0 New Video – The Last Vegas – She’s My Confusion
Chicago rockers The Last Vegas are back with another eye-catching music video for the song “She’s My Confusion” off the band’s fourth full-length album, Bad Decisions, released last fall through FrostByte Media. The video is produced and directed by the Chicago-based video production company Motion Source Video Solutions, the same team responsible for the “Evil Eyes” music video. Click to watch “She’s My Confusion” below.
The video is based on a well-known Chicago area ghost story named Resurrection Mary that’s been around since the ’30s. The young woman, Mary, had spent the evening dancing at the Oh Henry Ballroom (now the Willowbrook) with a boyfriend. Following an argument that evening Mary stormed out into the cold winter’s night, leaving the ballroom behind and walked along Archer Avenue. Not long after, she was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene leaving her to die. The story survives through the many men who claim picking up a young female hitchhiker along Archer Avenue between the Willowbrook Ballroom (which is the locale for the video) and Resurrection Cemetery. When reaching the cemetery, the young woman is let out only to disappear into the cemetery.
“The Willowbrook Ballroom is a Chicago musical institution; one bad-ass, old-school place which drips of mystery, intrigue and aura. What better place to film an unconventional rock video for ‘She’s My Confusion?’ We stepped back in time and addressed whether those noises we hear in the night are real, or just a dream?” – Adam Arling
TLV are a straight-up rock n’ roll meets garage/punk rock band that turn any event into a raucous. Hailing from Chicago and formed in 2005, TLV burst onto the national scene in 2009 when Motley’s Crue’s Nikki Sixx saw them play live in Los Angeles and subsequently co-produced their third album, Whatever Gets You Off. More touring followed, including a stint opening Motley Crue’s “Saints Of Los Angeles” tour. The Onion referred to their sound as “Swaggering, stomping, balls-out guitar rock”, while The Chicago Sun-Times declared them to be “Red hot garage-rockers.” The Last Vegas is: Chad Cherry (vocals), Adam Arling (guitars), Danny Smash (bass), Nate Arling (drums) and Johnny Wator (guitars).
TLV are in studio this month laying down tracks for their fifth full-length album, title yet to be determined, working with the great Roy Z (Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Sepultura) and immediately following up with a North American tour and then a European tour supporting Buckcherry and Hardcore Superstar, but they’re not doing any of that alone. Partnering with fans through PledgeMusic, TLV are offering up a variety of great exclusive opportunities like a studio hang, an acoustic performance/backyard BBQ and more!

1 The Last Vegas – Bad Decisions (2012)
If Nikki Sixx puts his stamp of approval on something, 10 times out of 10, I’m going to at least check it out. So when he decides to hand-pick a band, produce their album and throw them on the opening slot for a Motley Crue tour, I listen and I listen well. Nikki certainly didn’t disappoint with The Last Vegas. I was hooked as soon as their 2009 release, Whatever Gets You Off, hit my ears. Last year, the Chicago quintet followed that album up with Bad Decisions, a raucous, loud, sleazy rock and roll album that leaves you begging for more.
I got my first taste of this album last year when I saw The Last Vegas open for Theory of a Deadman. “Evil Eyes” really stood out for me that night from the instant I heard the crunchy, nasty guitars. And with its addictive groove, “Other Side” was certainly a crowd favorite with its chant worthy chorus: “Whoa, yeah, boy you better be ready/ Last chance, ‘cuz the rumors ain’t lies/ God damn, fucking bitch goes crazy/ You ain’t ever coming back from the other side.”
The dark, brooding bass that opens “Beat to Hell” followed by raunchy guitars and Chad Cherry’s rock and roll scream, certainly sets the tone for the entire album: you’re about to get your ass kicked and it’s going to be a lot of fun. And as if there was any doubt, the title track reassures us that with The Last Vegas, we can do what rock and roll always intended for us all to do…”have a good time making bad decisions.”
Can we talk about Chad Cherry for just a moment? In a sea of monotonous, bland rock singers, Cherry’s voice stands out above them like a stripper in church. You know exactly who it is when his voice screeches out in a song. It grabs you by the balls and makes you pay attention. I think that’s something that can’t be said for a lot of artists today. His stage presence gives off the same kind of attitude, which makes him a force to be reckoned with during their live shows. And if you want to try to grab some of that attitude, then check out his badass, up-cycled, one of kind clothing designs in his Etsy store.
This album just goes from one kick ass song to the next, with seedy guitars and in your face solos that make you want to grab a bottle of Jack and guzzle it. As much as I’d like to sit here and tell you about the rest of the songs on the album, it would get redundant and you’d get tired of reading how awesome each song is. Like Cherry’s clothing line, The Last Vegas are up-cycling some good, old-fashioned rock and roll. They’re taking some great formulas and adding their own touch, their own tastes and making it better. Bad Decisions is quite possibly the best bad decision I’ve made in a long time.

In 2011, a record-breaking crowd of over 35,000 fans turned out for the festival, which raised over $10,000 for the American Red Cross as part of their tornado relief efforts in nearby Joplin, MO. In 2012, a national television audience was able to experience many Rocklahoma band performances in HD when AXS TV aired live coverage of the festival.
Rocklahoma marks the final event of the 2013 World’s Loudest Month. Created in partnership by AEG Live and Right Arm Entertainment, the World’s Loudest Month features the biggest names in rock music performing in five distinct U.S. concert atmospheres: Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Rockfest, Rock On The Range, and Rocklahoma. In 2012, the World’s Loudest Month featured over 100 artists playing for more than 200,000 rock music fans across the country on five consecutive weekends, confirming that rock music is as vital as ever.

Check out The Last Vegas’ brand new video “Evil Eyes”, as well as “The Other Side” and “Apologize” below.
“Evil Eyes” was produced and directed by the Chicago-based Motion Source Video Solutions (www.motionsource.net). Of the song and corresponding video, The Last Vegas frontman Chad Cherry commented, “We wanted to write a tune that people would want to rock out to, feel sexy and dance to…but in reality, the song’s message is creepy as hell. It’s about stalking people, watching them in their private and personal environment behind closed doors doing things they wouldn’t do in front of people…but someone is in the shadows watching all. Maybe that IS actually sexy, voyeurism and obsession.”
“Evil Eyes” will be on the new album BAD DECISIONS.
BAD DECISIONS is set for a North American street date of August 28th via FrostByte Media. Produced by Johnny K (Megadeth, Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Airbourne), the album was recorded in the band’s hometown of Chicago and contains the straight-up rock n’ roll meets garage/punk rock sound for which the band has come to be known.

3 Rob Rockitt’s Top 13 of 2009
It seems like every year I put together a top list at Hard Rock Hideout, it becomes a harder task. In 2009, there was a crazy amount of excellent releases, and choosing the best ten was a daunting task to say the least. It was too hard to pick ten, so of course, I had to add some additional releases to my top list. The following releases are my top of 2009. All of these are worth picking up, and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase any of these a second time. Check them out and see what you think!
#13 Shake City – S/T
Eonian Records has released quite a few undiscovered gems in 2009. Their best release of 2009 is easily Shake City. Shake City features the original singer of Warrant, Adam Shore. I don’t know why Adam left Warrant, but the fates should have been kinder to his band Shake City. If this CD would have been released twenty years ago, this disc could have easily gone platinum. It is better than many of the hair metal releases of the late 80’s. It is a crime that this band didn’t get the mainstream success of their peers. If you are a hair metal fan, you need to find this CD now. You wont be disappointed.
#12 Papa Roach – Metamorphosis
Papa Roach started introducing songs from Metamorphosis into their live sets in 2008, and as a result, I was familiar with several of the tunes by the time this CD was released. In my opinion, this is the strongest Papa Roach CD to date, with several hit worthy tunes. A worthy pick up for the modern rock fans out there.
#11 Cheap Trick – The Latest
I must admit that I have never been the biggest Cheap Trick fan over the years, but I can not deny how good their latest CD, The Latest is. While this may not be the most rocking CD of 2009, it does have some fun rockers, and is quality music all the way through. Robin Zander still sounds great after all of these years. This is a must own CD for Cheap Trick fans, all others ought to give it a shot.
#10 Chickenfoot – S/T
This is another CD that I didn’t really know what to expect. Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony have been playing together in Van Halen for years, but how would this new band work out with Joe Satriani and Chad Smith? Satriani’s playing on this CD is great, and when he does cut loose, he doesn’t over shadow the rest of the band. Overall, Chickenfoot is a supergroup that could have some legs. I hope these guys stick around for a few more releases. Van Halen’s other half still delivers.
#9 The Answer – Everyday Demons
The Answer’s debut CD Rise was one of my favorites of 2007. I had high expectations for their U.S. Debut, Everyday Demons. Luckily, it did not disappoint me in the least. Everyday Demons is powered by Zeppelin influenced rockers “Demon Eyes”, “On and On” “Walkin’ Mat”. The band couldn’t have asked for a bigger tour to be on in 2009. Opening up for AC/DC has gained them a ton of new fans. I can’t wait to see what the band has in store for us next. The only thing I didn’t like about Everyday Demons was cover art.
#8 Steel Panther – Feel the Steel
Steel Panther could be the greatest hair metal parody band of all time. Feel the Steel is packed full of tongue in cheek lyrics that many folks may find offensive. You can’t deny the stellar musicianship of these California rockers. I had the opportunity to see the band play at M3 earlier this year, and they did not disappoint. When is the U.S. Club tour guys?
#7 Charm City Devils – Let’s Rock N’ Roll
Who would have thought that drummer John Allen would front a new kick ass rock and roll band in 2009? I didn’t at all. I have been rockin’ with CCD’s debut CD since its release. This is quality hard rock all the way through. In case you missed it, Charm City Devils had a pretty big year with their opening slot on the 2009 Cruefest. I am still hopeful that they will do a club tour, (and break out some Child Play tunes in their set).
#6 KISS – Sonic Boom
Sonic Boom is the first KISS CD in a long time that I have been able to listen to, all the way through without skipping a song. While I don’t consider this CD their best, it is definitely in their top ten, if not top five CD’s of all time. I didn’t expect this CD to be much. Sonic Boom was one of 2009’s biggest surprises.
#5 Coldspell – Infinite Stargaze
When I first heard the demo tracks from Coldspell in 2008, I about crapped myself. I couldn’t wait to hear Coldspell’s debut CD. I have played this CD over and over again in 2009, and will continue to do so for years to come. This is melodic rock at its finest.
#4 Winger – Karma
Holy Crap?! I get the feeling that Kip Winger and Reb Beach were pissed off when they wrote this record. This is easily the heaviest Winger album to date. Reb Beach unleashes his fury on his six strings, and Karma shines as a result. The songs aren’t all heavy, but they are all top quality. I am hopeful that Kip and company will tour for this album in 2010. Great Stuff, and worthy to be in anyone’s collection.
#3 Black Robot – S/T
Black Robot – I had no expectations when I first heard Black Robot’s self titled effort. I figured any band with former Buckcherry members would probably rock, but I had no idea that I would enjoy this CD as much as I have. “Cocaine” is easily the best cover song I have heard in 2009. Black Robot
gets the nod for best new band of 2009. If you missed this CD when it was released earlier this year, you will have to wait to grab this in 2010. The original pressing is out of print, but Black Robot will be re-releasing this CD next year with bonus tracks !!
#2 Paul Gilbert & Freddie Nelson – United States
United States has been my feelgood CD of 2009. Paul Gilbert’s guitar work is quite impressive, and Freddie Nelson’s mimicry of Freddie Mercury is pretty incredible. Once I started playing this, I couldn’t stop. Absolutely fantastic music!
#1 The Last Vegas – Whatever Gets You Off
The Last Vegas has been rocking hard since 2003, but their 2009 CD, Whatever Gets You Off is easily their breakthrough release. It didn’t hurt that they had a little help from Nikki Sixx, and DJ Ashba who produced this disc. I still don’t understand why this band didn’t get the nod for Cruefest last summer. They seemed tailor made for that festival but the promoters didn’t ask for my advice. Whatever Gets You Off is crazy good. Apologize might be the biggest power ballad of this decade (no I am not kidding). This is another great party CD, and easily my favorite of 2009.

0 JVC Mobile Announces Their 2009 ‘TURN ME ON 2’ Campaign Featuring Charm City Devils From the Upcoming Crue Fest 2 Tour and Darling Stilettos
JVC Mobile Entertainment, a leading developer and manufacturer of sophisticated mobile, audio, and video products, announces their 2009 “TURN ME ON 2” campaign to promote four new in-car A/V products: the El Kameleon-KD-AVX77 5.4″ wide touch screen multimedia receiver, the KW-AVX720 7″ touch screen multimedia receiver, the KW-NT1 6.1″ touch screen navigation system, and the KW-NX7000BT 7″ touch screen navigation system. The campaign will feature a breakthrough online viral video with placement on the high definition video billboard in Times Square and in an extensive campaign that includes print ads, online banner ads, radio promotions and a summer partnership with the 2009 Crue Fest 2 tour.
Last year, JVC Mobile completely rethought its marketing strategy by dedicating the majority of its marketing and media budget to an explosive online viral video featuring Josh Todd of Buckcherry and Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach. Actively promoted throughout the inaugural Crue Fest, the top rock festival of the summer, the video shattered industry records for a product advertisement as it garnered over 5 million views, with video imbeds on thousands of individual community site pages such as MySpace, YouTUBE, and other blog sites.
This year, JVC Mobile has increased the stakes, with a larger production and a more expansive video concept, including over a dozen shoot locations and a cast and crew of over 60 people. The intensive 2-day shoot took place at the world-renowned Universal Studios back lot and the CBS Studios New York Street lot, with creative director/writer, Danny Klein (e2amp) and director, Steven Lippman (Steven Lippman Print + Film) at the helm. “TURN ME ON 2” stars Charm City Devils who are featured on the Crue Fest 2 Tour this summer, and Darling Stilettos, managed and produced by Matt Sorum for One Gun Music Management, along with 7 beautiful women, all of whom race to an impromptu block party guided by their JVC Mobile navigation systems. As with last year’s video, the action in TURN ME ON 2 is driven by a diverse soundtrack emanating from the JVC Mobile in-dash units, which includes new songs from Charm City Devils, Darling Stilettos and The Last Vegas.
“We experienced significant sales growth from last year’s ‘Turn Me On’ video exposure and we anticipate even bigger results from this year’s campaign,” said Bill Turner, Vice President for JVC Mobile Entertainment.
Along with rock stars, entertainment, and great music, the viral video incorporates key interactions with JVC Mobile’s in-car technology, including the revolutionary proximity sensor, iPod/iPhone utilizing a full speed USB connections, Bluetooth compatibility, touch screen controls, and navigation capabilities. “Our new viral video is a great snapshot into JVC Mobile’s core demographic,” said Chad Vogelsong, General Manager of Marketing for JVC Mobile Entertainment. “The video makes our product the ‘hero’ by using it to navigate to a fun destination, while also entertaining everyone on the way to the destination.”
Media partner Spin Magazine has been tapped to assist in marketing, distribution, and hosting of the video at www.spin.com/turnmeon. This exclusive page will include a Behind the Scenes “Making Of” video, with interviews and testimonials from the cast and crew. Users will be able to grab imbed codes and site links from the Spin.com to spread the “TURN ME ON 2” video around the web. The page will include an email opt-in area to capture JVC Mobile fan emails, as well as a “Buy Now” button that will take users to the Dealer Locater page the JVC Mobile’s website. This page will also feature a one-month free MP3 download promotion, which will allow viewers to download music from the viral video soundtrack before it is available for purchase.
JVC Mobile will be an official sponsor of Crue Fest 2 this summer, which stars Motley Crue, features Godsmack, Drowning Pool and Theory of a Deadman and introduces the Charm City Devils. The campaign will be actively promoted on the Crue Fest 2 tour (www.CrueFest2.com) with the viral video featured on the closed circuit venue screens at each show date as well as on the web assets for Charm City Devils, the Darling Stilettos and The Last Vegas.

2 The Last Vegas – Whatever Gets You Off (Release Year – 2009)
There are very few times, especially in today’s music scene, where a band actually lives up to the hype that precedes them. For Chicago based rockers the Last Vegas they not only live up to the hype on their new release “Whatever Gets You Off” they completely blow all those expectations out of the water. But then again, the Last Vegas is not just some new band that walked in off the streets and into the recording studio to record “Whatever Gets You Off”. The band has been releasing albums since 2004 and along with endless touring have definitely paid their rock ‘n roll dues, the fact they have Nikki Sixx helping drive the boat only helps take the band’s punk, sleaze/glam inspired rock to the next level. The only complaint I have about “Whatever Gets You Off” is the fact that six of the eleven songs on this album were also included on their 2008 self titled release. But for anyone hearing the guys for the first time that isn’t going to really matter.
The title track “Whatever Gets You Off” kicks off the whole shebang with a modern sounding Dangerous Toys groove, especially at the chorus. The band as a whole absolutely smoke this song, but vocalist Chad Cherry and guitarist Adam D’ Arling especially stand out. D’Arling shreds his solo on this track and Cherry is so full of swagger and attitude it just spills all over this song. If you want a song to crank and piss the neighbors off this is definitely the song. “I’m Bad”, which is the first single and video, follows up with a thumping nasty groove laid down by drummer Nate Arling and bassist Danny Smash. “High Class Trash” and “Loose Lips are two more swagger and attitude filled rockers with some great foot stomping grooves courtesy of some great bass lines from Danny Smash.
“Apologize” is probably the biggest surprise on “Whatever Gets You Off” after four straight up rockers, a piano and strings based dare I say power ballad with a great 70’s arena rock feel to it was the last thing I was expecting but the band is able to pull it off. You can definitely expect lighters and cell phones lighting up for this one if the band performs it live. “Cherry Red” gets the band back on track with a great sleazy groove and sing along chorus. “Dirty Things You Do” is a great stripper song with a Velvet Revolver feel to it. The remaining four songs on “Whatever Gets You Off” are all re-recorded versions of songs from the band’s last release other than a few subtle changes here and there, they are all note for note versions of the originals.
When summer finally comes around and the top comes off my Jeep “Whatever Gets You Off” is definitely one of the albums I will be blasting all summer long, much to the dismay of my neighbors.

1 HRH Fresh Blood Featuring The Last Vegas
The Last Vegas seen to have everything needed to be called “the Next Big Thing”. This 5 piece from Chicago, IL won the Guitar Center/Motley Crue “Make Rock History” contest last year, was named Spin Magazine’s Chief Editor’s “Best Discovery” at SXSW and even won the RedOctane “Be A Guitar Hero” in 2006 in which their song “Raw Dog” was included on the Guitar Hero II video game. But the band comprised of Adam D’Arling (Guitar), Chad Cherry (Vocals), Nathan Arling (Drums), Danny Smash (Bass), and John Wator (Guitar) are anything but an overnight sensation. They have been releasing music since 2004 with their debut “Lick ‘Em and Leave ‘Em”. They have followed that with 2 more albums, an E.P., endless touring and are preparing for the release of their new album “Whatever Gets You Off” with the help from producers DJ Ashba, Marti Frederiksen, and Nikki Sixx. They play a modern sounding 70’s glam punk inspired rock with a touch of sleaze, filled with in your face attitude the band uses to grab your attention whether you want them to or not.
On songs such as “I’m Bad”, “High Class Trash”, “So Young, So Pretty, So What”, “Loose Lips” or “Room At The Top” you will find yourself unable to resist singing along or stomping your feet along with Arling’s drums. Only time will tell if the Last Vegas really are the Next Big Thing but they seem to have the determination and the goods and with a management deal from 10th Street Entertainment and a label deal from Eleven Seven Music they are definitely on the right road.
If you haven’t already heard the Last Vegas you can check them out at www.myspace.com/thelastvegas or take a trip to www.thelastvegas.com You can also purchase the band’s music from I-Tunes and Amazon, believe me you will not be disappointed.
