6 Autograph – Sign In Please (1984)
Quite possibly one of the biggest hard rock anthems of the 1980’s came from Autograph’s Sign In Please. The tune Turn Up The Radio, was a top 30 hit, and helped push the album Sign in Please to Platinum level status.
It has been a while since I revisited this disc, but I always had fond memories of Autograph, so I decided to dust this one off and give it a few more spins.
Listening to this disc in 2008, I have the tendency to want to rip on this disc. The material here definitely sounds dated, and the song writing is pure cheese. With that being said, I still enjoy this record somewhat, maybe not as much as I did 24 years ago, but it is still listenable.
The cuts Send Her To Me, Turn Up The Radio, Nine Teen & Non Stop, and My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend Isn’t Me are certainly catchy. This disc does have a few filler tracks, but nothing is absolutely terrible.
Sign in Please is quite a bit more pop than it is metal, but is still worth giving a spin every once in a while.
If you haven’t tired of the song Turn Up The Radio, it is almost worth the price of admission, when you pick up Sign in Please.
