1 An Update From Lillian Axe

  • December 16, 2010
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music
Lillian Axe is alive and well! We know we have been away for a awhile. We now have narrowed our search for a new singer down to two candidates and we will be announcing our new singer in January. We, along with our manager took our time going through numerous submissions and auditions to find the right man for the job and we are almost there. Please be patient and we know you will not be disappointed. We just wanted to make sure we have the right singer to help move Lillian Axe forward and to continue to make great music.
We are going to start 2011 with a full throttle assault. We are going to record a new song with our new singer that will be available for download so everyone can hear some new Lillian Axe! Then we will be hitting the road to tour and finally support Deep Red Shadows with a new set list and stage production with the same Lillian Axe intensity that will blow your minds.
The new Cuba Gooding Jr. movie, “The Hit List” will finally be released in March and features the single “47 Ways To Die” as the main song in the movie.
The entire Lillian Axe organization would like to wish everyone “happy holidays” and a “happy and healthy new year.” 2011 is going to be a special time for Lillian Axe.
We love you all,

Steve, Sam, Eric & Ken

0 Lillian Axe in Search of New Singer

  • October 6, 2010

  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

Lillian Axe sent out the following message this morning:

As you may have heard by now, Ronny Munroe will not be the lead singer of Lillian Axe due to prior commitments beyond anyone’s control. We love Ronny and wish him the best. We remain on great terms and the band is already in auditions with several new singers. Steve has already written several new songs for the new album that we will record in 2011.
Unfortunately this means that we will have to postpone our tour to support Deep Red Shadows. We were planning to tour at the end of October – November in the USA and in Europe in January. As soon as the new singer is chosen, the band plans to record a new song for immediate download to introduce him. Then Lillian will do a string of warm up dates while working on the next album slated for 2011 release.
In March 2011, the new Cuba Gooding Jr. movie, “Hit List” will be released and it features “47 Ways To Die” as the main opening song in the movie during the opening credits and start of the movie.
Lillian Axe is still looking for the right vocalist.
Submissions for singers MUST include the following to be considered: (1) 3 song demo CD, (2) DVD containing your recent live performance (3) 2 photos (color and b&w) and (4) your bio containing your musical resume.
All submissions should be sent to:
Love & War Records
PO Box 130
Hicksville, New York  11802-0130
Attn: A&R
****Please keep the packages at the following size (10″l x 2″w x 10″h)
(All submissions become the property of Love & War Records and will not be returned to the sender).

1 Metal Church’s Ronny Munroe – The New Singer of Lillian Axe!

  • June 24, 2010
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

Love & War Records and Lillian Axe welcome Ronny Munroe as the new voice of Lillian Axe. As of August 1, 2010, Ronny Munroe, formerly the lead vocalist of Metal Church, will join Lillian Axe as a fulltime member replacing departing vocalist Derrick LeFevre as lead vocalist of Lillian Axe.

The members of Lillian Axe wish Derrick LeFevre nothing but the best of luck in his future endeavors. Unfortunately Derrick could not commit to the rigorous touring schedule that Lillian Axe prides itself on to this day.

When Ronny Munroe takes the stage, he has the crowd’s attention. His unique vocal style sets him apart from other singers because he brings something extraordinary to every song. Ronny is an in-your-face performer, consummate professional, innovative lyricist and songwriter who fuses melody with hard hitting rock in a way that will take your breath away.

Lillian Axe founder and guitarist, Steve Blaze says, “We met Ronny in Seattle playing a show together two years ago. My first impression was “damn he’s tall!” After watching him perform, I thought to myself how amazing a vocalist and presence he was. I always keep in the back of my mind great talents when I see them, and Ronny was one of those guys. During the 3 days we spent together in New Orleans rehearsing and getting to know each other, I was amazed how well he fit in as a human being as well as a band mate. The true talent is only half the game; the person is the other. Ronny has it all. Having Ronny as a writing partner and performing partner is something I am very much looking forward to!”

Bassist Eric Morris agrees, “I am looking forward to what a vocalist like Ronny can bring to the table. I think he will add a whole new element and catapult our music into a brand new fan base as well as satisfy the die-hards.”

0 Lillian Axe – Sad Day on Planet Earth (2009)

  • July 28, 2009
  • by Rob Rockitt
  • · CD Reviews I-P · Entertainment · Hard Rock Music · Hard Rock News · Music

LillianAxeSDOPERocking the world of hard rock and heavy metal since 1988, Lillian Axe is a veteran rock band that knows what it takes to deliver the goods. They’ve recently returned with their latest CD, Sad Day On Planet Earth, trying to prove that they can still rock hard and make a great album worthy of your valuable listening time.

Sad Day On Planet Earth opens with the excellent instrumental, “Cocoon”, which sets the stage for the rest of the disc. The acoustic guitar mixed with some special sound effects paints a dark, ominous picture of what’s to come. “Cocoon” bleeds into “Megaslowfade”, a rocker that was made to lead off an album.

“Megaslowfade” takes the intro of “Cocoon” and turns it on its ear. This is a guitar heavy, head banging, hard rocking, fist pumping song that electrifies the senses. An enjoyable way to get things started, “Megaslowfade” is one of the best cuts on the disc. The changes from bridge to chorus to verse are well done and enjoyable, and show just how much talent this band still has. The power behind this song is breathtaking; a great punch in the gut that makes the listener notice the immediate impact of Sad Day On Planet Earth.

“Jesus Wept” picks up where the previous song left off, albeit it a slightly slower tempo. This is a catchy song that will have you singing along in no time. The demanding drumbeat, gripping guitar riffs, and crisp vocals pull this song together and make it one to remember.

The title track is the power ballad of the disc without much power. While the message in the lyrics is strong and worth paying attention to, the music doesn’t quite match up and this attempt at a ballad misses the mark. Derrick LeFevre’s voice isn’t up to the task of singing this slow one, and the acoustic guitar riffs are lack innovation and style; they’re just plain vanilla. “Within Your Reach” is the better ballad on the disc, but still doesn’t deliver that knockout punch expected in a strong, complete ballad. The song starts with potential, but falls apart by the chorus and is never able to recover from that point.

“Fire, Blood, the Earth and Sea” is the big, Maiden-esque epic to close out the disc, and it delivers. This is a good way to say goodbye and a great showing of Lillian Axe’s talent. The acoustic guitar intros the song followed by a singing chant from Derrick LeFevre to set up the hammer punch that will soon follow. Like most great epics, this song is complete with several chord changes, lyrical depth, and a deeper message within the lyrics. This song pulsates with power and if there is one song that you should own from this album, “Fire, Blood, the Earth and Sea” is the one.  This is an amazing, powerful song that is pleasing to the ear and sure to be enjoyed by any heavy metal fan.

While Derrick LeFevre may not be the original lead singer of the band, he has a great voice and is an excellent singer for Lillian Axe. While he struggles with the ballads, Derrick still has a strong voice and proves it on the heavier tracks from Sad Day On Planet Earth. His vocal styles combined with the amazing guitar work of Sam Poitevent and Steven Blaze make for a great combination and a lot of fun.

Sad Day On Planet Earth is rock with an edge. This is a solid album that delivers what rock fans want, hard hitting, catchy tunes that will move your feet and have you banging your head and throwing your metal hair all over the place. What more could a metal addict want?

lillianaxe
“Classic, Heavy, Progressive…..embracing the past…shaping the future.” is the battle cry of our new home.

Lillian Axe and their manager are proud to announce that Lillian Axe has signed a worldwide recording contract for 4 albums with Swedish Label, Blistering
Records (www.blisteringrecords.se) Blistering Records’ US office is located in Pittsburgh, PA and the label is distributed by Ryko Distribution in the United
States. The U.S. operations of Blistering Records are run by music industry veteran, Jim Pitulski. Jim is well respected in the hard rock and metal
community and Lillian Axe is happy to welcome Jim and the Blistering Records staff to our family.

Derrick, Eric, Ken, Sam and Steve are so excited about joining the Blistering Records roster of artists and look forward to a long and successful venture
recording their music for Blistering Records.

While searching for a new label over the past year, Lillian Axe was looking for a label who wanted the band to be part of their present and future. Blistering
Records proved to be the most aggressive suitors for Lillian Axe and that made our decision that much easier to make. Blistering Records wanted Lillian Axe
and Lillian Axe wanted to be part of Blistering Records.

Lillian Axe, having re-established themselves in 2007 and 2008 look forward to 2009 as the year of The Axe. Lillian Axe will embark on their world tour in June
in support of their new CD, “Sad Day On Planet Earth” taking them across the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. Every city and every festival that
wants Lillian Axe will have them. Lillian Axe look forward to being on the road for the next 12 months.

Although, Lillian Axe never forgets its past, their sound is very modern. The new CD entitled “Sad Day On Planet Earth” is by far their strongest album
musically speaking. There are so many different sounding songs that all forms of radio: Active Rock, Mainstream Rock and Metal Radio will embrace this album.
Lillian Axe are happy to be giving this album to a label who truly believes in the band. 14 songs of pure Lillian Axe.

The songs that will be appearing on “Sad Day On Planet Earth” were written by Steve Blaze. The song titles are: Megaslowfade, Ignite, Divine, Down Below The
Ocean, Jesus Wept, Within Your Reach, Sad Day On Planet Earth, Fire Blood The Earth & Sea, The Grand Scale Of Finality, Cold Day In Hell, Blood Raining Down
On Her Wings, Hibernate, Kill Me Again and Nocturnal Symphony.

All the album artwork is being created by Peter Tsakiris, who is a major force in the industry having created album art for Dio, Twisted Sister, Deep Purple,
Ted Nugent, Overkill, Jackyl and Warrior Soul to name a few.

Once again, we thank you for the opportunity to make the music Lillian Axe has believed in its whole career. Lillian Axe looks forward to making music with you
today, tomorrow and in the future.

Keep an eye out for more news on Lillian Axe as we get closer to the birth of “Sad Day On Planet Earth.”

Lillian Axe has posted the following update on their website:
On December 13, 2008 in New Orleans, LA; at the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Howlin’ Wolf Club, LILLIAN AXE will be filming their performance in High Definition with seven cameras.  It is quite possible that this concert, with all the cool backstage footage and antics with Derrick, Eric, Ken, Sam and Steve along with their great road crew, will be released on DVD and will be included as an added value in their new upcoming CD scheduled to be released in the Spring of 2009, as a “thank you” to all the loving fans that have never stopped supporting Lillian Axe and continue to believe in the dream of a lifetime.

We are asking all the Lillian Axe fans to come to our show and be filmed alongside LILLIAN AXE. Purchase your tickets early because this show is going to sell out.  C’mon down and see two of the greatest bands to come out of New Orleans, Lillian Axe and the legendary Zebra.

The Howlin’ Wolf 20th Anniversary Concert featuring Zebra and Lillian Axe is being brought to you by Bayou 95.7.

This live video goes all the way back to 1987, right before Lillian Axe released their first CD. It takes about a minute to get going, but is worth checking out.
