Internationally renowned, Grammy-nominated/AMA-nominated hard rock band SALIVA blasted onto the scene in 2001 with their double-platinum certified album Every Six Seconds, featuring the hit tracks ‘Superstar’, ‘Your Disease’, ‘Click Click Boom’, and ‘After Me’. Tracks from the record were featured in popular media ranging from the original Fast And The Furious film, Dracula 2000, WWE Wrestlemania and No Mercy, and video games like Spy Hunter, BMX XX, Project Gotham Racing, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003, and many more. In 2002, the band garnered more attention with former lead singer Josey Scott taking part in a duet track with Nickleback vocalist Chad Kroeger for the track ‘Hero’, appearing on the Spider-Man soundtrack. Later that year, the band’s next release, Back Into Your System, launched the track ‘Always’, which hit the #1 on the Modern Rock Charts. The next several years included more successes for the band, including 2004’s Survival Of The Sickest, which featured the hit single ‘Rest In Pieces’, and also churned out several tracks in video games like NASCAR 2005 and television events like WWE’s Unforgiven.Three years later, the band continued to see major success with 2007’s Blood Stained Love Story, which debuted at #19 on the Billboard Top 200 charts and boasted the popular single ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’. The band’s next two albums, Cinco Diabloand Under Your Skin, each saw Billboard Top 200 debuts within their first week of release, respectively. Now with a new singer Bobby Amaru, SALIVA looks forward to a bright future with their refreshed rock sound and line-up, which also includes guitarist Wayne Swinny, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosby.

0 Saliva – Rise Up (2014) – CD Review
When Josey Scott left Saliva in 2011, the band had two options, (a). break up or (b) start over by finding a new front man. Thankfully, the band chose plan b, and found a new singer, Bobby Amaru (Amaru, Burn Season).
Starting over is always a daunting task for any band, especially one with a huge fan base like Saliva. Luckily, Amaru was a great find, and his voice works perfectly for Saliva. I expect a lot of great things for this new era of Saliva, and I really like the direction the band has moved in with their latest album Rise Up.
Rise Up is a heavier album for Saliva, but not so heavy that it will disappoint the band’s fans. This album is packed with radio friendly rockers, and many songs that could easily be hits for Saliva.
The album cover fits the title track “Rise Up” perfectly. When you hear this song you will definitely want to throw your fist in the air! As much as I like “Rise Up”, it does not even compare to “She Can Sure Hide Crazy”. Easily my favorite track on “Rise Up”, this catchy rocker is going to be a huge song for Saliva!
“Lost” is a mid-tempo number that I expect to be another hit for Saliva. It is great to hear Wayne Swinny cutting lose with some big, clean guitar riffs on this song.
“Redneck Freakshow” sounds like classic Saliva. This is another heavy rocker with a killer beat! I love Paul Crosby’s drumming on this song. This is another one of my new Saliva favorites.
I find myself headbanging every time the song “Army” comes up. This is another cool rocker with a great beat courtesy of Mr. Crosby. Love the vocals too!
“In It To Win It” is one of the heaviest Saliva songs ever, and this fist pumping rocker should be a real crowd pleaser in Saliva’s live set.
Saliva’s new album Rise Up will definitely put the band back on the road to success. I have been enjoying this album, and I think you will to.
Rise Up will be released April 29th to a store near you, and on iTunes and Amazon.com. Don’t miss this!

1 SALIVA RETURN WITH NEW SINGER, LABEL, SINGLE, ALBUM, AND TOUR
If you counted Saliva out when you heard that they had parted ways with singer Josey Scott, you have been proven dead wrong – all you have to do is give a listen to the group’s upcoming single, “Rise Up” (impacting radio and available for purchase via all digital stores on February 18th), and album of the same name (April 29th, via Rum Bum). And with new singer Bobby Amaru firmly in place, it appears as though there is a bright future for the new-look Saliva line-up, which also includes guitarist Wayne Swinny, bassist Dave Novotny, and drummer Paul Crosby.
“We’re lucky to have found him,” says Swinny about his new band mate. “We discovered him through one of our old crew guys. He really energized the rest of us. He’s a great songwriter, and a top-shelf producer in his own right.”
With acclaimed producer Bobby Huff (Papa Roach, 3 Doors Down, Tim Finn) on board, all the pieces seem to be in place. And Saliva has delivered with their new single, “Rise Up.” “‘Rise Up’ …it’s a statement on where we’re at,” adds Swinny. “The title just has that fire to it.”
And if you are a longtime Saliva fan, you are sure to be extremely pleased with the full-length ‘Rise Up’ – a bold record full of big hooks, swagger and plenty
of guitars. And, outside of the ballad “Lost,” it’s first and foremost a rock record. These are songs that kick hard, from the immediacy of the aforementioned “Rise Up,” to the slow build of “Choke,” and the rollickin’ “Redneck Freakshow,” a song the band seems particularly proud of.
Saliva has already debuted a number of new songs live, with Amaru seamlessly working his way into the line-up. “The audiences have been great,” says the singer. “I think we have a whole new energy on stage.” Expect to see the band on tour the rest of the year and well into next. “It’s definitely a throwback, fun, party rock show,” adds Swinny. “And Bobby’s putting his own spin on the older material.”
Another piece to the puzzle has been uniting with a new independent label, Rum Bum Records, founded by Luis Bacardi, based in Miami, FL. Led by a team of
industry veterans dedicated to finding original talent of all genres, the label offers worldwide distribution, and provides artists with the resources necessary to develop and expand their careers. By utilizing a variety of platforms including imaging, video production, marketing, social media, and publicity, Rum Bum Records is able to create versatile portfolios for talent, opening the doors to as many opportunities as possible. Additionally, the label has a full state of the art HD Film studio to successfully build an artist’s image and brand identity into one that is fully recognized and sought after by the public.
There’s certainly a lot of revitalized energy on display throughout ‘Rise Up.’ And despite his late arrival, Amaru thinks he knows why Saliva in 2014 sounds as vital as they were in 2001. “We’ve just gone back to the basics. You know, /being a rock band.”/
Saliva:
Wayne Swinny – guitars
Dave Novotny – bass
Paul Crosby – drums, percussion

5 Vie’s Verses – The Autumn Preview
Autumn has finally arrived. Football kicks off tonight, the kids are back to school, and most of us don’t have another day off from work until Thanksgiving break. Wow, that’s a long time away. And with the arrival of fall, I think about new music releases. Autumn is usually the last time I have to purchase a highly anticipated new album until spring, so I relish the fall releases. Here are some of the fall discs that I am looking forward to.
Nine Inch Nails – Hesitation Marks
Release Date: Out Now
In college I was a huge fan of Nine Inch Nails. The Downward Spiral was on constant replay in my CD player and I was in love with the band. As the 90s progressed, I fell out of touch with Nine Inch Nails and never really got back into them. Now with the release of their (Trent Reznor’s? his?) first album in years, this could be a jumping on point for me. I haven’t heard any of the new songs yet, but I am interested in seeing what Trent Reznor has produced for his latest Nine Inch Nails album. The album is in stores now, so maybe I will kick off my football weekend by purchasing a copy.
Pearl Jam – Lightning Bolt
Release Date: October 15th
There is no album that I am more eager to get my greedy music loving ears on than Pearl Jam’s Lightning Bolt. I have been a huge fan of Pearl Jam since I first heard “Alive” in college. From that moment on, I was in love with the band. Their last record, Backspacer, was decent, but I felt it lacked a lot of what I had come to expect from Pearl Jam, and I worried that perhaps the band had peaked and hit their swan song with their self-titled album. Now the band has a chance to prove me wrong and if lead single “Mind Your Manners” is any indication of what to expect from Lightning Bolt, then consider me all in. I have a gut feeling that 2014 may just be Pearl Jam’s biggest year yet.
Five Finger Death Punch – The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell: Volume Two
Release Date: Autumn
Prior to volume one of this release, I was not much of a Five Finger Death Punch fan. I thought they were okay at best, and then I had the opportunity to review their last record for Hard Rock Hideout (review to be posted soon). Now I am a lover of this band and I anxiously await the release of The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell: Volume Two. If Volume Two is anywhere near as magnificent as Volume One, I will be spending a lot of my Autumn days listening to Five Finger Death Punch.
Saliva – In It To Win It
Release Date: Available Now
I will admit that I am very curious about this album. I was a huge fan of Saliva in the days of Josey Scott and Jonathan Montoya. After their greatest hits record, I stopped listening to Saliva for reasons that I don’t even know. I did not purchase their last record, Under Your Skin, and then when Josey Scott left the band after Jonathan Montoya, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I honestly thought the band was finished. And yet, here they are, having just released another record, In It To Win It. Bobby Amaru has taken over the vocal duties for the departed Scott, and I am very interested in seeing if this new lead singer will breathe new life into the band, or if this is the end of Saliva as we know it.
Stryper – No More Hell To Pay
Release Date: November 5th
Without question, I am going to pick up the latest release from Stryper. After Pearl Jam’s Lightning Bolt it is the must have release of the fall for me. I’ve always been a huge fan of Stryper and the fact that they are still releasing new material excites me to no end. I can only hope that their new songs are as good as other 80s metal bands who have released new albums lately (Tom Keifer and Jackyl come to mind). If Stryper can continue to make music as solid as the bonus tracks from their hits records, or Murder By Pride, then fans will rejoice. The best news about this new release is that it will contain original material. No more cover albums or re-recorded hits for Stryper—it’s going to be brand new music all the way. That makes me very happy!
Those are the albums that I am most looking forward to this fall. What about you? What are your Autumn Anticipations? Drop a line in the comments section or tweet me (@ryovie) and let me know if I am missing out on anything good.

2 Saliva – Under Your Skin (2011)
Memphis rockers Saliva are back with their 7th album, Under Your Skin. For the band’s latest effort, Island Records brought in the two time Grammy nominated producer Howard Benson (Bang Tango, Motörhead, Theory of a Deadman, Halestorm). With Benson at the helm, I believe Saliva has turned in one of their most interesting, and quite possibly one of their best releases yet.
Those of you who like the old rap/rock sounds of Saliva, will be quite happy with the songs “Badass” and “Burn It Up”. Both songs preserve the class sound of Saliva.
If I would have heard the songs “Better Days” or “Nothing” on the radio before hearing this album, I would not have recognized these to be Saliva songs. Both tunes are modern rock numbers that Saliva should have some moderate success with. Josey Scott’s voice continues to surprise me. When he sings, instead of raps, his voice truly shines.
“Hate Me” is a pretty catchy tune that has a partial writing credit from Zac Maloy from the Nixons.
“Never Should’ve Let You Go” and “Prove Me Wrong” practically sound like left over Shinedown songs. I say this in a very positive sense, as I like Shinedown a lot. “Never Should’ve Let You Go” is a another modern rock number that by all means, ought to be a major hit for Saliva. “Prove Me Wrong” is a semi-heavier tune that will likely find its way to radio as well.
My favorite track off of Under Your Skin is the tune “Toxic Suicide”. This song is very infectious, and I can’t get it out of my head.
“Spotlight” closes out Under Your Skin on a high note with another catchy rocker.
Overall, I have been enjoying Under Your Skin quite a bit. It seems to get better with every spin. I recommend checking it out!
You can listen to the stream of Under Your Skin at this link.

From hit movies about car racing to Wrestlemania to nationwide television broadcasts of college basketball, one particular band has been tapped to provide aggressive, kick-ass rock ’n’ roll to jack up the pulse of the masses—Saliva. Now, six albums and a dozen years after the Memphis-born group debuted on record, Saliva issues its first retrospective, Moving Forward In Reverse: Greatest Hits (Island/UMe), to be released ..March 23, 2010.
Featuring 13 of Saliva’s best-known tracks and a new track, “Time To Shine,” only available on this release, Moving Forward In Reverse: Greatest Hits is brash and brazen, fast and furious. Saliva adds, “Moving Forward In Reverse is a message to our fans to let them know we haven’t gone anywhere. It was also a lyric from one of our songs named ‘So Long,’ and seemed to apply! The new song was written for fans who crank ‘Click Click Boom’ to pump themselves up for a game or while their working out or driving a tank! So, enjoy, ‘Time To Shine’!”
In 1998, after advancing to the final round of the Grammy® Showcase competition in ….New York City…., Saliva debuted with a self-released, self-titled disc. That album’s impressive sales in the South led Island Records to sign the band and release Every Six Seconds, Saliva’s major label debut, in 2001. “Your Disease” shot to #3 Mainstream Rock/#7 Alternative Rock and “Click Click Boom” went to #15 Mainstream Rock/#25 Alternative Rock. “Click Click Boom” and “Superstar” (also included on Moving Forward In Reverse) were featured in The Fast And The Furious and on the film’s second soundtrack album. “Superstar” was also the theme for Wrestlemania 18 and the WWE’s “No Mercy” pay-per-view event, and “Click Click Boom” was included on the Talladega Nights soundtrack. The album would earn double platinum.
2002’s Back Into Your System reached the Top 20, went gold and spawned the #1 Alternative hit “Always” (#2 Mainstream Rock and the 2002 WWE Survivor Series theme), the #11 Mainstream Rock/#20 Alternative “Rest In Pieces” (co-written by Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe), and Top 30 Mainstream Rocker “Raise Up.” “Bleed For Me,” from the “Rest In Pieces” single, appeared on the soundtrack album for Daredevil.
The band’s 2004 album Survival Of The Sickest, an unapologetic tribute to influences AC/DC, Black Sabbath, and Mötley Crüe, also peaked Top 20, spinning off the #6 Mainstream Rock/Top 25 Alternative title track and Top 20 Mainstream Rock “Razor’s Edge.” In 2007, Blood Stained Love Story, again a Top 20 entry, offered “Ladies and Gentlemen” (#2 Mainstream Rock)–the theme song for Wrestlemania 23, UFC’s “Wired” and a Sony PlayStation commercial–and “Broken Sunday” (#8 Mainstream Rock). From 2008’s Cinco Diablo, “Family Reunion,” a heartfelt salute to the band’s fans, hit #14 Mainstream Rock, and was heard on ESPN college basketball broadcasts.

7 Rockitt Rant – Songs That Sound The Same
Twice in 2008 (and maybe more) we have had examples of bands stealing songs from another group. First, Velvet Revolver was busted for swiping a guitar riff off of the band Dirty Deeds. More recently Joe Satriani has accused the band Coldplay of the same thing.
Last night I was listening to Saliva’s 2007 CD, “Blood Stained Love Story”. A song of interest to me was the song “Black Sheep” by Saliva. This wasn’t a hit by Saliva, but I thought it sounded somewhat familiar. It finally dawned on me what song this reminded me of. It was Nickelback’s song “Animal” off of their 2005 CD, All The Right Reasons.
Here is a copy of Saliva’s tune “Black Sheep”:
Here is Nickelback’s “Animals”:
Listen to the music! The similarities are uncanny. While the songs are not exactly the same, there are parts of “Black Sheep” that sounds like it was heavily borrowed from Nickelback.
This seems to be a disturbing trend that I am seeing more often as of late. I don’t know if this recent example is lawsuit worthy or not, but you can’t deny how similar the songs are.
I am sure there are a lot more examples than this one.
Do you know of any songs that sound the same from two different artists?
1 STATIC-X & SALIVA Join Forces On SNO-CORE 2009
Burn Halo and The Flood Join In Support
CULT OF STATIC to be released March 17th on REPRISE RECORDS
Static-X and Saliva co-headline on Sno-Core, as it returns for its 13th year hitting the road April 1, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. The touring festival is the original winter lifestyle traveling fair featuring live music, and an integrated marketing experience.
Static-X will be hammering out their heaviest, most flammable work to date at Sno-Core 2009 in support of their new release CULT OF STATIC, on Reprise Records. The album marries the band’s aggressive driving force with disarming experimentation, a performance you do not want to miss.
Keeping the integral tones, Static-X encompasses shredding guitars with solos that have brought the band to a level of playing to be reckoned with. The cybernetic stomp of “Hypure” and “You Am I” bludgeon, bruise and break with precise grooves. Elsewhere, the staccato riffs on “Terminal” crush through an unmistakable guitar tone. Guitarist Koichi Fukuda blazes through incendiary solos, while Tony Campos bolts down demonic bass lines and Nick Oshiro pounds out deadly rhythms. Front-man Wayne Static riffs pure violence and screams out his soul. “Over the years my voice has been destroyed from excessive touring… and I love it,” exclaims Static. “The vocals on the new record are raw and brutal.” The fiery raw quality of CULT OF STATIC is blatant as the first single “Stingwray” now on the airwaves is climbing to the top.

0 Saliva – Cinco Diablo (Release Year – 2008)
Saliva is back with their first new album in almost two years, “Cinco Diablo”. I liked Saliva’s last album, “Blood Stained Love Story” even though it wasn’t well received by the masses. Their last album saw the band moving away from their nu-metal sound into a more mainstream approach. With Cinco Diablo, Saliva continues to spread their wings with an album that blends hard rock, metal and pop. At times some songs feel like like past Saliva tunes, and other songs show the band moving into a different direction once more.
“Family Reunion” is the first single released to radio. If you are familiar with Saliva’s past work, this song will feel somewhat familiar. If you have heard their songs “Click Click Boom” and “Ladies and Gentleman” you will probably like the familiar “BOOM” in the lyrics. It is a good opening song for this disc, even though the lyric is getting a little tired and over used in my opinion.
“My Own Worst Enemy” is a mid tempo hard rocking song that adds a layer of industrial sounding keyboard in the background of the tune. The more I listen to this song, the more I like it.
“Best of Me” keeps the heavy rock going. This is a pretty good rocker that ought to be Saliva’s next single. This is my favorite cut on “Cinco Diablo” so far.
With three hard tunes in a row, Saliva smartly breaks up the pace with “How Could You” . This is a tune that will likely have radio appeal for fans of bands like Nickelback and 3 Doors Down. It has a few hard guitar parts, but is light enough that is could find its way onto pop rock radio.
The hard rock continues with “Hunt You Down”. This tune has a beat that reminds me a little bit of older Nine Inch Nails material. I like the old NIN stuff, so I though that was kind of cool. This is a good song that Saliva needs to make one of their concert staples.
“Judgment Day” has grungy guitars and occasional harmonics that are reminiscent of the songs Alice in Chains was doing in the 90’s. I think there are some cool guitar parts in this song, but I don’t think there is enough to really set this tune apart from a lot of the other mainstream radio tunes. This song needs something to push it over the edge, but it never quite gets there.
‘Forever And A Day” is the closest thing to a power ballad that you will hear from Saliva. This is another really good song that has major hit potential.
“I’m Coming Back” feels like a filler tune to me. I am sure that isn’t what the band was trying to achieve, but this song does nothing for me.
The song “Southern Girls” took me by surprise. This is kind of a nu-metal meets southern rock song. I don’t remember Saliva doing anything like this before, but I like this song a lot. The chorus on this song kind of has a Motley Crue like feel to it. Cool stuff!
“So Long” closes out “Cinco Diablo” with a piano based number that sounds as if it should have been on a Coldplay CD. Yes, that is right, I said Coldplay. This is a really good song, but it seems out of place on this disc. I think Saliva fans are going to be shaking their heads when they hear this.
As a whole, I think “Cinco Diablo” is a better than Saliva’s last album, “Blood Stained Love Story” but I still don’t feel this is their best stuff. This album shows a little more growth and more experimentation with Saliva’s sound. It is definitely a strong album for the band, and this disc is a cool way to close out a killer year of hard rock music.
“Cinco Diablo” is in stores tomorrow, Tuesday December 15th. You can preview “Cinco Diablo” at the Saliva myspace page. You can purchase the album here.

2 HRH One on One with Saliva’s Jonathan Montoya
Last week HRH had the chance to talk to Saliva guitarist Jonathan Montoya before the band hit the stage at Sammy T’s in Huntsville, AL. I’d never talked to Jonathan before so I was a little hesitant about how everything would turn out. But it went great Jonathan was extremely easy to talk too with a funny sense of humor. Be sure and check out Cinco Diablo when it hits stores Dec 16th.
HRH: You guys are releasing Cinco Diablo on Dec 16th unfortunately the only song I have heard so far is “Family Reunion”. Can you tell me about some of the other songs on the album?
Jonathan Montoya: Yeah, they are a little darker, a little heavier. You know it is the classic Saliva sound, like “Family Reunion” is a classic Saliva staple sound. The rest of it we took a step towards the dark side, though not lyrically. Lyrically the songs are a lot more positive but the music is a little more darker, a little more Alice in Chains you know but it still Saliva. We’ve found our sound and we took the best of all our records and put them together.
HRH: What songs besides “Family Reunion” would you like to see released as singles?
Jonathan Montoya: There is a song called “How Could You” and one all the girls will love called “Southern Girls”. It’s kind of in the vein of “Girls, Girls, Girls” it’s a strip club song.
HRH: Everyone is under the impression the title “Cinco Diablo” is because this is Saliva’s fifth album. But it is actually Saliva’s sixth album is there another story behind the title?
Jonathan Montoya: Well fifth major label release and and there are five members in the band so it could be both.
HRH: Bob Marlette has produced three Saliva albums did the band work with him this time around?
Jonathan Montoya: Yeah we did.
HRH: Is the recording process easier when you have worked with a producer in the past?
Jonathan Montoya: Oh yeah absolutely. I had worked with Bob before in a band called Full Devil Jacket
HRH: You joined the band before “Blood Stained Love Story” was recorded. Was it easier for you going into the studio with the band this time since you recorded and toured for the last album?
Jonathan Montoya: Yeah but I was in the band before, I filled in for Chris Dabaldo and they brought me in no questions asked. I had helped them get a record deal so when my band broke up they called me and we didn’t even have a tryout. Our first show was in front of 33,000 people. It was pretty crazy.
HRH: Were you able to have more in-put in the songwriting and the recording process?
Jonathan Montoya: Yeah absolutely, most of the last album was done when I got in the band. So this time I had a big part.
HRH: In the past Nikki Sixx has written a song for Saliva, does Cinco Diablo have any guest song writers?
Jonathan Montoya: Well John 5 from Rob Zombie & Marilyn Manson wrote 3 songs with us but only one made the record. I just wrote 2 songs with DJ and Nikki for Sixx:AM.
HRH: I saw an interview with you on Dean Guitars website and you mentioned a song called “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” whatever happened with it?
Jonathan Montoya: It didn’t make it, man we had so many songs that some didn’t even get to be heard. But that was one that Josey and me really wanted to push but it’ll end up somewhere, sometime. We’re definitely going to record it cause me and Josey were talking about it yesterday and how we want to make sure that happens.
HRH: You’re previous band Full Devil Jacket was from Jackson, TN and the guys in Saliva are from the Memphis area. Did you know the guys in the band before you joined?
Jonathan Montoya: Yeah we did a bunch of showcases with them and actually Full Devil got signed first and I literally dug their c.d. out of the garbage at Capitol Records and gave it to our A&R guy at Island and said “Hey you might wanna check these guys out.” Next thing I know we were doing a show in L.A. and Josey was in the crowd and he told me they got a deal with Island.
HRH: I’ve heard where bands put new members through different initiations after they join. Did the guys do that to you?
Jonathan Montoya: (Laughing) No I think they got initiated not me.
HRH: The Memphis area has a pretty storied past in music history, what is the music scene there like now?
Jonathan Montoya: (Laughing) To be honest Shitty pretty much for all intents and purposes it is pretty terrible.
HRH: I read where you have another band called Supernova Syndicate and an album was recorded but never released what is the status of that project?
Jonathan Montoya: Well maybe someday, hopefully. I wrote or cowrote all the songs and sing, it’s not that much different from what I am doing now. It maybe a little more like Guns N’ Roses mixed with Saliva a little more raw. Still the same big arena rock chrous like Motley Crue. I sound like Marilyn Manson meets Axl Rose when I sing. It’s on myspace if anyone wants to check it out ( http://www.myspace.com/supnernovasin).
HRH: The first leg of Saliva’s tour just wrapped up and it featured Drowning Pool, Tantric, and Jet Black Stare. What was that leg like?
Jonathan Montoya: It went alright you know the first of it was a little tough but you could see as the songs got played more on the radio there were more and more people every night. Finally the last week of the tour we sold out so it’s like finally we’re getting some results.
HRH: The band announced dates for the second leg is the band line-up going to be the same or are there some changes?
Jonathan Montoya: Well right now we aren’t out with anyone, we are just headlining and playing with local openers and stuff.
HRH: Now days a lot of tours are going out with 3 or 4 bands on the bill. Do you think that trend is here to stay?
Jonathan Montoya: Yeah you have to with the economy, you have to pack the bill with known names.
HRH: In the interview on Dean Guitars website I was talking about earlier you said Pantera was a huge influence on you have you had a chance to read Dimebag’s biography that was recently released?
Jonathan Montoya: I’ve got it in the drawer right below me right now.
HRH: What are some of the bands out today that you listen too or would like to take out on the road with Saliva?
Jonathan Montoya: Jet Black Stare, I really like them. I can’t think of anymore that stick out in my head, that is why I don’t listen to radio anymore they don’t give new bands a chance, that is why I like Sirius so much you do get to hear something different.
HRH: What are some of the bands you would like to take out with Saliva?
Jonathan Montoya: Uh I don’t know…I know I would love to go out with AC/DC!
HRH: Saliva’s music has been used in everything from video games to wrestling soundtracks and theme songs and Sony promoted the heck out of the Playstation 3 with “Ladies and Gentleman”. Do you have some unique promotions planned for Cinco Diablo?
Jonathan Montoya: Oh I’m sure we do but we don’t have anything to do with that. Our management takes care of all of that.
HRH: Is there anything you would like to say to the fans before we let you go?
Jonathan Montoya: Yeah buy the record don’t download it!! Buy the record and help a starving musician out!!
3 Rock Gone Wild Proudly Welcomes Saliva, Tantric and Tigertailz to Lineup
America’s most diverse hard rock festival just keeps getting better. That’s because national recording artists Saliva and Tantric have joined the already impressive Rock Gone Wild lineup. Classic Glam rockers Tigertailz will also bring their unique presence to the festival. Rock Gone Wild is slated for August 20-23, 2009 in Algona, Iowa. Tickets are available now by visiting www.rockgonewild.com.
Mainstream rock stars Saliva are no strangers to the Billboard charts. As the band prepares to release their new album Cinco Diablo on Island later this month, Saliva will look to repeat past album success. Five albums, platinum records and many sold-out shows later, Saliva promises an in-your-face set on the main stage at Rock Gone Wild. Saliva is Josey Scott, Wayne Swinny, Dave Novotny, Paul Crosby and Jonathan Montoya.
Tantric rock harder with each passing year. Forming in 1999, the band has released three albums, reaching the much-coveted platinum status. Fans love the band’s self-titled debut, featuring the hit single “Breakdown.” Around for about a decade, Tantric has evolved and now embraces a heavier sound and invites an active pit at shows. The band released The End Begins earlier this year on their new label Silent Majority. Tantric is Hugo Ferreira, Richie Monica, Joe Pessia, Erik Leonhardt and Marcus Ratzenboeck.
Tigertailz bring an international flair to Rock Gone Wild. The Wales-based band formed in the 1980s and instantly gained fans, thanks in part to their image. Heavy make-up and wild hair became the calling card of Tigertailz. It doesn’t hurt that the band creates songs with memorable hooks. Tigertailz has released eight albums, with Bezerk spawning the band’s signature tune “Love Bomb Baby.” Tigertailz are Kim Hooker, Jay Pepper and Matt Blakout.
Thousands are expected to attend the inaugural Rock Gone Wild festival, bringing significant revenue to the state of Iowa. Bands already announced for Rock Gone Wild include Puddle of Mudd, Skid Row, Kix, Great White, Hardcore Superstar, Lizzy Borden, Dangerous Toys, Helix, Saigon Kick, Rhino Bucket and Junkyard with many more to come!
Visit www.rockgonewild.com and http://anatomyofafestival.wordpress.com/ each Tuesday for a new band announcement.
Rock Gone Wild will take place at the Freedom Park festival grounds, located at 2507- 160th Avenue in Algona, Iowa.
If you build it, they will rock.
1 Saliva to Release Cinco Diablo December 16th
Multi-platinum Island Records’ five-man band Saliva has completed its aptly-titled fifth album, Cinco Diablo, set to arrive in the physical and digital marketplace on December 16th – the ultimate alt-metal post-grunge must-have CD this twisted holiday season! The new album’s first single pick, “Family Reunion,” was #1 Most Added at Active Rock and Modern Rock radio and is already on over 75 stations at both formats.
In advance support of Cinco Diablo, Memphis favorites Saliva continue their never-ending headlining tour schedule with Jet Black Stare, Drowning Pool, and Tantric through Nov. 11th (Veteran’s Day) in Texas. Saliva will play a halftime NBA homecoming gig at FedEx Forum in Memphis on Halloween, when the Grizzlies host the Magic.
Cinco Diablo is the long-awaited followed to Blood Stained Love Story, Saliva’s fourth album, released nearly two years ago in January 2007. It gave the band the highest Soundscan debut of their career – #19-bullet on combined first week sales of 30,000 copies. The album also spun off one of Saliva’s highest-charting singles, “Ladies and Gentlemen,” which rose to #1 at Active Rock and #2 at Mainstream Rock. “Ladies and Gentlemen” was heard in a Sony Playstation commercial last year, and was also used in Wrestlemania and Ultimate Fighting show Wired. The song matched the success of their biggest single to date, “Always,” which hit #1 at Active and Modern Rock back in 2002 (from the Back Into Your System album).
Check out the “Family Reunion” single on the band’s MySpace page: www.myspace.com/saliva
0 Drowning Pool Exclusive Interview on SyncLive.com

1 Saliva vs. The Hives Video Showdown!
0 WZZO – Interview with Josey Scott from Saliva
Josey Scott from Saliva called into WZZO for an Interview with Tori Thomas in advance of their show in Allentown, PA.
In addition to talking about how the band’s personal drama helped create their latest CD – “Blood Stained Love Story”, he also talked about living the rock star life to the fullest, how Nikki Sixx helped him with his personal demons, and he answers the burning question – Boxers or Commando!
It is a really cool, and funny interview, that you hard rockers need to take the time out to listen to.
WZZO – Interview with Saliva’s Josey Scott
Thanks to Tori, for the heads up on the awesome Interview!
Here is the video for Saliva’s tune, Click, Click Boom!
1 Saliva – Blood Stained Love Story (Release Year – 2007)
Saliva is back with their 5th release, Blood Stained Love Story. Saliva has upgraded their sound for this record. This disc has more of a main stream sound than the nu-metal songs of their past. I decided to give this disc a look due to Saliva’s excellent debut at 19th on the Billboard charts. I have liked some of their songs in the past, and “Ladies and Gentleman” is a song that you can not ignore.
I am betting that you will hear quite a few cuts off of this “Blood Stained Love Story” on mainstream rock radio. This reminds me a lot of Stone Temple Pilot at times, but then at times ventures into something completely different.
I tend to lean towards the harder edged tracks like “Ladies and Gentleman”, “King of the Stereo”,”Twister” and “Black Sheep”. The Nickelback like “Starting Over” is also pretty good.
I found the slower tracks some boring, and I didn’t think there was enough to help Saliva stand out from the countless other sound-a-like acts on the radio.
This disc probably will not set fans of big hair hard rock on fire, but if you enjoy some of the groups enjoying main stream rock radio success today like Hinder, Nickelback and Daughtry, you will want to check this disc out. Is this Saliva’s best CD? No, not by a long shot, but those with an open mind will find some tunes to enjoy.
You can listen to some of the bands new tracks here!
Track Listing:
- Ladies and Gentleman
- Broken Sunday
- Never Gonna Change
- King of the Stereo
- One More Chance

- Here With You
- Is It You (Bonus Track)
- Write Your Name (Bonus Track)
