SACRED OATH has released a brand new single “Revolution” as a Digital 45 in response to the revolutions in progress around the globe.
“Revolution” has been released worldwide exclusively through iTunes today as the first commercially available single from the “World On Fire” album. The ‘Digital 45’ format allows for a B-side track and so we’ve also included a previously unreleased bonus track “Burn Away (Loki’s Song).”
“The world really is on fire,” says the band’s primary songwriter and lead singer Rob Thorne. “Conceptually, we chose to do this album on ‘Dune’ because there are so many parallels with the struggles on our planet here and now, and revolution in this country seems inevitable. It was kind of freaky to see the revolutions here in Wisconsin and also in the Middle East break out just a couple months after the album was released.”
“World On Fire” was released November 9th to critical praise and was chosen as one of iTunes Top Metal Albums of 2010.

I am not sure why it has taken me so long to discover the metal band Sacred Oath. Judging from the great sounds of their new 14 song CD, I have a lot of catching up to do. This CD is a packed full of classic 80’s style heavy metal, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you have been longing for music packed full of guitar solos, and soaring vocals, look no further. The music on this CD reminds me of a cross between Iron Maiden, old Queensryche and possibly Savatage. Rob Thorne has a pretty remarkable range in his vocals. Why haven’t I heard of this guy before?! I love his old school style of singing. The band backing him up might not be household names amongst metal musicians, but there are some serious players on this CD. Guitarist Bill Smith is one of the newer members of Sacred Oath. I am not sure where Rob Thorne, and Kenny Evans found this guy, but they found a great new talent. He cuts loose with solos on just about every song.
I was immediately impressed by the opening cut, “Paradise Lost”. Huge vocals, awesome galloping guitars, and fantastic solos to boot. This is the way to open up an album! By the time you get halfway through the song “Voodoo Dolls” you will be holding your horns high! The CD doesn’t slow down until the mid tempo rocker, “Counting Zeros”. Rob Thorne’s towering vocals are the centerpiece of this killer cut.
“Caught In the Act” reminds me of Slave to the Grind era of Skid Row. This is a another high tempo rocker.
There are a couple of weak cuts on the CD, but overall, I am quite pleased with the majority of the songs here. The moments of brilliance well out weigh the band ones! Some of my favorite cuts are, “Voodoo Dolls”, “Counting Zeros”, “Buried Alive”, and the title track “Sacred Oath”.
Sacred Oath has managed to crank out one of the better metal albums of 2009. It is definitely a disc most metal heads should check out.
This CD is available in most major retailers starting today. Don’t miss out on Sacred Oath! For more information on the band, check out their myspace page. You can check out the “Counting Zeros” video, as well as preview a couple of the tunes below.

The brand new self-titled album “Sacred Oath” was released in Europe on July 10th through SAOL, a subsidiary of the CMM Marketing, distributed by H’Art Musik.
iTunes featured the album for 10 consecutive weeks on the Rock Homepage and chose the first single “Counting Zeros” as the Discovery Download of the Week April 7th as part of an exclusive digital release.
Distribution in North America is through E1 Entertainment (Koch).
Rob Thorne, lead singer and guitarist from Connecticut power metal band Sacred Oath, will be the special guest on this week’s edition of Hard Rock Nights on ClassX. Sacred Oath will release their new self-titled album on May 12. The first single, “Counting Zeros,” has already made an impact on the hard rock world through features on MTV’s Head Bangers Blog, BW&BK’s Knuckletracks Player, and as an iTunes Discovery Download “Pick of the Week,” with an estimated 300,000 downloads during the week of April 6. Thorne will speak with JT about the new record, the 22-year old whiz kid guitarist in the band, and plans for touring and future singles from the record. Release dates for both the standard and deluxe version of the CD have been set for May 12th (US, Canada) . The official version contains 10 songs in a jewel case. The deluxe edition has 14 songs and is packaged in an elaborate digipack with a 16 page lyric and photo booklet. All four bonus tracks in the deluxe package are additional brand new songs. Why two editions? “Pricing, really” says Rob Thorne. “Old-school Oathbangers won’t have any qualms paying $14 for the deluxe, but newcomers to the band might, and we’re working on an exclusive with iTunes to feature the album at a discounted price. You just can’t do that with 14 songs.”
“Sacred Oath,” the self-titled third studio album from the legendary cult power metal band, was produced and engineered by Rob Thorne at his studio Angel Thorne Music in Connecticut.
Says Thorne, “We wrote, tracked, and mixed this record in 12 weeks, about one-fifth the time we spent with Darkness Visible. The band is just on fire, riding on the high we experienced with the successful tour and the release of the live disc.”
Favorite track on the album? “Ooooh,” says Thorne, “I love so many tracks on this disc, but I’d have to say Counting Zeros is my choice TODAY (laughs). We’ve always been a concept-oriented band, and that song really sums up the lyrical theme of this record.”
When pressed on whether this is a concept-album, Thorne smiles. “Two powers could be at it again.”
The band is giving away a free download of the first single from the new album – “Blood Storm.” Simply register at www.sacredoath.net.
A Blood Storm has been forecast to blanket the entire metal planet through the holiday season with no relief in sight.
Sacred Oath is making an unmastered mp3 of the song from their brand new album freely available at www.sacredoath.net in celebration of their redesigned website.
The new self-titled album from Sacred Oath contains 14 songs, including Blood Storm, Paradise Lost, Scourge of Sin, Buried Alive, and is expected to see a late-spring 2009 release date.
The album was produced by lead singer/guitarist Rob Thorne and features the current lineup that appeared on the critically-acclaimed live album ‘Till Death Do Us Part (2008 Angel Thorne Music).
The website has been redesigned by Ioannis and his company Vivid Images Creative to support the anticipated release of the new CD. Ioannis has also painted the cover art for the album, which fans can preview on the new site as well.
Photography for the CD, site , and general publicity use was done by Mark Weiss.
Sacred Oath is recognized for pioneering the power metal genre with their cult-classic release “A Crystal Vision” (1987 Mercenary Records).
The band broke apart for almost seventeen years, but reformed with the triumphant “Darkness Visible” CD (2007 Sentinel Steel) and followed that release with a live album recorded at the first date of their European tour (Keep It True Festival, Germany).
