as a result this disc shines. Rich Lewis sounds even better than on ‘Virus” than he did on “Violent New Breed”. Chris Laney not only does a superb job as the second axeman for Randy Piper’s Animal, he also handled the production on this disc. If Laney ever decides to hang up his guitar, he the skill to make it as a producer. Virus has top quality sound and production!
If you have enjoyed any music by W.A.S.P. or Randy Piper’s Animal in the past, pick this up. You won’t be disappointed.
Highly Recommended Listening!
Randy Piper’s Animal is:
Rich Lewis – Vocals
Randy Piper – Guitars
Chris Laney – Guitars
Nalle “Grizzly” Pahlsson – Bass
Johan Koleberg – Drums
Negative Space is an unsigned alternative rock act out of Lancaster, PA. Their new CD, “Storylines” is a little lighter than some of the discs I have been listening to as of late, but it does seem to have a mix of styles which makes this an interesting listening experience.
Some songs such as “Diaries“, “Fairweather”, “Right Time” and “Falling” have just enough of hard guitar licks to keep me interested.
“Fairweather” is a tune that I could easily hear on modern rock radio. It is a song that could have some hit potential for Negative Space, if it gets enough airplay.
For whatever reason, “Falling” reminds me a lot of Nickelback. I could easily hear Chad Kroeger singing this song. It is very much in that vein.
The music on this “Storylines” sounds like a blend of many of today’s rock acts including Breaking Benjamin, Jimmy Eat World and maybe even a dash of Anberlin.
Josh Nice is good vocalist. His style and sound falls more into the Pop/Rock genre, but his vocals are well suited for the music on this disc.
Although I prefer my music to be more on the harder side, I believe “Storylines” is pretty good. It shows the raw potential of Negative Space. With a little help, these guys could be destined for big things!
Negative Space is:
Josh Nice – Vocals
Rick Lienhard – Guitar
Britain Roda – Guitar
Mark Reinmiller – Bass
Jimmy Everly – Drums
WHITE ZOMBIE. The musical horrorshow that mixed dark pop culture with metallic hard rock has been resurrected on the 4-CD/1-DVD box set “Let Sleeping Corpses Lie” (Geffen/UMe), released November 25, 2008. The CDs bring together for the first time all 64 original studio recordings released by the band led by Rob Zombie during its 1985-1996 career. The DVD offers nine music videos, 10 live performances, and some hidden gems.
Disc One of “Let Sleeping Corpses Lie” includes all of the tracks released on the New York City band’s own Silent Explosion label — the four songs on the 1985 “Gods On Voodoo Moon” EP, of which only 300 copies were pressed; the two songs on the 1986 “Pig Heaven” EP, which had only 1,000 made; and the seven on 1987’s “Psycho-Head Blowout” EP, which NIRVANA’s Kurt Cobain called one of his favorite albums.
Disc Two encompasses WHITE ZOMBIE’s first two full-length albums, 1987’s “Soul-Crusher”, which began on Silent Explosion but was re-released by Caroline Records the following year, and 1989’s “Make Them Die Slowly”. Disc Three offers the three-selection “God Of Thunder” EP and the band’s 1992 major label debut, “La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1”, which broke the band into the Top 40, earned double platinum and spawned the Best Hard Rock Performance Grammy-nominated “Thunder Kiss ’65” and “Black Sunshine” (with Iggy Pop). Also heard is “I Am Hell” from the soundtrack to the 1993 animated flick “The Beavis & Butt-head Experience”.
Disc Four opens with “Children Of The Grave” from a 1994 BLACK SABBATH tribute album and “Feed The Gods” from that year’s “Airheads” soundtrack album. The centerpiece, however, is 1995’s “Astro-Creep: 2000, Songs Of Love, Destruction And Other Synthetic Delusions Of The Electric Head”, which ranked in the Top 10 for two months, was certified triple platinum and spun off the Modern Rock Top 10, Grammy-nominated “More Human Than Human”. The 64 “Let Sleeping Corpses Lie” recordings conclude with 1996 soundtrack contributions to “Escape From L.A.”, “Beavis And Butt-head Do America” and “The Crow: City Of Angels”, with its Grammy-nominated cover of the disco hit “I’m Your Boogieman”.
Among the DVD’s videos are those for “More Human Than Human”, winner of the MTV Video Music Award for Best Hard Rock Video, as well as “Thunder Kiss ’65”, “Black Sunshine”, “Super-Charger Heaven”, “I’m Your Boogieman” and “The One”. Live performances include “Soul-Crusher”, “Spiderbaby (Yeah Yeah Yeah)”, “I Am Hell” and “Creature Of The Wheel”.
WHITE ZOMBIE officially disbanded in 1998 after the release of the “Hellbilly Deluxe”, the triple platinum solo debut for Rob Zombie, who has since enjoyed continued success both on record and as a film director with his vision of the dark side.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of WHITE LION “Bang Your Head Festival 2005” DVD on December 5th 2008.
White Lion left its musical mark in the late 80’s with a series of highly acclaimed albums including “Mane Attraction”, “Big Game” and the million seller “Pride” which spawned such hits as “Wait” and “When The Children Cry”. The band was also recognized for its signature album tracks that transcended socio-political themes such as “Lady Of The Valley”, “Cry For Freedom”, “Lights N Thunder” and “Warsong”.
White Lion originally disbanded in 1991 and it wasn’t until 2005 when singer Mike Tramp decided to handpick a handful of musicians (including Jamie Law on guitar, Troy Patrick Farrell on drums, Henning Wanner on keyboards and Claus Langeskov on bass) to carry again the flag of White Lion in a long European tour that culminated in a successful apparition at the “Bang Your Head Festival”. In Tramp’s own words “this concert was the definitive turning point and event that finally convinced me that it was worth going on with the next chapter of White Lion and that rock fans had not forgotten and still appreciated the music of White Lion”.
And indeed this DVD reflects the magic of an unforgettable night with amazing renditions of all the band’s hits and signature songs. A testament of what was and a statement for the future who brought the successful studio return album “Return of the Pride” released in March 2008.
DVD contents include:
Bang Your Head Festival 2005 concert: Lights And Thunder; Hungry; Lonely Nights; Broken Heart; Fight to Survive; Little Fighter; Living on the Edge; Tell Me; Wait; Radar Love.
