Since that time, Skid Row has continued to make records and tour tirelessly. These days, Johnny Solinger fronts the band – with more energy than ever. Expect a live set to feature classic hits and newer songs from the albums ThickskinRevolutions Per Minute. Skid Row are Johnny Solinger (vocals), Rachel Bolan (bass), Dave “Snake” Sabo (guitar), Scotti Hill (guitar) and Dave Gara (drums). You already know Park Avenue leads to Skid Row. 2 Another Rocker goes Country?!
JOHNNY SOLINGER, lead singer for SKID ROW, and Texas chart topping label Smith Entertainment, have signed a deal to release a solo album of the singers’ own material that will draw more upon his Texas-born country influences like Hank Williams Sr. and Merle Haggard.
2008 sees SKID ROW lead singer Johnny Solinger pursuing something that’s been running through his veins his whole life…country music. On his latest solo material he proclaims…..
“Aside from SKID ROW, I’ve been recording some country tunes as well (hell, I AM from Texas) , and while it might seem odd to have such drastic tastes in music, it seems perfectly natural to me. I’m also excited about joining a team like Smith Entertainment, who’s roster includes Texas legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, and has also helped lead artists like Cross Canadian Ragweed, Pat Green, and Kevin Fowler to national acclaim.
When the Skids aren’t recording or touring I plan to be in a honkytonk somewhere dishin’ out my own brand of Texas country”
Teaming up with some of the greatest players Texas has to offer, guitarist David Grissom (Dixie Chicks, Storyville) bassist Tommy Shannon (Stevie Ray Vaughn Double Trouble) and many more…Johnny Solinger is sure to make a big noise in the country music scene in the years to come. Listen for the first single “Too Well To Go To Work” on Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana radio early in January 2008, and look for the self titled Johnny Solinger album in stores and on i-tunes by March.
“Too Well To Go To Work” has also been released as a single worldwide on i-tunes by Smith Entertainment and available now.

6 Monster Ballads Xmas – (Release Year – 2007)
Before 2006, the only band hard rock fans had to turn to at Christmas Time for harder edged X-mas music was Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
In 2006, Twisted Sister released their Christmas Album, and now in 2007, the fine folks at Razor & Tie Records have released a Christmas Compilation CD with some of the biggest stars of the 80’s Hard Rock Era.
Monster Ballads XMas is a tasty feast of reworked Christmas classics, and a song with a unique twist from Danger Danger. Every song on this disc is highly enjoyable, at least until you get to Faster Pussycat’s Silent Night, which is awful.
If you need a disc to get you in the mood for the holiday season, this is the one to pick up. There are only 23 shopping days left before X-Mas. Don’t miss out on this record!
Track Listing:
1. Jingle Bells – Skid Row
2. Happy Christmas (War Is Over) – Winger
3. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas – Jani Lane Of Warrant
4. I’ll Be Home for Christmas – Twisted Sister with Lita Ford
5. White Christmas – Queensryche
6. Run Rudolph Run – L.A. Guns
7. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree – Firehouse
8. Naughty Naughty Christmas – Danger Danger
9. Blue Christmas – Tom Keifer of Cinderella
10. Jingle Bell Rock – Nelson
11. Silent Night – Faster Pussycat
12. Twelve Days of Christmas – Dokken
13. Happy Holiday – Enuff Z’Nuff
14. Winter Wonderland – Stryper
15. Christmas Love – Billy Idol
6 Hell N’ Diesel – Passion For Power (2007)
I first heard about Hell N’ Diesel earlier this summer. One listen to the track Miss Cocaine, and I knew that I had to hear more tunes from this band.
Passion For Power is the debut release for this Swedish five piece band.
Hell N’ Diesel has a sound that I would describe as one part Skid Row, another part Guns ‘N Roses, and maybe a dash of Motley Crue and Shotgun Messiah. Even though their sound may represent some of the bigger bands of the late 80’s, I can tell you that Passion For Power is a record that delivers big!
Passion for Power is the kind of album that you want to turn on, and crank the volume up on!
Sweet Sister is a song full of attitude, sleaze and a huge guitar sound. This is the way you open up an album. Awesome!
Any song that has you breaking out the air guitar is usually a good omen. You Shook Me made me break out the Air Les Paul. This is another fun, and upbeat song.
J. Sledge has a guitar sound that mimics Slash heavily on the tune Crosses. This is another catchy, foot tapping good song. Sexual Suicide is sleazy good fun, and another great party rock tune. Fallin’ is a power ballad of massive proportions. Every glam related radio station will be playing this song before long.
Miss Cocaine is a heavy Skid Row type of rocker that is one of the many highlights on this disc. I liked this song the first time I heard it. Wow!…..Attitude flat out kicks ass! This song has a sleazy cock rock feel to it. This is one of my favorites on this record.
S.O.Y.L. or Speed of Your Love, if you prefer, is a song that borrow some elements from Motley Crue, but I don’t care. This song rocks! Love Me Hard has a killer groove and a good beat. This song has a definite 80’s hard rock feel to it, but it is quite infectious.
Ride Away is a sleazy rocker that immediately bring Guns ‘N Roses, Appetite For Destruction to mind. Headbanging is not optional with this track. Sweat It is a ballsy tune that flat out rocks. What a way to close out this disc!
I am a fan of 80’s glam rock, so without question, I love Passion For Power. There are a ton of good hard rock / glam records in 2007. Passion For Power is one of the better ones.
You can land a copy of this disc at Impulse Music.com.
The video below is for the track Miss Cocaine. Enjoy!

4 Video – Skid Row – Ghost
4 Skid Row – Revolutions Per Minute (Release Year – 2006)
I hesitated picking up the new Skid Row disc, Revolutions Per Minute, as I heard some awful things about it. I listened to the song, Shut Up Baby I Love You from the Classic Rock Magazine Sampler CD and I was surprised that it reminded me of Slave to the Grind era Skid Row.
I tend to be a little more open minded than the average music consumer, so I decided to give this CD a try. I like the first disc, Thickskin with Texas native, Johnny Solinger on vocals, so I figured why not.
If you go into this disc expecting to hear tracks like Youth Gone Wild, or 18 and Life, you will greatly be disappointed. This disc is more of a punk flavored disc than anything remotely similar to Sebastian Bach era Skid Row.
I am including a track by track run down so you can get a better feel for the CD.
Disease is a heavy track that could have easily been a left over from Slave to the Grind. This is a solid track and a crank worthy one at that.
Another Dick In the System is a pretty good rocker. I like this track a lot. You can’t deny the catchiness of this track. This is actually better than the first track.
Pulling My Heart Out From Under Me starts moving in the punk direction. It is a mid tempo number, but its not bad.
When God Can’t Wait is the first track that made me say,”what the fuck?” This sounds like a part punk, part country, part Irish Beer swaying kind of song. This song is just bad.
Thank God Shut Up Baby I Love You was the next track after that last filler crap song. This is one of the better tracks on this disc, and reminds me the most of older Skid Row material.
Strength is a cover of an Alarm track. This is a pretty good song. I do not remember the Alarm version of this song, so I can’t tell if this is faithful to the original track or not. This is one of the better tracks on this disc.
White Trash is in the punk vein. I’m not crazy about the music style, but I like the lyrics of this song.
You Lie is a country rock toungue in cheek sort of track. It is hard to take this track seriously, but I bet they have fun playing this live. (I am wondering if this song is about Baz.) This is one of my least favorite tracks on this disc.
Nothing is a pretty good upbeat rocker. I have listened to this track a few times, and it is growing on me more.
Love is Dead is just ok to me. It isn’t bad, but I couldn’t get into it.
Let it Ride is a punk flavored rock track. I couldn’t really get into this song at all. It was just noise to me. I thought this was a poor way to close this disc out.
If you compare this to Skid Row’s early work, you are probably going to hate this disc. If you can honestly listen without comparing the two, you might get something out of this CD. For me personally, I like Thickskin better than this disc. I don’t like the punk elements, and hope this was temporary insanity for the band. I consider them a hard rock band, not a punk band. At first listen, I did not like this disc at all. I decided to spin it a few more times before reviewing, and listening it at higher volumes. It honestly sounds like quite a few of these songs will translate well live. It just isn’t what Skid Row fans will be expecting. You can hear some of Skid Row’s songs at their myspace page.
